Not only is Brock Lesnar making his long-awaited return to the Octagon at this Saturday’s UFC 200 pay-per-view in Las Vegas, Nevada, he’ll actually be headlining the show due to an unfortunate set of circumstances that played out on Wednesday evening.
UFC officially announced via their website, UFC.com, late Wednesday evening that the original headlining bout for Saturday’s landmark pay-per-view has been cancelled following the news that interim UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has been flagged by USADA for a potential Anti-Doping Violation.
Due to the extreme short notice, with the show scheduled to take place in just over two days, UFC decided to pull Daniel Cormier from the show as well, as opposed to trying to scramble to find an opponent to keep him on the card.
In addition to confirming the news regarding the cancellation of the Jones-Cormier 2 title fight for this Saturday, the promotion also announced that former UFC 100 headliner Brock Lesnar will move up to the headline spot as he makes his long-awaited fighting return against dangerous knockout artist Mark Hunt in the new UFC 200 main event.
UFC 200 takes place on Saturday, July 9, 2016 from the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
