As previously reported, WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin will be in attendance at WWE’s September 9th episode of Monday Night RAW. The show takes place in New York’s Madison Square Garden.
The reason behind his scheduled booking allegedly lies in WWE’s push to try and sell out this MGS show, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Apparently, the 9/9 episode of RAW and the 9/10 episode of SmackDown Live are both yet to sell out. This led to their bringing in “The Texas Rattlesnake.” Since the announcement, sales for RAW have increased but there still plenty of tickets available. They currently range from $31 to $1,1606 each. It is believed that RAW will eventually sell out.
Dave Meltzer noted how important it is for WWE to be able to sell out their MGS shows in the run-up to the Wednesday Night Wars against All Elite Wrestling. Success in the Garden will apparently keep AEW from being able to book shows there.
Austin won’t be the only legendary Superstar appearing for WWE that week. The Undertaker is also scheduled to appear during that week’s episode of SmackDown.
There is no information at the time of writing as to what Austin or The Undertaker’s roles will be.
“Stone Cold” was recently on WWE television screens again for the RAW Reunion special last month.
