The former professional boxing undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe, recently posted a tweet on his official Twitter account claiming he wants to transition into the professional wrestling world. Bowe wrote:
“Looking into get into pro wrestling partners. Contact my manager joemelendez@msn.com if u can help. I want to be first heavyweight boxing champions and heavyweight wrestling champion. I have trained hard with those bumps.”
Bowe, 46 years old, is a former two-time heavyweight boxing champion. Bowe won the title from “The Real Deal” Evander Holyfield, becoming the first man ever to defeat Holyfield in the professional ranks. Holyfield would mark the only loss on Bowe’s pro record, however, Bowe won the rubber match by becoming the first man to ever knockout Holyfield.
Bowe finished his career with a 43-1-0 record (with one no contest, a crazy low-blow-heavy brawl with Polish fighter Andrew Golota). 33 of Bowe”s 43 victories came by way of knockout. Bowe retired in 1996. He came back and won two fights, one in 2004 and one in 2005, before retiring a second time. Bowe made one final attempt at a comeback in 2008, winning another fight, before hanging up the gloves for good.
Apparently Bowe has been taking up some professional wrestling training and is now interested in getting involved in that world. As noted in the above tweet, promoters can book Bowe by contacting his manager Joe Melendez via e-mail at JoeMelendez@msn.com.
