Back in February this year, Nyla Rose became the first openly transgender wrestler to sign with a major wrestling promotion in America when she signed with AEW to a full-time contract.

On AEW Dynamite’s debut episode this Wednesday, Rose will be having her big match with the company against Riho to determine the inaugural AEW Women’s Champion.

Rose made her debut in 2012 where she made appearances in Women Superstars Uncensored and Combat Zone Wrestling. She headed to Japan in 2016 and worked for Chigusa Nagayo’s promotion Marvelous as well as Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling. She returned to North America and went on to become a two-time Warriors of Wrestling Women’s Champion at WOW.

She made her debut for AEW at Double or Nothing where she participated in a fatal four-way match against Dr. Britt Baker, Kylie Rae and Awesome Kong. She established herself as a heel when she attacked her opponents Riho and Yuka Sakazaki after her triple threat match at Fyter Fest. She then went on to win the AEW Women’s Casino Battle Royal at AEW All Out.
