*Spoilers* Partial TNA Impact Tapings Results From NYC (Airing 8/7)

The following are partial TNA Impact Wrestling tapings results from the Manhattan Center in New York City, airing Thursday, August 7th. The rest of the show will be taped on Friday night. Thanks to Tom for the live report:

– Knux and The Freak of The Menagerie vs. Robbie E and Jessie Godderz is up first. The Menagerie gets the win in a long boring tag match, according to our correspondent.

– Dixie Carter and King Mo take a seat on the balcony to watch the next match.

– The eight-man “hardcore war” is next. Tommy Dreamer and Ethan Carter III are the first two out for their teams and they start the match off. Two new wrestlers come in every 2 minutes with a weapon. Devon and Rhino are out next. Snitsky and Bully Ray are out next. Ezekiel Jackson and Al Snow are out next. Snow gets a big pop and a “we want head” chant from the crowd. TNA actually passed out “Heads” to people in the crowd before Snow came out, essentially spoiling it for people in the crowd. Snow actually did a moonsault out of the ring. Team 3D got the win for their team after hitting a 3D on Rhino.

– Bully Ray wants to put Dixie Carter through a table but she won’t come down from the balcony. Fans want to see this too. They tease a fight between Bully and King Mo. Bully promises that he will put Dixie through a table “tonight” on the episode. The ring is cleared and they get ready for another segment.

– King Mo escorts Dixie to the ring. Rhino, Rockstar Spud and EC3 are also there. Apparently Dixie has fired Snitsky and Ezekiel already. They’re interrupted by Dreamer and Team 3D, who bring a table out. A big brawl breaks out but Dixie escapes. The TNA locker room empties out and blocks her from running to the back. They toss her back in the ring and Bully puts her through a table with a Bully Bomb. The crowd popped big time for this. The roster surrounds the six-sided ring on the apron and applauds while Dreamer and 3D are in the ring and Dixie is laid out on the table. Dixie gets stretchered out to end the taping.

– The Hardys vs. The Wolves for the TNA Tag Team Titles is up next. Both teams come out to big pops. The Wolves retain after hitting a powerbomb backstabber combo on Matt Hardy. This was said to be an excellent match and the best one for TNA in a long time.

– DJ Zema Ion vs. Manik vs. Low Ki is next. The winner will qualify for an X Division Title match. This is the first of 3 three-ways. Low Ki wins after a Ki Krusher on Manik. Great match.

– The next three-way is Sanada vs. Brian Cage vs. Crazzy Steve, who came out with The Menagerie. Sanada qualifies after getting the pin on Steve.

An eight-man Extreme Weapons Tag Match is announced for “next week.” Apparently it will be EC3, Rhino, Ezekiel and Snitsky vs. Dreamer, Bully, Devon and a partner.

– Samoa Joe vs. Homicide vs. Tigre Uno is the final three-way. Joe comes out to a big pop as does Homicide. Joe destroyed Tigre and got the pin on Homicide after a Musclebuster. Homicide and Joe followed ROH’s Code of Honor after the match. The vacant X Division Title match will be Joe vs. Low Ki vs. Sanada.

– Austin Aries vs. Bobby Lashley for the World Heavyweight Title is next and is the main event. Aries gets the title shot after giving up his X Division Title “last week.” Lashley retains with a spear after blocking Aries’ finisher.

– Robbie E returns as BroMans come out. Low Ki vs. DJ Zema Ion is next. Low Ki gets the easy win and a big pop.

– Jeff Hardy comes out limping and said we haven’t seen the last of Willow. He brings out Matt Hardy to a pop. A tag team title match is announced for the Destination X tapings.

– In-ring segment with Kurt Angle and Austin Aries. Aries is asked to give up the X Division Title to face Bobby Lashley for the World Heavyweight Title at Destination X. MVP and Lashley were also in the ring. Aries agrees to give up the title and will face Lashley at Destination X.

– The main event is a Street Fight and it’s Devon, Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer vs. Rhino, Ethan Carter III and Rockstar Spud. – MVP and Kenny King come out and cut a promo before facing Eric Young and Bobby Roode. MVP was on crutches but in his wrestling gear and didn’t really wrestle, just hobbled around the ring. Roode and Young win by DQ when MVP uses one of his crutches.

– Brittany vs. Madison Rayne is next. Fans chanted “this match sucks” before it even began. Madison got the win.

– Jeff Hardy vs. Bobby Lashley for the World Heavyweight Title is next. At one point, Hardy did a swanton onto the steel steps outside of the ring. The match barely went 10 minutes and Lashley retained. The fans were very upset at Lashley winning and gave him a lot of heat.

Hernandez Says TNA Blatantly Lied To Him, Doesn’t Know Why He’s Not With Them

The following are highlights of a new Between The Ropes interview with Hernandez:

On why he is no longer with TNA Wrestling with his contract expiring in May: “Maybe you can tell me. I’ll be very honest with you. The last time I was on TNA was November when I had that Feast or Fired match and believe it or not, that is the last time I’ve spoken to anyone in the office. And I’m not even joking. I would send those 365 videos to (Jeremy) Borash every now and then I would get Bob Ryder approval for my indy dates and that’s it. I did not hear anything from anybody since I saw them in Orlando in November.”

On how strange that was: “To be honest, I knew I was still a part of the roster and my check came every month. Periodically I would check the Impact website to see if I was still on there. (laughs) It was definitely a head scratcher right there. Not an email. text, phone call … nothing. In fact, my contract was up May 12th but I thought it was up May 14th. So I woke up May 12th and my timeline was flooded on Twitter that my contract had expired. I looked at my contract and I looked on the (TNA) website and they pulled me off the website, they already unfollowed me on Twitter. (laughs) It was like bizarro world, brother.”

On how difficult it was for him after returning to TNA Wrestling after working in Mexico for nine months and being promised a singles push but instead being paired with Anarquia in Mexican America: “It was very difficult for me because you were blatantly lied to. This wasn’t no miscommunication. I don’t go down to Mexico for nine months of my life and it’s a miscommunication that I’m coming back to a tag deal. When I left, I was a tag champion with Matt Morgan. So, there’s no miscommunication there at all about ‘oh, you’re going to do down there and come back as a tag’. There was no miscommunication, at least on my part. So, of course, there was a lot of animosity on what was going down.”

  • Bully Ray Talks 6-Sided Ring, Fans Bashing TNA, Team 3D In The TNA Hall Of Fame

Busted Open Satellite Radio Show with Bully Ray
Host: Dave Lagreca, Doug Mortman, and Mike Riker

Being inducted into the TNA Hall Of Fame: “First and foremost it’s cool to be inducted into any Hall Of Fame, whether it’s TNA or any other wrestling federation. The response we got in Dallas was really cool. Those people were really happy to see me and Devon back together again and it was the longest and loudest ‘We want tables’ chants I ever heard. When you have a cool moment like that, you need to stop and smell the roses for a minute, then move on.”

His friendship and partnership with D-Von: “Me and D-Von have had a great partnership and friendship for close to 15 years. In 15 years, how many fights or arguments do you think D-Von have I have been in? One. That’s what makes D-Von and I so special. We balance each other out whether it’s in the ring or out of the ring. Team 3D/Dudleys would never have worked with 2 Buh Buhs or 2 D-vons. Booker T gave us a great compliment and said he wished he could get along with his brother as well as me and D-Von get along. That’s what kept us together. I was very happy to see D-Von back in the ring both personally and professionally. I think D-Von is worth a lot to the TNA roster whether he wants to wrestle again or not. I really don’t know if he wants to wrestle again or not. I think he’s really content on running our school in Florida, the Team 3D Academy. It was a great moment and I was really happy for him.”

How He & Devon Lasted So Long As A Team: “If you ask most people, they would say that I’m the hot head and D-Von is the easy going guy. That’s personally. In business, it’s more like I’m Gene Simmons and he’s Paul Stanley. Both playing equal parts, but Gene a little more vocal. In real life though, D-Von would kick your ass faster than I would. We’ve always been friends. That’s what made us successful. We know the history of tag team wrestlers. A lot of them didn’t like each other personally and always had a problem sharing the spotlight. We were never like that. We always knew that we were worth more together than by ourselves.”

Tommy Dreamer’s Feud With Dixie Carter: “It’s no secret that Dreamer and I are best friends in the wrestling business. He will always be my best friend. He booked HOH 4 and 5 in Poughkeepsie and Philly. He wanted D-Von and I to be in the main event of both shows. He was already advertising us, it was a big deal that D-Von and I were gonna be back together. It was all over Twitter and social media and the very night before I get a phone call from a representative of TNA telling me that I have been pulled from both shows and I am now being sent to California to go to the Spike TV Guys Choice Awards. Now a couple of people are gonna say that I’m a bitch and should have just gone to the event. Contractually I can’t because they would have sued me for every dollar I’m worth because my first obligation is TNA contractually, so I have to do what they tell me to do in that way. It wasn’t like they were pulling me off those shows and I was just gonna sit home, which they could not do. They pulled me off to do an obligation for them, and she knew exactly what she was doing. She was gonna screw me over, screw Dreamer over and screw every fan over. Tommy Dreamer would never deliberately screw his fans over. House Of Hardcore has something special and unique going on and he isn’t going to advertise me on his show for two months knowing I was gonna get pulled. That’s really F’ing the people over, and she is responsible for screwing everyone over.”

If The Dreamer-Dixie Carter Social Media Feud Is A Work: “Just because it plays out on TV doesn’t mean it’s a ‘work’. Dreamer stood the most to lose from this, and he did, and he and I are doing everything we can to make it right for the fans. We’ve told people to hang on to their HOH tickets and if they come to the shows in Bethlehem or New York, I’m gonna stay after these shows and I’m gonna meet every fan that comes. I don’t care how long I have to stay. They will get any photos, autographs, meet and greets. I’m gonna do the right thing because she screwed them over. I know you guys look at things where everything is part of the show. This goes a lot farther. There are a couple things I can’t even talk about because I know the ramifications. The bottom line is this was a scumbag move on her part, and she knew what she was doing.”

Losing to EC3: “Listen, say what you want about the kid. He is doing a pretty damn good job. Plenty of room for improvement, but he is lightyears ahead of where I was when I was his age. He’s got the look. He’s getting better on the mic, his physicality, he was able to hang at Slammiversary. You love him, you hate him, from a business standpoint he is an upcoming rising star.”

His Love Life: “My love life is flourishing. Velvety smooth. It’s all good. I’m currently working on a post-show Bully Ray fan appreciation party that I am throwing myself. It’s not sponsored by TNA, it’s all me. I don’t know whether it’s going to be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but I’m working on a party I want to throw for the wrestling fans just to show them that I appreciate their support over the years. I don’t know any other wrestler who threw a party for fans, and everything is going to be on me.”

TNA Possibly Bringing Back The 6-Sided Ring: “I sent out a tweet an hour ago asking the fans what they want to see. 33 Retweets for the 4 side, 262 favorites for the 6 sided, so it looks like the fans that follow me want to see that 6 sided ring back. I think that’s one of the cool things about TNA how they will listen to fans opinions. I don’t know if it’s going to be set in stone, but I do know that TNA looks for fans opinions. I’m more of a traditionalist with the 4 sided ring, it’s just my opinion. If they brought back the 6 sided ring, I would fully embrace it and continue to do what I do. I know some guys that said it was a little more challenging to perform in the 6 sided ring and that it was more difficult to come off the top rope and how the ropes are tighter, so they bruise your body a lot more.”

Fans Bashing TNA & The Future Of The Wrestling Business: “It’s ok if people are opinionated, but at the end of the day we only have two major companies, we have Ring Of Honor and House of Hardcore on the horizon. We need to band together. There’s very little wrestling left. We need to come together and be very positive about the wrestling business because there might not be a business in the future for all of us. TNA is still a relatively young company. The WWE wasn’t a huge company in the first 12 years of business when Vince Sr started it. TNA still has some growing pains and trying to get over the hurdles that many other companies had and we need to find the right mix of people on the team. From a locker room point of view I think we’re there. I think we have the best performers out there. We just need to fire on all cylinders and if Slammiversary is any indication on where this company can go, I think there’s a bright future for us.”

Bobby Lashley Is The New TNA World Champion

TNA sent out the following press release following Thursday’s Impact Wrestling:

TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP CHANGES HANDS

BOBBY LASHLEY WINS TITLE FOR FIRST TIME ON IMPACT WRESTLING LIVE FROM BETHLEHEM, PENN.

BETHLEHEM, Penn. (June 19, 2014) – TNA Superstar, MMA fighter, three-time amateur wrestling Collegiate National Champion and former Army man Bobby Lashley (twitter: @fightbobby) tonight became the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion, defeating reigning champion “Showtime” Eric Young during an explosive episode of IMPACT WRESTLING (Spike TV, 9/8c) broadcast live to millions around the globe from Bethlehem, Penn.

This is the first time the behemoth Lashley has held the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Ranked by “Pro Wrestling Illustrator” as Rookie of the Year in 2005, Lashley has spent nearly a decade dominating the squared circle with his rare mix of size and athleticism. Lashley originally joined TNA in 2009 and after a hiatus returned to the promotion at the “Lockdown” Pay-Per-View event earlier this year. In recent weeks Lashley has joined forces with Director of Wrestling Operations MVP to wreak havoc on the TNA locker room.

Lashley is a decorated amateur and professional wrestler, including:

Tommy Dreamer Blogs On His Angle With Dixie Carter, TNA & House Of Hardcore

Tommy Dreamer wrote the following blog on his official Facebook page regarding Dixie Carter, TNA and House Of Hardcore:

“I want to follow up from my official statement of last week (my last post) . I don’t understand the confusion. I read things on the internet or people send me messages here or on Twitter. When I post something that’s it. When I respond to people that’s it. I have no agenda.

However when I am wrong I gladly admit it. The social media contoversy between myself & Dixie Carter got a lot of attention. Which as I found out on Sunday was unintentionally cause by me. Friday evening after my House of Hardcore 4 show I was thanking all the fans that were hitting me up on Twitter. I was favouring & RTing everything positive about the show(putting myself & the show over isn’t that what we do on there) a fan said what a great time he had and attached a picture of my crowd. It had her name attached w/a curse towards her. Thats ok she & I have thick skin however this came to my phone. I was informed Sunday the picture also included a photo of their show the same night. I checked my laptop & they were right. I have no clue how that happened but I would never do that intentionally. I wouldn’t gloat over my show over theirs.I would never throw it in somebodys face To be honest if she would have Tweeted Sundays PPV over 4000 attendence compared to my Sat West Coast House of Hardcore show I would have been pissed as well.

    So here are the facts

1.Bully Ray was pulled from my show I was pissed. I feel petty politics played a part

2.I called her a b*tch at my show I was mad & feel the past business relationship we had it was bad for my & her buisness

3.I APOLOGIZE for the tweet. & when you hit me up on Twitter that Monday I didn’t know you were mad but when someone fires a shot at me I go back at them. That’s who I am.

4.I would have loved to telll her this to her face I asked to speak w/her on Sunday it didnt happen. Whether she was busy or didn’t want to it is what it is.

5.saw her later after the show in the restraunt. Wasn’t the place to talk. Hopefully everything is fine.

Bottom line I want WWE TNA ROH HOUSE OF HARDCORE NEW JAPAN & EVERY INDEPENDENT COMPANY TO DO WELL. I was as proud of Sundays PPV like it was my own show & my own money on the line. I love helping out there The people mean everything to me. The wrestling buisness is a better place without politics being a factor. If everyone strives the industry & most importantly the wrestlers & wrestling fans benefit. (And yes I’m doing this on a Monday because of the high level of wrestler traffic derr remember the Monday Night wars i had 2 VCRs rolling at once)

Social Media has definitely changed how we watch tv (hell it changed the Main Event of WrestleMania) Everyone can post their opinion. You need to be accountable for your actions & statements. So there is my accountabilty & statement.”

  • Kazarian Speaks On ROH Being Bigger Than TNA, ROH On PPV, TNA Problems

The following are highlights of a new Busted Open Radio interview with Frankie Kazarian:

On ROHs PPV “Best In The World” and Bad Influence getting back together: “I’m so excited for the PPV. Ring Of Honor arguably has the best roster of just pure raw talented wrestlers. From top to bottom in singles, tag teams, heavyweights and lightweights. They’re presenting a really good product right now and throwing Chris and myself in there I think is gonna add a little extra to the product, and I’m really excited for it.”

On what influenced him to jump to Ring Of Honor: “It’s just a matter of wanting new challenges. 16 years in the business there is not a lot of things you can do that is fresh or for the first time. Knowing that Chris and I haven’t scratched the surface on what we can do as a tag team both in and out of the ring. Looking at Ring Of Honor and looking at the group of guys they got, everyone including the guys behind the scenes working so hard to make the best product possible. It was almost a no brainer for us to move on to that phase of our career.”

On if there’s anything left he wants to accomplish in his 16 year career: “I want to be the world champion. Whatever company I’m with I want to eventually be the world champion. Obviously the first goal in Ring Of Honor is to win the tag team titles. Being world champion is why you get in the wrestling business. It’s the top of the mountain. Set your goals as high as you can and work your way to achieve them. Wherever I am I want to be at the top. So yeah, there are things I want to accomplish in the business, but I’ve accomplished more than I ever thought I would. When you stop setting goals, working to achieve things and are just working for a paycheck because it’s your job, that’s when you probably should move on.”

On whether Ring Of Honor could be the number two wrestling company behind WWE: “That all depends on things like the TV distributions, but that’s not in the hands of the wrestlers. In a perfect scenario, if the distribution were to grow for Ring Of Honor and if it were available in more regions, who knows? The wrestling and the product can hold it’s own. A lot of things factor in to that that I thankfully have no control over. I’m happy being a wrestler. That’s up to the powers that be and with the buzz that Ring Of Honor has right now, that could happen.”

On his thoughts on TNA going cold on Bad Influence quickly: “I mean at first, yes, I was surprised just because I feel like we weren’t having bad matches and bad segments and we were never told we were doing otherwise. We were just told ‘You guys are doing great, but we’re going with this team and this direction.’ OK that was fine. It didn’t make us work less hard, but eventually after a while we thought that they weren’t going to come back to us. I understand you need to cycle everyone through and you have a large roster of guys and teams, but every once in a while some guys need to come up from the water to catch some air. I didn’t get it. I was never going question our abilities, because I knew we were good. You just wonder what you did wrong and when you don’t get the answers to the questions you ask, sometimes you just shrug and put your hands up. To find out why, I guess you just need to ask them, because I don’t know.”

On TNA not getting out of the funk they are in: “I put a lot of myself into TNA and I enjoyed my time there. There will always be a part of me in that company. It’ll always be home for me. They just decided to go in a different direction and got rid of a lot of guys that were famous for that company. I’m sure they have a plan and know what direction they are going in, and I hope it plans out well for them. It’s just a direction that doesn’t involve us and I’m cool with that. Honestly, I want them to do good. I don’t want any wrestling company to go on a downward spiral.”

On other alternatives and companies to work for as a wrestler: “WWE is always going to be number one, at least in my life time. That’s just the way it is unless there is something drastic that happens. There are many alternatives and there are places putting on great shows. Jeff Jarrett and his new promotion is great. Anything Jarrett puts his name on I think will be great for the business. It’s a fun time to be a wrestler and a wrestling fan. The indy scene is loaded with talented guys and I think it’s been the most loaded it’s been in the last 10-12 years.”

On his thoughts on Bully and D-Von getting into the TNA Hall Of Fame and whether he would like to be inducted as well: “I didn’t know about that, so congrats to Bubba and D-Von. They deserve it. When I think of Hall Of Fame I always think of old, retired football players. It’s hard to even fathom that a guy my age in his mid 30’s could be inducted. You look at who’s in TNAs Hall Of Fame and there are some guys there that have done some amazing things in their careers. You got the icon Sting, Kurt Angle who’s arguably the best wrestler in the world and now Team 3D, one of the best tag teams of all time. Hopefully they continue to put guys in that made TNA what it is today.”
