New Japan Pro Wrestling’s annual G1 Climax is widely regarded as the greatest tournament in pro wrestling today. Two blocks of competitors are competing in a round robin format to determine the number 1 contender to Kenny Omega’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship at January 4th’s Wrestle Kingdom. The tournament has now begun and here are the results from Night 9:
Minoru Suzuki b. Michael Elgin – Suzuki took the pinfall win with the Gotch Piledriver
EVIL b. Hangman Page – EVIL took the pinfall win after hitting his namesake move
Bad Luck Fale b. “Switchblade” Jay White – Fale took the pinfall win after hitting the Bad Luck Fall after a referee bump and Tama Tonga hit the Gun Stun
Hiroshi Tanahashi b. Togi Makabe – Tanahashi took the pinfall win after hitting the High Fly Flow
Kazuchika Okada b. YOSHI-HASHI – Okada took the pinfall win with the Rainmaker
