TNA Star Says Whether Sarita Really Had Facial Paralysis

On Twitter, Matt Morgan noted being asked by a fan if Sarita was legitimately stricken with facial paralysis after reading online that it may not be true. “The Blueprint” adamantly says her health issue was legitimate, but only temporary.

“Fan asks me if Sarita “really had partial facial paralysis”, I asked why would he ask this. Answer? He READ IT ONLINE it may be not true! RU serious? Let me clear THAT crap up,” Morgan wrote.

“Not only was Sarita’s face partially TEMPORARILY paralyzed, but fact she STILL didn’t miss a beat makes her one if, if not THE, toughest woman wrestler (or guy) that I’ve ever worked with! That took so much confidence and courage, yet idiots with apparently NO REAL wrestling headlines wanna just print up unfounded fodder? And at a talent who should be commended’s expense? Ugh…”

He continued, “Not a rant. More just defending what I first-hand watched w/MY OWN EYES, my co-worker work through. That’s all.”

The nine-year veteran has resumed appearing without the protective mask in Mexico, but not for TNA. She donned the mask at Sunday’s No Surrender pay-per-view.

“Dr. Lucha” Steve Sims, who has extensively covered lucha libre for several years, stated on recent episodes of the Figure Four Daily podcast that he was very skeptical over her claim of facial paralysis. Figure Four Weekly editor Bryan Alvarez believed her claim to be completely bogus as he went on a rant on the July 27 show questioning why she would continue to wrestle in spite of her apparent condition.

Hogan On Angle & Hardys’ Problems, Returning To The Ring

Hulk Hogan appeared on Busted Open, which airs every Monday and Wednesday on Sirius 92 and XM 207 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Highlights from the interview are as follows:

On whether he feels pressured to get back in the ring: “You know what it is, brother, it’s not pressure, I want to help. But then when I see myself in the ring, and I see myself on a good day, and I say okay, passable. But when I see myself on a bad day, and I’m trying to swing a chair and my body hurts so bad I can’t even swing it I go man, you shouldn’t be in there. I don’t feel pressure, but I want to help. But I want to help without destroying the product, I want to help without going oh my God, Hogan really sucks. You know, I would really like to do something, you know I don’t know how to find that sweet spot because I do all my vitamins, and drink all the fish oil and do all the stuff that you do when your trying to stay as healthy as you can.

“And then everything is fine and I feel great today, but tomorrow I can come in here and barely be able to get out of the chair and go well what did I do different? So I don’t know what’s going on, I guess its old age, I’m 58 years old, but that’s what’s got me. I can’t determine if I say okay today I’m like to get in the ring and hit you over the head with a baseball bat, or pull your leg, or hit you with a pair of knucks, you know. It’s a great thought, but I just don’t actually know until that moment how I’m gonna feel. It’s the weirdest feeling. So I want to help, I don’t feel pressured to get in the ring but sometimes I get a little sketchy thinking okay is this going to be a good day or a bad day.”

On guys like Matt and Jeff Hardy screwing up: “To see these guys step outside the parameters of what is expected in and out of the ring and screw up, you know? I mean come on. This business is a lifeline for me and for Vince, and for Dixie, and for Eric and for everybody that love this business, and RVD and Cena and everybody. And all of a sudden, you’re in or you’re out. You’re either all the way in the business or your all the way out. And when you screw up and when you don’t care, to me it shows that you don’t have it in your blood. And that’s what kills me. Because the party’s over man, this is business. And for them to step outside the lines and hurt a small upstart company like this, that’s doing a great job, that’s got huge opportunities, that’s where the hair on the back of my neck raises, because it’s not cool.

On the legal troubles of Jeff, Matt, and Kurt Angle: “You know the Jeff Hardy stuff, you know I kind of saw a little pattern and I’m kind of glad he is breaking the cycle. He’s saying he’s gonna break the cycle, and everything he said so far has been true to this point. You know the proof is in his actions in the long run. The Matt Hardy thing came out of nowhere because Matt Hardy, I don’t know him very well. Everytime I saw him and talked to him he was on point, we would talk about the show and what he was going to do in the ring, after the performance he would say did you watch? And everytime I talked to him, he was cool. I had no idea he was taking a walk on the wildside, he caught me way off guard.

“The Kurt Angle thing, I don’t know what to think of it yet. They said he blew, you know, and he wasn’t drinking. I can’t even begin to go there, I’m not going to put Hulk Hogan’s opinion over what the legal system comes up with, because I don’t even know what we are talking about with Kurt. I don’t know what the facts yet, I don’t know what’s going on. You know I talked to his wife and she said he’s a horrible driver. The whole time they were married she wouldn’t even let him drive the kids. He texts when he drives, he’s great in the ring as far as focusing but his people skills are horrible. He’s got two left feet, and it translates into his driving. I’m not making any excuses for him, but I want to know what the facts are before I pass any judgement.”

He responded to criticism over his remarks this afternoon, writing, “So apparently the message boards are calling me an “egomaniac”! Ahhhh u guys are silly!! FAT COMPUTER MARKS…oooppss I did it again.”

The ten-year veteran continued, “Good thing the so called message boards don’t really mean crap to me! My true fans are the ones who know we all bust our tails to entertain u all.”

He then added, “We need to get FATCOMPUTERMARKS trending!”

Sarita Competes Sans Mask Again, Skepticism Over Her Claim

Sarita has resumed competing without a protective mask after announcing two months ago that she was stricken with facial paralysis.

The TNA Knockout competed sans mask at last Sunday’s Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre event in Guadalajara, Mexico; she appeared the same physically as she did before the health scare.

TNA’s storyline explanation for the Mexican America star suddenly donning a protective mask on the July 14 episode of IMPACT Wrestling was that she had broken her orbital bone and jaw during a parking lot brawl with Miss Tessmacher and Tara.

Meanwhile, “Dr. Lucha” Steve Sims, who has extensively covered lucha libre for several years, and Figure Four Weekly editor Bryan Alvarez, both stated on recent episodes of the Figure Four Daily podcast that they were very skeptical over her claim of facial paralysis since she continued to wrestle in spite of her debilitating condition.

PWI Names The Top 50 Women’s Wrestlers Of 2011

SHIMMER Champion Madison Eagles has earned the number one position in Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s fourth annual “PWI Female 50” list, which ranks the top 50 women’s wrestlers in North America from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. She succeeds Michelle McCool, who ranked No. 1 in last year’s list.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated attributes their decision to ranking Eagles as the top women’s wrestler in North America with the following: “This year’s list was unlike any other in the four-year history of the “Female 50.” For one thing, there was no obvious frontrunner in either WWE or TNA. Last year’s number one, Michelle McCool, retired after a few lackluster months. The WWE Divas title dropped in prominence and was held for a significant amount of time by Brie Bella who, while improved, doesn’t exactly conjure thoughts of Sensational Sherri or Trish Stratus.”

Mickie James and Madison Rayne were also considered for the top spot, but for a variety of reasons, were ultimately deemed not worthy.

“So we made a bold decision. We looked to the indies. Two possible candidates were SHIMMER champion Madison Eagles and WSU champion Mercedes Martinez. It was a difficult choice to make,” the magazine explains. “Fortunately for us, Martinez and Eagles faced off in March for Eagles’ SHIMMER title. Eagles managed to win a terrific match, which proved to be the deciding factor in our decision.”

PWI also explains how the “Female 50” was determined: “To determine this list, we evaluated each woman’s innate wrestling ability, accomplishments during the past year, physical strength and conditioning, quality of opposition, charisma, and title success.”

Some women’s wrestlers contracted to WWE and TNA, such as Nikki Bella, Rosa Mendes, Tamina and Brooke Tessmacher, were left off the “Female 50” because PWI felt they did not earn a spot over some of the independent talent listed. The magazine explains, “While being on WWE’s or TNA’s global platform helps your chances, it doesn’t mean you get a free passage onto the “Female 50.”

James Comments On WWE, Rayne’s Husband Sent Overseas

— TNA Women’s Knockout Champion Mickie James was asked on her official website if she would ever return to WWE.

“This is a tough question that I often get asked and usually avoid answering. I can’t say that I never will or would go back to the WWE.” James said.

“I honestly never intended on leaving until I retired. However we don’t choose our destiny. We just live it. I am very happy at TNA and am enjoying my time here for as long as it lasts. I’ve had a lot of opportunities to grow inside and out as a performer, artist, and a woman. One really never knows what tomorrow holds. That’s why you make the most of every moment. Good, bad, or indifferent, and own it like only you can.”

She also gave her thoughts on the WWE Hall of Fame, writing: “To be inducted in to the Hall of Fame is a huge honor for any one person in this industry. It not only gives you credibility as the mark you made in the pages of history to the fans, but notoriety for the path you paved for everyone who followed in your footsteps.”

— Madison Rayne indicated on her Twitter account that her husband, who serves for the United States military, was recently sent overseas. The multi-time TNA Women’s Champion tied the knot last February and changed her name to Ashley Cabot.

Bischoff Says TNA Considered Cutting Hardy Prior To Arrest

Eric Bischoff stated on this week’s episode of Monday Night Mayhem that some TNA Wrestling officials wanted to cut ties with Matt Hardy prior to his arrest on August 20, 2011 for driving while intoxicated. Hardy, who was on suspension with the organization at the time, had his contract immediately terminated following the arrest.

“I think it was a great decision by TNA to release Matt Hardy. I honestly thought Matt was a questionable talent to begin with, not that he didn’t have any value. In my opinion, there was a liability there, and it manifested itself,” Bischoff said.

“We’ve see how Matt’s issues and the baggage he brought to TNA evolved in the last few months, and there a few people that wanted to pull the plug on Matt Hardy sooner than they did. I think once TNA made the decision to pull the plug, I was quite honestly happy about it and thought it was long overdue.”

The package was addressed to Hardy from a fan in Florida. It contained a Maxwell House coffee can filled with 262 prescription hydrocodone pain killers.

Police resealed the package and had the pills delivered to Hardy’s home. When Hardy accepted the package, Moore County sheriff’s deputies raided the house and found other drugs as well.

Kurt Angle Says He’s Signed A New 3-Year Deal With TNA

During an interview with Movieline.com earlier this week at the Los Angeles premiere of his new film Warrior, Kurt Angle announced that he recently signed a new 3-year deal with TNA Wrestling.

When asked about how much he was acting prior to entering the world of professional wrestling, Angle said:

“I was taking classes and I was getting very serious about it. I was also sportscasting — I was a sportscaster in Pittsburgh for Fox, just trying to get in front of the camera a little bit. Then pro wrestling came around and I took a shot at that, and I didn’t realize I was going to become that good.”

He continued, “I made a lot of money, thank God, and I stuck with it, but every time I had a movie where my name would come up for some reason, I wasn’t allowed to do it due to scheduling reasons in the WWE. So with TNA, they give me the opportunity to go ahead and do movies and if it conflicts with the schedule they work around it. It’s a much better situation for me. So I actually signed a new three-year deal today with TNA. I’m going to stick with TNA.

Angle also spoke about following in The Rocks footsteps from WWE to Hollywood, the MMA industry and more.

Kurt Angle’s Lawyer Calls Failed Alcohol Test Inadmissible

The following statement was sent out on Thursday night by Kurt Angle’s attorney C. Todd Gilbert.

To recap, Angle was arrested last weekend in Virginia for DUI. Angle issued a statement days later saying he did not break any laws by driving with a 0.6 blood alcohol content, below the state’s legal limit of 0.8. Virginia police then followed up with a statement claiming Angle did blow a 0.6 back at the police station – but he also registered a 0.91 immediately after getting pulled over.

Now, Angle’s lawyers are claiming the first breathalyzer test will be inadmissible in court because they claim necessary scientific procedures where not followed. Here’s the statement:

Reported Angle Breath Test Inadmissible Under Virginia Law

Field Test Not Calibrated and Inherently Flawed for Court Use

Front Royal, Virginia— Attorney C. Todd Gilbert who represents Olympian and professional wrestler Kurt Angle issued the following statement today to clarify erroneous media reports about the evidence against Mr. Angle following his arrest Saturday night.

Mr. Gilbert stated, “A local newspaper reported today that my client’s percentage of blood alcohol at the scene of his arrest Saturday night was 091. What the media failed to report is that the handheld field test unit used for this test is so inherently unreliable and the protocols for its use so flawed that these results are inadmissible as evidence under Virginia law.

The results which will be admissible in court, and which vindicate my client, showed that his actual blood alcohol content was a .06, well below the legal limit of .08. The breath testing machine used to determine this accurate .06 level is one that passes the rigorous scientific standards set forth by the Virginia Department of Forensic Science. This testing unit is also subject to equally meticulous written protocols and pre-test calibrations for its use. One such protocol is a 20 minute waiting period to ensure that any residual alcohol present in the mouth will have evaporated prior to testing and will therefore not cause a false positive or a result that is higher that one’s actual blood alcohol content. The handheld breath testing unit used by state troopers in this case is merely a tool to assist police in determining probable cause, but its results are inexact which is why they are inadmissible in court. For example, no such 20 minute waiting period is performed by officers in the field prior to its use. As such, the report today is both incomplete and misleading.

Mr. Angle continues to look forward to having the scientifically valid results of his actual blood alcohol content presented in court in order to clear him of this charge.”
