NWA had an unfortunate situation on Tuesday night that resulted in an edit being made to its latest episode of Powerrr.
The promotion had to temporarily pull the latest episode of the show because of a comment made by Jim Cornette, who provides color commentary for the show.
In the episode, Trevor Murdoch was battling NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis in a match. This is where Cornette’s comment was made that offended fans.
Cornette stated, “Trevor Murdoch is the only person who can strap a bucket of fried chicken to his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia. Trevor Murdoch can take care of himself!”
NWA Vice President David Lagana took to his official Twitter account where he issued a statement and an apology for the comment.
Lagana tweeted, “On tonight’s episode of NWA Powerrr airing on November 19th 2019, one of our talents made comments which some viewers found offensive. We deeply regret the error and apologize. We have temporarily taken the program down while we correct this error.”

Taking to Twitter, Edge wrote “I love #NWAPowerrr it’s a love letter to 70’s and particularly 80’s wrestling, which is when I fell head over heels in love with this colorfully insane beast. The promos, the action, the lack of dives. Ahhhhh. Good job @Billy Good job @Lagana Good job everyone else involved.”

You guys won, pat yourselves on the back. Make ur money. But let me tell you something right now. If you guys want that title shot, if you need the title shot, why don’t you guys come wrestle us again. I’ll tell you why. The reason I’m saying that is we still have a chance at the tag team title shot at the NWA Tag Team Champions. We are willing to put that on the line if you are willing to fight us.”

Tim Storm Pre-Taped Interview
Tim Storm being interviewed ringside before the show. The interviewer begins by Eli Drake saying Storm has had his ups and his downs, lately more so on the downs. Drake asks what’s going through his mind and if he plans on hanging up his boots for good, to which Storm responds, “There’s a lot going on in my mind right now. I never thought about it at the time, but part of being on that mountain top, I guess, is you can’t be there forever.”
Storm goes on to say, “I’ve been in a valley. I really have. It’s been difficult. I kinda saw this as an opportunity, to not just climb back on the mountain top, but to kinda redeem myself. Obviously it didn’t work out the way I thought it was going to. I don’t regret anything. I don’t regret taking the challenge. Nick Aldis is an incredible champion. I will hold my head up high. I’m proud of the effort I put in to this match. I don’t know where it’s going to go from here. A lot of decisions to still be made.”
“Just hearing you say (the 10 pounds of gold is off the table) is heartbreaking. Hearing you say it’s not within my grasp. I knew it was a possibility.” Drake goes on to say Storm could go after other championship titles to which Storm responds, “Every championship in the NWA is important. I would be honored to hold any of those titles. I just don’t know if that is the direction I am going.” Storm is interrupted as he is escorted away by Nick Aldis mid-interview.
The camera zooms in on both Storm and Aldis who had moved to another corner outside of the ring to speak privately. It can be heard saying, “It’s not my place to tell you what to say or what to do. But I just wanted to stop you before you said something you couldn’t take back. Look around you. None of this happens without you. It doesn’t happen without you or me. We built this house. Don’t let people like Eli Drake waltz in here and start telling you things or putting things in your head that you don’t believe. You know who you are. Everything is possible. I’m not going to let you walk away from this. Ya know? This is your house, just as much as it’s mine. You know who you are.”
Storm is left looking around the empty arena with tears in his eyes, left to think on Aldis’ words.

The National Wrestling Alliance has released a statement regarding controversial comments made by Jim Cornette. The NWA commentator makes controversial statements regularly but it was his comments making light of suicide that has drawn a response from the promotion.
Cornette’s comments regarding suicide were brought to light recently by Glenn Joseph Robinson, producer with WWE, NXT UK, and Progress. They can be viewed in the Tweets below:
I know a lot of "average people"and none of them are butthurt pussies with their panties in a wad over getting cussed out cause they're also, you know, grown adult men and not butthurt pussies like the crybabies you're dealing with right now, AW. They can cuss back or fuck off.
“Over the last few days, a situation was brought to our attention in regard to comments made by Jim Cornette that have been taken as making light on the subject of suicide.
We’ve addressed the situation internally with Mr. Cornette and made it clear that any comments in regards to this subject, joking or serious, are not endorsed by Lightning One and the National Wrestling Alliance.
Mr. Cornette understands the seriousness of this situation and with that he will remain the color commentator for NWA Powerrr.
Mental Health and Suicide Prevention are very important to the NWA President Billy Corgan and myself. If you’re ever needing help or need to speak with someone: The National Suicide Prevention Life Line is 1-800-273-8255 or online at https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org

David Lagana
VP / Lightning One & National Wrestling Alliance.”
National Wrestling Alliance’s President Billy Corgan recently discussed the company’s new wrestling show NWA Powerrr, and revealed that he was overwhelmed by the unexpected support from fans for the show.
Speaking to PWInsider, Corgan said that the show is doing “20 times further along” than what the company expected. Corgan attributed this success to the new alternative wrestling scene.
“We’ve just been blown away,” Corgan said. “We certainly thought we would do fine, but the numbers and the feedback from the fans has just been overwhelming. I mean, we’re 20 times further along than we thought we’d be at this point. So, it showed that the last couple of years investing and working with different companies and building relationships in the business have really paid of. Word of mouth got around, and certainly, to AW’s credit and of course many others, New Japan. What’s called this alternate universe, this non-WWE universe professional wrestling is kind of kicking into another gear. We’re able to ride that wave at the same time as well.”
Corgan also talked about the creative freedom that the company gives their talent. Corgan revealed that NWA gives full freedom to the wrestlers, they just tell them what they’re trying to accomplish, then set the wrestlers free to do whatever they can do to get the story across.
“Sure. Okay. So, let’s just pretend we’re talking about an imaginary wrestler. I would pull that wrestler aside, and say ‘Here’s what we’re trying to accomplish. Here’s where we’re going. Here’s the in and here’s the out. You’re on your own.’ And literally, we’re not even giving people time to use … We’re letting them run free. Absolutely. The only sort of stopgap measure is, we tell Galli or Marquez, ‘If you think it’s going long, you pull the plug on the fly.’ But that’s it. So, if an Eli Drake or an Aaron Stevens or a Nick Aldis is on fire, they can run as long as they want to go. There’s limits on our talent. Literally, the only thing we’ve said is let’s try not to curse, because we don’t think that’s necessary for what we’re trying to get across. But beyond that, talent has literal freedom as long as they’re within the lanes of the angle.”
NWA Powerrr debuted its first episode on October 8 on the company’s official YouTube and Facebook. The company said they wanted the show to be freely available for everyone to watch around the world without any restrictions or paywalls. The show airs every Tuesday on the company’s online platforms.

NWA Powerrr Episode 4 Results
Show Opening
Powerrr’s 4th episode opens with the “Into the Fire” theme song and video opening sequence. Broadcaster’s Jim Cornette and Joe Galli waste no time welcoming the fans to NWA Powerrr’s 4th episode here at the Georgia Public Broadcasting studio in Atlanta, GA as James Storm walks into the frame carrying his national heavyweight championship belt over his left shoulder.
Interview
Storm says he’s tired of coming out week after week having to prove himself as he believes his resume speaks for itself. Colt Cabana interrupts Storm saying the championship title rightfully belongs to him, adding he is 100% healthy now. A suggestion that they settle it here and now is interrupted by Eli Drake walking onto the set.
Drake reminds Storm that he holds the ticket to the world title, motioning to his Heavyweight Championship belt. Drake says Storm has been in Nick Aldis’ face for so long asking for his shot, which Aldis has yet to agree to. In that same moment Nick Aldis walks in wearing a royal blue suit holding his championship belt under his arm.
Aldis looks to Drake who says, “Hold on pal, I ain’t got a problem with you. I’m gonna tell you, if you carry that, you are the greatest thing since sliced bread. You are the greatest wrestler walking today. But what I am gonna say is this man has been asking for his shot, and I think it’s about time.” as he puts his hands up and steps back.
Without even acknowledging Drake, Aldis looks on to Storm saying Storm’s recent comments are some sort of alcohol fueled rant. Aldis continues on to say Drake doesn’t drink, smoke, or use drugs… his only downfall is that he wants to be just like Aldis.
Storm is told to find a couple partners for a six man match-up in the “square circle” by Aldis who says if he and Cabana win the match, then Cabana gets an NWA National Title shot. Storm agrees, adding he then gets his shot at the NWA World Championship Title. Aldis says on one condition, he has to give up his title, that way he has something to lose.
Before walking off, Storm tells Aldis he might wanna check his jaguar out in the parking lot as some big truck might have bumped into it, adding that he will see Aldis real soon.

Jocephus goes into his tights, pulling out a ziplock baggie. Murdoch gets Jocephus with a boot to the face, exploding the powder everywhere, including into the face of Jocephus.

Stevens responds to a comment made from the audience and says he is wearing a shirt, not a blouse. He reminds everyone that the last time he was there he was promoting his new movie. As he asks the crowd to call out the name of the movie, Ricky Starks walks onto the set to which Stevens repeats, “No eye contact, NO eye contact!”
Galli asks Starks what he’s doing out there, before he is able to respond Stevens pulls the mic to his direction saying, “You wanna be my stunt double” and laughs. Starks rolls his eyes and begins, “On the contrary my friend,” as he holds his hand out as if Stevens should kiss it. Stevens looks at Starks in disgust.
Starks shrugs and kisses his own hand, to which Stevens exclaims, “You. Look. Ridiculous.” Starks smiles, looks away for a moment, then slaps Stevens across the face. Galli backs up and smiles as he looks on. Starks grabs for the mic as Stevens scrambles to his feet as he’s running off backstage.

Each time Galli attempts to speak to Kamille, Aldis gives his own answer or comment. Kamille just stares off into the distance, choosing not to speak. Galli attempts to ask Kamille one final question, once again Kamille chooses not to answer as Aldis leads her away from the interview area.
Last week the NWA aired the first-ever episode of NWA Power, their new weekly studio wrestling show. The show had a throw-back feel to it and was heavily praised by many within the wrestling industry. Tonight on YouTube and Facebook, the NWA will present another show from the tapings held in Atlanta’s GPB Studios.
The lineup for tonight’s episode of NWA Power is as follows:
NWA Tag Team Championships: The Wild Cards (Royce Isaacs & Thomas Latimer) (c) vs Homicide & Eddie Kingston
Ken Anderson and Colt Cabana vs. Jordan Kingsley and Sal Rinauro
Trevor Murdoch vs. Ricky Starks
NWA Women’s World Champion Allysin Kay vs Ashley Vox
“I’ll tell you this for free – Punk could negotiate a deal with us and we could do a PPV tomorrow where he keeps half the revenue. We’d do it no questions asked,” Aldis said. “If we said we’ll do all this, we’ll build all this and you come out of retirement because you wanna honor the business like Harley Race…You know, Punk was at Harley’s funeral. Punk paid his respects the same way I did. This is not me trying to cut an angle, I have great respect for Punk… He has the power to do that tomorrow.”
Current National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis recently appeared on an episode of The NWA Podcast. During their conversation, Aldis opened up about NWA’s growth and future ambitions following the premiere of their new show, Powerrr. He was also asked at one point about who he would be interested in wrestling if no boundaries existed for his choice.
Aldis responded by contemplating who would draw the most money. He listed Triple H, Brock Lesnar, and former WWE Superstar CM Punk as viable options as a dream opponent.
Seven-Figure NWA Championship Match
For him, a feud or match between the two of them for the NWA Heavyweight Championship would make sense because of the amount of money they could make.
“I mean look at the packages we put together for me and Cody,” Aldis said, referring to his match with Cody at All In. “Imagine the kind of packages we could do with Punk. He could sell out Chicago like that, you know? I genuinely believe he could take the reigns on the entire business side of it and he could make seven figures to wrestle me for the NWA title.”
NWA Powerrr recently premiered on YouTube. The entire show is available to watch below.
National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) Vice President David Lagana recently spoke with POST Wrestling regarding the premiere of their new show, Powerrr.
Lagana admitted that he and the NWA meticulously planned the premiere of Powerrr, down to the extra ‘R’ in the name. They intended to create buzz around the show with the name, helping to get more eyes on their product.
“It was a conscious effort to keep it very much bottled up so that when everyone watched it, it became this… I hate using the word viral but it did. It’s one of the reasons we went with the extra ‘R’ because you’re like, ‘Wait, why is the word power trending with three r’s?’ It was all very conscious decisions to live in a culture where attention is everything and, as Billy [Corgan] has said in multiple interviews and I think it was even in the documentary that R.E. Dalton directed, we wanted to win the day and and, you know, as the numbers showed, AEW Dark ended up helping us get new viewers based upon our good friends at YouTube and the suggested video algorithm, you know, two shows that run with long watch times worked very well together.”
Calculated Decision
When asked why NWA had waited until now to produce a new television show, Lagana explained that it was a “calculated decision.”
“[…] we could have done this two years ago but I think what’s been really good is, we’ve slowly seeped into the consciousness so that when we did this premiere, it was a lot bigger because we sort of touched a lot of different companies and talents over the last two years of doing this and so we wanted that first impression to be really strong and to be able to create a show that felt really familiar but I think the key is, it moved at a pace that I don’t think a lot of wrestling shows move at.”
NWA Powerrr recently premiered on YouTube. You can watch the entire episode below.
The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) World Heavyweight Champion, Nick Aldis, recently appeared on the This is the NWA podcast. During the interview, Aldis opened up about his ambitions for NWA and the kinds of fans they want to attract.
He recalled how NWA Vice President David Lagana told him how NWA President Billy Corgan wanted a modern equivalent to the kind of wrestling he grew up watching.
“He wants men cutting promos and having physical rough and tumble wrestling matches,” Aldis explained. “I said, ‘That I can do.’ That was them describing their vision of what they wanted and then they asked ‘What is your vision?’ I said, ‘I wanted matches to feel like prize fights.'”
Aldis continued, “I said ‘I’m sitting here watching the build to Mayweather/McGregor and it’s just the best s*** I’ve ever seen. It’s fantastic theater. They’re taking everything that pro wrestling did first, doing it better and pro wrestling’s not even doing it anymore. We’re just literally handing over all of this money to MMA and boxing. We gave them secret sauce and then stopped using the secret sauce ourselves.”
“We’re Trying To Go After A Different Demographic”
When it comes to the type of fan NWA is hoping to attract, Aldis shared his concern that the “whittled down niche audience compared to better days for our business is gonna be divided up even further.”
He added that they intend on going after a different market for their fanbase, explaining that, “If wrestling fans who predominantly exist in the current form decide not to watch our product, we’re okay with that because we’re trying to go after a different audience like any smart business would. We’re trying to go after a different demographic, and that demographic is fans who’ve fallen off for whatever reason because they preferred a certain style of stuff.”
Future Plans
The NWA World Champion already knows where he would like himself and the NWA to be in five years time. He shared that he would like to turn the NWA into the pro wrestling equivalent of HBO Boxing.
“You know I’d like to think that in five years I’ll be firmly established as a top performer and a top attraction, a sort of respectable OG character,” Aldis said. “I think that the NWA, if we keep on our current trajectory and our current milestones, within five years we could be a very solidly established brand, attraction and organization. I think brand is the best way to put it because I could see us working with multiple different companies here and there but ultimately what I’ve always wanted for us is to be like the HBO Boxing of pro wrestling.”
NWA Powerrr recently premiered their first episode. The show is available to watch in its entirety on YouTube.
Billy Corgan’s NWA aired their first episode of Power this week to positive reviews. Many wrestling personalities, most notably the Rock, took to social media to praise the throw-back feel to the show. Corgan appeared on the “Remotely Interested” podcast recently and spoke about the 2 years he has spent as owner of the NWA.
Corgan spoke about how he hopes what the NWA is doing now in Year 2 sets them up for the future.
“It’s very hard for people to understand. And, I don’t mean it in any condescending way… If you’re gonna truly grow a business, there are things you are going to do that you are just gonna have to accept in Year 2, you are not going to do in Year 6. But, if you do it right in Year 2 you are going to get to Year 6…”
“You know, we have had very good partnership relationships with Ring of Honor and stuff like that where we have been able to use their stage and to work within their world. So, this is a big thing. Now, we are stepping out on our own stage. It took a long time to get here. I could have blown this money right out the door. And, we could have done exactly what we are doing.”
“But, it took this much time to actually build the relationships with talent even or talent to buy into the idea of like why would I sign with you as opposed to another company when I could be on national TV, even though I am making less money… to explain to talent this is a different vision here.”
Episodes of NWA Power air on YouTube and Facebook at 6:05 PM Tuesday evenings.

Already announced for the tapings will be an NWA world heavyweight championship match between champion Nick Aldis and former champion Tim Storm. Aldis won his first-ever NWA world heavyweight championship by defeating Storm at a Combat Zone Wrestling event in 2017. He would later lose the title to Cody Rhodes at All In but regain it at the NWA 70th anniversary show.
A stipulation to the match has been added that if Storm loses, he will no longer be able to challenge for the NWA world heavyweight championship.
“The intent is to put the onus solely on the talent to captivate the audience with their personality and I have total faith that we will,” Aldis continued in the article. “The audience will be a part of the show in a totally different way, with direct interaction that creates unique moments that, again, are hard to capture in an arena.”

The NWA has new world tag team champions after the title’s changed hands in a dark match on last night’s ROH show. The team of Royce Isaacs and Thom Latimer defeated PCO & Brody King to win the titles after interference from Kamille, Nick Aldis’ valet. PCO and Brody King had won the titles at the NWA’s Crockett Cup event held this spring.
The NWA posted the following to their social media channels in regards to the title change:

The new champions then took a flight back to California so they can attend today’s Championship Wrestling from Hollywood show:
After celebrating all night, the new NWA World Tag Team Champions have just boarded a flight for Los Angeles.

The win for Isaacs and Latimer avenges the loss to PCO and Brody King the two suffered in the finals of the Crockett Cup this April. Isaacs and Latimer won the Wild Card battle royal on the show to qualify for the tournament proper. They then defeated the War Kings and then Flip Gordon and Bandido to advance to the finals.
The NWA World Tag Team titles date back to 1975 with inaugural champions Ole and Gene Anderson. They’ve been used as the main tag belts in WCW and TNA Wrestling previously as well. The titles were briefly used on WWE television in 1998 as part of an NWA invasion storyline.
