With TNA’s announcement that the Lockdown 2013 pay-per-view will be taking place from the Alamodome in San Antoino, Texas, it will be interesting to see if the company reaches out to Mexico’s AAA promotion to sell tickets and additional generate interest in the market.
WWE took a similar approach back in 1997 when they held the Royal Rumble at the Alamodome, having several AAA matches on the non-televised undercard and even a AAA match on the pay-per-view. WWE drew over 60,000 fans for the 1997 Rumble. TNA is expected to configure the arena to hold 4,000.
With starting to cut back in the amount of annual pay-per-view events, the company has stated in recent years that 8 per year is the ideal number. Right now, it looks like 2013 will have 10 PPV events, with Lockdown in March and Bound For Glory in October getting 2-month buildups.
