Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz recently spoke with MMA Fighting about his upcoming fight against former WWE Champion Alberto El Patron aka Alberto Del Rio.
In this interview, Ortiz admitted that he was taken back when Combate Americas offered him a fight against the pro wrestler. Once he got the big offer, he took the fight.
“I was stunned Alberto Del Rio wanted to fight me,” Ortiz said. “I was like are you serious? Is this a joke? But Combate Americas put their money where their mouth is, and I’m excited. It’s going to be worth my time.”
Ortiz continued by noting that he wants to make sure that he puts on a great show for the fans and not give Alberto a chance to take advantage at all.
The reason for that is due to him wanting to show how devastating he is as he did in his previous fight against Chuck Liddell last November, which ended up being their trilogy fight.
“Right now it’s all Alberto Del Rio,” Ortiz said. “Smash him and make it look easy.”
