Married Wrestling Couple Apparently Splits Up

It appears as though former IMPACT Wrestling stars Davey Richards and Angelina Love are no longer together. Love noted on her Instagram account that she and Richards have called it quits after adjusting her profile description to “Single Mama, Wrestler, 1st Ever 6x Knockouts Champion, Medical Esthetician, Actress & Student”

Love and Richards started seeing each other back in January of 2015 and were married in June of that same year. They welcomed their first child into the world, David Vincent Richards, back in March of 2016. Richards departed from IMPACT Wrestling this past July, and Love was granted her release form the company one month later.

Impact Wrestling Announces Newest Knockouts Tournament Competitor

Sienna, Laurel Van Ness, Madison Rayne, and Rosemary are all confirmed for the 6-Knockout tournament to determine a new champion. Impact Wrestling has now released the name of the 5th confirmed participant: KC Spinelli.

The 6th participant is still unknown.

KC Spinelli

The 32-year-old Spinelli is an 8-year veteran out of Toronto, home of Anthem Sports & Entertainment. The most recent set of tapings was Spinelli’s first with Impact. She has also competed for the Smash Promotion in Toronto, Shimmer, and a host of other independent organizations.

Spinelli also represented Canada along with Taya Valkyrie and Allie at the AAA Lucha Libra World Cup last year.

Billy Corgan On His Lawsuit Against Anthem, Reacts To Rockstar Spud’s Departure From Impact Wrestling

Billy Corgan recently appeared on Sean Waltman’s podcast, X-Pac12360, to talk about various topics. Here are the highlights:

Owning the NWA:

“What I love about wrestling is that it really has an unlimited schedule creativity, and who you work with and the ideas that they have. I’m very excited about the future of wrestling and NWA because I have nobody standing in my way with my crazy ideas.”

Rockstar Spud’s departure from Impact Wrestling:

“First off, I can’t believe they let him go. He’s one of the most talented people, literally can do anything. Let’s set aside his size, he’s obviously not a big guy but beyond his size. There isn’t anything he can’t do, he’s a great talker, ring technician he can put together a great match. Any spot you put him in. He really is a super talented guy.”

His lawsuit against Anthem:

“It gets super complicated with the lawsuit that I had filed because at that point anthem was on some sort of side of the fence, representing the interest of their own at that time. They were a minority owner called this company air-lux who was doing production and then Dixie Carter. Not saying they lined up against me with the lawsuit to be made to go away but it was anthem who settled the suit since they were taking over the company.”

EC3 Discusses Rockstar Spud’s IMPACT Wrestling Departure

IMPACT Wrestling star EC3 recently did an interview with The Mirror in the UK to discuss several professional wrestling topics. ECW discussed recent IMPACT Wrestling departures, Rockstar Spud leaving the company, and how IMPACT can re-cement itself. Here are some of the highlights:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nj6jLXd3ftY

Impact, as many fans will know, has undergone so many changes over the past year that at times it’s been a bit bewildering trying to keep up…

“Try working here.”

Those changes have included a lot of talent departures, including your good friend Rockstar Spud, from Birmingham, England.

“Oh my mate, my mate Spud has departed! He has and he is one of the most talented people I have been around and one of the biggest students of the game in this industry. Despite the hell I have put him through and what we have done to each other, I can hearken back to the good old days and what we once were, and I know deep down, in the in the cockles of my heart, that little b*****d will be just fine.”

I don’t blame you! There have been other people who have been a big part of Impact over the last few years leaving the company – Low Ki, Robbie E, Spud, Taryn Terrell and even referee Earl Hebner. What do you think Impact needs to look to do now, to re-cement itself?

“I think people over complicate changes in the business. People come, people go, no matter where a talent is, we’re all gears in a machine in a way, so things do change and just because they do change, it doesn’t mean they are changing in a negative for either the talent or the company. This place is wide open and opportunities are aplenty for people to get an opportunity, to step up and challenge for top spots, people – pun intended – to make an Impact.

“So the platform is there for them to do that. I wouldn’t have had an opportunity if I hadn’t have come over and made that impact as well, to get that different opportunity and change where I was and who I am. Change is good. Change is not the worse thing ever, change is not the writing on the wall or negativity, change is necessary for growth and that comes from both a talent and a company perspective.”

Bobby Lashley Says He Is Like Paul Heyman’s Side Chick

Main Event Radio interviewed former Impact World Champion Bobby Lashley last week where Lashley talked about a number of wrestling related topics. Below are some of the highlights of his interview:

Being in Canada:

“I like Canada. The fans here are great. It’s always good to come up here with some good energy. Coming out to different territories after being the same area for such a long time. It’s good to get a different group of fans. I’ve heard Toronto might be next, I would be happy to go there. We are going to be going back and forth. Orlando is our home we will back there too.”

Match with Brock Lesnar:

“There’s not too much time left on my contract but I like it here. There are some big fights and big matches that people are constantly bugging me about that I have to consider. The only natural one is Brock [Lesnar]. Whether it’s in fighting or wrestling, that match needs to happen. If he retires without doing that match, it’s stupid. If I retire before doing that match, it’s stupid. I could post a picture of my kids or of me eating a Popsicle and people will ask me when I’m going back to WWE when I’ll go against Brock. It’s one of those things that if the fans want it and beg for it enough, it’ll happen.”

Seeing himself as Paul Heyman’s side chick:

“I’m going to send Paul [Heyman] another tweet. Paul will reach out to me out of nowhere with a tweet or text. Those are the times where Brock kind of pisses him off a little bit. Then he calls me and sees how I’m doing. Then him and Brock make up and he disappears. I think Paul says if Brock pisses him off enough and he needs to bring someone in to shut him up I’m the man. But then they make up and he leaves me alone. Then I get another tweet out of nowhere and then he disappears again. It’s kind of like the boyfriend and girlfriend, where the boyfriend says he’s going to cheat on her and then she cooks him dinner and he changes his mind. Heyman is a big tease to me. I am the side chick. I’m okay with it. The side chick usually gets whatever she wants at the end of the day. Maybe it’ll happen one day – Lesnar vs Lashley.”

Impact Wrestling Removes Several Wrestlers From Roster

Impact Wrestling has updated their official roster list and several names have been removed.

Many wrestlers have parted ways with the promotion over the last few months. James Storm, Rockstar Spud, Eddie Edwards, and Robbie E are all no longer with the company. The recent changes to their roster confirm 5 other departures:

Wrestlers Removed From Impact Wrestling Roster

Swoggle (aka Hornswoggle) is now gone from Impact. His last match with the company was back in May when he defeated Rockstar Spud.

Alisha Edwards – Spouse of Eddie Edwards, the last time we saw Alisha was at Slammiversary when her and Eddie defeated Angelina Love and Davey Richards.

Mahabali Shera – WWE might have an interest in this Indian-born bodybuilder. Shera had been with the company since 2014 and last appeared for the promotion in August.

the Veterans of War – the team consists of Anthony Gregory Mayweather, who you might remember better as Crimson and former NWA Heavyweight Champion, Jax Dane. They have been performing as a team on the independent circuit in Tennessee the last couple of months.

Alberto El Patron Responds To Eli Drake’s Comments About His Suspension

After winning the Impact World Championship, The New Champion Eli Drake had commented on the former Champion Alberto El Patron’s suspension, stating that he doesn’t know whether or not he should be brought back to the company.

Now Alberto has responded to the comments of Drake during a recent conference call with WrestlingInc among other things. Below are some of the highlights from the call:

The comments of Eli Drake:

“To be honest, I don’t know anything about what Eli said after my suspension, which everyone knows was a wrongful suspension. I don’t really know, but whatever Eli said, he’s gonna have to back it up in the ring. He had the opportunity to be in the ring with me once, I took him to school, I taught him a lesson, and I think he had an amazing match for the first time in his life but it was because he was in the ring with Alberto El Patron, So whatever he said in the ring after my suspension, I don’t really care, because as you know, if I ever open my mouth I always back it up in the ring or in the streets or anywhere I have to back it up. I’m gonna have the opportunity to be in the ring with him pretty soon.

The difference between him and Drake:

“The difference between him and I, I earned that title, I fought for that title against one of the best performers in the world Bobby Lashley, and I won that title after hitting the 1-2-3 from the referee. He got it handed [to him], it was a present, it was an early Christmas present for Eli Drake. He’s not a real champion, real champions get their titles and get their victories in the battle.”

Impact moving to Canada:

“To me it’s fantastic. To be honest, when I joined Impact Wrestling I never understood why we were just doing it in Orlando. We need to go to other places, we need to give the opportunity to other people to see what Impact Wrestling has to offer,” he said. “So to me it’s fantastic that we’re not doing the tapings this time in Orlando and we are here in Canada, in this beautiful country. Of course the weather sucks, because it’s too cold out here (laughs). But the country is beautiful, I had the opportunity to perform in Canada so many times in the past and I know how passionate and how crazy the fans get when they get good pro-wrestling, and I’m 100 percent sure that’s exactly how it’s gonna be in the next few days. I hope the next time we get to do the tapings in Mexico!”

Spoiler: James Storm Apparently Done With Impact Wrestling

It appears that after the likes of Magnus and Matt Morgan, James Storm is the latest TNA veteran who will be leaving the company now known as Impact Wrestling.

The former World Champion lost to Dan Lambert in a match during the latest tapings with the stipulation that Storm will have to leave the company if he lost.

This is the final tapings before James’ contract expires in January next year. So it’s believed that he will be leaving the company, which he has been with since the very beginning, after this.

It’s worth mentioning here that Storm hinted about his departure during a recent media call saying that you never know what the future holds and there might be a new door opening:

“There’s a lot that I can’t really talk about, but I always say: you never know what the future holds, There might be a new door opening, I don’t know. All I can do is work my butt off, get in the best shape I can, just show up to work and do what I’m told.”

James Storm started working for TNA during the early days of the company back in 2002 and apart from a couple of appearance for NXT in 2015, he has been associated with Impact ever since.

No word yet on what’s next for the former Champion but we’ll keep you posted on any further development in the situation.

Update On Rockstar Spud to WWE

Following Rockstar Spud’s recent departure from Impact Wrestling, the former X-Division Champion is expected to be joining WWE as part of the cruiserweight division.

To update the situation, PWInsider reports that Spud will be signing with the company once his visa paperwork is finalized.

205 Live lost Neville and Austin Aries this year, but Spud and NXT star Hideo Itami are being brought in to bolster the show.

Last week, former TNA President Dixie Carter posted a photo on Twitter with a group of Impact Wrestling wrestlers and staff members. This was a ‘farewell dinner’ held for Spud, who is heading back to the UK.

Another Departure From Impact Wrestling

Bram (Thomas Latimer) announced on Twitter that he has been granted his release from Impact Wrestling.

Bram is a former TNA King of the Mountain champion and was with the company since 2014. He’s been working for Scotland’s Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) in recent months.

Bram is the latest in a long list of departures from Impact Wrestling. With Anthem still in the process of drastic cost cutting, more departures are expected in the coming weeks.

Spoilers: Impact Tapings Results From Ottawa (11/6)

Impact Wrestling held the first night of this week’s TV tapings on Monday from Ottawa, Canada. Thanks to MrEddyG and Wrestling Inc for the report:

Eli Drake is out with Chris Adonis. Adonis sings the champ’s praises. Eli took his jacket off and threw it outside and hit a floor director while he was down to fix the camera cable. Eli says he has the night off because there’s nobody left to challenge him. He trashes Canada until comes Petey Williams comes out.

Eli says he’ll give him a shot – maybe next week. Petey comes to ring and sets up Eli for a Canadian Destroyer but Adonis pulls him out to safety. JB announces that the match will happen later. Also during the break Mondo is talking to someone looking for Alberto.

Matt Sydal defeated Sonjay Dutt

– Jimmy Jacobs has joined the commentary team. Sydal was very aggressive working over Sonjay’s leg even outside near us! Sydal wins with The Shooting Star Press. EC3 comes down with his Grand Title and runs Matt down for choking in the big moments before leaving.

Jeremy Borash comes to the ring with a representative from NOAH. GHC Champion Eddie Edwards vs Fantasima. JB does the in ring introductions. Eddie retains with Die Hard. Solid match and they shake hands after.

oVe & Sami Callihan defeated Ray Steele, Phil Atlas and Marcus

– oVe and Sami win a squash. LAX (Konnan, Ortiz & Santana) come out to confront them and Homicide appears from the other side. LAX gets the better of the exchange and Homicide sets up Sami for the Gringo Killer, but he’s pulled outside and spits at LAX. Real classy.

McKenzie Mitchell is interviewing Global Forged winner Hakim Zane, but Johnny Impact just tosses him aside to the ground in a funny way. Alberto El Patron shows up and they brawl backstage. They fight everywhere – outside even – in a great brawl that you gotta see to believe. Johnny’s truly an amazing athlete.

They eventually head to the ring where Alberto trashes the fans & the company before teasing a fight, but turns to leave. Johnny says he’s not even the pride of his father which causes Alberto to get in the ring where they brawl some more. Alberto gets the cross arm breaker in the ropes on the outside before referees finally send him away.

JB is in the ring to introduce Gail Kim. JB says someone wants to introduce someone in the back and Allie gets in the ring. Gail gives a speech to young women to follow their dreams like she did. Gail thanks Trish, Lisa, Kong and Taryn Terrell and relinquishes the Women’s Title.

Dan Lambert comes down trashes Canada, the fans and demands that Impact grant Bobby Lashley his release. Moose arrives to beat up Dan until Lashley, King Mo and members of American Top Team sneak attack him. James Storm comes to help and smashes a beer bottle in one of their faces.

Desmond Xavier, Sonjay Dutt & Garza Jr. defeated Trevor Lee, Andrew Everett & Taiji Ishimori

– The faces get the win after Lee & Everett have trouble working with Ishimori. Good fast paced action.

Impact Grand Champion EC3 defeated Fallah Bahh

– BAHH was very over with the crowd who chanted “BAHH! BAHH!” for his offence. BAHH won the first round, EC3 got the second round. In the third Bahh was going for a second rope Banzai Drop but EC3 moved and rolled him up to retain.

LAX’s Homicide, Santana & Ortiz (w/ Konnan) defeated OVE & Sami Callihan

– It was a straight up regular match-no stipulations, and unfortunately, no Diamante again.

Impact World Champion Eli Drake defeated Petey Williams

– Great, great match. The outcome never really seemed in doubt but Petey hit a Canadian Destroyer for a very close near fall. He tried for another, but Eli reversed it into The Gravy Train to win.

One Night Only Match Taping:

Alberto El Patron defeated “Cowboy” James Storm

– This was the last match of the night. A bit of comedy with Alberto asking why this good looking blonde woman was with a guy with an LAX shirt? A long solid match with Alberto winning with Storm tied upside down on the second rope and Alberto hits The Double Stomp off the top. The crowd was split for both men. This was a better show than BFG by far.

Impact Hiring Paid Audience Members To Attend This Week’s TV Tapings

Following Sunday’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view, Impact Wrestling will be taping months of television this week from Ottawa, Canada.

The Smyth Casting agency put out a call looking seeing “PAID background actors” to sit in the audience for the shows.

Interested parties will be paid $12.50 per hour for 4 hours of “work.” Applicants are allowed to “work” more than one day and “may be given signs to hold.”

“You are encouraged to look at wrestlers on the website (https://impactwrestling.com/) and make your own signs, that would be very helpful – and you will get more face time on TV!!”

Paying 75 fans $50 per day to 75 fans to attend 4 days of tapings would see Impact coughing up $15,000 – not counting Smith Casting’s fees.

You can view the full “job” listing here.

https://twitter.com/smythcasting/status/927672413567012865

You will get to sit in the audience and watch a thrilling night of wrestling provided to you by IMPACT! Each day of filming will be 4 hours long.

Earl Hebner Gone From Impact Wrestling

Add Earl Hebner to the long list of people no longer with Impact Wrestling. He reportedly parted ways with the company earlier this week.

Hebner had a long career in WWE (1988-2005) before joining Impact back in 2006. He was inducted into the Impact Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2015.

Earl Hebner is the fourth Impact referee to depart the company this week, along with his son Brian Hebner, Robert King and Brian Stiffler.

Impact Wrestling is headed to Canada this weekend for Bound For Glory and next week’s Impact tapings and will be using local referees for those shows to minimize production costs.

Other departures this week include Rockstar Spudd, Marshe Rockett and MJ Jenkins.

Another Departure From Impact Wrestling

The mass exodus of talent from Impact Wrestling continues as referee Brian Stifler announced on Twitter that he is no longer with the company.

The news comes following the departures of referees Brian Hebner and Robert King earlier this week. Impact Wrestling is headed to Canada this weekend for Bound For Glory and next week’s Impact tapings. They will be using local referees for the shows to minimize production costs.

As noted, Rockstar Spudd, Marshe Rockett and MJ Jenkins also parted with Impact Wrestling over the past few days. It’s rumored that WWE is interested in using Spudd for 205 Live.

Johnny Impact Discusses Possible WWE Return, Facing Eli Drake At Bound For Glory, More

Johnny Impact, who is set to challenge Eli Drake for the Global Title at this Sunday’s Bound For Glory PPV, recently spoke with The Mirror UK to promote the event. Here are the highlights:

Possible WWE return:

“Yeah, it’s kind of tough to answer that question. Because wrestling is wrestling and you can never say never in wrestling. You never know what is going to happen in the next six months. There’s a ton of people in WWE who I haven’t had the chance to wrestle, who I would love to have matches with. But there’s still a ton of people outside of WWE who I haven’t had the chance to wrestle, who I would love to have matches with. I would love to see Lucha Underground continue to grow and become something bigger than what it is – the same for Impact. It feels rewarding to be a part of something from day one like Lucha Underground and see it grow to what it is now. We had a screening party to celebrate the season finale and we were celebrating that at the same time as building up for Bound for Glory. Then at the same time I had a huge title defence against Dr Wagner for AAA. So it’s a really good time and it’s a fun time and I don’t think I’ve ever been in this business where it felt there was a better time to be an independent wrestler than right now.”

Facing Drake at the event:

“Yeah, I’ve known Eli Drake for years because we both live in Los Angeles, but I had never worked with him prior to coming to Impact. I was really impressed. It’s going to sound like a backhanded compliment, but he really exceeded my expectations. He’s really stepped up his game. That’s the exact thing that Impact needs right now. Unfortunately for him, I can take even bigger steps, so when my game gets stepped up, he’s in trouble!

That’s the exact word, underrated. He has levelled up his ring work, that’s really what I was mentioning just then. He’s always been heralded for his mic skills and they are still there, but he’s really stepped up his ring work, which is cool, because that’s what I feel the champion of a promotion needs to do.”

Several More Departures From Impact Wrestling

Following the departures of Rockstar Spud and Marshe Rockett, several more performers are no longer with Impact Wrestling, including Knockout MJ Jenkins and referees Brian Hebner and Robert King.

Hebner said he was granted his release upon request and thanked everybody in the locker room.

Freelance referee Robert Moore tweeted:

https://twitter.com/refrobking/status/925933577707180032

Impact Wrestling is headed to Canada this weekend for Bound For Glory and next week’s Impact tapings. The company will be using local referees for the shows to minimize production costs.

Impact In Talks With NJPW, Issues Apology to Okada

New Japan Pro Wrestling commentator Don Callis is reportedly bound for Impact Wrestling. Although he has allegedly not yet signed with the company he is expected to be revealed as an on air talent as early as November, January at the latest. Interestingly Callis will not be leaving New Japan, which has ignited rumors of a potential partnership between the two companies.

During a recent visit with current working partners Pro Wrestling NOAH, Impact employee Scott D’Amore announced that he had met with New Japan officials and spoke to the locker room directly, confirming that Callis was heading to Impact.

D’Amore also made a point to apologise to IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada, who had previously been a member of the TNA roster and had been booked in a detrimental way, being made to dress like Kato from the Green Hornet and play Samoa Joe’s lackey being two of the more memorable creative decisions during his time in Florida.

New Japan currently have a close working relationship with Ring of Honor and it is likely that they will not be looking to join forces once again with Impact, however we will keep you up to date as the story develops.

Rockstar Spud Done With Impact, Rumored For 205 Live

Former X Division Champion Rockstar Spud has reportedly been granted his release from Impact Wrestling. Both sides came to terms on a release about 2-3 weeks ago.

Spud joins the long list of recent departures from Impact that includes Taryn Terrell, Eddie Kingston, Robbie E, Jeff Jarrett and Reno Scum. He joined the company back in 2012 after winning the first season of their TV Reality Show British Bootcamp.

According to a report at PWInsider, WWE is interested in signing Spud and featuring him in the Cruiserweight division as part of 205 Live.

Spud last wrestled for Impact back in May this year when he competed in a street fight against Swoggle.

Bobby Lashley Says A Match With Brock Lesnar ‘Needs To Be Done’

Bobby Lashley has expressed his urge to fight Brock Lensar multiple times in the past and he continued chasing a match against the Beast during his recent interview with Hannibal TV. Below are some of the highlights from Lasley’s latest interview:

Match against Brock Lesnar:

“It’s not on me, it’s on him. I’m not the type to call people out. I have mad respect for Brock and I have mad respect for everybody in the fight business and in the wrestling business. But I think it’s just one of those things that needs to be done.”

On people nowadays wanting to see different contests:

“There’s big matchups all the way across the board. They looked at Brock fighting Jon Jones, that was one thing that was talked about, everybody was like, ‘Oh, that’s awesome!’ Floyd Mayweather fighting Conor [McGregor], these are different matchups that people want to see. I think right now people are starting to move more into that entertainment aspect of wanting to see those different contests and different matchups. Brock and myself, whether it’s in professional wrestling or whether it’s in a fight, I think it needs to be done.”

How he’ll do against the Beast:

“Until the fight happens, no one knows. I think I would do well. I think our styles are very similar and I think it’s gonna be tit-for-tat in a lot of ways.”

You can check out the full interview of Bobby Lashley in the video below:

Tag Team Announces Departure From Impact Wrestling, Chris Jericho Thanks Fans

The tag team of Adam Thornstowe and Luster the Legend collectively known as Reno Scum announced on twitter yesterday that they have parted ways with Impact Wrestling:

https://twitter.com/Thornstowe_Scum/status/923930012222234624

The duo made their Impact debut back in March this year. In April the company announced that Thornstowe has suffered a torn bicep and they have been inactive ever since.

– Chris Jericho posted a message for the fans of Fozzy on his official Instagram account earlier today, thanking them for the recent success of his band:

Eric Bischoff Reveals Why TNA Hired Him

Eric Bischoff recently appeared on Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast where he talked about his time in TNA and more. Below are some of the highlights from his interview:

Reason why TNA hired him:

“The only reason TNA hired me was because they had no choice. Dixie Carter wanted Hulk Hogan, that was obvious; but Hulk Hogan didn’t trust anybody in TNA,” Bischoff said. “When I say trust, I don’t mean to be devious or malicious or anything like that, but he didn’t trust their judgement or their ability, nor did he trust Vince Russo in any way, shape or form. Terry [Hogan] made it clear that if he was going to go to TNA I had to be there to kind of oversee whatever creative was involved with Hulk Hogan. That was my only job; I didn’t go to company meetings; I wasn’t part of any financial discussions, but role was really to oversee creative as it related to the Hulk Hogan character.”

How his role in the company changed over time:

“Over time, that changed; my role kind of evolved and some of that was natural, some of it was because some things were happening internally, and I had a little more influence on the creative side of things, but neither Hulk nor I had any amount of control over strategy, tactics, anything to do with financial, anything to do with that company, We weren’t invited, nor asked for, that company was ran by Janice, Bob and Dixie Carter so we had nothing to do with it. When I ran WCW, I obviously had a lot of control over the business, but when I was in TNA, I had no control over anything other than creative.”

Which superstar he would have pushed if he had successfully bought WCW:

“I think Bill Goldberg was really the guy that we would have built the company around, Certainly, we would have maintained some of the big-time talent like Hulk Hogan, and others but I think everybody recognized that Bill Goldberg was going to be, at that point, the guy in WCW.”

Jeff Jarrett: “I’m Not Getting Out Of The Wrestling Business”

Impact Wrestling announced on Monday that they’ve cut all business ties with company founder Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Wrestling. The news came after a series of incidents over the weekend involving Jarrett, who showed up to an independent show in Canada in ‘no condition to perform’ and missing a date for the same promotion the following night.

In a statement issued to Tennessean.com, the 50 year old former World champion made it clear that he has no plans to ride off into the sunset.

“I’ve spent 31 years in the wrestling business,” Jarrett said. “I’m not getting out of the wrestling business.”

The article noted that Jarrett declined to comment on his latest split with Impact Wrestling.

Jeff Jarrett: “Anthem Is Out Of Money,” Anthem Responds

Earlier today, Impact Wrestling announced that they’ve officially ended their business relationship with Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Wrestling.

When asked for a statement regarding this news, Jarrett told WrestleZone, “Anthem is out of money.” Impact Wrestling has denied that claim with a statement of their own:

“That statement is inaccurate. Anthem and IMPACT Wrestling are looking forward to a successful 6-day tour in Ottawa, Nov. 5-10, and much more.”

No word yet on what’s next for Jeff Jarrett. The Impact Wrestling founder was scheduled to appear at two shows for Real Canadian Wrestling over the weekend. He made Friday night’s show from Calgary, but missed Saturday’s event from Edmonton.

Impact Wrestling Officially Done With Jeff Jarrett & Global Force

Impact Wrestling issued a statement on Monday announcing the company has severed all ties to Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Wrestling.

Impact Wrestling announced last month that Jarrett was taking an “indefinite leave of absence” from the company. Jarrett had served as Chief Creative Officer prior to the hiatus.

Anthem Sports and Entertainment announced the acquisition of Global Force Wrestling back in June, with the company officially rebranding as GFW shortly thereafter. That chapter of the company’s history was short-lived, with all mentions of GFW scrubbed from the promotion within a matter of months.

Petey Williams On His Decision To Return To Impact Wrestling, Retiring From Pro Wrestling In 2014, More

Petey Williams recently appeared on Interactive Wrestling Radio to talk about various topics. Here are the highlights:

The reason he decided to return to Impact Wrestling:

“Scott D’Amore just asked me to do that. Kind of! That’s the short story of it. The long story is Scott D’Amore called me because he said my name had been coming up a lot in creative meetings. I said, “I’m just not interested in wrestling again. I’m totally content with my life. I love my family, my wife, my kids, all that kind of stuff.” Scott D’Amore and i are very close. He’s the guy that trained me to be a wrestler and got me into TNA, Impact Wrestling now, and all that kind of stuff. As we were talking, he was like, “How are your kids doing? I thought maybe your kids might want to see what Daddy used to do.” Kind of tugging at my heart strings. (laughs) I actually brought up the question to my wife. I said, “Hey, listen to this ridiculous conversation I just had with Scott D’Amore.” I told her about it rolling my eyes as I go along. She just looked at me dead in the eyes and said, “Do it!” She was a big supporter of me coming back. If she hadn’t had supported it, I would have probably just been content with not wrestling again. But, here we are!”

The status of Impact Wrestling:

“I think it is on the up-swing. Here’s why it is on the up-swing. If you look at right before we got on Spike TV, in 2004, we were FOX Sports Net. Then, in 2005, our contract expired with Fox Sports Net and we were finding a new network, shopping the show, seeing where we were going to go. During that time, our show (Impact) was kind of like, on the Internet until we got our Spike TV deal. The guy writing the show, at that time, was Scott D’Amore and I felt like it was some of the best wrestling writing we ever had on the show. Once we got onto Spike TV, new writers came in and then you had the Vince Russos, whoevers and whatnots. It kind of got saturated and everyone’s different ideas… Whatever! Now it’s back and one of the head writers, one of the guys on the creative team, is Scott D’Amore! He writes what the fans want to see. He doesn’t try to make it super-intricate in detail and hard to follow. Very basic. But, it is the very basic emotions all the wrestling fans feed off of. Scott D’Amore gives that to them. I think that’s good wrestling television. That’s why I think it is on the up-swing. That was part of me coming back too! He told me all the guys on the creative team and these were guys I thought wrote good TV in 2004 and 2005 when we were on our first up-swing.”

Why he retired suddenly in 2014:

“I did everything I wanted to do in wrestling. I kind of escaped the wrestling business without any long term super life threatening injuries. I said, “I’m still young, I can still do whatever I want to do.” I only had one kid at the time. I retired pretty much 1 month before my 2nd daughter was born. I said, “I’m good. I made my mark on wrestling.”
