Chris Sabin Guest Coaching At WWE Performance Center

It appears as though former Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor (ROH) star, Chris Sabin, is currently at WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

Sabin teased that he was in Florida a few days ago, tweeting “Such a strange, almost nostalgic feeling it is to be in Orlando again.”

He followed this cryptic message with another upload of a heavily cropped image of the WWE Performance Center logo.

Pro Wrestling Sheet confirms Chris Sabin is at the WWE PC offering his services as a guest coach to the current crop of WWE rookies.

Sabin, unfortunately, suffered a torn ACL injury back in January, sidelining him from the push he was receiving in ROH. It was projected he would be out of action for approximately 8-12 months. He departed the promotion in March 2019.

Last year, he participated in New Japan Pro Wrestlings Best of Super Juniors tournament. He finished the BoSJ with three wins and four losses.
In October 2018, he teamed with current NXT Superstar Kushida for the Super Junior Tag League. Their team didn’t fare much better, once again earning three wins and four losses.

The former Motor City Machine Gun member isn’t the only guest coach the Performance Center has hosted. Others include Danny Cage from the Monster Factory, Pat Buck from Creat a Pro Wrestling, and Mike Mondo from the Spirit Squad.

Dominik Dijakovic Seeks Taz’s Permission To Use His Finisher

A finishing move of a wrestler is amongst one of the defining traits of what makes a character work. There’s only so many maneuvers you can use as your finishing move and sometimes you just have a favorite move that has already been attached to someone else’s name.

WWE NXT Superstar Dominik Dijakovic is one of those wrestlers who has become fond of such a move that’s already used by another wrestler in the past. The move in question is the Tazmission, which Taz used during his time in ECW and WWE.

The NXT star requested to use Taz’s old finisher by writing to him on Twitter. His succinct tweet read, “Hello @OfficialTAZ, do you mind if I start using your Tazmission hold on WWE programming and events to defeat my opponents? I have found it to be a very effective maneuver. Thank you.”

https://twitter.com/DijakovicWWE/status/1155587323100323840

The Tazmission is a half nelson choke which is a professional wrestling variant of the kata ha jime chokehold move from judo. The move is performed by putting the opponent in a half nelson with one arm and using the other to grab the opponent’s neck. Taz used this move while adding the body scissors to it, which made it look much more stronger. Here’s Taz applying the move in his WWE debut match against Kurt Angle at the 2000 Royal Rumble (6:12 mark in the video):

Dijakovic has an entire career ahead of him and we might very well be seeing him use the Tazmission on his opponents in WWE in the near future. This could of course only happen once Taz responds to Dijakovik’s request, which we will be on the lookout for.

UPDATE: Taz has responded to Dijakovic and also to other people’s comments, which reveal his thoughts on the whole thing.

https://twitter.com/OfficialTAZ/status/1155877196700897281
https://twitter.com/OfficialTAZ/status/1155879391324450816
Taz seemingly agrees that a big guy like Dijavokic shouldn’t be using a submission move as his finisher.

Some users said that the move existed in judo way before Taz even started using it, like explained above. Taz clarified that he was the first to use the move in professional wrestling:

https://twitter.com/OfficialTAZ/status/1155881725991538688

Taz concluded by stating that every move that he incorporated in his wrestling style is special to him and they aren’t merely just moves or holds for him:

Backstage Talks On WWE Launching Another NXT Brand

It’s well known that WWE plans to expand their NXT brand globally and the company plans to open performance centers as well as development territories on different regions across the world.

The first step towards the same was the launch of a separate brand for the United Kingdom in NXT UK and now a new report has revealed another country the company could be planning to launch a separate NXT brand for.

According to new reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there has at least been some talk of launching an NXT Canada brand in the company backstage.

It’s also speculated that former WWE Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella, who runs his own Battle Arts Pro Wrestling promotion in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada can be involved in the launch of this regional brand.

It’s worth mentioning here that the company will be holding a tryouts camp in Toronto Canada from Wednesday, August 7 through Friday, August 9 during the SummerSlam week.

This will be the first time WWE will hold tryouts in the country as the officials usually just bring the talents to their performance center in Florida for tryouts.

There is no word yet on what stages the talks of NXT Canada are or by what time the company expects to launch this new development brand but we’ll keep you posted on any future updates.

Update On WWE Countering AEW With NXT On FS1

Pro-wrestling might be gearing up for Wednesday night wars akin to what took place over two decades ago on Monday nights. With AEW set to premiere their weekly television show on TNT on Wednesday, October 2nd, WWE is negotiating to counter them by running NXT head-to-head against it.

WWE’s attempts to counter-program AEW’s weekly TV show were addressed recently in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

“It’s also not a secret that WWE is looking to counter-program this show with an FS 1 airing of NXT,” wrote Dave Meltzer. He would continue to say it is not yet known if NXT will remain at 1-hour or expand to 2 beginning in the fall.

“The talks are serious enough that in a FOX call to Northeastern affiliates last week, they brought up that possibility. Sources within WWE had confirmed the idea is being strongly talked about and the reason was competition with AEW, and the idea was fairly recent in planning, coming from the AEW signing with TNT.”

NXT vs AEW

WWE is also planning on having more main roster Superstars on NXT come October. It was also noted, however, that the main roster stars would not take over the show but rather compliment the current roster.

There was some speculation that AJ Styles and the O.C could be headed to NXT based on comments the Club made to DX on RAW Reunion. Styles said he knows where NXT is and isn’t afraid to go there. The report in the Observer noted specifically that this angle was not happening, however.

Oney Lorcan Reveals Vince McMahon Once Banned Him From WWE

WWE Superstar Oney Lorcan has revealed that he was once banned from the promotion he now calls home.

The WWE NXT and 205 Live star shared the news via his Twitter account, writing that it was Fandango who would contact him to let him know the ban had been lifted.

According to Lorcan, the initial ban went into effect in 2011 as he “was out of control.” This led to Vince McMahon actually banning him for life before having him escorted out of the arena by police.

Four years later, on Christmas Eve 2015, he would receive a phone call from Fandango letting him know that the ban had finally been lifted.

He ends the tweet telling the WWE Universe to “ask Fandango about it” in case they don’t believe his tale.

https://twitter.com/_StarDESTROYER/status/1152358624141987840

After initially feuding with Danny Burch, Oney Lorcan would eventually find success in NXT teaming with his rival.
The two have been working together as a tag team for some time now, and have been involved in a number of matches for the NXT Tag Team Championships. They have yet to claim the gold as their own.

Despite still wrestling for the black-and-gold brand, he also features on 205 Live, working as a singles wrestler.

First Match Set For WWE NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff

The first match has been made official by WWE for the next WWE NXT UK special.

On Wednesday, WWE confirmed that WWE NXT UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm will make her next title defense against Kay Lee Ray at the upcoming NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff event.

As of this writing, this is the only match to be announced thus far for this event. The rest of the card will be announced over the next few weeks leading up to the show, which has been sold out.

NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff will take place on Saturday, August 31 and air live on the WWE Network at 3pm ET from Cardiff, Wales. The first NXT UK Takeover event took place back on January 12 from Blackpool, England.

It’s an interesting date as fans picked up on the fact that it will take place on the same day as the second AEW (All Elite Wrestling) pay-per-view event. AEW holds All Out at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL.

This NXT UK pay-per-view event will air just a few hours before All Out so for fans wondering, WWE’s show should be over by the time that AEW starts to broadcast.

Trent Seven Reflects On Taking Pride In NXT UK, Kyle O’Reilly Helping Him Broaden His Wrestling Horizons

Trent Seven was a recent guest on the popular podcast, E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness.

During his discussion with hosts, Edge and Christian, Seven addressed taking pride in performing for NXT UK. He also spoke about which wrestler helped him when it came to understanding wrestling on a deeper level.

When asked how he felt about NXT UK being WWE’s first international brand, Seven responded that there is a “massive amount of pride.”

“You can feel it through the product as well, especially in the in-ring performances you see on the Network,” he siad. “There’s a lot of pride. It kind of feels sometimes when you look back that it’s almost like your life’s work.”

“Just being the first-ever extension of the North American arm of it as well… It all came around very sharp, and there was a bit of a detour as people were working out the logistics and how it was gonna work. Hats off to Tyler and Pete for putting on the caliber of matches and claiming that title the way they did. It’s a very proud thing to look back on and obviously to carry on with.”

Broadening Horizons

When it comes to pushing himself in the ring, Seven credits Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly as the man to help him broaden his horizons.

“The first person that comes to mind is Kyle O’Reilly. This was about 2011, I think he’d been wrestling for about a year at that time. He came over as a recommendation from Davey Richards. At that time, I was living and working as a manager of a pub. He was the first international or ‘real’ wrestler I’ve ever wrestled.”

Trent recalled a tumultuous time having to find a new venue for a show he was putting on after the previous site canceled 24 hours previously. After having miraculously secured a new place, his match with O’Reilly would be the first time he ever called a bout in the ring.

“I’ve always heard of these veterans saying ‘we’ll call it out in the ring’ and I was like ‘you’re full of it, no one’s ever done that.’ We went out there and he just battered me for about 25 minutes, and somehow, someway, it just kind of clicked for me. ‘Oh, this is actually wrestling.'”

Trent Seven is currently involved in a feud with WALTER and his stable, Imperium. He recently challenged WALTER to a matchup, claiming that he didn’t care whether the WWE United Kingdom Championship was on the line or not.

NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff will take place on August 31st from the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff in Cardiff, Wales.

No Way Jose Rap Video Leads To Interesting Comments From WWE Superstars

A pair of WWE Superstars had an interesting back-and-forth exchange on Twitter after watching a freestyle rap released by No Way Jose this weekend.

Things got started when No Way Jose released a freestyle rap about his intentions on coming for R-Truth and the WWE 24/7 Championship.

In the rap, which the WWE Superstar released in a video via his official Twitter page (@WWENoWayJose) on Friday evening, he mentions several of the recent title changes that happened in various settings, including the WWE flight to Saudi Arabia, a golf course and 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick’s real-life wedding.

Titus O’Neil chimed in on his official Twitter page (@TitusONeilWWE) with a response to No Way Jose’s freestyle.

“This was EXCELLENT No Way Jose,” wrote O’Neil earlier this morning. “But you’ll have to beat me after I beat him, and unlike him I won’t run … I’ll fight you, him, them and all-y’all-stankin’-a** family members!”

No Way Jose & Titus O’Neil Get R-Truth’s Attention

The pair of tweets managed to capture the attention of the reigning eight-time WWE 24/7 Champion.

“You can’t stay on your feet long enough to fight,” wrote R-Truth via his official Twitter page (@RonKillings) today, before dropping a random “Lil Jimmy” mention. “I WILL bite both of y’all if Lil Jimmy said so!”

This lead to O’Neil posting another response with a GIF from the movie Friday that features “Deebo” intimidating some of the men in the neighborhood, along with a caption that read, “Shutcho…wait who TF you think you talkin’ too?!”

R-Truth would respond about 20 minutes later with a GIF of his own, as he posted a funny Kevin Hart facial expression from the actor / comedian’s stand-up comedy special. The WWE 24/7 Champion included a caption that again referenced “Lil Jimmy.”

“What does TF mean,” questioned Truth in his response. “I hope that’s not bad language.”

Truth concluded, “I don’t use bad language ’round Lil Jimmy.”

Kyle O’Reilly Pulled From EVOLVE 129 & EVOLVE 130

It looks like the EVOLVE Wrestling in-ring return of The Undisputed ERA’s Kyle O’Reilly will not be happening this weekend after all.

O’Reilly was originally scheduled to make his in-ring return for the EVOLVE Wrestling promotion at their scheduled events this Saturday and Sunday, however the announcement was made by the promotion on Monday morning that he has been pulled from both shows.

“We are sorry to inform you that Kyle O’Reilly will not be able to compete at EVOLVE this weekend,” wrote the promotion in an announcement released via their official Twitter page today. “We were just given the news. We will have more information and updated cards later today or tomorrow. Thank you for understanding.”

O’Reilly joins fellow NXT Superstar Bobby Fish in pulling out of an EVOLVE in-ring return. The Undisputed ERA member also announced he will not be able to wrestle at the shows last week, but noted he will still be appearing at his meet and greets as advertised.

Kyle O’Reilly Pulled From Significant Matches On The Cards

EVOLVE 129 is scheduled to emanate from La Boom in Queens, New York this Saturday, June 29th. The advertised main event for the show is Austin Theory vs. Leon Ruff for the EVOLVE Championship.

O’Reilly was advertised to team with fellow Undisputed ERA member Roderick Strong in a tag-team match against WWN Champion JD Drake and Anthony Henry that was actually promoted by WWE with a featured article on their official website.

EVOLVE 130 goes down from the Saint Finbar Catholic Church Gym in Brooklyn, New York this Sunday, June 30th. The main event for that show will be NXT Superstar Roderick Strong vs. EVOLVE Champion Austin Theory in a “Non-Title Grudge Match.”

On the 6/30 card, O’Reilly was advertised to take on Josh Briggs in one-on-one action, with his NXT tag-team partner Bobby Fish in his corner.

EVOLVE has yet to announce a replacement for either match involving Kyle O’Reilly this weekend.

Possible Reason For Kyle O’Reilly Pulling Out Of EVOLVE Return

As far as the reason for O’Reilly being pulled from the card this close to the show, while no explanation has been provided as of this writing, it is worth noting that he also pulled out of the NXT U.K. television taping at the U.K. Download Festival at Donnington Park back on June 14th. The reason given was a back injury that O’Reilly suffered in the ladder match at the NXT TakeOver: XXV live WWE Network special back on June 1st.

“The medical man told me my back is still hurt so unfortunately I won’t be able to attend [the U.K. Download Festival] this year,” O’Reilly wrote via Twitter after being pulled from the NXT U.K. TV taping on 6/14. “I’m sorry to all the great U.K. fans.”

We will keep you posted as new information regarding Kyle O’Reilly’s status and replacements for EVOLVE 129 and EVOLVE 130 become available. Until then, make sure to follow us on Twitter @SEScoops for around-the-clock coverage of all pro wrestling news and rumors.

Adam Cole Talks About Britt Baker’s AEW Performance

Adam Cole may be the current NXT Champion, but his girlfriend, Dr. Britt Baker, is an active member of WWE’s competition, All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Speaking with talkSPORT, Cole talked about Baker’s performance during AEW’s recent Double Or Nothing event. She competed in a Fatal 4 Way matchup against Kylie Ray, Nyla Rose, and surprise entrant, Awesome Kong.

Unsurprisingly, he’s incredibly proud of what she has achieved.

“So proud of her. Britt, and she’s going to kill me, but I think she’s been wrestling close to four years now, and she works so incredibly hard. At anything she does – I mean she’s a doctor!” he exclaimed. “So she’s a dentist, then she wrestles on the weekends, so for her to get this cool opportunity and wrestle on a cool stage like that was really a lot of fun for me – I’m so proud of her.”

Baker is a legitimate doctor and is employed by private dental practice in Winter Park, Florida. She was one of the first wrestlers to be revealed as a part of AEW and is seemingly primed for a top spot within the company.

The promotion plans to unveil their AEW Women’s Title at their All Out pay-per-view, which takes place on August 31st.

NXT Champion Adam Cole and Undisputed Era kicked off this week’s show. Cole said that he told everyone that in 2019, Undisputed Era is going to be draped in gold and the NXT Championship is the start of fulfilling that prophecy.

Cole claimed that the show should start every week with just a video package of Undisputed Era highlights. Kyle O’Reilly joked that he put together that video package last night and the crowd chanted “thank you Kyle!”.

Adam stated that they are coming for NXT North American Championship and the Tag Team Championships and their power will become undeniable. NXT North American Champion Velveteen Dream interrupted and said “Adam, no one can touch you? I’d like to touch you”.

Dream said Cole looks good with the gold but the Dream looks better. Roderick Strong said that Velveteen Dream doesn’t deserve to be the North American Champion. Matt Riddle joined the party and boasted about defeating Strong at TakeOver and beating Cole in the past.

Riddle said that he is insanely good looking and stallion. The crowd chanted “bro!” as Cole told Matt to shut up. Cole called Riddle a moron and claimed that Riddle was jealous because they have been champions and Matt has failed in every championship opportunity.

Cole suggested that Riddle should go back to writing online reviews for wrestlers from the Attitude Era. Adam added that era is over and Riddle’s era will never come because everyone is living in Undisputed’s era.

Tyler Breeze came down to the entrance ramp and said that he was just in the back talking to NXT GM William Regal. Breeze told Riddle that he was better looking than him and the crowd chanted “Breeze is gorgeous!”. Breeze pointed out that he built up NXT before any of the idiots in Undisputed Era were even here. Tyler announced that Regal took his suggestion and it will be Breeze, Dream, and Riddle versus any three members from Undisputed Era in tonight’s main event.

Bobby Fish Pulled From Upcoming EVOLVE Events

It appears as though WWE NXT Superstar Bobby Fish has been pulled from a number of upcoming EVOLVE shows.

WWN Live shared that Fish would no longer be actively involved with either EVOLVE 129 or EVOLVE 130. The shows take place on June 29th from Queens, and June 30th from Brooklyn, respectively.

The NXT Superstar will, however, still be in attendance for his scheduled meet and greets.

Undisputed Era

Fish’s Undisputed Era stablemate and tag team partner, Kyle O’Reilly, will compete against Josh Briggs at EVOLVE 130.

Other NXT Superstars are also scheduled to appear, with Babatunde Aiyegbusi also seeing in-ring action for the company.

There is no word at the time of writing as to why Fish has been pulled from the events, given he participated in last week’s NXT TV tapings.

Both Fish and O’Reilly are slated to take part in a tag team match for TakeOver: Toronto II. This TakeOver show will coincide with WWE’s SummerSlam weekend on August 10th.

Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly will also be joined by fellow Undisputed Era member, Roderick Strong.

Strong will be featured prominently, wrestling in a tag team match with O’Reilly during EVOLVE 129, and a non-title match against Austin Theory at EVOLVE 130.

Montez Ford Reveals The Origins Of The Street Profits

The Street Profits are enjoying a run of success in WWE’s black-and-gold brand, NXT, with the two recently becoming NXT Tag Team Championships.

In an interview what the Not Sam Wrestling Podcast, one-half of the team, Montez Ford, reflected on how the team originally came together.

Rising Profits

“The whole Street Profits act, it’s crazy how it started,” Ford said. “[…] At the time, a couple of people came to us with the idea of us being a tag team. We started tagging in the Florida shows and just trying to get a groove of: ‘What do we want to present to the world?’ We already know who we are, but it is just a process of putting me and Dawkins together and who we are as people and trying to translate it into professional wrestling.”

He continued, “I think the art of NXT is putting your personalities through what we do in the ring. Just putting the personalities on board and trying to understand what we are trying to bring into the world. Once we had the tapings, a couple of ideas of putting us together and we ended up meshing together.”

Ford admitted that “Everything that has been put together as far as Street Profits is Dawkins and I just bouncing ideas off of each other and doing things while we are out there.”

The Street Profits claimed the NXT Tag Team Championships during a Four-Way Ladder Match at NXT TakeOver XXV. They defeated Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, The Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish, and Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler of The Forgotten Sons.

Tyler Breeze Says Decision To Return To NXT Was Easy

Tyler Breeze says his decision to leave the WWE main roster and return to NXT was an easy one. Triple H recently confirmed to media that he considers Breeze to be with NXT full-time now. Breeze dropped a North American title match to Velveteen Dream at TakeOver XXVI.

While speaking with WWE.com, Breeze said his decision to return to NXT was an easy one to make.

“One of the easiest choices of my life. I was built here. I was born here,” Breeze said. “Anytime I’ve ever questioned where I’m going, I head back home to NXT to get clarity. I head back home to recharge and reassess. And every single time it’s paid off. I trust myself. I trust my skill, I trust my passion, I trust NXT.”

Tyler Breeze In NXT

Breeze was also asked about what he feels will be different now in comparison to his first run in NXT.

“The difference is maturity and priorities,” he answered. “When I was here before, I was a pillar helping to build NXT, and I was involved in every first imaginable. I built this brand into an empire … my empire, until I was plucked from my empire and unable to reap the benefits of my hard work. This time I’m not building anything. I’m not helping anything. I’m here for myself, plain and simple.”

In terms of who he wants to face in NXT, Breeze surprisingly said he’s not too concerned about his future opponents.

“Honestly, I don’t care who is in NXT. I’ve been here before, and it’s always been the same story.  We glorify everyone else in NXT, except for Tyler Breeze. The new flavors of the month come and go, and we’re told they are the next best thing. Why ignore the staple? Put me in there with anyone you want. I don’t care, because you’re only going to be focusing on me.”
