Deadline.com reports that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be starring in (and Executive Producing) a new reality series called “Wake Up Call.”
The premise of the show is “Johnson lending a helping hand to everyday people who are facing enormous challenges in their lives.”
The show will air on TNT, which has ordered eight 1-hour episodes, slated for a 2014 premiere.
David Eilenberg, SVP, unscripted development for TNT and TBS, says:
“We had a wonderful time working with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on The Hero, in which he challenged and mentored a group of everyday heroes. Wake Up Call evolved from our experience on The Hero and is its natural successor, bringing the human spirit of that show home to take on everyday challenges.”
The report notes that there will not be a second series of The Rock’s first TNT series, The Hero.
