“Road Dogg” Brian James is now working for NXT full-time and has reported to the Performance Center in Orlando, FL.
The WWE Hall of Famer made headlines shortly before WrestleMania 35 when he stepped down as the head writer of SmackDown Live. At the time, Dave Meltzer commented on the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio.
“Brian James has – what I was told – stepped down as co-head writer of Smackdown.” Meltzer added, “I don’t know anything more as to why but that happened.”
The following day, Pro Wrestling Sheet reported the decision for James to leave SmackDown was mutual between he and WWE. “We’re told WWE wants to keep his position flexible at this time and use him as a utility player, so they can see where he’d fit best going forward.”
Road Dogg has been working for WWE behind the scenes in a production and creative capacity since 2014.
