Asuka defended her NXT Women’s Championship against Ember Moon on Saturday at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Asuka defeated Moon, but WWE has announced today that she suffered an injury during the match.
WWE announced that Asuka broke her right collarbone during the match. The typical recovery time for the injury is 6-8 weeks.
WWE posted the following statement from ringside physician Dr. Jeffrey Westfield, who tended to Asuka in Brooklyn:
“During the match, she landed awkwardly from a throw from Ember Moon and was able to complete the match, but had notable pain and discomfort,” Dr. Westerfield said. “We performed an initial ultrasound backstage that was highly suspicious of a break that was later confirmed by an X-ray.”
