Update On When Tommy Dreamer Is Free To Join TNA

It appears that former WWE Superstar and ECW original Tommy Dreamer is TNA bound and could show up on television as soon as tonight’s live broadcast.

On Monday, TNA star Jeff Hardy wrote on Twitter:

“Impact…tonight at8:00pm..on Spike…I’m aDreamer&I know I’m not the only one!”

Jeff capitalizing the word “Dreamer” led many to speculate that the ECW original, who was released from WWE earlier this year, would be appearing on this week’s iMPACT!

Tommy Dreamer responded to Jeff Hardy’s message, writing:

“Since Jeff Hardy is a Dreamer and I was part of Team Extreme, I will retweet his message that TNA Impact airs at 8:00 p.m. EST.”

Dreamer didn’t appear on this week’s iMPACT!, but it seems he’s hinting that he might be visiting the iMPACT! zone in the near future.

Last month, Taz noted that he and Paul Heyman had dinner in New York City with TNA’s Brother Ray and Taz.

UPDATE: Tommy Dreamer’s 90-day no-compete clause with WWE expires next Monday according to PWInsider.com. Next week’s show is being taped tonight, so the first live show where Dreamer would be free to appear is TNA Lockdown on April 18.

Christopher Daniels Update, TNA Taping In NYC?

– Christopher Daniels’ departure from TNA was a hot topic of conversation at Monday’s iMPACT! tapings.

– Speaking of Daniels, he is accepting independent bookings via Bill Behrens at showbis@aol.com. He would be flown out of Los Angeles and is also available to appear as Curry Man.

– After receiving recent tryouts as backstage agents, neither Al Snow nor Dave Taylor were at iMPACT! this week.

– There was a rumor going around over the weekend that TNA would be moving its television tapings to the Paramount Theater in New York City. This rumor is false, especially considering that the former WWE venue houses the Hard Rock Cafe.

TNA Advertising During WWE Shows, Roster Updates

– Several readers wrote in over the weekend saying that commercials for TNA iMPACT! aired during Friday’s WWE SmackDown broadcast.

– The official TNA website has removed Consequences Creed and The Nasty Boys from its roster page. Daniels still remains on the site as of this post, though he has in fact parted ways with the organization.

Meanwhile, TNA has added Chelsea to its page. She is being dubbed as “the young and beautiful assistant for TNA Wrestling Superstar Desmond Wolfe.”

DailyBulletin.com has an article on local wrestlers Jeremy and Max Buck of Generation Me.

Foley Blogs About Kanyon’s Death, New TNA Strategy

– TNA star Mick Foley has updated his MySpace.com blog with more thoughts on the tragic death of former WWE & WCW wrestler Chris Kanyon. With yet another young life lost, Foley once again shines a light on the less-than glamorous transition from wrestling superstar to everyday civilian.

“Unfortunately, suicide is a solution that far too many wrestlers have opted for. I really wish there was some kind of emotional crash pad for wrestlers to land on when the bright lights dim, or when injuries take their toll, or when one is finally forced to face the fact that the next big break just might not come around.”

– TNA founder Jeff Jarrett tells Kentucky’s Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper that TNA looking to change their strategy concerning live events. Many of TNA’s bigger names currently do not appear at the live events, leading many fans to notice a major difference in the product they see in person compared to the household names they see on television.

“The issue you’re talking about of the (Kevin) Nashes of the world not making it, we are graduating or progressing so that won’t be the case by the end of the year,” Jarrett said. “What you see on TV will match the live events.”

Jarrett admitted that TNA is not financially able to “load up a card with up to 20 superstars,” but that’s allowed them to keep the talent budget low and as a result, the shows have been profitable.

Wrestlers Disappointed In Carter, TNA Wanted ROH Star

– At one time, wrestlers let go by TNA appreciated the words of encouragement they’d receive from Dixie Carter after the company stopped using them. However, several wrestlers released from the organization compared notes and are very much convinced she gives the same speech to the majority of talent let go. Though many still appreciate the follow-up, several grumblingly feel now her correspondence was only slightly more sincere that World Wrestling Entertainment when they wish released talent ‘well in their future endeavors.’

– TNA officials reached out to Roderick Strong when his contract with Ring of Honor expired, However, they didn’t offer him a contract and he ended up re-signing with ROH. On another note, Strong is WWE wrestler Evan Bourne’s roommate.

– Al Snow worked the most recent set of television tapings as an agent. Still no word on whether he’s been offered a contract. Both he and Dave Taylor received favorable reviews for their tryouts at previous tapings.

Update On The Nasty Boys, Who Is Orlando Jordan’s Girlfriend?

HonkyTonkMan.net, which initially broke the news of The Nasty Boys’ departure from TNA Wrestling, notes that Brian Knobs and Jerry Sags weren’t initially informed they had been let go. An upset Sags reportedly found out he had been let go via news reports online. One company source confirms that Eric Bischoff was instrumental in their release from the company and that neither him nor management contacted the duo to inform them they had been let go.

-Jimmy Hart, who was brought in to manage Knobs and Sags, is still with the company.

— Orlando Jordan’s on-screen female companion is an independent women’s wrestler by the name of Santana G. currently training with the Orlando-based “I Believe in Wrestling” promotion. She is the daughter of St. Louis-based High Voltage Wrestling promoter TNT Kenny G. Santana was trained by former IWA-MS Heavyweight Champion Dingo.

More Details On Flair’s Confrontation With Jordan’s Valet

As reported yesterday, reaction to Orlando Jordan’s segment on Monday’s iMPACT! was largely negative amongst the wrestlers in the locker room. Ric Flair was said to be among the most vocal detractors of the segment when it was taped on Mar. 23.

Later that night, a number of wrestlers and personnel headed out a nearby bar. Flair had a few drinks and began complaining about the manner in which Jordan’s on-air male companion was dancing on the bar’s dance floor and added there’s no place for him in the locker room. He eventually got so worked up that he angrily approached the male companion and created a scene.

One wrestler said Flair “cut a Ric Flair promo on him.” He then told him he’s “an embarrassment” and demanded that he “sit the f— down.”

The male companion was said to be shaken by the wrestling legend’s comments and left the bar shortly thereafter.

Updates On Awesome Kong, ODB, Angelina Love, Sarita

– Former TNA Knockout Awesome Kong is booked for several independent dates in Australia this summer under the name “Amazing Kong.” With those bookings in place, it seems unlikely that Kong would be able to join WWE until after the summer.

– ODB told fans at a POWW Wrestling event held over the weekend that the reason she hasn’t been seen in TNA the past few weeks is due to a ruptured breast implant. According to reports, she had been working through the injury in order to hold off surgery following the Genesis pay-per-view back in January. She has since recovered as she worked the independent event, so her prolonged absence appears to now be a case of creative having nothing for her at this time.

– Angelina Love will be hosting a “Gold Party” this Friday night in Washington D.C. at the Town Danceboutique alongside Tanisha of the Bad Girls Club and DJ Seth.

– Sarita is currently in the midst of a wrestling tour of Japan as she worked Fuka’s retirement show at Korakuen Hall on Sunday and will be working a show this Saturday at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring.

— Madison Rayne is auctioning off a garter wrestling outfit worn on iMPACT! last year at the following link. Bidding ends today.

Incident Involving Ric Flair & Orlando Jordan’s Male Companion

Ric Flair angrily confronted the on-air male companion of Orlando Jordan at a bar that a number of wrestlers and personnel hung out at following the Mar. 23 iMPACT! taping.

Flair reportedly got very upset watching the male companion dance at the bar and decided to confront him. Jordan’s male companion was said to be shaken by the wrestling legend’s comments and left the bar shortly thereafter.

Furthermore, Flair was said to be fuming over the young male having a role in the company as he feels he does not belong in the locker room.

More On Monday’s Ratings, Dixie Carter Comments

Following up on Monday’s WWE RAW & TNA iMPACT! ratings …

WWE RAW’s rating was a 3.7, rounded up from a 3.68. The highest quarter hour of the show was a 4.1 for Shawn Michaels’ retirement ceremony at the end of the show.  USA Network executive Ted Linhart noted on Twitter that RAW’s second hour did 3 million adults in the 18-49 demographic.

As previously reported, TNA iMPACT! did a 0.62. Granted, the show went up against another stacked, newsworthy RAW, but you can bet iMPACT! won’t last long on Monday nights doing 0.6’s.

TNA president Dixie Carter posted a message on Twitter regarding iMPACT!’s ratings collapse, attributing it to the Shawn Michaels farewell on RAW:

“Thank goodness he can only retire once…hopefully. Shawn, congrats on an amazing career.”

WWE RAW & TNA iMPACT! Ratings For 3/29

The ratings are in for the March 29, 2010 editions of WWE RAW & TNA iMPACT!.

WWE’s post-WrestleMania 26 episode of WWE RAW drew a 3.7 cable rating. This number is up from last week’s 3.2, but even WWE’s first class farewell tribute to Shawn Michaels on the night after WrestleMania was not enough to push the show into the 4’s.

TNA iMPACT featuring a 6-man six-man steel cage main event scored a 0.6 cable rating, down sharply from last week’s 0.9 and the worst rating on Monday nights yet.

We’re still waiting on more details, so stay tuned.

Nasty Boys Gone From TNA & Creed Confirms His Departure

— The Nasty Boys — Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags — have reportedly been released from TNA Wrestling.

According to the webmaster of the official website of The Honky Tonk Man, Knobbs was involved in an incident at a TNA function where Spike TV executives were present. They were said to be very unhappy with his behavior, which resulted in both being let go. ProWrestling.net independently confirmed with their company sources that the duo has indeed been let go.

As of this post, their profiles have yet be removed from the company website, thus deeming their respective departures official.

— As reported earlier, Consequences Creed has been released from TNA. Shortly after news broke of his reported release, Creed confirmed his departure from the organization on his Twitter account, stating: “Thanks for the support! Yea it’s true no more TNA for me. So now it’s time to do work son! The only thing that can beat a Creed is a Drago!”

TNA iMPACT! Results For March 29, 2010

Report by Tim Capture:

Below are full results from tonight’s taped edition of TNA Impact from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

TNA Impact

* Team 3D come out and talk about the poll on the official TNA website to determine the most popular tag team and how it was a tie between them and the Motor City Machine Guns. Team 3D challenge the Guns for the title shot for the tag titles they won at Destination X. The Motor City Machine Guns accept.

* The Motor City Machine Guns vs. Team 3D ends in no contest. Chris Sabin accidentally took out referee Slick Johnson. Earl Hebner came down to replace him and the match ended in a double pin with Devon pinning Sabin and Shelley winning Brother Ray.

* Jeff Jarrett is in Hulk Hogan’s office. Hogan is apologizing for Eric Bischoff. He and Eric make a good team but he does wrong things sometimes. Hogan was impressed by how he handled Eric so he’s giving him a shot at AJ Styles for #1 contendership. Jarrett leaves and Jay Lethal comes in to try and form the Mega Powers. They shook hands but it’s unclear what will come of it.

* Impact opening. Wolfpac and Bubba come out to start the show. Bubba is on the mic. He calls everybody pathetic sheep and marks who wouldn’t want to be him. He doesn’t need this job but he likes hanging with these types of guys. He says no disrespect but he’s better than Hemme and JB. He smack talks Eric Young and hands the mic to Nash. He says he and Young have become friends over the past year so he’d like him to come out so he can apologize man-to-man. Young is out. Nash says what he did was business and not personal. If there’s anybody to join the Band it’s him. He says the match isn’t happening tonight, RVD and Hardy aren’t in their league. He offers him to join. Young instead attacks everybody. They beat him down until Hardy and RVD make the save.

* Hardy gets on the mic and says he’s ready to do this match right now. He says in honor of Lockdown, the main event is in a steel cage. He’s now signing his theme song live.

* Dough Williams & Brian Kendrick vs. Shannon Moore & Kaz. Winner via spinning neckbreaker off the second rope from Moore to Kendrick, Shannon Moore & Kaz. After the match, Moore put an X on Kendrick’s forehead with makeup.

* Eric Bischoff backstage on the phone telling someone he’ll make it work and to have fun in New York. He calls over Miss Tessmacher to do some work. Lethal comes in to try and get him a 3rd member of the Mega Powers. He also has ideas for the show with guys like Iron Sheik, Junkyard Dog and others. Bischoff says to think big and come up with a main event. Lethal says he’ll come up with something great and leaves. Bischoff asks Miss Tessmacher to get him Beer Money.

* The Pope is in the ring. Pope has been dreaming of his Lockdown match his whole life with Flair and AJ trying to take him out. He says Flair’s time was 50 years ago. Pope wants AJ to head down to Cape Canaveral, to Kennedy Space Center and get a spacesuit because at Lockdown he’s taking him to the outer limits. When the smoke is cleared, Pope will be in the ring, the champion at Lockdown and the people will say the Pope, is, pimping. Chelsea comes to the ring. Pope asks what he can do for her. She says usually gets what she wants her whole life, but she’d like to be, how you say, a ho? He asks if she knows how to drive a stick? She says no but she’s a quick learner. She asks if that’s a gun in her pocket or he’s happy to see her? Desmond Wolfe tries to run in but Pope tosses him out and kisses Chelsea and leaves.

* Orlando Jordan is hanging over the ring attached to caution tape and is naked it seems. He’s going to rappel down. Jordan rappels down slowly to his music. He’s writhing around seductively and posting, crawling up the ramp. He has a set but no one can see it. Staffers put a curtain down in front of it before the audience could see what happened next.

* JB backstage with Tara. First blood match with Daffney tonight because she took something special of hers. Tonight she’ll learn pain. Daffney attacks her and the match has started as they fight to the ring. Winner via tool box to the head, Tara

* They’ve been doing free face paintings all day so they can turn off the lights when Hardy comes out and you can see all the glow in the dark face paint.

* Jeff Jarrett vs. AJ Styles in a non title match. If Jarrett wins he’s the #1 contender after Lockdown Chelsea wheeled Ric Flair out after AJ and Jarrett got in the ring. He’s watching from the ramp. Flair was thrown out for trying to get involved. Flair is back out ringside and the referee is distracted and eventually knocked out. Bischoff comes out with a guitar to hit Jarrett but Jarrett grabs it. AJ low blows Jarrett during this, hits the Styles Clash and wins the match as the ref comes to. AJ’s hand got cut open somehow and was bleeding heavily.

* JB backstage with Hardy, RVD and Young. Young says he did what he did because it was the right thing to do. Young is here for the right reasons and Nash is here for the wrong reasons. RVD agrees and says he’s got Young’s back. Hardy says guys like Nash try to hold them down while they climb the ladder to the top Lethal is backstage and stops Bischoff and says the main should be the model vs. Brutus Beefcake. Bischoff says there’s only one real main eventer here and it’s him. Eric says get to the ring so he can see who his opponent is. Winner via quick small package on Roode, Jay Lethal.

* Desmond Wolfe w/Chelsea vs. The Pope. Chelsea distracted Hebner so Wolfe could use a chained fist on Pope and get the win.

* They’re setting up the cage now. Thirty minutes later, Kurt Angle is out and in the cage. He says Anderson has been gunning for him since he came to TNA. He says he thinks he’s as good as Angle but he has no idea who he is. He’s an elite athlete who is in control, but with Anderson he lost control. Maybe it’s because of what he did with his warrior tags. What he does know is that at Lockdown it’s them in a cage with no control. It will end with his hands and face covered in Anderson’s blood. Anderson is out at the top of the ramp. He says this war needs to stop, they might kill each other. Week after week, he bloodies Angle, Angle bloodies him. He hits him with a chair, Angle hits him. He beats Angle, Angle beats him. TNA management says they’ll lose money if two of their top stars get hurt. Angle says this isn’t about management, it’s about kicking Anderson’s ass. Anderson says Bischoff sanctioned a match on next week’s Imact between Angle and Anderson in a ladder match. At the top will be a key to open the door of the cage at Lockdown. Anderson says the better man is supposed to win and Angle is a better father, son and role model. Overall Angle is a nice guy, but nice guys always finish last. Anderson says thank god he’s an asshole…..asshole.

* The fight started outside the ring. Everybody but Eric Young got in before Syxx Pac locked the cage. Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Syxx Pac vs. Jeff Hardy, RVD and Eric Young. On the way to the ring, Angle gave Nash the Wolfpac sign. Nothing as the show ends.

TNA X-Division Star Released, Mick Foley Retiring Soon

– According to sources within TNA, Consequences Creed is gone from the company. His profile has been removed from the TNA website and Creed just posted the following on Twitter: “Thanks for the support! Yea it’s true no more TNA for me.”

– In his latest MySpace blog, TNA star Mick Foley says his days in the ring are coming to an end soon. “I will be turning 45 in just a few months, and I can definitely see the end of the wrestling road coming,” Foley said. “I’m really not sure when I’ll be back in TNA, or even if, or for how long, so I really want to be prepared for life after wrestling.”

TNA To Debut Groundbreaking Gimmick Tonight (Spoiler)

TNA Wrestling is receiving positive press via OutSports.com for featuring the first openly bisexual wrestler in a major U.S.-based pro wrestling promotion. The wrestler in question is Orlando Jordan, who resurfaces on tonight’s pre-taped episode of iMPACT!.

An article posted on the website notes “Orlando Jordan is the character – and truly is bisexual, not just portraying a gay (or bi) character, as has been the norm in pro wrestling’s past.”

The article then describes Jordan’s segment on the show, which sees him lowered into the ring from the arena’s rafters wrapped in yellow police tape. He then crawls up the ramp to sit on a couch between a male and female alongside a tri-colored bisexual pride flag.

HBK Talks About Flair Still Wrestling, Raw Preemption, More

— In an interview with Kevin Eck of The Baltimore Sun, Shawn Michaels gives his feelings on Ric Flair continuing to wrestle despite losing a “career threatening” match against him two years ago at WrestleMania. HBK notes that Flair called him when he was going to sign with TNA to ask him if he was okay with it.

“He did call me. He called me once to let me know he was going to do the [Hulk] Hogan match in Australia. He wanted to know if it was OK and I of course told him that it was. Then he called me again when he was going to sign with TNA and asked the same thing. There’s nothing you can say. I certainly don’t have what it takes to look at somebody and say, “Don’t go make a living.” I told him that, for me, nothing can take away that special moment. It will still always be to me that I had Ric Flair’s last match. I tried to do the best job I could for him. I think it was a special moment. Anything after that [pauses]. I feel for him, but I’m certainly not angry or disappointed or anything. I would like to think that Ric probably would have liked that to have been his last match, too. The fact that it couldn’t be, I understand. Those are circumstances that I certainly can’t control.

“One of the things you have to understand is that if you’re going to be a friend of Ric’s, you sort of know that there’s some baggage that comes along with that. Certainly the older I get the more I’m learning about conditional situations, and the difference between that and unconditional — unconditional friendship, unconditional love. All those types of things we can talk about but it’s a whole other thing to put them into action. I do my best to put them into action. I want what’s best for Ric, even if Ric might not always be aware of what that is, I still want that for him. Nothing will take away from that moment. It’s sill truly special. I still wear my watch every day, so it’s still something I’m really proud of.”

Among the other topics discussed were whether he is ready to legitimately walk away from the business, what his backstage meeting with Bret Hart in January was like, his match with Undertaker last year at WrestleMania, and more. To read the interview in its entirety, click here.

— Due to the final game of the NCAA basketball tournament, The Score in Canada will not air Monday Night Raw at 9:15 PM (ET) on April 5th, 2010. Raw will be shown at midnight (ET) instead. This means that TNA iMPACT! on Spike TV is going unopposed in Canada that night. (Thanks to Devin Cutting)

— In the following video, Dolph Ziggler says he’s confident about his chances in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match tonight at WrestleMania.

TNA Star Debuting Shocking New Character This Monday

Orlando Jordan, who has not appeared on TNA programming since the Feb. 18th edition of iMPACT!, resurfaces this Monday night on iMPACT! with a character “unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.”

The show, which was taped this past Tuesday in Orlando, Fla., saw Jordan lowered into the ring from the arena’s rafters wrapped in yellow police tape with the TNA logo. He then crawled through the ring and ultimately walked to a nearby white couch where he sat between a shirtless male and a sexy female. Behind the trio is the tri-colored bisexual pride flag, plus two male symbols and one female symbol. In an Impact Zone first, the segment garnered a “that was creepy” chant.

To add further details, Jordan has changed his hair again and is now wearing makeup. He also comes out barefoot à la “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka.

Here’s a picture of Jordan at Tuesday’s iMPACT! tapings:

Reaction To Young Partnering With Hardy & RVD, Kong Update

— There was said to be a collective groan among a large group of wrestlers and TNA personnel watching iMPACT! on the backstage monitor when Eric Young interrupted Rob Van Dam and Jeff Hardy’s post-match celebration on Monday. The “unanimous opinion” was that Young killed the moment due to the fact that he’s nowhere near the level of Van Dam and Hardy. While everyone describes “EY” as a nice guy, the feeling is he’s been given so much television time over the years due to his friendship with the company’s power players. (source: Pro Wrestling Torch)

— Recently released TNA Knockout Awesome Kong will be returning to the ring on May 8th for Ring of Honor. Facing Sara Del Ray, she will be using her former name of Amazing Kong.

— In a brief video interview with lethalwow.com, Angelina Love discusses being back with TNA Wrestling. She says her release from the company last year was “heartbreaking,” but that “everything happens for a reason.” Apparently in regards to her contractual status, she said she’s “back for another three years, at least.”

TNA Wrestling Reportedly Having Financial Problems

One oft-overlooked factor in TNA’s destiny to compete with rival promotion World Wrestling Entertainment are the added expenses entailed.

Since January, the company has ballooned its roster to over 70 performers with the notable additions of high priced stars such as Ric Flair, Rob Van Dam, Jeff Hardy and the former Mr. Kennedy. Furthermore, the company has added the costly expense of going live every other Monday night and promotion of said move (i.e. airing commercials during Monday Night Raw and running Billboards in Times Square). Other than slight bumps in house show attendance and merchandise sales, TNA has to little to show for its efforts. In fact, ratings are at its lowest levels in four years due to the move to Monday nights.

Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer cryptically said during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that TNA is having bigger financial problems than most realize.

“I’m worried about my friends who work for TNA because they have bigger financial problems than anyone knows,” Meltzer said.
