Billy Corgan Comments On Ric Flair Appearing At NWA 73

The National Wrestling Alliance announced last week that Ric Flair was “coming home” and would be at the upcoming 73rd Anniversary show. The NWA has two big shows upcoming from St. Louis. NWA Empowerrr takes place August 28th from the Chase Ballroom and the promotion’s anniversary show takes place from the same venue the night after.

Corgan was recently on the Battleground podcast and spoke about how the deal to have Flair appear on the show came together. According to Corgan, Conrad Thompson played a role in brokering the deal.

“NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion, Nick Aldis had had lunch not too long ago with Conrad Thompson,” Corgan said on the show (transcriptions via Fightful). “Everybody knows Conrad from his success in podcasting but Conrad’s also a member of the Flair family via marriage.”

Corgan continued to say that there was likely some poking around that took place during that lunch meeting to see if Flair was interested.

“I believe it was right around the time that Mr. Flair had left his relationship with the WWE, so I think maybe there was some poking around during that lunch about, ‘Do you think this is something Ric might be interested in?’ So, I think that opened up the channel to talking behind the scenes about whether or not we could put it together, and obviously, it did happen, and I’m very excited.”

NWA-Tessa Blanchard Talks Reportedly At Standstill

It looks like Tessa Blanchard won’t be coming to NWA anytime soon despite initial interest.

Fightful Select reports that the NWA showed interest in bringing Blanchard over to the promotion this summer. The report notes that talks have been put to the side for the time being as both sides weren’t able to come to an agreement.

Blanchard has mostly remained on the sidelines since making her nasty exit from Impact Wrestling. It was reported that she hadn’t made a decision regarding wrestling as she was celebrating her marriage to fellow wrestler Daga.

Reports once swirled on Blanchard and Daga potentially making their way to AEW. Nothing has come to fruition on that front.

Back in Sept. 2020, Blanchard broke her silence on her hiatus.

“I’ve been away for a while, the main reason for that is to focus on my wedding & honeymoon. The past few months I’ve gotten back to the basics & been focusing on the relationships I have with family, friends & myself. The point of this post is because I’m taking back the control of my narrative.

“I’ve had people weigh in on what I should do, what I should say, what interview to do, where to go.. now, I want to listen to what I want and what’s in my heart. I am so blessed in so many areas of my life & I am so grateful to have such strong people in my life.”

If Tessa Blanchard returns to wrestling, which promotion do you think she will sign with?

Mickie James Reveals Rules For Women’s Invitational Cup At NWA Empowerrr

When the NWA presents Empowerrr from the Chase in St. Louis on August 28th, it will be headlined by the Women’s Invitational Cup. Mickie James recently released the rules for the competition on Twitter.

“Rules of the 1st EVER NWA Women’s Invitational are simple,” James Tweeted.
10 women have been selected by myself & my team of advisors. The Top 10 Women we think would & could make incredible Women’s Champions to compete in the main event of Empowerrr to become not only the 1st cup holder but will then go on to Face the NWA Women’s Champion the very next night for a chance at #TheBurke on NWA 73″

James also mentioned that the NWA Women’s World Championship (aka The Burke) will be on the line at Empowerrr. Kamille will defend the title against Leyla Hirsch, who earned the right after defeating The Bunny last week on AEW Dynamite.

James continued to explain the rules of the Women’s Invitational.

“2 women will start. Order to be determined by myself & my badass team! Madusa, Gail Kim, and Jazz.”

“Every 2 minutes a new woman enters. Eliminations only by Pinfall or Submission. There will ONLY be 1 winner annually.”

Confirmed Entrants In The Women’s Invitational Cup

Entrants already confirmed for the match include:

  1. Chelsea Green
  2. Lady Frost
  3. Debbie Malenko
  4. Bianca Carelli
  5. Tootie Lynn
  6. Jamie Senegal

FTR Want To Challenge For The NWA Tag Titles, NWA Responds

Dax Harwood of FTR has stated multiple times on social media now that he would like to challenge for the NWA World Tag Team Championships. The NWA seems on-board with this idea as well.

Harwood posted a video of The Midnight Express vs The Fantastics and a follower of his asked about FTR possibly competing in the Crockett Cup.

“That is incredibly important to us; especially now. The lineage of the NWA is deep & historic. We’d love the opportunity to fight for the belts too.”

The NWA Twitter account responded to Harwood’s comments.

This is the second time an interaction like this between FTR and the NWA has taken place. Last month, the NWA replied to a comment by Harwood about the history of the NWA tag belts. They noted that perhaps Tony Khan and Billy Corgan could have a discussion about this.

It was also noted on Twitter, that the NWA could bring back the Crockett Cup. The tournament was cancelled last year due to the global pandemic.

Harwood responded to the NWA’s comments as well.

Another noted tag-team wrestler, Xavier Woods, would like to attend any NWA tapings with FTR involved.

“Is this happening in atl? I’m right down the street from the studio,” he Tweeted.

Chelsea Green Added to NWA EmPowerrr Main Event

Mickie James is leading a charge with the NWA. Their first-ever all-female PPV is happening this month and has already garnered a lot of interest from wrestling fans. James herself has already said she will not be fighting on the card. However, one name that will be there, fighting in the main event, is Chelsea Green.

The announcement was made during a live Instagram stream. The announcement was a complete shock to Chelsea Green who until then had merely commented on social media about how much she wanted to be involved.

https://www.instagram.com/tv/CSIp3YgHFKO/?utm_source=ig_embed

It was, in fact, her comments that led to her getting a spot in the NEW Epowerrr Main Event

“I remember a Tweet that I saw from you that said ‘not only do I wanna wrestle on Empowerrr but I want to be in the main event’ and I was like ‘ooh sassy pants OK’. So I wanna do that for you.” Mickie James said to a stunned Chelsea Green.

Chelsea Green is on a Career Resurgence in 2021

Ever since her release from WWE, Chelsea Green has been on a resurgence. Making her debut for both ROH and IMPACT before being brought into the NWA main event at Empowerrr. Now, she stands just one match away from a shot at the NWA Women’s Championship.

The Empowerrr Women’s Invitational tournament will be the first in a new annual event. Nine different women, including Chelsea Green, are scheduled to take part. The winner of the tournament will not only take home the trophy and write themselves into the history of a new event but will also gain a chance to take on the Women’s Champion the next night at NWA 73.

For Chelsea Green, the chance to win a third singles title of her career will be one motivating factor, but surely behind it all is the drive to prove that she is more than the sum of her experience of the past few years and finish a proposed storyline we never got to see involving her and Mickey James.

Career vs. Title Match Announced For NWA 73rd Anniversary Show

Former WWE star Trevor Murdoch will be challenging Nick Aldis for the NWA world heavyweight championship in a career vs. title match at the upcoming NWA 73 PPV.

The former tag team champion from WWE challenged the current NWA champion for his title during TMart Promotions’ The Gathering II event this Saturday.

Aldis managed to defend his title successfully in this bout. After this, Trevor Murdoch challenged the former TNA star to a career vs. title match during the upcoming NWA 73rd anniversary show.

Trevor Murdoch wrestled for WWE from 2005 to 2008. He teamed up with Lance Cade during his stint with the promotion. This duo known as Cade and Murdoch became three times WWE tag team champions before being disbanded.

After leaving the company, Murdoch had a short stint with TNA in 2009. He had been wrestling in the independent circuit since then. He made his NWA debut back in 2019.

Apart from this championship bout, it has been confirmed that Mickie James will be wrestling at the upcoming PPV event but her opponent for the show has not been announced.

NWA 73rd anniversary show will be taking place live on Sunday, August 29 from Khorassan Ballroom of the Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis, Missouri.

Impact, NWA, & ROH All Tease “Forbidden Door” Talent Exchanges

Several wrestling companies are now walking through wrestling’s “Forbidden Door.” The term used recently to describe talent exchanges between promotions was coined shortly after “Winter is Coming” in December. Kenny Omega won the AEW World Championship and Don Callis promptly announced he would be taking the title with him to Impact’s weekly show.

Promotions such as Impact, the NWA, and Ring of Honor have all been teasing new forbidden door type exchanges online.

AEW’s FTR and The NWA

As for the NWA and AEW’s “forbidden door” relationship, the NWA recently took part in a Twitter exchange with FTR.

The NWA also responded to a fan who brought up the Crockett Cup.

Everyone Wants To Wrestle Deonna Purrazzo, Deonna Purrazzo Wants To Wrestle Everyone

Ring of Honor doesn’t appear to be out of this game either. Purrazzo appears to be teasing possibly wrestling in the NWA and Ring of Honor.

If Purrazzo didn’t have enough on her plate, the AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker appears motivated to face her as well. Scott D’Amore recently mentioned on Vickie Guerrero’s podcast that Baker cornered him regarding a match with the Knockouts Champ.

“I got cornered by Britt Baker down in Jacksonville a few weeks ago and she’s like, ‘When do I get Deonna?’ I said, ‘Hey, Britt oh, come on. We’ve always said we have an open-door policy and we’re open to doing it,’” D’Amore said on the show.

Impact, the NWA, and Kylie Rae

According to a report from Fightful, Pat Kenney was a key person in the deal that allowed Kylie Rae out of her Impact contract in order to sign with the NWA. The former Simon Diamond was employed by TNA/Impact from 2003 to 2017 and keeps a good relationship with Scott D’Amore. Additionally, Impact is said to be planning further talent-hopping relationships with other promotions in the future.

ROH, NWA, and Impact All Tweeting At Each Other

ROH’s Ian Riccaboni pointed out that upcoming shows in St. Louis (NWA), Baltimore (ROH), and Nashville (Impact) can fit tidily into one road trip.

https://twitter.com/IanRiccaboni/status/1415416209298894850

He continued to say that Jacksonville (AEW) would be another potential stop on the tour but that some cities do appear to be off limits.

https://twitter.com/IanRiccaboni/status/1415417563488694273

Chelsea Green recently debuted for Ring of Honor. She has a history already with Impact and has made no secret of wanting on the NWA Empowerrr show.

Billy Corgan, Mickie James & Nick Aldis Promote The NWA’s Return To The Chase

For four nights at the end of August, the National Wrestling Alliance will return to a historic pro-wrestling venue. NWA owner Billy Corgan, Empowerrr executive producer Mickie James, and NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis appeared at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel in St. Louis yesterday to promote the shows.

“The NWA is living history and Wrestling the Chase is living history,” NWA Owner, President Billy Corgan said.

“So when you put those two things together, it’s like a brush fire. Particularly in this local community of St. Louis. It was like the response was overwhelming.”

On August 28th, the NWA will present the all-female PPV, Empowerrr, produced by Mickie James.

“It’s pretty amazing because we’re going to we’re going to kick it off and we’re going to set the bar and hopefully for the rest of the weekend,” NWA Empowerrr Executive Producer Mickie James said. It was also revealed during the press conference that an invitational tournament will take place at Empowerr. The winner will receive a shot at the NWA Women’s Championship the following night.

“There’s so much stuff, happening from Fan Fest, to the women’s show empowered, to NWA 73, and the two television tapings. It’s going to be an incredible four days.”

On the 29th, the NWA will present the NWA 73rd Anniversary show. On August 30th and 31st, the promotion will be filming episodes of NWA Powerrr.

“There are people in this area who for them is such a huge part of their cultural fabric,” Nick Aldis said. “And they’re so excited that it’s back because they never thought they would see that Wrestling at the Chase back.”

Mickie James Has One Lingering Regret from Her Last WWE Run

There has been a lot of press about Mickie James since her latest release from WWE. From the somewhat insulting way in which her belongings were shipped to her, to the role she is playing in the all-female NWA event. However, in her latest interview with Wrestling Inc. Daily, the focus was on the one regret she carries with her from her most recent WWE run.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CQBjVscAukQ/

“In hindsight, I wish I’d shown up as ‘Hardcore Country’ Mickie James,” she reflected. “I think she would have made a lot of money.”

Going on to elaborate in more detail, Mickie explained how she chose to come back as her old-school WWE persona as she felt that resonated more with the crowds. However, looking back, she would do it differently, and continue with the Hardcore Country gimmick that brought her so much success in IMPACT.

“This is all speculation, but I think they would have more excitement, more stuff to do around that character,” James mused.

There is no denying that Mickie James is a legend of women’s wrestling and deserving of her place among the WWE greats. However, her return to the company certainly didn’t bring with it the run nor success that she deserved.

Mickie James is Moving on to Bigger and Better Things

As is becoming a familiar theme with wrestlers released from WWE during the pandemic era, Mickie James is swiftly moving on to bigger and better things. There is no rebuilding. There is no need to start at the bottom. James is a talented wrestler and a veteran of the business. This is a powerrr-ful combination.

A lady in high demand, Mickie James shocked many when she signed for legendary promotion NWA, but the swift announcement of the all-female PPV she was leading the charge for, made everything clear. Regrets can be haunting things, and while James clearly carries one, she is not letting it define the path she is following.

Mickie James Praises AEW Star As ‘The Greatest Women’s Wrestler’

Former WWE and current NWA star Mickie James recently spoke to Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast where she talked about a number of things.

The former women’s champion is looking to make her in-ring return at the upcoming NWA 73 show but she doesn’t have an opponent for the event yet.

When asked which star she would like to face in her first match for her new promotion, Mickie named a few opponents she could see herself fighting against:

“If we go within NWA, there’s Kylie Rae now. There’s Kamille, who is aligned with my husband and they are champions. As a businesswoman, I like Kamille.

She comes over to the house and we’re all friends. I’d really like to have one of those matches with like Thunder Rosa or Serena [Deeb] and put on a hell of a match,”

Mickie James Has Big Praise For Sarena Deeb

James continued her praise for the former NWA women’s champion Deeb. She called the AEW star ‘the greatest women’s wrestler’ out there right now:

“I know I’ve wrestled Serena, but everyone knows that Serena is my go-to because I think she’s the greatest women’s wrestler out there right now and I’ve always felt that way.

I’ve always had a kindred spirit with Serena because I remember her when she first moved to OVW. We’re both Virginia girls and I’ve loved her since day one.”

Mickie James’ last put on her wrestling gear for the 2021 women’s Royal Rumble match in January. Her last singles match was her encounter with Zelina Vega during the September 21, 2020 episode of Raw.

JTG Wants To Keep Shad Gaspard’s Memory Alive With NWA Run

JTG debuted with the NWA at the “When Our Shadows Fall” PPV earlier this month. He defeated Fred Rosser on the show and has since been taking part in episodes of Powerrr exclusively on FITE. The former member of Cryme Tyme spoke to Metro UK recently about how he is hoping to keep Shad Gaspard’s memory alive through his run with the NWA.

JTG was asked what is driving him to get back in the ring at this point in his career.

“Besides my passion, it would definitely be representing both Shad and myself,” JTG said during the interview.

JTG continued to say he wants to represent Cryme Tyme in the best light possible with everything he does in his career moving forward.

“I’m not just representing myself anymore. When people see JTG, Jay Tha Gawd, they automatically think of Shad”

“I wanna make sure I represent the team and myself and him in the best light possible, and keep Cryme Tyme alive with whatever I do forwards.”

JTG On Fan Response To Shad Gaspard’s Passing

Also during the interview, JTG said that the outpouring of respect and care following Gaspard’s passing really helped him in the grieving process.

“To see it on social media, everybody sharing – it helped me a lot during my grieving, seeing all these things that people were writing about him, the videos, charity, all that good stuff,” JTG said. “It definitely helped me through the grieving process.”

The full interview from Metro UK can be read here.

Mickie James To Wrestle At NWA 73rd Anniversary Show

Mickie James made an announcement on Wednesday in a video that she posted on Instagram, which is that she will be competing at the NWA’s 73rd Anniversary show.

The pay-per-view event takes place on August 29th in St. Louis Missouri. She noted that she wants fans to let NWA President Billy Corgan know who they want her to wrestle.

“On August 29 is NWA 73, the Anniversary Show. And so on the Anniversary Show, I am announcing that I am going to wrestle at NWA 73, and I’m looking for an opponent. And so I want you to tell Billy who you want to see me wrestle. Who wants to wrestle me at NWA 73? That is the big question.”

https://www.instagram.com/tv/CQbv9fPHIl4/

James was released from WWE along with Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Samoa Joe, and several more performers in April. James’ husband, Nick Aldis, is the NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

The former WWE star made her promotional debut earlier this month on an episode of Powerrr. This episode also had the announcement of the first all-women’s NWA pay-per-view now entitled, Empowerrr, which takes place the night before the 73rd Anniversary show.

James will be producing the all-women’s PPV event.

Mickie James Compares Her WWE Releases From 2010 and 2021

Mickie James will be the executive producer of the NWA’s all-women’s PPV this summer. James was recently interviewed by Chris Van Vliet and spoke about the show as well as her releases from WWE in both 2010 and 2021.

James made headlines shortly after her release this spring when she posted to social media that WWE had sent her items to her in a trash bag. As it turns out, WWE did the same thing to her when they released her in 2010 as well.

“This is the crazy thing, I posted that picture to kind of go yeah this still a thing. We have put up with so much crap in wrestling that we had become desensitized. We live in our own world and I forgot that the trash bag was offensive,” James said. “There was more to that too. I rewound back to the 2010 Mickie James, where I was mentally then when it happened the first time. It was like a stab in the heart to an open wound.”

The trash bag incident had major ramification in WWE. Longtime executive with WWE, Mark Carrano, was released from the company as a result. The entire department was shaken up not long after, with John Laurinaitis now taking on a major role.

James continued to say talk about how receiving her items in a trash bag impacted her.

“I took it then as they think I am trash,” she continued. “I was with the company for 4 years, and they think I am trash. All these thoughts were running though my head. If you are already broken, they can be devastating. I am thinking about all of that and all the people who also got released beside me. I see my name on the bag and it defines which bag is in which box. I’m thinking about the girls and they wouldn’t say anything, because you don’t want to mess up an opportunity for the future. But this Mickie James don’t give a sh*t. I am super grateful for my career and my ability; I couldn’t do it without WWE.”

Since her release, James has appeared on NWA programming. She announced that she would be the executive producer of the company’s all-women’s PPV in St. Louis this summer.

James also spoke about how she’s glad future released talent won’t receive the same treatment.

“But I am grateful that no one else will get that. This recent set of releases are getting theirs in Gucci [laughs].”

Chelsea Green Says She Wants On NWA’s All-Women’s PPV

Chelsea Green isn’t playing hard to get with the National Wrestling Alliance. She wants on their “Empowerrr” all-women’s PPV and is encouraging her fans to Tweet at Mickie James and the NWA to let them know.

“Mickie James is going for gold. She was just hired on by NWA to be an executive producer for the first-ever all women’s NWA PPV. I am so excited,” Green said.

“She is amazing. Clearly, she has pushed for this for years and has been overlooked so I’m so happy that she’s headed to NWA.”

“She is such an icon for all the women, not just women, but all the women in professional wrestling. She is the epitome of talent, character, wrestling ability, promo skill, everything.”

Green would continue to say that her Hot Mess character was influenced by James stalker character in her famous angle with Trish Stratus.

“Guys, Tweet NWA, Tweet Mickie James, let her know I want to be on the goddamn show, okay?” Green said. “I want to be the m***f*** main event of Empowerrr because that’s what I deserve dammit. Mickie, if you’re listening to this, I want to be on that PPV and I want to be the main event.”

Chelsea Green’s Injury Recovery

Green also noted during the podcast that she hurt her wrist again while training recently. She talked about how she was doing some light training with Santana Garrett when she heard a popping sound in her arm.

“I heard a nasty pop sound and guess where it came from? Surprise, surprise, my arm,” Green said.

“It hurt so much. I would say it almost hurt just as much as breaking it,” she continued.

She then went home and iced the injury. When she woke up this next morning she went to the ER because the pain was so bad. X-Rays reveal there was no fracture but doctors think she just has a lot of scar tissue build-up and that .

Green then said she reached out to WWE since her original injury happened in a WWE ring. The company allowed the recently released Green to come and work with their physiotherapist.

“I reached out to WWE and they were kind enough to let me come into the Performance Center and use their physical therapist and rehab my arm. Thank god, I’m very grateful for that.”

Green is Canadian and noted that looking at the cost of trips to the ER is kind of daunting.

“If you’re not American and you live in America, you know my struggle. The healthcare system is wild,” she said.

“I’ll be at the PC for the next couple of weeks, which is kind of funny and kind of awkward,” she continued.

Billy Corgan On WWE Declining The Offer To Buy NWA

NWA President Billy Corgan recently appeared on Talk Is Jericho podcast where he discussed the various aspects of running a wrestling promotion in detail.

The Smashing Pumpkins star first opened up about when he bought the company in May 2017 and discussed how he was coming from the whole debacle with TNA at the time.

Billy Corgan then interestingly revealed that WWE was offered to buy the promotion at a time but the company declined the offer:

“And then I purchased NWA. Crazily enough, it was owned by one person. It was so devalued. He tried to sell it to everybody. Nobody wanted it, as far as I know. He certainly offered it to WWE. They thought it was so worthless that they didn’t even just buy it just to take it off the market.”

Corgan also discussed the initial negative reactions when he first acquired the promotion. He admitted that at one point he even thought about starting a new company instead but he ultimately decided against it.

Apart from this, Billy Corgan commented on topics such as navigating things through the pandemic, how he was paying the wrestlers even when the company was not producing content and more.

Fightful Select reported the promotion has been working on and plans to announce an all-women’s pay-per-view.

The promotion confirmed the news on Tuesday’s Powerrr episode. It will take place on August 28th and Mickie James will be an executive producer for it. There will also be the 73rd Anniversary pay-per-view event the following day.

James was released from WWE along with Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Samoa Joe and several more performers in April. James’ husband, Nick Aldis, is the NWA world Heavyweight Champion.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the promotion didn’t hold events for the majority of 2020 and allowed their talent to appear for other promotions such All Elite Wrestling to make up for dates.

The partnership saw the likes of Thunder Rosa and Serena Deeb work various matches for AEW. Rosa got the chance to headline an episode of AEW Dynamite and be featured on various AEW pay-per-view events. Deeb had also defended the NWA Women’s Championship in AEW including at the Double Or Nothing show against Riho.

This past weekend, the National Wrestling Alliance held their When Our Shadows Fall pay-per-view event where Deeb dropped the title to Kamille.

At this same show, it was revealed that former AEW and Impact wrestler Kylie Rae had signed with the NWA. This came after Rae had announced her retirement from the pro wrestling business.

Billy Corgan Comments On The Relationship Between NWA and AEW

Billy Corgan’s NWA presented the When Our Shadows Fall PPV this weekend. Kamille defeated Serena Deeb to win the NWA World Women’s Championship on the show. Deeb had most recently successfully defended that same title against Riho on the Double or Nothing Buy-In show.

Corgan appeared on the 2 Man Power Trip podcast recently and spoke about the relationship his promotion has with AEW.

“We work everything out. Tony has been an incredible partner and I never felt like the NWA or myself wasn’t totally respected,” Corgan said on the show (transcriptions via Fightful). “The communication is great and we talk fairly often. He’s obviously a very busy guy. When we do talk, we keep it to what is most valuable. I’m a fan of Tony. He’s been a breath of fresh air to business.”

Corgan continued to talk about Khan’s influence in wrestling. In particular, Corgan says that Khan and AEW are proving that there is room at the table for other promotions.

“It’s great to see their success because Tony is paving the way for us to make the argument that there is more room at the table for others,” Corgan continued. “Five years ago, when I was with TNA and I’d go into those meetings, we’d sit in meetings and they’d say, ‘It’s WWE and no one else.’ TNA’s biggest year generated like $39 million gross revenue, which is a big number. In those meetings, they didn’t care what I was selling. If they couldn’t make it happen, what could you say if you were [at a lower revenue], no matter how good your ideas are.”

Corgan’s NWA is back in the GPB Studios today. They welcomed fans back for the first time since the pandemic for tapings scheduled from June 5-7.

“Tony is proving there is more and you see that with them expanding their programming. They wouldn’t be expanding their programming if there wasn’t a desire for more.”

With Thunder Rosa and Serena Deeb becoming regulars in AEW while still in the NWA Women’s division, it begs the question of who else could be shared between the two promotions. Could Kamille defend her newly won NWA title in AEW? Could former AEW talent and recent NWA signing Kylie Rae appear on Dynamite?

Cody Rhodes vs Nick Aldis III?

Corgan was also recently on Busted Open Radio and spoke about wanting to book a trilogy bout between Cody Rhodes and Nick Aldis.

“I’ve pitched it to Tony [Khan] a few times [Nick Aldis coming over to AEW]. It’s Tony’s world, I respect him for what he’s building. But yeah, look, I’ll say it again, Nick [Aldis] versus Cody Rhodes for a third time. I mean, that is an epic, epic matchup waiting to happen,” Corgan said (transcriptions via Post Wrestling).

Kylie Rae Signs With NWA Following Agreement With Impact

Kylie Rae made her NWA debut yesterday at the When Our Shadows Fall PPV. She teamed along with Taryn Terrell, who was making her in-ring return for the first time since 2017. They defeated the team of Thunder Rosa and Melina.

During the broadcast it was announced that Rae had signed with the NWA. According to a report from PW Insider, Rae signing with the NWA required an agreement be made with her former promotion, Impact Wrestling. Rae had last been with Impact in October but departed the organization shortly after she was unable to make a scheduled PPV match against Deonna Purrazzo at Bound for Glory. A deal between the two promotions and Kylie was reportedly reached over the last 4-5 days.

The NWA is taping from June 5th to 7th in the GPB Studios. It’s not clear if Kylie is taking part in the rest of the tapings. She was in Chicago for a Warrior Wrestling show on Saturday but would seemingly be available to film episodes of Powerrr today.

Rae got the pin over Melina in the match, although it was under dubious circumstances. Rae appeared to be working for Terrell’s approval through much of the match, but also seemed to be apologetic to the live fans for any cheating that she did. After Thunder Rosa had carried Terrell to the back, it left Melina and Kylie Rae alone in the ring together. Kylie then rolled Melina up, grabbed the trunks, and got the 3-count. Rae then apologized to the crowd as they booed her heelish tactics.

NWA When Our Shadows Fall PPV Results: Kamille Wins Women’s Title

The NWA When Our Shadows Fall pay-per-view event is in the books and what a show it was.

The event took place on Sunday afternoon at the GPB Studios in Atlanta, Georgia and aired on FITE.tv.

In the main event, Nick Aldis successfully retained the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title over Trevor Murdoch. Adlis went over via DQ when Murdoch used a steel chair.

Other top matches featured on this card include Serena Deeb defending the NWA World Women’s Championship against Kamille and Aron Stevens and Kratos defending the Tag Team Titles against War Kings.

The biggest thing to note from this show was the title changee in the women’s division as Kamile went over to capture the title.  The finish saw Kamille pin Deeb following a spear. This marked the first time that she has held the title.

Billy Corgan Wants To Book Cody Rhodes vs Nick Aldis III

The NWA presents When Our Shadows Fall on PPV today at 4 PM est. Ahead of the show, Billy Corgan appeared on Busted Open Radio this week and spoke about a possible trilogy bout between Cody Rhodes and Nick Aldis. Corgan said he’s pitched the idea to AEW President Tony Khan.

Rhodes defeated Aldis at the All In show on September 1st, 2018. Aldis then regained the title at the NWA 70th Anniversary show on October 21st, 2018.

“I saw it happen twice in front of my own eyes and when you combine Cody with the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship and that history,” Corgan continued. “I’m sorry, I saw a look on Cody’s face that I’ve only seen when he was fighting for that title, because you can’t tell me that history does not mean something to him.”

The NWA World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line at When Our Shadows Fall. Aldis will defend against Trevor Murdoch, who earned the title shot by winning a battle royal on Powerrr.

“I mean, his father’s nickname is tattooed across his chest for a reason and when your dad’s Dusty Rhodes, I mean, I’m sorry. I get goosebumps just talking about the dang thing, so I hope we see Cody and Nick down the road at some point because that to me, it’s just like, it’s just waiting. It’s just waiting,” Corgan concluded.

NWA Champion Nick Aldis Talks Recent WWE Releases Including His Wife Mickie James

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis recently appeared on the It’s Our House podcast. The former Magnus in TNA discussed a number of topics on the show, including the WWE releases that have taken place over the past few weeks.

One of the Superstars released was Aldis’ wife Mickie James. “That’s just part of the game” Nick Aldis said on the podcast, talking about the likes of Aleister Black and Braun Strowman being released in shocking fashion. “You know if you’re gonna go to WWE you just need to be prepared for the good and the bad. You kind of jump on the roller coaster and hold on for dear life; it’s just sort of like that, that’s the big time, you know what I mean? Everyone knows it now, it shouldn’t come as any sort of major shock.”

“I certainly don’t want to speak on her behalf, but I think the frustration was more from how poorly used she was” Aldis continued, discussing the fallout from Mickie James being released.

“I think most people kind of know who was responsible for that” Aldis noted. “So that was like, nobody wins. They don’t really think about the fans. But at the same time, right away I got excited about the idea of her being able to be herself again and started thinking about potential matchups that we can help promote in our own way; on our own time and give it the stage it deserves.”
