Frank Mir recently spoke to ESPN.com regarding the long awaited Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem bout set to take place at UFC 141 in Las Vegas, Nevada:
“Honestly, I think Brock will win pretty easily. I think we’re going to see the closest thing to a grappler versus striker match you’ll see nowadays. Brock is going to cover up; maybe throw one jab. He’ll rush Overeem to the cage, reach down for a leg and rip him down…. I don’t think he’s going to get off his back. I’d be very shocked — I’d applaud Overeem if he got off his back.”
Mir was once heard saying that he hoped Lesnar was the first to die from octagon related injuries, therefore his confidence in the fighter may come as a shock to some fans. This past April however, Mir was heard saying that Overeem would “struggle against wrestlers” if he ever made it in the UFC.
UFC 141, which is set to take place on December 30, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, will be much anticipated as fans will find out if Mir’s prediction on Alistair, and confidence in Brock’s abilities, rings true in the octagon.
