Two big matches have been announced for tonight’s episode of NXT from Full Sail University. Both matches should have implications for Takeover: Brooklyn III later this summer.
Matches Announced for Tonight
#1 Contenders Match
Drew McIntyre vs. Killian Dain (SAnitY)
- It’s Scotland vs. Ireland to see who will challenge for Bobby Roode’s NXT championship in Brooklyn.
- From WWE.com:
“Drew McIntyre and Killian Dain are on a collision course for pain. The question is: Which Superstar will walk away from the wreckage as the new No. 1 contender for Bobby Roode’s NXT Championship?Since arriving to NXT, McIntyre has been on a tear through every opponent thrown his way. To say the Scottish Superstar has been impressive would be an understatement.Meanwhile, The Beast from Belfast has made his mark as a part of SAnitY, terrorizing the rest of NXT. And when given the opportunity to show what he can do on his own, Dain has been simply dominant.
The opportunity to challenge for the NXT Championship would be more than enough motivation on its own, but Dain upped the ante when he and his SAnitY cohort Alexander Wolfe attacked McIntyre in the parking lot following the July 5 episode of NXT. Now it’s not just business, but it’s also personal.
Who will reign supreme when these two brawlers clash tonight on NXT? Find out when Drew McIntyre battles Killian Dain at 8/7 C on WWE Network, with the winner going on to challenge The Glorious One for the NXT Title at TakeOver: Brooklyn III.”
2. Ruby Riot vs. Ember Moon
- Asuka has stated she won’t be returning to NXT until there is a worthy challenge. Although Asuka has defended the title against Moon successfully, she did use some under-handed tactics to get the job done. Something we hadn’t seen from Asuka up until that point.
- Ruby Riot however, has never had a singles match for the championship, if she can beat Ember Moon tonight she just might be given that chance.
- From WWE.com:
“With NXT Women’s Champion Asuka making it clear on social media that she is waiting for a challenger that is deserving of her time to step up, two Superstars have made their intentions known. Now that Ember Moon has fully recovered from a shoulder injury caused by The Empress of Tomorrow, she wasted no time picking up where she left off, earning an impressive victory over Peyton Royce in Moon’s first match back on the June 21 episode of NXT. Meanwhile, Ruby Riot has been wreaking havoc in the thick of the Women’s division for months now, but has yet to challenge the titleholder in a one-on-one contest. While Moon was talking about her NXT Women’s Title aspirations with reporters two weeks ago, Riot overhead and took exception, interrupting the media scrum to remind Moon and everyone listening that she hasn’t gotten her turn yet at the coveted title.
Tonight at 8/7C on WWE Network, Moon and Riot will battle to see who is, in fact, more deserving of a NXT Women’s Title opportunity. And though this isn’t officially a No. 1 contender’s match, it clearly could go a long way in helping decide who challenges the undefeated titleholder next.”
