Conrad Thompson was a guest on the latest Sports Illustrated Media Podcast to discuss he and Bruce Prichard’s new show coming to the WWE Network later this month.
Bruce and Conrad host the wildly popular Something To Wrestle With Bruce Podcast podcast. Each week, they select a wrestling event or personality and spend hours discussing the topic in-depth. WWE announced last weekend that “Something Else To Wrestle” is coming to the WWE Network – and Conrad has provided new details on exactly what that project is and how it relates to their award-winning podcast.
On the Sports Illustrated podcast appearance, Conrad explained that Something Else To Wrestle is a “totally separate deal” and their weekly podcast will continue “business as usual.” The podcast is not going away, it’s not changing and WWE has no involvement with their podcast.
They are filming a 13-episode season of Something Else To Wrestle to test the waters and gauge fan interest. Bruce and Conrad are shooting the show from their respective homes and that footage will be combined for each episode. The episodes will be 60-90 minutes in length and the show is not produced by WWE. Conrad said there the shows will be uncensored, there will be adult language and they’ll talk about controversial topics.
The show came about because a lot of people in the WWE office listen to the show. WWE saw that whenever the show focused on a particular event (ex. SummerSlam 1988), that show would see a huge spike in viewership on the WWE Network. Company offifcials took notice and reached out to Bruce and Conrad several months ago, prior to RAW’s 25th Anniversary special.
WWE has yet to announce an official premiere date for the show, but it’s already mid-April so an announcement should be coming in the next week or so.
