Lightweight champ Jacob Volkmann is looking for his fifth consecutive victory when he climbs into the octagon with T.J. Grant at UFC 141 at the end of the year.
The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada will be hosting the UFC 141 pay-per-view event on December 30, 2011, which is a Friday, in order to avoid all of the New Year’s Eve congestion in Sin City.
Volkmann vs. Grant has yet to be determined as to whether the bout will be part of the UFC prelims that will air on Spike TV, or whether it could possibly even be on the Facebook stream, which will be decided closer to the event’s date once the full card is announced.
After losing to Paulo Thiago and Martin Kampmann in his first two UFC bouts, Volksmann dropped from the welterweight class to the lightweight class where he went on to earn wins over Rony Torres, Paul Kelly, Danny Castillo, and Antonio McKee, and is now looking to earn his fifth over T.J. Grant in December.
T.J. Grant, who made his lightweight UFC debut on Versus 6, picked up a submission victory over Shane Roller (which was later disputed due to the referee interpreting an audible “grunt” as a verbal tap-out). The Canadian fighter hopes to get his first back-to-back win (of a seven-fight UFC career) in nearly three years.
The latest UFC 141 card includes:
Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem (heavyweight bout)
Sean Pierson vs. Dong Hyun Kim (welterweight bout)
Jon Fitch vs. Johny Hendricks (welterweight bout)
Jacob Volkmann vs. T.J. Grant (lightweight bout)
Alexander Gustafsson vs. Vladimir Matyushenko (light heavyweight bout)
