Ring of Honor (ROH) has officially announced that Mark Briscoe has suffered an unfortunate knee injury. This injury has forced the wrestler to pull out of the CMLL Grand Prix tournament. The injury occurred during an ROH live event from this past weekend. He was one of four ROH stars scheduled to participate in the competition.
The 11-time ROH World Tag Team Champion will undergo an MRI exam to determine how severe the injury is.
“It sucks that he’s hurt,” Jay Briscoe said during CMLL’s Grand Prix press conference. “We do double-team moves like no other tag team in this world, so that was definitely going to be a blow to the Mexican team, but it ain’t going to matter. We still gonna win.”
Briscoe Replacement
The company announced that Delirious will be replacing Mark Briscoe on Team Resto del Muno. Their name translates to “Rest of the World.” They will face Team Mexico in a 16-man elimination match. Delirious joins ROH’s World Champion Matt Taven, Jay Briscoe, and Kenny King. The other four wrestlers completing their team come from different international promotions.
Their opponents, Team Mexico, include RUSH, Dragon Lee, Volador Jr., Barbaro Cavernario, Negro Casas, Forastero, Diamante Azul, and Soberano Jr.
