Tara Talks About Impact Going On The Road, Trish Stratus’ WWE HOF Induction & More

TNA Knockout Tara recently spoke to Kevin Kellam of Examiner.com. Here are some highlights of what she said about:

The feeling in TNA with IMPACT going on the road: “Our fans get spoiled and callused. They want to see us draw blood. In Orlando, thank god we are going on the road, our fans in Orlando got a little bit spoiled because they see us every week, but we were out there killing ourselves for entertainment. We are actresses and actors who do our stunts with drama. And when they don’t react to certain things, it’s like my God, what do you want me to do?!”

If it was becoming an issue in Orlando: “Not for like my bosses. It’s just that we feed off the fans, we feed off their reactions. It becomes stale (without those reactions). And now we get to see fresh faces and that’s why it’s nice to go overseas too. I am just excited about going on the road, you have no idea. We don’t want ‘hush hush’ fans. It’s nice to hear everything, I have a problem where I can hear everything in the first couple rows. And if I hear someone cheering for my opponent. I am going to go out there and freaking tell them like it is. I am very fan-interactive. That’s a big part of TNA.”

Trish Stratus being inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame and if she will attend: “Oh she so deserves it! I am going to be honest with you, I wish I could induct her. I was in WWE. I am proud to be a part of WWE history, and now I am with TNA, there is no rivalry between companies for me. I love both companies but I am super proud of her, she deserves it for ‘the Golden era’. She also reached out and called me and said thank you, you helped me be inducted because we had hellacious matches. That’s a true professional, she appreciates who got her there. I would love to be there, but I don’t know how both companies would feel. Honestly, I am super proud. I love her, we are best friends.”

TNA Impact Rating Drops, Kevin Nash Knocks The Aces & Eights Storyline

– Thursday’s TNA Impact Wrestling drew a 1.0 rating with 1,412,000 viewers, down from 1,580,000 the week before.

– Kevin Nash recently tweeted the following about the Aces and 8s storyline:

“Taz has an iron clad contract, that allows him to interact in felony acts and keep his job.Why don’t they raise 4 fingers on each hand? Ouch!”

“That’s all I wanted to comment about, story line is getting weak buy adding sub mid card players, history always repeats itself.”

“I love watching pro wrestling, not trying to s–t on the product.Just feel the show should revolve around Angle.who would kill the crew”

Hulk Hogan Makes Some Newsworthy Remarks About Dixie Carter & The TNA Roster

During a recent interview with the UK’s Daily Star newspaper, Hulk Hogan made some interesting comments about Dixie Carter’s role as the leader of TNA Wrestling and her vision for the company’s direction.

“It’s either hold ’em or fold ’em. You’re either in the wrestling business or not. Is Dixie Carter really in the wrestling business, or this is just a hobby? You either make the move or you don’t. You’re at that point now. It’s the same place we were with WCW – you either run with the big dogs or be a little dog and stay on the porch. The destiny of this company is in her hands. It can stay TNA, a powerful little company, or she can make the decision to move on to greatness.”

Hogan says that TNA made some good decisions recently by cutting back on their number of pay-per-view  events and finally taking Impact on the road.

“To limit to four major PPVs will give us a chance to make the wrestlers more important to give the fans a chance to choose who they love. I think it gives you a chance to sink your teeth into the characters and the company.”

Hulk Hogan says that many of the wrestlers currently on the roster would be “bagging groceries” back when he was headlining shows (awesome), but the business has changed and he admits it’s for the better:

“Twenty years ago most of the wrestlers who are in this business now wouldn’t even be here. They’d be bagging groceries somewhere. When I was wrestling I was a medium sized guy. King Kong Bundy was 450 and John Studd was 400 and Earthquake was 400 and Andre was 550 and I was 330, Don Muracco was 300lbs.”

The business has changed and it’s for the better. It’s more exciting because the guys can do more moves and are more athletic than we were.”

Jeff Hardy Interview: Critics Saying TNA Is Full Of Washed Up WWE Wrestlers, How Hulk Hogan Has Helped TNA

MLive.com has an interview with TNA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy, who was promoting the upcoming TNA live event in Detroit on Friday, February 22nd. Here are just a few highlights from the interview:

Critics who say that TNA is filled with washed up former WWE wrestlers trying to collect a paycheck: “You know, I’m not sure. We’re way different than WWE. We may never be as big as WWE, but the cool thing about TNA is that we are the alternative. So people who get tired and bored with the WWE – I’ve been there, I understand – there’s an alternative and something else to watch. For special wrestlers, there’s somewhere else to go – as long as you’re not brainwashed by that WWE mentality. There’s other worlds out there; it’s OK to switch around.”

How Hulk Hogan has Helped TNA: “Just being Hulk Hogan and here in TNA is huge; Sting is here, too. They’re big-time involved with the younger guys whether its advice their style, compliments on a good job or giving some kind of direction. They are big-time involved and I think it definitely helps to have them and their knowledge here to help these guys that (previously) didn’t get it that much. It helps slow them down and work smarter. Even just character-wise, they help all talent here.”

TNA’s Future: “The sky is the limit. There’s so many talent guys here. I’ve worked with Austin Aries several times, Bobby Roode; those guys are phenomenal. There’s guys like A.J. Styles; he’s unbelievable. These kinds of guys are just getting it done, man. And when they do get the chances, they take full advantage. It just takes time, the product is going to get better and better. I don’t know what the next five or 10 years will bring, but I definitely think TNA will continue to grow. I’m not sure where exactly it’s going or how it’s going to be but it’s definitely going to be changing the game.”

Much more is contained in the interview, including Hardy discussing Sting and The Ultimate Warrior influencing his career, doing yoga, the rise of the UFC, the ups and downs in his career and more. You can check out the full interview by clicking here.

TNA Officially Announces Impact Wrestling Is Hitting The Road

TNA issued the following press release on Thursday announcing that Impact Wrestling will be hitting the road with their first-ever live taping from Chicago on March 14th:

TNA TAKES THURSDAY NIGHT “IMPACT WRESTLING” ON THE ROAD

Chicago tapped for televised live show to air on Spike TV

Nashville, Tenn. (Jan. 31, 2012) – TNA’s IMPACT WRESTLING today announced that it will begin filming all “IMPACT WRESTLING” programming on the road as part of their 2013 television programming strategy. “IMPACT WRESTLING” airs every Thursday on Spike TV (8/7 CT), and is regularly one of the network’s top-rated shows. The first live televised show will be March 14 from the Sears Centre Arena in Chicago.

For the past 8 years, “IMPACT WRESTLING” has been filmed on the largest soundstage at Universal Studios Orlando. The final two shows to be filmed from the “Impact Zone” at Universal will be February 28 and March 7.

“This is a tremendous step forward for TNA,” stated TNA President Dixie Carter. “Fans from around the world have been coming to us at Universal for more than 8 years to be a part of the ‘IMPACT WRESTLING’ audience. It’s now time for us to take the ‘IMPACT WRESTLING’ television cameras to them. This is a very important next evolution for the company, and I’m excited that the backdrop to the show will feature our great fans in larger arenas around the country and world.

“We are so grateful to Universal for being such fantastic partners and look forward to finding other ways to work together in the future,” Carter added.

“Taking ‘IMPACT WRESTLING’ on the road to the fans is yet another example of Dixie and her incredible team expanding their horizons to deliver the most exciting and action-packed wrestling product on the market,” said Spike TV President Kevin Kay.

Kicking off the start to “IMPACT WRESTLING” on the road will be the triumphant return to Chicago and the Sears Centre Arena on March 14. Chicago’s Sears Centre Arena was home to “Bound For Glory 2008” setting, at the time, the highest TNA attendance record.

Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 8 at the Sears Centre Arena box office and at www.SearsCentre.com. (Doors will open on Thursday, March 14 at 6 p.m. and bell time at 7 p.m.).

Brooke & Bully’s Marital Status, Why Taz Joined Aces & Eights, Impact Opening

– Bully Ray and Brooke Hogan are married according to TNA storylines, despite the fact that they were never pronounced husband and wife to the attack by Aces & Eights. There was reportedly a lot of internal confusion in TNA as to whether they were married in TNA storylines, with even Hulk Hogan tweeting after the wedding that even though he got beat down by Aces & Eights, “Taz screwed everyone, the one good thing was the wedding came to an immediate halt, thank God. HH.”

– The reason TNA announcer Taz turned heel and joined Aces & Eights is because the company wanted a surprise person to break up the Brooke Hogan wedding and they wanted the faction to have a strong talker on their side. The downside of Taz working as a heel with Aces & Eights is that the neck injury which ended his career also prevents him from doing anything physical in TNA.

– Here is the opening for tonight’s Impact Wrestling:

Dixie Carter Talks About Taking Impact On The Road, What She Knew About Wrestling Before Buying TNA

TNA President Dixie Carter spoke with the UK’s The American about a number of topics. Here are some highlights:

Her Knowledge of Wrestling Prior to Buying TNA: “I watched wrestling when I was younger. I lived in Dallas, Texas so the Von Erichs were a very big deal, and my brother and I used to watch Saturday morning wrestling, but before I got involved with TNA I had not watched the kind of modern day wrestling. At that time it was only WWE that was television.

TNA’s Success in the UK: “The British market has been essential to our success – absolutely essential – because I think it’s our first market where we’ve not only been competitive with our main competitor, but have actually had more success in television ratings and things like that. The UK was our first real break-through market and it has given us so much and helped build a great foundation on which we’ve been able to build worldwide.”

Taking TNA Impact On The Road Each Week: “That is the goal starting this year. We’re close to making a big announcement, another one besides the PPVs, which I think will have a great impact on the show, pun intended. Taking the show on the road is the natural next step for us. It’s expensive touring and it’s not that I haven’t wanted to be on the road but it’s a business decision just like losing the PPVs. I’m not going to put this company in any financial trouble, so everything we have done has been very conscious, people were saying we weren’t going to stay in business for ten weeks and here we are going into our 11th year and having more success than ever and that’s because we make good business decisions.”

Thursday’s Impact episode was taped last week in Manchester, England and there were no reports of an announcement made for the live crowd, so the announcement will be edited into the show.

Hulk Hogan Talks About Wrestling Again, How Hulkamania Changed Wrestling & More

TNA star Hulk Hogan recently spoke to Sky News Radio to promote TNA’s UK tour. Here are some highlights of what Hogan said about:

Wrestling Again: “Well, I’ve learned in this business to never say never. As time goes by, I live vicariously through the younger talent. I was telling my wife Jennifer the other day that I’m in the U.K. and I can’t believe that I’m not ego-talking and I’m not the main event. I can’t believe I’m not wrestling Kurt Angle or I can’t believe I’m not wrestling Jeff Hardy.

“But, that was just the young heart talking. Then, I took a good look in the mirror and I realized that the old man couldn’t do it. I mean, I never say never. If there was a situation where my daughter Brooke might get in a bad spot or something goes awry, you never know. I could roll in there, pick up a steel chair or throw a punch or something. So, you can never say never.”

How Wrestling Changed When He Won The WWF Title From The Iron Sheik 29 Years Ago: “It was more than just my career, it was the turning point of the wrestling business to switch gears and fast-forward into the entertainment direction.

“It started with the world title on the line at Madison Square Garden: Hulk Hogan vs. The Iron Sheik. It was the pefect storm. Iron Sheik had just beaten the mainstay, Bob Backlund, who had been champion for five years. America was at conflict with Iran/Iraq as far as the political situation between the countries. Hulk Hogan was viewed as the American hero and all the elements lead to the very, very perfect confrontation between good vs. evil.

“But, what came out of that was a different performance level. It wasn’t just a wrestling match with good vs. bad with good prevailing. it was the birth of entertainment in this business. As I looked to the crowd, the look and the reaction from the crowd got just as much as acknowledgment as the move in the ring.

“As soon as I realized how important it was to interact with the crowd, I changed my whole mindset as far as my work in the ring. I realized that the crowd was living vicariously through me. I better acknowledge them and not just stay focused on my opponent. So, it was kind of like the beginning of the entertainment being born that day.”

Working with Paul Orndorff in front of 70,000+ Fans in Toronto: “Yeah, that night especially caught everyone off guard. I had never worked at the CNE Center and I figured we’d have 6,000-7,000 people. When we got there and it was 70,000+, I went, ‘Oh, my God.’ That was a nice surprise.

“But, I knew the chemistry was there with Paul Orndorff. It just depended on him and how good of a businessman he wanted to be and how big it could have gotten. Paul Orndorff was a businessman. He got a little stubborn at times, but basically he was a businessman and we did consistent business.

“His work was just so incredibly good. It was good and bad for me (because) I felt like I had been in a car wreck when I got out of the ring working with him. But, his stuff was so good, solid and intense that he just knew how to really turn that dial up and make people believe and make people hate him. Which made it easier for me as far as selling, making huge comebacks and making the buildings rattle.

“So, he was an on-going opponent that I made a ton of money with. He was really good at what he did.”

Wrestlers That He Never Worked Big Programs With: “Yeah, there was a situation because there was so many people to choose from. There was the ‘Macho Man’ and Kamala, who did great business everywhere. There was Bob Orton, Jr., Don Morocco. There were tons of guys — Earthquake, One Man Gang — I could go on and on.

“There were several guys where there would be a feel in the ring or you could tell right away. That’s how everything worked with me, I had to hear it and feel it with the instinct thing.

“I got into a situation with Jake ‘The Snake’ where he had his Piper’s Pit, I don’t know if the name of the show was The Snake Pit. It was an interview show. We did something there which was the beginning of a major story line for Jake and myself. We went to Providence and we worked one night and that was pretty much it. It was like we were at a funeral.

“I just kind of realized that something wasn’t clicking and we kind of move on and moved passed it. … I don’t know what it was. There was a Hulk Hogan style at the time that was real easy and there were several trains of thought with probably about six or seven ways to go to make things perfect.

“For some reason, Jake and I did not fit in any of those categories. I tried my best and he tried his best but we just couldn’t dance with each other. It wasn’t right. I just didn’t want to run this thing out for six months to a year when there were so many other people like the ‘Macho Man’ and everybody else and it was so red-hot. So, it just didn’t work for whatever reason.”

Hulk Hogan Tweets Creepy Picture Of Brooke’s Legs

Hulk Hogan tweeted a photo of his daughter Brooke in a revealing dress along with the accompanying caption, “Brooke’s legs.” After getting bombarded with tweets about how unbelievably creepy that is, the photo was quickly taken down from image hosting site Lockerz.com – but not before we got a screenshot!

A Twitter search of “Brooke’s Legs” shows hundreds of comments from fans wondering what the Hulkster was thinking. Frankly, we are wondering the same thing.

What do you suppose Ron Simmons would have to say about this?

Hulk Hogan Talks About Brooke Wrestling

Hulk Hogan talked to Ireland’s Xpose Entertainment this week about his daughter Brooke Hogan getting in the ring:

“It’s my worst nightmare! But she’s really good, she’s really good in front of the camera, she’s a really great actress, she has great timing, she’ll take a half a breath and respond instead of having that knee-jerk reaction to what’s going on which is what most wrestlers do. It’s a pleasure working with her on camera, but my greatest fear has always been the evils of this business, and her getting in too deep and becoming full-time and getting hurt. I’d just hate to see that after what I’ve been through. And her passion is still music, she’s a songwriter now and she loves doing that.”

“She’s been in the ring one time messing about and she loved it – which scared me to death! I can understand it, it’s very addictive. Part of it is because I’m her father and part of it is that if you do get in the ring and take a few bumps it’s like being addicted to chocolate or drugs, you either like it or you don’t, it’s very addictive and I think she got into the ring and she loved it.”

“She’s been asking me about it and I told her, ‘Look Brooke you’re not 18 anymore you’re 24 so do what you want to do.’ If she does do it then it will probably be fun to watch but the business is tough.”
