Impact posted the following to announce the news:

In September, ODB reached out to fans for help after her food truck burned in a fire.

Scott D’Amore Discusses Impact’s AXS TV Premiere, How They Stand Out

Impact Wrestling Vice President Scott D’Amore has opened up about the show’s premiere on AXS TV earlier this week. The show was headlined by Brian Cage versus Sami Callihan in a steel cage match for the Impact World Championship. Callihan defeated Cage to claim the title.

In an interview with Wrestling Inc. before the premiere, D’Amore spoke about how they ended up on AXS TV. He also addressed why Pursuit and Pop wasn’t the right home for the promotion.

“As people probably can understand, this isn’t the type of thing that comes together overnight,” D’Amore said. “It’s been a very long process and it goes back many months. It’s been in the works and one of the hardest things to do is just keep telling people, ‘don’t worry, we have a plan’ but not being able to say what that plan was. So, it was a pretty exciting day when we finally got to get that announcement out about AXS TV.”

He explained that “Ultimately, Pursuit was a stopgap for where we knew we were going. We were still on Pop TV when we knew that AXS was going to be our new home. But without us committing to Pop, Pop couldn’t commit to us. If we would have stayed on Pop, we would have been bounced all over the late night time slots.”

D’Amore shared that he believes Impact’s strength lies in the way they try to tell dynamic, compelling storylines in different ways. He added that this new deal with Anthem (who acquired majority ownership of AXS) gives them a firm home, claiming that “Impact is here and it’s not going anywhere.”

RVD Says Without Him There’s No Kenny Omega, Daniel Bryan Or Young Bucks

Rob Van Dam turned heel at Bound for Glory in Chicago by kicking Rhino in the head during the tag team title match. Hints about a possible heel turn for RVD date back to his initial signing with Impact this spring, however. RVD has been complaining about wrestlers stealing his moves dating back to the first media call he did on behalf of the company.

On last night’s episode, however, RVD said that not only do the wrestlers in Impact steal his moves, some of the top performers from other promotions do as well.

“Let’s face it, without RVD, there would be no Kenny Omega, there would be no Daniel Bryan. Without RVD, there would be no Young Bucks.”

He added, “I carried the whole ECW. And if you think I’m lying, who is the one wrestler to stand out?”

Impact uploaded a video of RVD’s controversial promo, which you can see here:

https://twitter.com/IMPACTWRESTLING/status/1189340474483589121

In response to a fan on Twitter who said RVD was speaking the truth, he replied, “Truthfully, I was a small 235 lb wrestler because the average guys were closer to 300 lbs and I was the only one creating and doing RVD moves. Now the average wrestler is 190 lbs and they all do my shit. Elite= petite”

Rob Van Dam and Katie Forbes In Impact Wrestling

Katie Forbes recently signed on with Impact Wrestling as well. She dropped a match to Jordynne Grace at Vegas tapings in September.

RVD also had the following to say regarding the size of some of today’s wrestlers.

Tommaso Ciampa Comments On Sami Callihan’s World Title Win

Sami Callihan won the Impact World Championship on a show which aired last night on AXS TV. Callihan defeated Brian Cage inside a steel cage to headline the card. His title win has drawn reactions from fans and wrestlers alike, with many reaching out to offer their congratulations to Sami. Unfortunately, the new Impact champion seems to not appreciate any of the positive comments he has been receiving.

Tommaso Ciampa sent out the following in regard to Sami’s victory last night:

https://twitter.com/NXTCiampa/status/1189365136731099136

Callihan wasn’t interested in exchanging pleasantries with Ciampa, however:

Host of Busted Open Radio Dave LaGreca attempted to congratulate Sami, who is a frequent guest of the show. Callihan opted to insult LaGrega in response to his comments but will still make an appearance on the show this morning.

Impact World Championship Statistics

Callihan becomes the 26th wrestler to win the Impact World Championship and begins the 46th reign in its lineage. Cage’s title reign finishes at 180 days and he sits at 11th on the all-time combined days spent as champion statistic. The top eleven Impact World Champions of all time are below:

  1. Kurt Angle (6x) 608 days
  2. Bobby Lashley (4x) 403 days

7 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 10/29

Impact Wrestling presented their debut show last night on AXS TV. The show was treated as the beginning of a new era for the promotion, with a new color scheme, presentation, and a world title change in the main event.

The show was originally taped over the weekend from Windsor’s St. Clair College.

Here are 7 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 10/29:

Sami Callihan Is The New Impact World Champion

  • Impact World Championship Steel Cage Match: Sami Callihan defeated Brian Cage (c) – New Champion

Sami Callihan needed a baseball bat and 6 piledrivers to stop the machine but he did it and now he’s the new Impact world champion. Cage arguably came out too focussed on trying to hurt Callihan and get revenge for what the Death Machine did to his wife, Melissa Santos.

The match turned when Cage charged at Callihan, missed and then went headfirst into the steel cage. Callihan would use his baseball bat and multiple piledrivers before finishing the ex-champ off with a piledriver from the second rope for the win.

Tessa Blanchard Confronts Sami Callihan To End Show

Callihan wouldn’t have long to celebrate his title win before being confronted by his bitter rival, Tessa Blanchard. Before Impact could go off the air last night, Blanchard stormed to ringside and confronted Callihan inside the cage. The show would go off the air with Callihan and Blanchard staring each other down.

“World’s Most Dangerous Man” vs “World’s Most Dangerous Manhood” Next Week

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze8EGq0Cw1E

Ken Shamrock sounded as though he was going to retire when he cut an in-ring promo this week. He was interrupted by Joey Ryan, however, who told Shamrock he still had “one more mountain to climb.”

“You’re that penis guy!” Shamrock then pointed out about Ryan. He would continue to say he’s a real fighter and Ryan is a gimmick. Ryan then said his dong would tap him out faster than the Gracie choke.

At this point, Shamrock said he has no plans to retire and that he’s putting the whole Impact roster on notice. Shamrock then said if Ryan wants his ankle snapped, he can oblige. They agreed to a match which will take place on next week’s show.

Jordynne Grace To Receive Title Shot?

  • Jordynne Grace, Rosemary & Alexia Nicole defeated Taya Valkyrie, Kiera Hogan & Madison Rayne

“Thick Mama Pump” has been a consistently good part of the Knockouts roster since debuting for the promotion a little over a year ago. Based on what happened last night on AXS TV, Grace could be the next in line for a shot at the Knockouts title.

The heel team didn’t exactly work in sync here. On multiple occasions at the end of the match, Taya went to her corner looking for a pin only to find nobody there.

Grace got the pin for her team, rolling up Taya Valkyrie for the win after Taya was not able to tag out.

Ace Austin Defeated Eddie Edwards In A Street Fight

  • Street Fight: Ace Austin defeated Eddie Edwards

The rivalry between X-Division Champion Ace Austin and Eddie Edwards continued this week. Austin loaded up his arm sleeve with a steel plate just as we have seen him do in recent weeks, and then put Edwards through a table for the win.

Austin has been referring to himself as the “XXX Division Champion” and has evidently begun a new film career or something along those lines.

Rich Swann & Willie Mack Moving Up The Tag Team Rankings

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdH3L_t-6_8
  • Rich Swann & Willie Mack defeated Desi Hit Squad (Rohit Raju & Raj Singh) w/ Gama Singh

Former X-Division Champion Rich Swann and Willie Mack have been a formidable tag team in Impact Wrestling as of late. They defeated the Great Gama Singh’s Desi Hit Squad this week. Josh Matthews would question on commentary if we are looking at a future tag team championship team.

Naomichi Marufuji Defeats Josh Alexander Of The North

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzPD03cjuDg
  • Naomichi Marufuji defeated Josh Alexander w/Ethan Page

Marufuji dropped his match to Michael Elgin at Bound For Glory but took advantage of this opportunity to get a win against Josh Alexander of the North. Marufuji would get the win with Sliced Bread Number 2 but after the match, Alexander would opt not to shake his hand.

Quick Results:

  1. Naomichi Marufuji defeated Josh Alexander w/Ethan Page
  2. Jordynne Grace, Rosemary & Alexia Nicole defeated Taya Valkyrie, Kiera Hogan & Madison Rayne
  3. Rich Swann & Willie Mack defeated Desi Hit Squad (Rohit Raju & Raj Singh) w/ Gama Singh
  4. Street Fight: Ace Austin defeated Eddie Edwards
  5. Impact World Championship Steel Cage Match: Sami Callihan defeated Brian Cage (c) – New Champion

Next Week:

  • Ken Shamrock vs Joey Ryan
  • Moose vs Willie Mack
  • Michael Elgin vs Fallah Bah

Sami Callihan Wins Impact World Title, Confronted By Tessa Blanchard

Impact Wrestling kicked off the AXS TV era in a big way Tuesday night. The show ended with a major title change, as challenger Sami Callihan defeated Impact World Champion Brian Cage.

The two competed in a no disqualification steel cage match that saw the action pour out into the ringside area. Near the end of the match, Callihan attempted to put the champion away with multiple piledrivers. Cage, however, was able to kick out.

The end of the match came after Callihan delivered a devastating avalanche piledriver from the second rope. He was finally able to secure the pinfall, claiming the Impact World Championship as his own.

This marks the first time Callihan has won the title. Cage had held the belt since April at Impact’s Rebellion event.

Here are some highlights from the bout:

Tessa Blanchard Confronts The New Champ

Following the three count, Callihan found his championship celebrations cut short as he was confronted by Tessa Blanchard. The two have previously faced each other, having headlined Impact’s Slammiversary pay-per-view in July. Callihan came away with the victory that night.

Blanchard’s confrontation appears to tease a future championship feud between the two.

Tenille Dashwood Says She Was Shocked By WWE Release

Tenille Dashwood challenged Taya Valkyrie for the Knockouts Championship at Bound For Glory. Before the event, she sat down with journalist Chris Van Vliet for an interview. During the conversation, Dashwood mentioned she was shocked when WWE released her in 2017.

“It was actually a really big shock for me,” Dashwood said regarding her release from WWE. “I had no idea. At the time, I was in a feud with Asuka and we had just done the PPV and that was her debut, her PPV debut, I think it was her actual debut as well. We had an awesome match, I remember everyone loved it and then we had a match on RAW the night after and then basically by the end of the week, I had a call saying I was released.”

Dashwood was released in October of 2017. She would sign with Ring of Honor in February of 2018 and debuted for Impact this summer.

“From what I heard it was just that…honestly, I don’t even know because I feel like there is more to it than what I was told and it was kind of a very brief conversation and not necessarily everyone agreed or whatever it was,” she continued. “Basically, I think the boss wasn’t happy with something and that was kind of it. I was very shocked because I literally was packed to go on the European tour, so a 2-week tour overseas, had my bags packed, it was on a Sunday, I was on the way to the airport basically and got a call and was like ‘what?'”

Callihan lost to Cage at Bound For Glory but would later blackmail the champion to receive another shot on the show which will air on Tuesday.

He also addressed his series of matches with Tessa Blanchard during the interview.

“Yeah, we just wrestled again at my company, The Wrestling Revolver, which you can check out on the HighSpots Wrestling Network as well as all social media platforms at PWRevolver and on the website, ProWrestlingRevolver.com,” Callihan said.

“Me and Tessa actually went to battle again and this time it was in an Ohio Street fight. Each time it gets crazier, a little crazier, a little crazier. Tessa Blanchard, I never thought I would have said this in 100 years but Tessa Blanchard has become one of the biggest rivalries of my career.”

Sami Callihan Says Impact Is Giving Fans The Attitude Era Back

Callihan was also asked about having given Melissa Santos a piledriver recently on Impact.

“Why not? It’s nothing that hasn’t been done in the Attitude Era. Everyone wanted the Attitude Era back and I think Impact Wrestling is the first company to kind of give it back to them,” Callihan said.

Tessa Blanchard Talks Inter-Gender Wrestling, Comparisons To Chyna

Tessa Blanchard took part in an interview with Chris Van Vliet recently and discussed comparisons to her inter-gender wrestling career with the legendary Chyna’s. Van Vliet asked Tessa if she thinks she could possibly win the Impact World Championship someday and Blanchard noted something like that hasn’t been done since Chyna.

“It’s not something that’s really been done since Chyna and that wasn’t even the world title. A lot of people compare me to her, a lot,” Blanchard said. “I don’t know, I think if that were to ever happen, if that were ever to be reality, that would be another way that I can make history in my own way.”

Blanchard also spoke about her passion for inter-gender wrestling during the interview:

“It’s something that I’ve always been passionate about because I trained with the guys, that’s the way I was brought up and I feel like it’s helped my timing, my transitions, my intensity, different things like that but it was actually something (Impact) approached me with and it just worked. It was very natural, not forced, it just worked and I think that’s why I love it so much.”

She specifically addressed her matches with Sami Callihan as well.

“To have the match with Sami, I didn’t know that we were going to be the main event until the night of. They told us that night and I thought they were kidding cause they mess with us all the time, I just thought they were kidding. So, that was special for me, that was my only PPV main event so far and then for it to be an inter-gender match, it’s cool because it’s a cool time for wrestling, it shows that wrestling is evolving.”

Joey Ryan Signs With Impact Wrestling

After declining offers from both WWE and AEW, famous indie wrestler Joey Ryan has decided to sign a multi-year contract with Impact Wrestling.

The news was reported by SoCal Uncensored and the wrestling star was quick to confirm these reports via a tweet, saying that the decision made the most sense:

https://twitter.com/JoeyRyanOnline/status/1186088298453913601

As Joey revealed in the tweet above, the Impact contract allows him to continue working in the independent circuit and continue playing the character he has developed in the last several years.

Joey has already made his first appearance for the company under the new contract and he made a surprise appearance at the Bound For Glory PPV during the 20-Person Call Your Shot Gauntlet Match.

It’s worth mentioning here that this is not the first time Joey Ryan is working with Impact as he has previously worked for the company from 2012 to 2013.

He made his Impact debut back in May 2012. He faced opponents like Rob Van Dam, Austin Aries, and Joseph Park during his time in the company before being released from his contract in July 2013.

Apart from Impact, he has also worked for companies such as NWA, Lucha Underground and ROH and made some appearances for WWE as well.

Jake Crist (c) vs. Tessa Blanchard vs. Daga vs. Ace Romero vs. Ace Austin This one is a ladder match for the X-Division Title. This one is total chaos from the opening bell. Romero looks for a suicide dive, but Daga and Blanchard nail him with a ladder. Daga and Blanchard crash into the corner on a ladder, while Crist drops Romero. Austin hits a back suplex on Crist, and then Daga gets back in the ring and starts hitting a flurry of kicks. Austin and Blanchard start going at it, and Blanchard sends him out to the floor. She climbs the ladder, but Romero takes her down with a Samoan drop. This one is total chaos now. Daga hits a Canadian Destroyer on Crist through a ladder bridged across the ring and the barricade. Austin then climbs a ladder and hits a dive to the outside on Daga. Romero sets up another ladder and climbs, but Tessa shoves it over and Romero falls the way down to ringside and through a table. The ladder falls out of the ring and on top of him after. Blanchard starts climbing another ladder, and Crist tries to stop her, but she hits a dive on him. Fulton comes in and throws her in the corner hard. Fulton sets up a table, and Tessa climbs the top rope. Tessa yells at Fulton “come on mother f–ker”, and she ends up giving him a hurricanrana into the ladder. Tessa climbs the ladder, but Crist runs up and meets her on top. Tessa slams Crist’s head into the ladder, then throws Crist down through a table in the ring. Tessa climbs climbing, but then Austin runs up and nails Tessa in the head iwth his baton. Austin grabs the title for the win.

Winner & new X-Division Champion: Ace Austin

– We go to a video package looking at the feud between Ken Shamrock and Moose.

– Moose and Frank Trigg cut a promo backstage before the match.

Ken Shamrock vs. Moose: Frank Trigg is at ringside for this one. Moose and Ken trade strikes in the opening moments, then Ken looks for a submission but Moose grabs the ropes. Ken dumps Moose outside, then Shamrock hits a suicide dive on Moose. They brawl at ringside now, then Shamrock hits another suicide dive on Moose. On the way back in the ring, Frank Trigg interferes, which leads to Moose fighting back in the ring. Ken leaps up from the mat and hits a hurricanrana on Moose. Ken looks for another submission, but Moose pulls the ref into Ken for a ref bump. Frank slides a steel chair in the ring and Moose picks it up. Moose yells at Shamerock, and Shamrock says “F you.” Moose swings the chair and misses. Shamrock drops Moose and puts him in the ankle lock, and the ref is now getting back to his feet. Frank Trigg gets involved again but Shamrock kicks him out of the ring. Moose starts beating on Ken now, and Moose looks for a moonsault off the top, but misses. Ken applies the ankle lock, but Moose fights out and throws Ken into the ring post. Moose hits the big spear for the three count.

Winner: Moose

– Josh Matthews and Don Callis announce Impact’s next pay-per-view, titled Hard To Kill.

– We go to a video package looking at the feud between Sami Callihan and Brian Cage.

Brian Cage (c) vs. Sami Callihan: It’s all Cage in the opening moments of this one as he pummels on Callihan. Cage uses his “Wolverine” claws to bust open Sami. The fight spills out to ringside and they take turns hitting suicide dives on each other. They continue brawling at ringside, and Sami nails Brian with a steel cage. Brian comes back and powerbombs Sami into the ring post. Sami hits a shot off the ring steps, and they trade blows at ringside now. Brian gives Sami a back suplex on the timekeeper’s table, but the table doesn’t break, so Cage gives him another one, and the table halfway-breaks this time. Brian grabs a piece of the guard rail, and he lays it across the ring steps and some unfolded chairs, like a bridge. Brian brings Sami on the ring steps, but Sami hits him with a low-blow, and then he piledrives Brian on to the bridged piece of the fan barricade. Back in the ring, Cage and Callihan trade shots, and Cage starts getting the upper hand after a kick to the head. Sami finally starts fighting back and he bits Cage. Sami hits a low blow on Cage and then superkicks him on the corner. The piece of the fan barricade is now laying up against the turnbuckle in the ring, and Sami powerbombs Cage into it for a two count. Sami pours thumbtacks in the ring now, then cage grabs him and gives him a piledriver. Cage pins but Sami kicks out at one, and Cage can’t beleive it. Cage gives Sami a suplex, and then hits his finisher on Sami on the thumb tacks for the three count. Sami and Cage are both bleeding by the end of this one.

Winner & still Champion: Brian Cage

– Cage’s wife comes out after the match and celebrates the win with Cage as Bound For Glory goes off the air.

Impact Wrestling Invites The Young Bucks To TNA-Themed Event

Matt & Nick Jackson used to be known as Jeremy and Max Buck, Generation Me, in TNA Wrestling. The brothers were with the promotion from late-2009 to 2011 and then returned for a few matches in 2013 as well. Impact will be throwing a TNA-themed event over WrestleMania weekend next year and company executive Scott D’Amore invited the former Generation Me members to participate in the show.

The North’s Ethan Page noted on Twitter that he’s excited to compete on a TNA-themed event.

Matt Jackson then responded to Page’s comments with the following:

https://twitter.com/MattJackson13/status/1185795086379913217

Ethan Page then put down the challenge for Generation Me to take on the North at the event:

Scott D’Amore then offered up the following:

Scott D’Amore on Generation Me vs the North

D’Amore offered up more thoughts in subsequent Tweets.

“Ethan and Josh carry on the tradition of Team Canada proudly but with their own twist which makes it ever sweeter As for @TheMooseNation, he is a student who makes me proud and a friend for life. Hell, he’s been to my mom’s for (Canadian) Thanksgiving! It’s called ribbing man!” D’Amore said in a further Tweet.

Joey Ryan, who debuted with the promotion at Melissa Santos’ bachelorette party, also commented in the thread.

Impact Twitch Stream Halted As Josh Matthews Needed His Phone Back (Video)

Impact Wrestling’s live stream of their All Glory event last night on Twitch was momentarily halted as announcer Josh Matthews needed to take back his phone which was in the process of filming and streaming the show.

Fans on Twitter captured the events and posted them online.

https://twitter.com/CraigHermit2/status/1185750000342650880?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1185750000342650880&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ewrestlingnews.com%2Fnews%2Fjosh-mathews-needed-his-phone-back-after-impact-all-glory-twitch-stream-was-halted

Other users on Twitter were noting that the venue has poor internet reception which might be what led to the production issues Impact experienced:

Despite the production issues, many fans online are posting about how good of a show it was:

7 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 10/18

Impact Wrestling 10/18 was the go-home show before Sunday’s Bound for Glory PPV in Chicago. It is being reported that a crowd of around 3000 people is expected for tomorrow’s event. This week’s show emanated from Las Vegas’ Sam’s Town Live.

Here are 7 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 10/18:

Sami Callihan Sends A Message To Brian Cage Ahead of Bound For Glory

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYuK3nsCkNw

Sami Callihan cut a chilling promo this week. He talked about having previously been signed to a major company but being told he had to change how he does things. Callihan would continue to say that nobody ever “gets him” and apologized for things he has done since arriving in Impact Wrestling, including ruining the wedding between Brian Cage and Melissa Santos. He said all he’s ever wanted is to be accepted and that the person he is now is not the person he wanted to be but rather the person the fans made him.

The North Has A Gameplan For Sunday

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b84e_ihV4Os

Ethan Page and Josh Alexander must face two teams on Sunday when they defend their belts against both Rich Swann & Willie Mack and Rhino & Rob Van Dam. This week, a triple threat match between Josh Alexander, Rhino, and Rich Swann took place.

Ethan Page pulled the referee out of the ring to break up a 3-count, then claimed it was Willie Mack who did so. The confusion allowed Swann to get the pin and led to some dissension amongst the two babyface teams, something the North was counting on.

Jake Crist Shows Why He’s The X-Division Champion

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_4G9XdfPeA

Not too many people are giving Jake Crist much of a chance in the Bound for Glory ladder match. Considering the level of competition he’ll face in the match, many assume Sunday will be the last day in the title reign of Jake Crist. This week, Crist defeated Chris Bey with a super-cutter from the top, however, showing he’s got the talent needed to retain his title on Sunday.

Taya Valkyrie Confident Ahead Of Match With Tenille Dashwood At Bound For Glory

Taya Valkyrie cut a promo in front of a mirror this week, talking about how far she has come in her career. Valkyrie talked about becoming Lucha royalty and the longest-reigning Knockouts champion of all-time. At Bound For Glory, Taya seems confident that Tenille Dashwood won’t take that title away from her.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IO7wDRlSreo

This week Elgin kicked things off on Impact with a victory over Fallah Bah, sending another message to his opponent on tomorrow’s PPV.

Mahabali Shera Wins Battle Royal

Jordynne Grace Wants To Be Impact Tag Team Champion With Tessa Blanchard

Impact wrestler Jordynne Grace says that she wants to tag with Tessa Blanchard and challenge for the tag team championships.

Jordynne recently spoke to Fightful where she talked about a number of topics and gave her thoughts on women in Impact Wrestling.

Grace thinks that women in Impact are getting more opportunities now and that the promotion is slowly building up their women’s division. Grace thinks the main event intergender match at Slammiversary between Sami Callihan and Tessa Blanchard shows that women and men are on the same level in the company.

Jordynne said, “At Slammiversary, they had the main event was an intergender match. So I think they’re definitely starting to build the women just as much as the men at this point. We’re side by side. It’s not like the women’s division is under the men’s division at all. They’re given equal opportunity and they’re putting eyes on both products. I think they have a really distinct vision of what they’re gonna do just by hearing what they say in the talent meetings and hearing what they say to me personally. I’m super excited in the direction everything is going. I think people, maybe they’re not going to be surprised, but they’re going to be really happy with what’s coming up.”

Jordynne says she wants to challenge for the Impact World Tag Team Championship with Tessa Blanchard as her partner. She believes her team and current champions The North (Ethan Page and Josh Alexander) will put on an incredible match.

“So, me and Tessa [Blanchard], we really, really want to tag team and we wanna challenge for the tag team titles. And I think Ethan Page and Josh Alexander, I think it would just be an incredible match. I think it would blow it out of the park. And I think that’d be awesome to see. I don’t know if they’ve ever had an intergender tag championship match like that, but I think it’d be really cool.”

Grace made her debut for Impact Wrestling on November 8, 2018. Before that though, she made a name for herself in the indie scene where she became a regular of Beyond Wrestling, Women’s Wrestling Revolution, SHINE, NOVA Pro, Pro Wrestling Magic, Black Label Pro Wrestling, and several other promotions.

7 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 10/11

Impact Wrestling was inside Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas this week as they continue to build toward Bound for Glory on October 20th. This was the penultimate episode before the PPV and 3rd last before the show moves to Tuesday nights.

Here are 7 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 10/11:

Sami Callihan Piledrives Melissa Santos

The members of OVE were beating down Daga and Tessa Blanchard after this week’s main event. Impact World Champion Brian Cage attempted to make the save but this brought out Sami Callihan and Cage would fall victim to the numbers game.

OVE would then handcuff Cage to the ropes which brought out Melissa Santos to implore them to stop. Callihan would then give Melissa Santos a piledriver in front of a handcuffed Cage to end the show.

Tessa Blanchard Pins The X-Division Champion

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHvuxK_HIAU

Tessa Blanchard pinned the X-Division champion in tag team action this week. Blanchard and Daga have each already qualified for the X-Division ladder match at Bound for Glory. Daga took out Fulton on the outside which allowed Blanchard to hit Magnum on “the Golden Draw” for the win.

Ace Austin also qualified for the ladder match earlier in the show and Rohit Raju will face Sabu next week with the winner receiving the final spot in the match.

Tenille Dashwood Gives Taya A Taste Of What’s Coming At Bound For Glory

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMBz73vOEUI

In storyline, Taya broke this record a few weeks ago. In reality, Taya will pass Taryn Terrell’s record for longest single reign with the Knockouts championship later this week. Taya is currently sitting at 277+ days as champion, with Terrell’s record 279.

Tenille Dashwood was on commentary as Taya took on Havok this week in Vegas. John E Bravo would cause the disqualification, saving Taya’s title. Havok then took her frustrations out on Bravo. With Havok’s attention on Bravo, Taya hit her with the championship belt.

Dashwood then hit the ring and delivered a beatdown to the champion and gave her a taste of what she’ll get at Bound for Glory.

Ken Shamrock Rescues Stephan Bonnar From Moose

Stephan Bonnar technically defeated Moose via DQ this week after Moose put his hands on an official. Bonnar was busted open during the match, however, and Moose continued the beatdown after the bell.

Ken Shamrock ended up making the save and getting the better of Moose to close the segment. Only one episode left until these two throw down at Bound for Glory. Frank Trigg was going to make the save for Moose but Bonnar prevented him from doing so.

Jordynne Grace Teaches Katie Forbes A Lesson

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUimsjCSSvI

Thick Mama Pump picked up a victory over Katie Forbes this week. Earlier in the night, Forbes and Grace interacted in the back when Forbes mistook Grace for someone who might park her car. Grace was generally not impressed with Forbes’ twerking but picked up the win with the Grace Driver.

Ace Austin Got A New T-Shirt…

There is a new take on the Austin 3:16 shirt available from ShopImpact.com. Ace Austin debuted a shirt this week which reads “I Just Banged Your Wife” on the back. This week Austin and Eddie Edwards faced off in a match where the winner would qualify for the X-Division ladder match at Bound for Glory.

With Impact in Vegas, Austin had the members of Reno Scum available to help him in this match. As Reno Scum distracted the referee, Austin loaded a piece of steel into his arm sleeve and hit Edwards in the face with it and pinned him.

The Desi Hit Squad Defeat The Rascalz

Now that the Great Gama Singh has Mahabali Shera in his faction, there might be little stopping them now. Shera dominated the members of the Rascalz and thus allowed for his team to pick up the win.

The loss is a blow to the Rascalz, who will face Dr. Wagner Jr. and two of his teammates to be named later at Bound for Glory.

Quick Results:

  1. X-Division Ladder Match Qualifier: Ace Austin defeated Eddie Edwards
  2. The Desi Hit Squad defeated the Rascalz
  3. Knockouts Championship: Havok defeated Taya Valkyrie (c) via DQ
  4. Jordynne Grace defeated Katie Forbes
  5. Daga & Tessa Blanchard defeated Jake Crist & Madman Fulton

7 Takeaways From Impact Wrestling 10/4

Impact Wrestling from October 5th, 2019 took place inside Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas. Michael Elgin vs TJP headlined the show.

Here are 7 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 10/5:

Brian Cage Arrested For Attacking Fan He Thought Was OVE Member

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mON48r1q0jk

Last week on Impact Wrestling, Sami Callihan swung a beer bottle at Brian Cage but missed and hit Cage’s newlywed wife Melissa Santos. This week Cage came looking for Callihan and let his emotions get the better of him.

As Cage hit the ring to confront Callihan, the members of OVE attempted to fight him off while Callihan eventually tried to flee through the crowd. As Cage was near the guardrail chasing after Callihan, a fan patted him on the back and Cage mistook him for a member of OVE. Cage tossed the fan from the stands into the ring area and police in attendance ended up taking him away in handcuffs.

Later in the night, Callihan was seen in the back trying to tell Mellissa Santos what happened was an accident.

Tessa Blanchard Backs Up Daga Against OVE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9sjVJc8a6M

Daga qualified for the X-division ladder match at Bound for Glory by defeating Chris Bey this week. X Division champion Jake Crist was at ringside and he and his brother attempted to soften up Daga before the Pay-Per-View after the match. Daga received some backup from another wrestler who has qualified for that match, however, Tessa Blanchard.

It looks like it Jake Crist’s title reign could be coming to an end in Chicago and it looks like Tessa won’t stop until she’s gotten revenge on the members of OVE.

Michael Elgin Is Ready For Marufuji

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5rjvYTfOsg

Michael Elgin has a dream match upcoming at Bound for Glory when he takes on Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Naomichi Marufuji. This week Elgin defeated TJP in the main event and sent a message to his upcoming opponent for the PPV.

Eddie Edwards Teams With His Kendo Stick And Defeats Reno Scum

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDnSWip3Grw

Eddie Edwards was seen in the back this week talking with Tommy Dreamer. He told Dreamer that he wasn’t drunk last week at the wedding but had actually been drugged by the members of Reno Scum. He told Dreamer he learned this by watching Impact Wrestling on TV. This also means Edwards has likely witnessed Ace Austin making “advances” on his wife since the summer.

Dreamer offered to team with Eddie to take on the members of Reno Scum this week but ultimately Eddie decided to team with his inanimate object kendo stick named Kenny instead. Not only that, Eddie and Kenny would pick up the victory utilizing some slick double team maneuvers on the Nevada-based tag team. While the win was likely cathartic for Edwards, He’s likely got his eyes on Ace Austin next.

Ace Austin was also seen in the back this week speaking with Alisha Edwards. As usual, Austin was not altogether genuine in his words or actions.

Tenille Dashwood is Ready For Taya But The Champ Has A Plan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYaaC13Bh4o

Tenille Dashwood picked up a win in triple threat action to kickoff Impact Wrestling this week. Dashwood managed to take advantage of Kiera Hogan and Madison Rayne’s enemy/friend relationship and pinned Rayne to win the match.

Dashwood will challenge Knockouts champion Taya Valkyrie in Chicago at the Bound for Glory pay-per-view. While Dashwood is coming into the match on a roll, we would see Taya Valkyrie enlist the help of Havok later in the show. Taya was shown in the back explaining to Havok and Father James Mitchell that if they take out Dashwood before Bound for Glory, they can have the title shot in her place.

Moose & Ken Shamrock Come To Blows Ahead of Bound For Glory

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vKrc_eiiwo

Moose announced that Frank Trigg will help train him for his upcoming match against Ken Shamrock. Shamrock interrupted Moose’s promo, however, and belittled Moose’s NFL career.

Moose refused to answer questions but Josh Matthews attempted to organize a face-off for a photo-op but the disdain between the two was too intense and things came to blows.

Johnny Swinger Is Stuck In the 80s But Back In Impact Wrestling

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqUBO-yIFuo

Johnny Swinger is stuck in the 1980s but despite this managed to pick up a victory over Owen Travers this week in his return to the promotion. We have seen several vignettes in recent weeks featuring Swinger doing “curls for the girls” and generally seeming stuck in a decade fans under 30 never experienced.

In addition to being a regular on the ECW roster, Swinger was also with TNA from 2003-04.

Quick Results:

  1. Tenille Dashwood defeated Madison Rayne vs Kiera Hogan (triple threat)
  2. Johnny Swinger defeated Owen Travers
  3. Eddie Edwards & Kenny defeated Reno Scum
  4. Daga defeated Chris Bey
  5. Michael Elgin defeated TJP

Ed Nordholm Comments On Killer Kross Situation, Impact on AXS & More

Impact Wrestling executive Ed Nordholm recently addressed several questions regarding Killer Kross, Anthem’s purchase of AXS TV and more. Nordholm spoke with PW Insider when making the comments.

Ed Nordholm on NJPW On AXS TV

“We enjoy (NJPW) on AXS TV and look forward to continuing that relationship,” Nordholm responded when asked about the company. “I think I’ve said it a couple of times since we acquired [AXS], to anybody asking, between New Japan, Women of Wrestling, Impact….my view of the world that AXS TV will be the destination to watch wrestling. We’ve got a great lineup and look forward to working with New Japan and Women of Wrestling.”

Ed Nordholm on Killer Kross-Impact Situation

Nordholm was also asked about where things stand with the Killer Kross situation:

“Well, nothing has changed. Kevin decided that he would rather sort of tweet his position rather than deal with [inaudible]. We prefer talents discuss amendments as appropriate. We say the same for Kevin. He is a talented wrestler that we would prefer you to see in the ring than on the sidelines.”

He was then asked if there was a possibility Kross could return to the promotion someday:

“Yeah. Well, that would require him to come speak to the company and deal with his company, rather than Tweet. I mean there’s always the possibility. We are open to all conversations.”

Nordholm would also state communication continues with Kross’ representatives.

Ed Nordholm Message To Wrestling Fans About Impact’s Product

There’s all kinds of content available, but we know that we have a unique show. If you look at how we have programmed the show over the last 18 months, 24, how many months since Scott [D’Amore] and Don [Callis] have been doing this…it’s been a consistent product [for] our fans and anyone who wants to watch it. So now I think we’re in a location, in a time slot, in a place where people can and should find us and we’re confident if they watch, they’ll enjoy it,” Nordholm concluded.

The full conversation with Ed Nordholm is available here.
