Jeff Hardy’s Main Event Push In TNA, Bound For Glory Movie Theater Info

– Bound for Glory will be airing in 113 theaters across the United States on Sunday, October 14th. The pre-show will air live at 7:30pm (EST) prior to the PPV.

– There are a few reasons why Jeff Hardy won this year’s Bound For Glory Series and got the main event spot against Austin Aries at TNA’s biggest show of the year. Aside from the fact that Hardy’s contract is expiring in February and TNA wants to keep him happy, Hardy’s drawing power is considered the main factor.

TNA expects Hardy to drive pay-per-view and movie theater sales for the show – and many more mainstream fans are willing to throw down money for Jeff Hardy (over James Storm, who was also in the running for the main event spot). TNA is also hopeful that merchandise, live event ticket sales and television ratings will go up with the company building a major program around Jeff Hardy.

Update On Impact Wrestling Remaining Live On Spike Through 2013

As reported earlier this week, Impact Wrestling will remain live on Spike TV each week through December, except for a few weeks when the show will be pre-taped due to holidays.

There has been no official announcement made by Spike TV, but the current plan is for Impact to run live through early 2013.

Impact’s ratings have not improved since going live, but Spike TV is said to be pleased with the show and sees Impact as being a strong lead-in to their 10pm (ET) MMA programming. Currently, Spike airs MMA Uncensored immediately following Impact. In January, it’s expected that Spike’s Bellator MMA promotion will have a show that will air in that post-Impact time slot.

The September 6th episode of MMA Uncensored featuring an appearance from former WWE superstar Batista drew 669,000 viewers – nearly triple what the show usually does. Aside from Batista’s own drawing power, the rating is partially being credited to viewers of Impact tuning in.

Jeff Hardy Interested In Returning To WWE

With Jeff Hardy’s TNA contract set to expire in early 2013, there are some rumblings that the Charismatic Enigma is interested in returning to the organization where he first gained international fame, WWE.

Hardy has gotten great reviews behind the scenes in TNA over the past year, having cleaned up his act and been a “model employee.” With the various legal troubles he’s had in recent years, Hardy reportedly wants to have one more big run in WWE, where he can make a lot of money for the final chapter of his storied career.

Jeff Hardy won the TNA Bound For Glory series and is scheduled to wrestle Austin Aries for the TNA World Championship in the main event of this year’s Bound For Glory. It’s believed that Hardy was given this opportunity as a way to keep him happy.

Hardy remains the top seller of merchandise in TNA and is one of the company’s top draws. TNA really wants to keep Jeff Hardy and might even give him a run with the World title as a way to keep him on board.

Matt Morgan Crashes Another TNA Live Event, Kurt Angle Working Injured

– Matt Morgan crashed another TNA live event this weekend from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Morgan came down through the crowd during a match between Miss Tessmacher and Tara, arguing with Atlas Security before taking a seat at ringside.

Later in the evening, Morgan got physical after the Jeff Hardy vs. James Storm match ended in a time limit draw. As fans were chanting for the match to continue, Morgan leveled referee Brian Stifler with his Carbon Footprint kick. Morgan got a huge pop from the crowd and was removed from the arena by security.

– Kurt Angle worked the Wilkes-Barre, PA Show and wrestled twice, despite an injury to either his knee or his hamstring (there are conflicting reports on this). Angle worked a short match against Daniels early in the night and teamed with AJ Styles and Austin Aries in the main event against Bobby Roode, Daniels and Kazarian. AJ Styles and Austin Aries helped Angle to the back after the match and Angle did not take part in the post-show autograph signing event, as advertised.

Angle tweeted on Monday:

Kurt Angle On Whether Austin Aries Is To Small To Be TNA Champion & More

Kurt Angle recently spoke to ChadDukesWrestlingShow.com about whether he’s still interested in MMA, helping young talent get over, whether Austin Aries is too small to be TNA World champion & more. Here are some highlights of what Angle said about:

Whether he’s still interested in competing in mixed martial arts: “The last time I talked was two and a half years ago with Dana White, I took the UFC physical. We just couldn’t come to terms on a starting time. I wanted it 3-6 months, Dana needed me in four and a half weeks and I understand he wanted me to be ready and he needed me at that point and it just wasn’t gonna work out.”

When asked whether White had an opponent in mind for Angle, he responded, “Well, they wanted me to be on Ultimate Fighter but I told them I wouldn’t do it for free. So he came up with a very nice deal, that being I would get paid very well for that, thank god, and a 6 fight deal. I didn’t want to go in there half prepared. I wanted to go in there full blown. I’m 43 now, I tried out for the Olympics or I was going to and I got injured five different times last year. So my body’s just not holding up the way I want it to so I don’t think it’s going to be a possibility.”

On being the go-to guy in assisting new talent in getting over: “I really enjoyed it, I took it as a compliment. At TNA they did the same thing. They’d bring in somebody like the Pope or Mr. Anderson or whoever else that was coming in that was coming from WWE or had somewhat of a name, the first program they’d do would be with me. I’ve always enjoyed that it’s a good challenge and Desmond Wolfe was another one that came from Ring of Honor. So I like that and I know that the company has faith in me. Both WWE did and TNA had the faith in me to make the guys look as good as I could.”

Whether Austin Aries is too small to be TNA World Heavyweight Champion: “No. I think Austin Aries as champion, I think he deserves it, he’s an awesome talent. Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero, unfortunately their tragedies really damaged the ability for smaller guys to step up and become champions. I don’t know why but I think they were just unfortunate. I don’t think it was because of their size, I think they were just terrible tragedies that happened with both those families and it’s gotten a little bit of a bad reputation now, the under 6 foot club and I don’t think it should be that way. I think any size is a good size.”

WWE Reportedly Steering Clear Of All Recent TNA Talent

Don’t expect the likes of Alex Shelley, Velvet Sky, Devon, Angelina Love or even Hall of Famer Ric Flair to pop up in a WWE ring anytime soon. According to Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer, Vince McMahon’s company is steering clear of any and all recently affiliated TNA Wrestling talent while the two grappling organizations do battle in court.

On May 23, 2012, TNA Entertainment, LLC. filed a lawsuit in Nashville, Tennessee against World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. and Brian Wittenstein, a former office worker for both organizations. TNA accused WWE of obtaining secret contract information in an attempt to poach their talent in violation of Tennessee’s Uniform Trade Secrets Act.

Wittenstein, who worked for TNA Wrestling for three years, was terminated on August 3, 2011. At that time, he entered into a Separation Agreement and General Release, preventing him from disclosing certain confidential TNA information. TNA alleges that Wittenstein violated the agreement by downloading confidential TNA trade secrets and providing that information to WWE after joining the organization months later. Although WWE fired Wittenstein and alerted TNA officials as to the disclosure of the information, TNA claims WWE waited three weeks to notify them and has used the confidential information, including data regarding wrestler compensation, to recruit contracted TNA talent to work for WWE. Wittenstein’s contract with TNA had specifically ordered that he not share confidential information about the organization after his employment ceased.

Matt Morgan, who had teased joining WWE since concluding his contractual obligations to TNA in June, resurfaced at Saturday’s house show in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Dressed in street clothes, Morgan entered the ring through the crowd and laid out Robbie E. Meltzer wrote on the F4WOnline.com message board regarding Morgan’s apparently renewed partnership with TNA, “I guess that tells you about that TNA lawsuit now since they didn’t take Morgan.”

It has also been speculated that Alex Shelley and Ric Flair could wind up in WWE now that both individuals are free agents. Meltzer, however, reveals that the organization is not negotiating with either talent despite being legally able to.

“Nobody is talking about Shelley and they won’t even officially talk to Flair even though his non-compete is up,” he wrote.

Following the lawsuit filing, it was reported that TNA was looking to cut costs by restructuring talent contracts when they expired. This ploy appears to have led to the respective departures of Devon and Velvet Sky since both talents reportedly left the organization due to their financial terms not being reached on new deals.

Rob Terry Says He Wants To Be The Face Of TNA Wrestling, Brooke Hogan Changes Her Look

– Though presently the bodyguard for TNA Wrestling star Robbie E, Rob Terry aspires to come into his own and become the star attraction of the Orlando-based promotion.

“My goal in the wrestling world is to become the Impact Wrestling world heavyweight champion and the face of Impact Wrestling,” he told BodyBuilding.com in an interviews. “I’d love to meet as many of my loyal supporters as I can. Impact Wrestling has some of the best fans in the world.”

He also revealed that his dream opponent is Hulk Hogan. Regarding “The Hulkster,” he states, “He has done so much in this industry and was one of the first wrestlers to inspire me.”

The 6-foot-5, 295 pounds grappler uses bodybuilding to hone his massive physique and competitive edge. He says of his overall philosophy on training, “My philosophy on training boils down to one thing and one thing only: intensity. Intensity is what I bring to the wrestling ring and to the weight room; it’s what takes me out of my comfort zone and pushes me to the next level. There are many training routines out there. People tend to jump from one program to another. I believe that no matter what program you’re using, if you apply intensity, believe in what you’re doing, and give 100%, you’re going to grow.”

Terry also reveals his workout routine, his biggest lifts, how he wound up in TNA Wrestling and more. The full interview is available here.

– Brooke Hogan, Executive in Charge of TNA Wrestling’s Knockouts division, is going for a new look. She tweeted the following photo of herself with black hair.

Kurt Angle Interview – Whether Austin Aries Is Too Small To Be TNA Champion, Is He Still Interested In MMA?

Speaking to ChadDukesWrestlingShow.com, Kurt Angle discussed his movie career, various stars of TNA Wrestling talents, wrestlers small in stature being involved in the heavyweight championship scene and whether he still aspires to compete in mixed martial arts. Highlights from the interview are as follows:

Matt Morgan Makes Surprise Appearance At TNA House Show, Hulk Hogan Addresses Devon and TV Title

– Matt Morgan, who has not appeared at a TNA Wrestling event since June, made a surprise appearance at Saturday’s house show in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Dressed in street clothes, Morgan entered the ring through the crowd and laid out Robbie E.

Following the appearance, Morgan posted another one of his trademark cryptic messages on Twitter, stating, “All 2nite really meant was I’m tired of “just be patient Matt”, being patronized & most of all being SOLD DREAMS! The real question is……Who am I with? Time will tell. ‘Til then,Tick-Tock….”

Hours before the appearance, Morgan teased appearances in either Chicago, Boston and Pennsylvania, where Ring of Honor, WWE and TNA Wrestling are respectively holding events this weekend: “Lots of great wrestling this weekend. Chicago………Boston…….Pennsylvania……. Who knows where il show up!”

– On Twitter, Hulk Hogan was asked about the status of Devon and the TNA Television Championship. He responded, “I have no idea, I asked Dixie and she said she’s working on it brother.”

Devon is no longer affiliated with TNA Wrestling after his contract expired in late August.

Katarina “Winter” Waters Discusses Leaving TNA Wrestling, “Incest” Gimmick In WWE, Drugging Angelina Love

Katarina “Winter” Waters was a guest on this week’s “Running The Ropes” hosted by Brian Bertand & Chris Kelly , which can be heard on http://www.snsradionetwork.com & http://www.unchained-wwe.com, and below are some of the highlights:

Her thoughts on the teased incest angle between Paul Burchill and herself: “I can’t exactly remember who (came up with the idea), it was put to us by one of the agents and honestly, I thought it was a great idea. I was totally for it and I thought it could have been cool, something like “The Crow” where you have the bad guy with the sister and they teased that incest thing. It has that ambivalent “you don’t know if it is happening or isn’t happening” feeling but people are kind excited about it. Any incest angle that has been on any kind of television had amazing ratings as people are fascinated by anything that is a little taboo. I thought we were lucky to have a storyline that would have been a little “on the edge” but unfortunately, with the whole PG thing, it got nixed.”

The idea behind the “drugging “Angelina Love storyline: “It’s about the lingering effects. It’s like when you take a drug a lot (to a point) where certain parts of your brain with simulate to the effects of the drug and it might change you forever. So seeing as I was drugging Angelina and putting her under my hypnotic spell, eventually it just so happened her brain altered itself in tune with the drug.”

Her feelings about her 18 day Knockout’s title reign last year before dropping it to Mickie James then regaining it: “Honestly, I thought it was kind of pointless with the little switch-a-roo in between. Sometimes it’s worth building the storyline with one person holding the championship for a little longer. The same thing happened when Velvet (Sky) won it (at Bound For Glory), she was built up at the top babyface and finally she won it and she dropped it immediately and I felt like it was kind of weird.”

Her thoughts on leaving TNA Wrestling and if she is happier now she has left: “I’m happier because I’m making the transition into acting to where I don’t want to be restricted by contacts or obligations to a wrestling company. I still love wrestling but in terms of having a career, I’m not going to have a career in wrestling now, I’m going to have a career in acting. I don’t want a thing that could stand in the way of that number one, and number two, I don’t want to constantly be on the road and constantly traveling for wrestling as I don’t want to get injured.”

Other subjects covered in the interview include her thoughts on the state of the Knockouts, Vince Russo, what movies she has upcoming and much more. The full audio is available here beginning at the 1 hour 29 minute mark.

TNA Officially Drops Two Wrestlers From Their Roster, Carlito Weighs In On The X Division

– TNA Wrestling has parted ways with two British talents in Mark Haskins and Winter, PWInsider.com reports. The organization released Haskins from his contract and opted not to renew the former Women’s Knockout Champion’s deal after it expired last week. Both individuals have been removed from the company website’s roster page, thus confirming their respective departures.

Haskins had not appeared for the promotion since a January 2012 Impact Wrestling taping in his home country where he lost to Austin Aries in an X Division Championship Match. During the match, Haskins suffered a concussion and a neck injury, rendering him inactive for several months.

Winter’s official fansite, K-Waters.net, first announced last week that she had parted ways with the company. The website stated, “Just wanted to make an update and let everyone know Kat’s contract with TNA is officially up! Which means she is free to do DVDs, bookings, iPPVs, and whatever else! If interested please send emails to infamousbookings@hotmail.com.”

– During Thursday’s episode of Impact Wrestling, former WWE Superstar Carlito joked on Twitter that TNA should favor Rob Terry and his ilk over wrestlers of the X Division.

“This TNA Xdivision should be eliminated! Nobody wants to see entertaining lil athletic wrestlers that can actually wrestle anymore!” he wrote. “We should start a petition to get rob terry a mega push! All he needs is another layer of fake tanner & 20 oz more of baby oil! C’mon TNA!”

Bound For Glory Main Event, Impact Post-Show, TJ Perkins’ TNA Tryout

– The main event for TNA Bound For Glory on October 14th will be TNA World Heavyweight champion Austin Aries vs. Jeff Hardy. Hardy won the 2012 Bound For Glory Series and successfully defended his title shot against Bully Ray on Thursday’s Impact Wrestling.

– Former ROH star TJ Perkins wrestled a dark match prior to Thursday’s Impact Wrestling (as “Puma”), losing to X Division Champion Zema Ion. ROHWorld.com reports that Perks has been released from his ROH contract, so he’s probably free to sign with TNA now.

– Here is this week’s Impact Wrestling post show hosted by Jeremy Borash, featuring appearances from Taryn Terrell, Bully Ray, Daniels, Pat Kenney and Al Snow:

TNA Stars To AAA, Indy Wrestler Getting TNA Tryout Tonight, Rosita Update

– Independent wrestler TJ Perkins is scheduled to receive a tryout match at tonight’s TNA Impact Wrestling in Orlando.

– Earlier this week, TNA Knockout Rosita’s photos were removed from the official TNA website, which led to speculation that she was no longer with the company. Her pictures are now back online, so her status with the company remains unclear.

– Jeff Jarrett, Abyss and TNA X Division Champion Zema Ion are scheduled for the upcoming AAA Heroes en Immortales show on October 6th. There has been talk of Zema Ion wrestling Juventud Guerrera for the AAA Cruiserweight Title, but that match is not confirmed yet.

Bobby Roode Talks About His Feud With Austin Aries & The State of Tag Team Wrestling

Bobby Roode joined ChadDukesWrestlingShow.com and 106.7 The Fan/CBS Radio DC’s Chad Dukes for an interview at September 1st’s TNA Basebrawl event. Roode discussed a number of topics including the state of Tag Team Wrestling, the mix of talent in TNA, Austin Aries, and more. You can listen to the interview at ChadDukesRadioshow.com. Here are some highlights of what Roode said about:

Tag Team Wrestling: “I think it’s a lot of people connect more with singles wrestlers maybe, I don’t know. I think, not to to toot my own horn here but I think that’s what Beer Money had that was special, again you know that we brought to the table in tag team wrestling was we had teams to work with, you know the teams of 3Ds and the British Invasion and of course, the Motor City Machine Guns that really etched our name in some of the greatest tag teams of all time and I think it was the entertainment value as well. People were able to connect with us and what we did and whether they loved us or hate us they were entertained every night and that’s something that’s important in professional wrestling today.”

His Rivalry With Austin Aries: “I think just chemistry-wise, I think we’ve had some great matches and we never really, before this program started with him and I, we never touched each other. We never wrestled each other before and I didn’t know really much about him and he really didn’t know much about me. The contrast in styles was something I think maybe people thought wouldn’t work, but I think we changed everybody’s mind. And I think if there’s ever an opportunity for him and I to go at it again, I think we’ll accomplish what we did, if not do things even better.”

Devon/Monday Night Mayhem Interview (MP3 Streaming Audio):
Wrestleviewradio.com/WVIP_Preview/mnm091112.mp3

Interview highlights courtesy of Kahlil Thomas, MNM’s associate producer and official correspondent:

Setting the record straight on his official status with TNA iMPACT Wrestling and why his future in professional wrestling will be determined by faith: “The deal was up as of August 28th (of this year), and I was still (World) Television Champion. It just so happened at that particular point in time, we were in the process of cutting a new deal, but we couldn’t cut it in time before the deadline. Alot of fans speculated different things, and rumors were running rampant. Safe to say, I have no ill feelings towards TNA at all. It’s just that we could not come to an agreement before the 28th, and the deal ran out. It is what it is. Where I’m going to go and is where God wants me to go. If faith leads me to stay in TNA, I’ll stay in TNA. If faith leads me to go to WWE, then I will go to WWE. I will go where God puts me, and I’ll leave it in his hands.”

His first memories of his former tag team partner (Bully Ray/Brother Ray) meeting The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) before starting their feud together and the importance of storytelling & thinking longevity in getting over in the business: “Bubba (Bully Ray) and I were getting that from The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley). I remember one of the first meetings between us a few years back, and I remembered them saying: ‘We didn’t kill ourselves. We had the people in the palm of our hands. It felt like we did nothing.’ That was one of the things Bubba and I tried to express to the younger guys. You don’t have to do a million and one things to get yourselves over. All you have to be able to do is tell the right story, and you’re be able to get over without killing yourself. You have to think longevity.”

His thoughts on those fans who still reminisce about Extreme Championship Wrestling today, more than a decade after the promotion folded: “When fans come up to me and express their love of what we did back then in the old ECW, we touched a lot of people. We set off a revolution and something that was never done before. You got a little indy promotion that came out of South Philadelphia, in a Bingo Hall that nobody thought would last a year, let alone two or three, and then it just became the third most popular company in the wrestling business at the time. To hear those three little letters, it meant something.”

Whether or not the thought has already crossed his mind about returning to the WWE: “I would be lying to you if I said going back to the WWE wasn’t a thought. It’s always a thought for anyone who’s ever been there and then left.”

Much more is contained in Devon’s exclusive interview with Monday Night Mayhem, including his candid thoughts on if the feeling has sunk in that he very well might not be working in the same company with Bully Ray (Bubba Ray) for the first time in years, the naysayers who believed that singles runs for him and his former tag team partner would not be possible in iMPACT Wrestling, what irks him about the fans who compare the singles runs of The Dudley Boyz in the WWE vs. TNA, being given the opportunity to perform as a singles competitor and the TNA World Television Champion, why he credits Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff for the recent success he had, what talents he enjoyed worked work with in iMPACT Wrestling (and those he would have liked to have work with), the origins of the HardCORE Justice Pay-Per-View in 2010 and whether there was actually talk of an “extreme” brand within TNA, why he hasn’t thought about retirement just yet, not “if but when” The Dudley Boyz are Hall of Fame bound, scripted vs. unscripted promos, plus much more! Another Knockout Parts Ways With TNA?, Pictures Removed

It would appear that Rosita is no longer affiliated with TNA Wrestling. The organization updated its Knockouts Photo Galleries page over the weekend and the sparingly seen wrestler was removed from its roster list along with Traci Brooks and Winter, who both confirmed parting ways with the organization.

Rosita is still listed on the main roster page, although several performers who have parted ways with the organization since May remain listed. This includes Devon, Matt Morgan, Ric Flair, Velvet Sky and Winter.

The 21-year-old wrestler has been without a role since Mexican America quietly dissolved in the spring. Her last television appearance took place five months ago on the April 17 episode of Impact Wrestling. During her absence, she became a certified instructor of Zumba and continued to compete for various independent leagues.

Meanwhile, Rosita, whose real name is Thea Trinidad, recalled her out-of-character interview at last year’s No Surrender pay-per-view event remembering her father, who died ten years ago that day in the September 11 attacks.

“Last yrs #NoSurrender PPV INTERVIEW gave u a piece of therealme. My story, my love4wrestling, my drive4 allaroundsuccess lives on thx2my Dad,” she tweeted. “I’m so appreciative of the love and support of my family, friends and fans.. You all help fuel my fire. God has blessed me in so many ways.”
