Teddy Hart Talks Carrying On Hart Foundation Legacy

Teddy Hart and the Hart Foundation currently wrestle for Major League Wrestling. Episodes of MLW Fusion can be seen Saturday nights on BeIN Sports and full episodes are posted to YouTube the following Monday. Hart is the promotion’s middleweight champion and also holds the MLW World Tag titles along with Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Brian Pillman Jr. (under the Freebird rule).

Hart spoke to Wrestling Epicenter about carrying on the Hart Foundation legacy.

“It has been a huge honor to carry the family name and to be from the Dungeon alone and to be the oldest grandson of Stu Hart,” Hart said. “It has its ups and downs. We’ve had a lot of death in our family. But, with death comes either sitting around and moping or getting up and doing something about it and trying to honor the people who are up in Heaven now watching me.”

Hart also praised the treatment he’s received in MLW.

“It has been a tough 20 years with some stuff and a good with others. MLW has probably been the best thing to happen to me except maybe the MTV show (Wrestling Society X). That was a great show but never really did anything after the first season. Hopefully MLW continues doing well and gives me a platform to show my skills.”

Teddy Hart On Wrestling Past 50

Hart also addressed how much longer he’ll wrestle in the interview. The 39-year-old says he plans to wrestle past 50.

“I’m getting a little older. Wrestling is something that you can do until you’re 50, maybe even older. I’m pretty excited about this next couple of years,” Hart said. “A lot of young guys have come up watching guys like Ricochet, Kenny Omega, Neville, The Young Bucks, myself, Jack Evans… I think the evolution of wrestling is something I’m on the forefront of. The evolution of moves. The whole thing with cool outfits and trying to expand the fan base of wrestling for the next 20 years.”

Hart will team with Brian Pillman Jr. in Chicago on Saturday as they look to defend the tag titles against the Dynasty in a ladder match.

The full interview with Hart can be read here.

“Journeying around the world and winning championships in the United Kingdom, Germany and North America, Timothy Thatcher is one of the most feared and respected scientific grapplers in the sport,” an MLW press release reads.

Timothy Thatcher To MLW

Thatcher is perhaps best known as the longest-reigning EVOLVE champion in the history of the promotion. He won the title from Drew Galloway on July 10th, 2015 and would carry it for 596 days. Thatcher defended the title successfully 22x before dropping it to Zack Sabre Jr. on February 25th, 2017.

“With a reputation for believing he is superior to all in wrestling, Thatcher proudly represents the “die matte ist heilig” Ringkampf ideology.  This globe traveling grappler is notorious for smashing opponents with a pulverizing European style; adding a crippling dimension to his fight game,” MLW’s press release continues.

MLW Upcoming Schedule

MLW’s next event will be Kings of the Colosseum on July 6th from Chicago’s Cicero Stadium. Scheduled matches for that event are as follows:

  • MLW World Championship: Tom Lawlor (c) vs Jacob Fatu (Contra Unit)

Sami Callihan Explains Why He Spit On Jim Cornette

During his ring introduction from MLW’s Fury Road event on June 1st, Sami Callihan spit a mouthful of water at Jim Cornette. Callihan also did damage to the venue during his hardcore match with Mance Warner that night, leading to his dismissal from the promotion. He recently appeared on Konnan’s “Keeping it 100” podcast and explained his altercation with Cornette.

Callihan was upset at comments Cornette made during his review of AEW’s Double or Nothing about Sonny Kiss.

“Sonny Kiss, who apparently got off his day job at the drag show at the f**king Tropicana,” Cornette said on his YouTube channel. “And I don’t know, but they’re not explaining any of this … the transvestite, or Exotico as they would say at AAA. Did anyone bother to explain why he looks like that? No! They just accepted that, ‘Here’s another member of our roster, no reason to — nothing to look at here, folks.”

Sami Callihan on Jim Cornette’s Comments About Sonny Kiss

Callihan had the following to say on Cornette’s comments while on Konnan’s podcast:

“In 2019 we don’t have to explain what someone of homosexuality or anything is because it’s 2019, everything is accepted on that terms,” Callihan said. “And then he wanted to just call him a transvestite, not even knowing what he was, and say ‘he got off, looks like he just got off from working a day shift at the f**king Tropicana as a drag queen.’”

“I’m like, that’s just ignorant, like that’s speaking ignorant,” Callihan continued.

Callihan would continue to give his opinion on why Cornette is so often critical of modern day wrestling:

“He goes after anyone that has any sort of notoriety because he hasn’t done anything in his career in the last 20 years to be worth s**t. So he wants to make money off of other people.”

The full interview can be listened to below:

Tony Schiavone Returns to MLW at Never Say Never (7/25 from NYC)

Legendary wrestling announcer Tony Schiavone is gearing up for a return to Major League Wrestling (MLW).

Schiavone was an integral part of the MLW broadcast team, but had to step aside earlier this year due to scheduling issues. When MLW moved its television tapings from Thursdays to Saturdays, Tony had a conflict with his other broadcasting obligations (baseball).

MLW announced Tony Schiavone returns to the broadcast booth this summer. He’ll call the action with Rich Bocchini at MLW: Never Say Never on Thursday, July 25th from New York City’s Melrose Ballroom.

In a statement sent in to SEScoops.com, MLW CEO Court Bauer said, “Just like the fans, I’ve been hoping for Tony’s return and this summer it happens. Tony is one of the most talented broadcasters in the sport.”

Visit MLWTickets.com for details on how you can attend this event and MLW’s other upcoming shows from the Chicago and Dallas areas.

Tony Schiavone and Conrad Thompson host the popular What Happened When podcast each week on the MLW Radio Network.

MLW FUSION airs on beIN SPORTS Saturday nights at 9pm EST / 6pm PST.

Sami Callihan Done With MLW, Court Bauer Comments

Sami Callihan is no longer working with Major League Wrestling (MLW).

Callihan lost a Falls Count Anywhere / Loser Leaves Town match against Mance Warner this week on MLW Fusion. You can watch the full episode below. In addition to competing in-ring for MLW, Callihan also worked behind the scenes as an agent.

There were plans for Callihan to return to MLW under a mask this summer. However, that won’t be happening as a result of his reckless behavior during the match.

A fan on Twitter accused Bauer of “ditching” Callihan to appease Jim Cornette, MLW’s outspoken commentator. Callihan spit water onto Cornette during his entrance this week, as seen below.

According to MLW CEO Court Bauer, Callihan’s beef with Cornette was not the reason for his departure. Callihan caused thousands of dollars in damage to the Waukesha Expo Center during the brawl with Mance Warner. Two $15,000 bleachers were “severely damaged” as well as other property owned by the building.

Bauer said, “That makes it very, very difficult to return to the venue which is disappointing as I enjoyed working with Sami. He was an agent and worked hard. Fans would’ve enjoyed the next chapter.”

MLW In Talks For Streaming Service

Major League Wrestling (MLW) is in talks regarding a streaming service, according to CEO Court Bauer.

MLW was founded back in 2002 after the demise of WCW and ECW. The league ran shows for two years before suspending operations nearly two years later. Wrestlers who competed during MLW’s first incarnation include CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Dusty Rhodes, Terry Funk and ECW originals Raven, Sabu, Shane Douglas and Steve Corino.

MLW was revived in late 2017 and is now one of the fastest growing promotions in the world. MLW is selling out shows across the United States and has a healthy audience for the weekly MLW Fusion series on beIN SPORTS (and with other TV distributors overseas). It all amounts to a lot of great wrestling content in the archives that league officials are working on bringing to fans (and monetizing).

Fans have been asking Court Bauer about classic MLW content. Bauer revealed that talks are underway for the next phase of MLW’s digital distribution.

Ross and Marshall Von Erich Talk Vice Documentary and Family Legacy

Ross and Marshall Von Erich recently debuted for Major League Wrestling at Fury Road in Milwaukee. They teamed with Tom Lawlor to take on the controversial Contra Unit. The match did not air on the live broadcast but will air on Fusion at a later date.

The two brothers recently appeared on the WINCLY podcast and opened up about their family legacy. They also spoke about how the recent “Last of the Von Erich’s” documentary produced by VICELAND impacted their father, Kevin Von Erich.

“The producers of that show and everyone are such hard workers. What helped is they were all wrestling fans,” Marshall said of the making of the film. “They genuinely loved wrestling. So, you didn’t have someone who wasn’t a fan making a documentary. We were so happy with the outpouring of support that came from it and how supportive everybody was for my dad; it gave people the chance to know my dad a little better. We couldn’t have been happier with it.”

MLW officially announced the brothers’ signing last month.

Ross and Marshall Von Erich

“(Kevin Von Erich) is trying to use his story for good because death can do two things as my dad says. It can make you hard toward the world or compassionate for those who suffer,” Ross said of his father.

“Going through what my dad went through and seeing someone lose a brother, a sister, lose a parent. He knows that pain it brings. Sometimes it feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Before we are wrestlers or anything else, we are human beings. We learn to love our neighbors and use the story for good. I think the Vice piece helped capture that.”

MLW Signs Dr. Wagner Jr. & El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr

Having debuted in 1985, Dr. Wagner Jr is one of the most decorated luchadors still active today. He spent 16 years with CMLL before leaving the world’s oldest wrestling promotion for AAA and international companies in 2009.

El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr. has been making a name for himself since debuting in 2009.

La Dinastia Wagner becomes the second father-son luchador duo in Promociones Dorado. LA Park and El Hijo de LA Park are also managed by Salina de la Renta. Von Erichs To Team With Tom Lawlor For MLW Debut At Fury Road (6/1)

Major League Wrestling (MLW) has announced the main event for next month’s Fury Road event has been signed.

The league recently announced that World Champion “Filthy” Tom Lawlor was tasked with finding partners to face the self-proclaimed “global dealers in violence,” CONTRA Unit. Lawlor has selected none other than MLW newcomers Ross and Marshall Von Erich.

According to MLW, “Calling the Von Erich ranch on Kauai, Hawaii, Lawlor got a quick ‘yes’ from the newly signed brothers. Lawlor notes banding together with Ross and Marshall Von Erich enables the World Champion to have his own wild card going into a guaranteed wild encounter.”

Austin Aries Heading To MLW

MLW has announced that Austin Aries will be heading to the promotion. The former WWE Cruiserweight and TNA/IMPACT World Champion was hyped on the most recent episode of Fusion. The exact date for Aries’ joining the company has not yet been revealed. Aries has appeared for the promotion previously, having faced ACH in February 2018.

Aries left IMPACT shortly after losing their World Title to Johnny Impact. This loss took place at their Bound For Glory event last October. The ‘Greatest Man That Ever Lived’ got straight up following the loss seemingly breaking any illusion of injury and flipped off several members of the IMPACT production crew and crowd.

MLW also recently announced that Ross & Marshall Von Erich have signed with the promotion and will be debuting at their television tapings in Waukesha, Wisconsin on Saturday June 1st. Independent performer Adam Brooks will also be debuting on that event. Brooks has appeared all over the world, including for PROGRESS and PWG.

Kevin Von Erich Talks Vice Documentary, Fatherhood, more…

Kevin Von Erich was featured recently in the Vice documentary “The Last of the Von Erichs.” He was a guest recently on Busted Open Radio.

“Do your best and trust God. It works for me and I’m sure it’ll for you too,” Kevin said on the show. “I just that hope my story can help some other people so that it’s a benefit to the world.”

Kevin’s boys Marshall and Ross also appear in the documentary and were recently signed to Major League Wrestling and will debut for the promotion on June 1st. He spoke about how his story is now an uplifting one despite the tragedy which has occurred in the past.

“This is more beautiful than the blessing of silk,” Kevin spoke of his current situation. “To have all my children with me out here. We all live on one 27-acre farm out here.”

Kevin and his family moved to the Hawaiian island of Kauai in 2007. Ross and Marshall are still based out of the island.

“They take care of me, all the kids take care of me,” he continued. “They live by themselves, you know, but it’s love. We live like Hawaiians lived 1000 years ago, I think. A village is like a family.”
