Jeff Hardy Title Win Scrapped, More On Nash’s Departure

– Former TNA champion Jeff Hardy was scheduled to win the TNA World Title back on last week’s episode of iMPACT, had his court case been settled during his most recent. Hardy’s case was delayed yet again, and TNA management decided it was best to hold off on putting the title back on Hardy until his legal issues are resolved.

The current plan is for Jeff Hardy to challenge Mr. Anderson for the title in a ladder match at Against All Odds.

Dave Meltzer reports that Kevin Nash actually signed a contract with TNA in January but Dixie Carter signed his release on the Friday before WWE’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

– Speaking of Nash, he appeared on X-Pac’s show on Cowhead.tv and said that the “tipping point” that lead to him leaving TNA was the recent episode of TNA iMPACT! where Kurt Angle destroyed the members of Immortal. Nash said that after that episode of iMPACT, he and his wife felt that returning to TNA was not in his best interest. Nash said that a call from WWE’s John Laurinaitis next made the decision to back out of his TNA contract and return to WWE an easy one.

Goldust Responds To Ric Flair’s Money Claims About Him

Over the weekend, wrestling journalist Mike Mooneyham reported that Ric Flair was owed big money by TNA and his recent “incident” on the European tour came after Flair demanded a cash advance from the company due to the money he was owed. Flair reportedly used Dustin Rhodes (Goldust) as one of the reasons TNA should pay him, since he claimed TNA would advance money to Dustin Rhodes back when he worked for the company.

Goldust responded to the report on his Twitter with the following:

“Wanna clear this up….a wrestling website is saying I used to get advances on my pay while at the other….well I did not…enough said.”

So either Flair was misinformed, or Goldust is mistaken .. Based on the stories of drug abuse during his time in TNA that Goldust wrote in his new book “Cross Rhodes,” there is reason to believe that his memory regarding the events at that time is a bit foggy.

Ric Flair Reportedly Owed A Lot Of Money By TNA

Wrestling journalist Mike Mooneyham, a longtime friend of Nature Boy Ric Flair, is reporting that Flair is owed a “considerable amount” of backpay by TNA Wrestling. TNA owing Flair money is said to be the reason for Flair’s dispute with company officials on the recent European tour.

According to Mooneyham, Flair felt disrespected by TNA on the tour and asked them for advance pay based on them owing him money for future dates on the tour and money unrelated to the tour.

After Flair was denied the money, he was told the reason management would not advance any pay to talent is because former TNA star Dustin “Goldust” Runnels took advantage of TNA by getting money advanced and they no longer do this. Flair was offended and asked, “Am I Dustin Rhodes? Is that my spot in the company?”

It’s been reported that Flair has been asking co-workers to borrow money at bars, which Mooneyham says is untrue.

Kurt Angle Upset With Jarrett Family Angle From iMPACT!

TNA star Kurt Angle wrote the following on Twitter regarding this week’s TNA iMPACT!:

“The “Jarrett” segments on TNA Impact were appalling. It made me look like a dead beat Dad, which I am not (I can assure you). And it made Karen and Jeff look like the perfect American Family. MY kids were calling Jeff “Daddy Jeff”.

“NOBODY will ever replace me as the Father of my kids. You want me to look like the bad person? Don’t forget who wanted the divorce! I didn’t walk away from my family, Karen did. So keep your little “act” going on TV. It’s amusing to me, but don’t think for a million years that my fans are buying this crap.”

Tour The Jarrett Home, Woman Wins $100,000 From Flair, More

— TNA Wrestling has posted a video of Karen Jarrett offering fans a tour of the Jarrett estate in Nashville, Tennessee.

— A woman in Winnsboro, South Carolina won $100,000 off a Ric Flair scratch-off ticket, reports www.wltx.com. The winner’s husband, a longtime fan of Flair, told lottery officials that he was walking around their house chanting “Woooo!” afterwards.

“Now, I have a new reason to scream ‘Woooo!’ he said. “She’s started saying it.”

— Sarita is working this week’s TNA Wrestling live event tour across the southern United States, her first since June. She generally doesn’t work house shows due to her obligations with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in Mexico and reportedly due to expenses because she is amongst the highest paid female performers in the company.

Knockout Removed From Roster, Hardy Denies Lita Rumors, More

— The TNA Wrestling website has removed Chelsea from their roster page, likely indicating that she has parted ways with the organization.

— Matt Hardy is denying online reports that he wants to bring Lita to TNA Wrestling.

He wrote on Twitter, “IWC Rumor Killer-I HAVEN’T asked 4 Lita to come 2 TNA. I wish her happiness & the best in life, but I am not interested in workin with her.”

— Tommy Dreamer is off television now because creative team has nothing for him. He is limited to a backstage role at television tapings, albeit he worked this week’s live events tour.

Agent Confirms Jersey Shore’s Angelina Interested In TNA

After Jersey Shore star J-WOWW made an appearance for TNA Wrestling late last year, it appears another [former] cast member could be headed to Orlando in the near future.

TMZ reported last month that former Jersey Shore star Angelina Pivarnick was in talks with TNA about wrestling a match. Michael Schweiger of CEG talent, which represents Angelina and other Jersey Shore stars, confirmed to Astheworldturnsleft.com that Angelina is indeed interested in wrestling with TNA.

“She has those aggressive tendencies,”Schweiger said. “It’s funny with these kids. They pretty much have an interest in anything that will get their face on the screen.”

Angelina was scheduled to compete in a celebrity boxing match back in December but the fight was nixed after she got into a fight with a woman who wasn’t her opponent before the event began.

A TNA spokesperson would neither confirm nor deny Angelina’s involvement, but did offer this statement:

“We were absolutely thrilled to host JWoww at the TNA ‘iMPACT Zone’ in October, and we’ve kept the door open for her or anyone else in the ‘Jersey Shore’ family to visit us anytime. Certainly JWoww and TNA Knockout Cookie have a little unfinished business they’d like to resolve.”

COMMENT BELOW: What do you think about Angelina in TNA? Would she add anything to the TNA product, or would be be a waste of TNA’s time and money?

Angle Talks About TNA Contract Expiring, Returning to WWE

TNA star Kurt Angle was interviewed this week by MMA announcer Mauro Ranallo on The Fight Show satellite radio show on Thursday. You can listen to the full interview at Radio.TheScore.com. Here are some highlights of what Angle said about:

His TNA Contract Expiring: “My contract’s up in August. I’m going to keep the option open. I like TNA. I like being there. I like that the company has built the last four-and-a-half years since I’ve been there. I don’t have any plans of leaving, but I don’t think Kevin Nash and Booker T had plans of jumping either.”

(COMMENT BELOW: Would you like to see Kurt Angle back in WWE? Can he handle the travel schedule?)

Nash & Booker T Jumping Ship: “They were actually, until a couple days before the (Royal) Rumble, signed with TNA. In essence, they asked for their release at the last second and TNA gave them their wish. I’m going to do what’s best for Kurt Angle and they’ve treated me well here.”

TNA’s Current Roster: “ “We have a stacked roster. We can’t put everybody on a TV show. So, you’re not seeing a lot of the talent week after week. I think they’re going to have to be more consistent about keeping the top talent in there.”

Angle also called his on-air storyline with Jeff Jarrett and Karen Angle a “touchy subject” and said his fiance Giovanna and their new baby are “doing fine” after her recent health scare landed her in the hospital and resulted in the baby being born sooner than expected.

They Revealed, X-Division Tournament Update, 3/3 iMPACT!

– On Thursday’s iMPACT!, TNA’s much-hyped “they” group was revealed to be Fortune members AJ Styles, Kazarian and Beer Money, who turned on Immortal and Eric Bischoff. As previously reported, TNA had planned to feature Kevin Nash and Booker T’s in the group, but their returns to WWE at the Royal Rumble forced them to rewrite the entire storyline.

– TNA is now heavily promoting the March 3rd episode of iMPACT. Announced for that show is Karen and Jeff Jarrett renewing their wedding vows and the return of Hulk Hogan. Hogan was supposed to return on last night’s show but was not at this past week’s iMPACT tapings.

TNA covered up for Hogan not being there this week by saying that a “legal ruling” from a judge in Texas in the Hogan-Dixie Carter feud was preventing him from attending iMPACT.

– Jeremy Buck won a match on last night’s iMPACT to advance to an X Division #1 contender’s match at Against All Odds. The winner of Robbie E. vs. Brian Kendrick vs. Suicide on next week’s iMPACT will go to the pay-per-view to face Max Buck and Jeremy Buck in a three-way to crown a new #1 contender.

Dixie Carter Talks Sting-WWE Rumors, Nash & Booker Leaving

TNA’s official website has started a new feature where Dixie Carter answers fan questions from TNA’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Here are some of the more newsworthy items:

Q: do you plan on moving the Impact Zone to somewhere else. I believe that keeping it in Universal is crippling the audience numbers.

Dixie: There are no plans to move the production to another single facility. However, we are excited about taking the iMPACT! taping on the road to Fayetteville, NC on February 24th, and hope to do more iMPACT! tapings from different locations in the future.

Q: What has been the biggest mistake you’ve made so far running TNA? I know the list is long but narrow it to 1 if possible.

Dixie: The move to Monday nights. We have a loyal audience on Thursdays and that move proved that. Even the ratings of the Thursday replay (which did not force viewers to watch on Monday), were as high or higher than the debut telecast.

Q: Can you tell me how you felt when you saw Booker T and Kevin Nash at the Royal Rumble and realized your original plans for “THEY” were screwed?

Dixie: Booker was not available for any MEM angle. Kevin Nash was under contract with TNA and was just recently released for reasons I will not disclose. From the beginning, if we did a MEM angle it would not have been with the original group and it would have been a short-term story to get to something else. To see “THEY” tune in TONIGHT on SPIKE. I’m pretty sure the fans will be happy. I know I am.

Q: what’s the truth about the rumors that Sting has left TNA and joined WWE?!

Dixie: I have read these reports. I would really hate to see that happen.

Kurt Angle’s Contract TNA Expiring This Summer (Details)

TNA star Kurt Angle appeared on Canada’s The Fight Show on Thursday afternoon and revealed that his current deal with TNA expires in August.

This is consistent with Kevin Nash’s recent comments on ESPN radio earlier this week. Nash was asked whether he and Booker T returning to WWE could result in a new incarnation of the Main Event Mafia. Nash joked we could see it happen this summer, since Kurt Angle could be a free agent by then.

At this point, there have been no indications that WWE is interested in bringing Kurt Angle back. Angle has had favorable things to say about WWE in recent months, but he was having trouble keeping up with the WWE lifestyle back when he left several years ago and that would likely still be a big concern.

Jeff Jarrett Talks iMPACT! & PPVs On The Road, Karen & More

Busted Open with Jeff Jarrett
Hosts: Dave LaGreca and Doug Mortman
Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-4 PM ET
Sirius 125, XM 241

Here are some highlights of what Jeff Jarrett said about:

If there are more plans for TNA to take Impact and PPV’s on the road: “There absolutely are. The touring business is a very very tough business first and foremost. Me growing up here in Nashville certainly around the music business, there’s a lot of hard work that goes in to taking a show on the road….It is a tough road. In 2009, I think we ran 50 events, 2010 we ran about 80 or so and 2011 I think we’re going to have over 100 on the books.”

The Impact Zone and how it plays on TV: “To me, the Impact Zone is an intimate setting. Is it what the wrestling fan is accustomed to back from the 90’s with the Monday Night Wars so to speak were going on when both the shows were in arenas, but the reality is that we are not in that era anymore and WWE is not selling the tickets that they did in the 90’s and the touring business and the country as a whole is in a recession.”

Working with his wife and Kurt Angle in this current storyline: “I have to tell you that you are probably using the incorrect word when you call it a storyline, because that kind of tells you it’s scripted….you just tune in and it’s as uncomfortable as one could imagine. It’s real, its damn real as Kurt would say.”

Other topics covered include the growth of TNA as a wrestling promotion, being able to draw larger crowds when the show goes on the road, if they consider themselves to be in competition with the WWE or an alternative, his thoughts on the possibility of Sting signing with WWE and more.

Abyss’ Return, X-Division Getting A Push, New Talent

– The Monster Abyss will be out of action until the February 24th TNA iMPACT in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He’s being kept off TV to sell injuries from Crimson stabbing in the back with Janice.

– A number of European wrestlers recently received tryouts with TNA during the company’s tour last month. TNA was most impressed with Mark Hawkins and he’s seen as the first person TNA would offer a job to if they hire anybody from this round of evaluations.

– Also on the European tour, Knockout Madison Rayne got sick and was unable to work the show in Manchester. Instead of the scheduled Rayne and Tara vs. Mickie James and Angelina Love match, they went with Love vs. Mickie with Tara as referee.

– TNA recently announced that it switched the dates for the Destination X and Victory Road pay-per-view events. The reason for the change is the company wants to build up the X-Division and that will take more than a month or two, when Destination X was previously scheduled for. The X Division pay-per-view is now scheduled for July.

Matt Hardy Wants Lita In TNA, More Impact Rating Details

— According to SuperLuchas.net, Matt Hardy is reportedly trying to persuade TNA Wrestling officials to hire former WWE Diva Amy “Lita” Dumas so he can work a storyline with her.

During an interview last October, Dumas expressed interest in returning to the squared circle “for fun,” albeit not on a full-time basis. She was also broached on the subject of Hardy, to which she snarked, “Oh my god, what happened to that guy?” Dumas added that she feels he has maturity issues, but also acknowledged his professionalism during their 2005 feud.

— Last Thursday’s episode of TNA iMPACT! scored a 1.28 cable rating, the program’s highest mark since October 14. TNA averaged 1.93 million viewers over the course of two hours, which is the third largest average audience in the program’s history.

The program got off to a strong start as the opening segment setting up the main event drew a 1.41. Viewership increased for the beginning of the Knockouts Elimination Match featuring Sarita, Madison Rayne and Tara against Mickie James and The Beautiful People, gaining 15,000 viewers to draw a 1.42 rating. However, the second half of the 13 minute match following the commercial break lost 195,000 viewers. Amazing Red vs. Max Buck vs. Chis Sabin lost 90,000 viewers. Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson’s verbal confrontation, and Velvet Sky’s promo, kept the rating even. “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero’s promo lost 120,000 viewers and was the lowest rated segment of the show. Mr. Anderson vs. Matt Hardy gained 60,000 viewers. The main event featuring Kurt Angle and Crimson vs. Beer Money, Inc., Kazarian, Rob Terry, Gunner and Murphy gained 210,000 viewers to draw a 1.33 rating. It was the most watched main event in several weeks.

Kevin Steen Says Watching TNA Has Made Him Nauseous

Former Ring of Honor wrestler Kevin Steen spoke to Power Slam about his future without ROH, whether he’s received any interest from WWE or TNA, his longtime feud with El Generico, TNA’s television product, and more.

Regarding interest from the two major promotions, Steen says WWE has never shown any interest in his services while he heard that TNA might have been interested in using him a few years ago but was never contacted. He questions why WWE would be interested in him when he’s the complete opposite of what they look for in a wrestler, noting that he doesn’t look like the typical athlete.

The interviewer then says it’s hard for him to imagine TNA doing much with Steen on the chance he was hired. He feels the former ROH star would likely be ‘just another mid-card guy, lost in the weekly blur of multi-man segments and short matches.’

Steen responds, “This won’t look good now that I’m a free agent and I’m looking to make a living off wrestling…

“I’ve watched episodes of TNA iMPACT! and TNA pay-per-views. This is not a knock on the wrestlers because the wrestlers are the only thing that make [TNA] watchable, guys like The Young Bucks and The [Motor City] Machine Guns and Samoa Joe and AJ Styles and others. But I would watch an episode, and I would have to pause it because my head was spinning and I felt a little nauseous just from seeing so many things happening, one after another. The matches have so little time, so they would have to do so much stuff in, like, three minutes.

“I’ve literally gotten physically nauseous from watching TNA.”

Sting Reportedly WWE’s Top Priority & What TNA Thinks

— According to sources within World Wrestling Entertainment, organization officials’ top priority heading into 2011 was signing multi-time champion Steve Borden (a/k/a Sting) to a contract.

As reported earlier, TNA Wrestling sources indicate that Borden did not sign a new deal for 2011. The majority feeling within the Nashville based organization is that he is bound for World Wrestling Entertainment, although nobody knows that as a fact.

The New York Daily News notes in today’s edition that Borden has ‘reportedly’ signed a one-year contract with WWE. The reported signing, however, has yet to be confirmed elsewhere.

— WWE began running vignettes last night on Raw teasing the return or debut of a mysterious figure wearing a black trench coat on “2 21 11.” Original plans called for the video to air once, but Vince McMahon called an audible during the broadcast to play it again.

*Spoiler* THEY Revealed, Hogan & Flair Updates

After weeks of hype that “They” are coming to TNA, the new group was revealed at Monday’s TNA iMPACT! tapings, set to air this Thursday on Spike TV.

Details are still coming in, but it appears that “They” consists of Fortune and several other top TNA stars – including Kurt Angle, Mr. Anderson Scott Steiner, Crimson, AJ Styles, Kazarian and Beer Money after Fortune turned on Immortal.

TNA had originally planned for “they” to be The Main Event Mafia with Angle, Steiner, Crimson, Kevin Nash, Booker T and Sting. After Sunday’s Royal Rumble and news coming out that Nash and Booker T are signing deals with WWE, those plans had to be changed.

No word yet on where Sting stands but he was not scheduled for this week’s tapings.

Spike TV officials reportedly are pressuring TNA to produce big ratings this month, which is “sweeps” – when advertisers gauge the ratings of each show in order to determine future advertising rates.

In related news, after advertising his return for two weeks, Hulk Hogan did not make his return at last night’s TNA tapings.

Ric Flair also wasn’t in the building but it’s since been revealed that he is suffering from an injury and is scheduled for tonight’s tapings. There was a backstage segment with Beer Money where they said the last time they saw Flair he was drunk in a bar in Ireland.

– TNA will tape more iMPACT tapings tonight from Orlando. Tonight’s spoilers will be the Against All Odds go-home show.

– TNA officials are currently having a new World Heavyweight Title belt made for Mr. Anderson.
