  • TNA To Spoil Bound For Glory Plans At Next Set Of Impact Wrestling Tapings?

It is going to be extremely hard for TNA not to spoil their plans for Bound For Glory when the company tapes their next set of Impact Wrestling television tapings in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in September.

Because of the fact that the September 5th and 6th tapings in North Carolina were switched to “One Night Only” pay-per-view tapings, TNA will likely only tape Impact Wrestling episodes at the Bethlehem tapings.

When the Bethlehem tapings are complete, TNA will have at least a month-worth of post-Bound For Glory episodes in the can.

  • Backstage News On TNA Releasing Office Employees & Merchandise Workers

As part of the company budget cuts, TNA has released several office workers, as well as merchandise front man Jimmy Jay, who was the protege of Don West. The company also released Dewey Barnes, who was another merchandise worker that actually appeared on television as an enhancement talent for Ethan Carter III.

It is being said that the TNA office crew was a “skeleton crew” to begin with, so with this latest round of cuts, the crew is even smaller now.

  • Rockstar Spud Talks About Bully Ray Telling The TNA Locker Room He’s Leaving

The following are highlights of a new Alternative Nation interview with TNA star Rockstar Spud:

On Bully Ray telling the TNA locker room that he’s leaving the company: “Well I wasn’t personally there, because I was in England filming British Boot Camp 2, and helping out with that process. If someone like Bully Ray has to depart from the company, that really does suck, because he brings a tremendous amount to the company, in a backstage role and an on screen role. I’ve said this in interviews before, if Hulk Hogan was around in the 80?s and so was Bully Ray, there wouldn’t be a Hulk Hogan because Bully Ray would have knocked him out of the park.”

On what a loss it is to TNA for Bully Ray to go: “Because Bubba has that connection with the audience, whether you love or hate him, he can connect, and get inside your soul (chuckles), you know what I mean? It would be a tremendous loss if Bully Ray had to depart from TNA, but let’s see who is going to step up and take that place. This is the wrestling business, when one opportunity falls away, it’s another opportunity for somebody else. So it would be good to see who steps up from there, but if he leaves the company, would I be disappointed? Absolutely, but like I said, it would be interesting to see who stepped into that role.”

Additional sources have confirmed our previous reports regarding the VELOCITY channel making an offer to TNA to be their new cable television home.

According to one source, TNA looks at a potential move to VELOCITY as a “worst case scenario.” If the company were to take the deal, they would have to cut so far back on production and talent costs that the current version of TNA as we know it would no longer exist.

  • Big Update On TNA’s Future: Which Network Wants Them?, & More

As noted over the weekend, TNA is under the impression that Spike TV will not be renewing them past 2014, however they feel they have another television deal lined up.

According to recent reports, the network that has expressed interest in TNA is The Discovery Network’s VELOCITY channel, which is only available in 48 million homes and only in HD.

The key issue with the VELOCITY deal is that it is reportedly only worth under a quarter of what they earn in rights fees from Spike TV.

While TNA officials are reportedly relieved that they have at least another television option if Spike TV doesn’t work out, they are also reportedly disappointed in the financial offer that has been made. They also hope that this deal will lead to other potential partners contacting them in the near future, possibly with a better deal.

  • Petey Williams Talks About His Decision To Retire, If He’ll Wrestle In The Future

The following are highlights of a new Camel Clutch Blog interview with former TNA star Petey Williams:

On his decision to retire: “I hear about all of these guys getting concussions and neck injuries, and I watch their wrestling style, and I realize my wrestling style’s a little bit harder than that, because I’m taking German suplexes on the neck, and piledrivers and whatever. I’m like, ‘Man, I’m gonna be 33 years old; maybe I’d better get out now, and not have to be in a wheelchair when I’m older.

My wife’s due with my next daughter in a couple of weeks or so, and I just didn’t book any shows in or around this time. Then I just said, ‘You know what? I just gotta start doing different things in life.’ You kinda have to look at your future, and ask what’s really more important: providing for my family, being there for them, or pro wrestling?”

On his future: “I’m going to become a US citizen, probably within a month. I’m probably going to work in law enforcement now. That’s what I went to school for while training to be a pro wrestler, so that’s been my other area of passion. It’s a career where I don’t have to travel, don’t have to leave my family, and I can earn a pension. My wife’s a police officer, and that’s how we kind of came together.

It’s about being a Dad, and also stopping by some local shows to say hi to the guys. I still wanna keep up with wrestling, and I’m actually enjoying it a little more, following it casually as a fan. It reminds me of back when I was younger, and I love being a fan of the sport.”

  • Backstage Update On TNA/Spike TV: TNA Lines Up New Network, Likely Moving

The word going around the television industry is that Spike TV wants out of the pro wrestling business and as a result, will not be keeping TNA’s Impact Wrestling on their schedule, nor will they be buying out TNA, or buying into any other pro wrestling promotions, as had been rumored in the past..

The impression is being given that TNA has a new television home to move to once their deal with Spike TV expires, however it is said to be a smaller network.

What’s interesting is that Spike TV is reportedly willing to let TNA remain on the network after their deal is up at the end of this year, likely week-to-week, until they transition to their new network.

  • EC3 Talks Bully Ray Leaving TNA, Vince Russo, Locker Room Leaders

Ethan Carter III did an interview with AlternativeNation.net to promote TNA Impact Wrestling moving to Wednesday Nights on Spike. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Bully Ray’s Rumored Farewell Speech To The TNA Locker Room:

“There was a talk, it wasn’t that he’s leaving, it was more of: ‘If I don’t see you guys in a minute.’ But who is to say? I think it was more, [of a] precautionary [talk], who knows?”

When He Found Out About Vince Russo Being A Consultant For TNA:

“I never knew he was working as a consultant, so I can’t really answer that. But I do appreciate his kind words, as a guy who has seen a bunch of stars, especially guys like Austin and The Rock, rise [to the top]. To have him say anything kind about me is a compliment, but compliments are compliments, and that helps your confidence grow, but you just got to keep doing what you’re doing. I wish I had time to talk to him, because who knows what I could learn from him.”

    Bound For Glory From Japan:

“It’s going to be a different kind of audience, that’s maybe not as invested story wise as they will be with the action in the ring. We have that benefit that we can just go out there and have 8 to 9 killer matches in front of a respectful Japanese crowd. It will be a very different presentation from what we’ve seen in the past, so that will be interesting.”

The Locker Room Leaders In TNA:

“Bobby Roode, Samoa Joe, Eric Young, guys like that, that have been tenured here. James Storm, Mr. Anderson, guys of that nature. People who have been in the industry for awhile, but have contributed here very successfully.”

Backstage Update On Bully Ray Parting Ways With TNA

Apparently people close to Bully Ray were caught off guard and had no idea that his contract with TNA was expiring. His deal with the company is up this coming weekend, making him free to negotiate with anyone he chooses.

As noted recently, Ray held a meeting backstage at a TNA event to basically say his “goodbyes” to friends and co-workers, as he expected that he wouldn’t be re-signing with the company.

  • Update On TNA’s Negotiations With Spike TV

There continues to be a lot of uncertainty in TNA regarding the company’s longterm outlook as it relates to the Spike TV negotiations.

Following the news that Bully Ray would be leaving TNA soon when his contract expires, it’s believed that TNA will be holding off on re-signing main event stars until they strike a TV new deal.

As a result, we could see more top TNA talent departing in the coming months.

Impact Wrestling moved to Wednesday night earlier this week and the show did one of the lowest ratings for TNA in years, with a 0.65 rating and only 852,000 viewers. The performance of Impact on Wednesdays will be a big factor in TNA’s negotiations with Spike TV.

ODB Apparently Done With TNA, Taking Bookings

It appears that former Knockouts champion ODB is done with TNA.

Her Knockouts profile was recently removed from the TNA website, which is usually an indication that talent is no longer with the company.

Additionally, she’s currently taking independent bookings and will be appearing at the Heavy On Wrestling event in Minnesota this weekend.

    She tweeted last week:
