Ring Of Honor (ROH) announced yesterday that World Champion Jay Lethal will defend his title against Cody at “Final Battle” next month (Fri. December 14, 2018). The show will go down from The Manhattan Center in New York.
Cody took to Twitter to respond to the news. He confirmed this will be his last match with ROH before heading into free agency next year. Cody’s contract with ROH will expire soon, making him a free agent in 2019. There has been a ton of speculation as to where the now-former Bullet Club member might end up.
In regards to his match with Lethal, Cody said it’s only fitting that he face Lethal in his last match with ROH, as Lethal was his first match with the promotion two years ago. “The American Nightmare” then vowed to take the ROH World Title into free agency with him:
“Jay was the first match I had in ROH two years ago. He will be my last. And I will take the World Championship into free agency.”
