Excellent VICE Article On The Young Bucks, Ireland’s OTT Promotion Joins FloSlam

– Ireland’s Over The Top Wrestling promotional has officially joined the FloSlam streaming network. OTT has two big events coming up later this month, both of which will stream live and will be then be available on demand.

OTT: The Dream Before Christmas takes place 12/28 and will be headlined by Ricochet vs. Will Ospreay. The following night (12/29), OTT: Belafast Invasion will feature Marty Scurll vs. Ricochet in the main event.

VICE Sports has published an excellent article looking at “How The Young Bucks Revolutionized Professional Wrestling.” The feature looks at The Young Bucks being wrestling fans since childhood, breaking into the business and what makes them so successful.

The act is designed to operate on multiple levels. If you want nostalgia—the crotch chops, the “suck it,” the gratuitous imitations of wrestlers living and dead—well, the Young Bucks can do that. Or you can watch them as a circus act: bright costumes, brilliant acrobatics, plenty of playing off the crowd. But the reason why the Young Bucks transfix the hardcore fans as much as the casual ones lies in stunts like the one with Meltzer [their “Meltzer Driver” move], and what they represent: bringing the wrestling nerd subculture into the mainstream.

We strongly recommend checking out the full article over at VICE Sports.

Eddie Edwards On Total Nonstop Deletion, TNA’s Next Chapter, Anthem, NXT & More

TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eddie Edwards recently spoke with James Walsh of Interactive Wrestling Radio to promote this week’s Total Nonstop Deletion episode. Edwards will defend his title against Lashley in the first-ever Dome Of Deletion match. Here are some highlights they sent in:

The Total Nonstop Deletion concept:

“I agree with you that it is going to open the eyes of the professional wrestling world. People are going to be watching this all over the world. You don’t want to be the guy who misses it. It is going to be very special and I was lucky enough to be a part of it. There are some really… unique (laughs) things that go down. Everytime the Hardy’s have done one of these, they take it a step further. This is going to be so entertaining, you will be speechless!”

Being the only ROH and TNA Triple Crown Champion:

“It is pretty awesome to be able to look at it and see what I’ve been able to accomplish. We all set goals for ourselves when you get into the pro wrestling business. We all want to be World Champion. In my career, I’ve always tried to pick goals, achieve it, and move on. First of all, get into Ring of Honor, win the Tag Titles, win the TV Title, win the World Title. I was able to accomplish that. I’ve done the same thing in TNA.. Me and Davey, same thing. Win the Tag Titles, win the X Division title, steal the show, and finally I was able to win the Heavyweight Title… Considering all the guys that have been in both companies. It is pretty amazing to put myself, to see my name in those record books. You can’t erase that.”

The TNA climate with all the changes backstage:

“You said tough times backstage… That’s not the case for us. The office stuff is the office stuff. There is nothing that I myself or any of the other boys or girls in the locker room can do about it. We have always had the same mentallity. We’ve always had the same goal. The talent in this locker room is out of this world, top notch. The product that is going on in the ring right now is top notch, top of the world. We’ve tried to put on the best show, the best product that we can and that has never wavered. As for what is going on behind the scenes, rumors are rumors. Sometimes even half-truths aren’t even half-truths, you know what I mean? We just have to go about our business and handle our stuff. The new year is coming up. It is a freshs tart for everyone but especially for TNA with the new ownership coming in. It is going to be starting fresh again and we’re just here to take it to the next level. We just want to prove that we are the best wrestling company in the world right now.”

The Broken Matt Hardy character:

“Amazing. Just amazing. The Hardy’s in general… Matt has reinvented himself time and time again. Not only to stay relevant but to stay on top of the professional wrestling world. Anywhere he goes, people are saying “Delete, Delete, Delete.” I’ve seen people who aren’t even wrestling fans and I’ve seen it pop up on random websites… I’m astonished and amazed by it. The Broken Brilliance. He really IS that! But, it is not just for himself. He wants professional wrestling to succeed. He wants TNA to succeed. I couldn’t find a more giving guy as far as wrestling him and just ideas. You can go and pick his brain, he’s always willing to give his thoughts and ideas on anything. That is such a hard thing to find with guys who, you know, he’s made it! He’s one of the best ever, him and Jeff! For them to be willing to go out there and give back and work as hard as they do is awesome to see. It gives hope to all.”

Why his and Davey Richards’ WWE NXT stint was so short:

“Just the timing. We went down and did a couple week thing down there. They decided to go in a different direction. We were comfortable going in a different direction. We were in talks with TNA at the time so we wanted to go to TNA because we thought that was the best opportunity and WWE was going in a different direction anyway. So, we were happy with the decision that we made.”

If his work ethic and work rate helped get him the World Title opportunity:

“I think so. I think it certainly has played a part in it. When I and Davey got to TNA, we wanted to prove we could wrestle anybody, anywhere, and have a good match. I take pride in being able to work any style, any match, any type of senario… A strong mix of matches. I don’t want every match to be the same. I’ll work as hard as I would in front of 20 people as I would for 20,000. I don’t know what lead to the decision (leading to winning the title) but I’m sure it played a part in it. To say I take pride in it, I know Davey does as well. We want to be known as the work horse, bust our ass, and leave it all in the ring.”

Facing Lashley at Total Nonstop Deletion:

“We talked about different styles. This is not like an X Divison match… This is me going up against a force of nature (laughs) like Lashley. A beast! I’m expecting more of the same. I’m going to get thrown around. I’m going to get beat up a bit. But, I thrive in being the underdog. I know I’m the champion but looking at me and looking at him, it is pretty believable that he could beat me. I’m fine with that. I welcome the challenge. I want that target on my back, being world champion! Going into this match, I’m just looking for a fight. He’s a bit peeved going in. One thing nobody knows about is our Dome of Deletion we’ve got going on. I don’t know how to prepare for that! Lashley doesn’t know how to prepare. There is a ring involved but then there’s also shenanigans! People will be very excited with this show! This is a full 2 hour journey into the mind of the Broken Brilliance! (laughs)”

If Anthem will take TNA “back” to the promised land:

“That is the goal no matter what but especially at this time, with Anthem coming in, it is a new year. It is a fresh start. Everyone has the same goal from the office to the boys and girls, we all want to go out there and kick ass and put on the best product. I think this is a perfect time to ride the momentum of Total Nonstop Deletion and ride that into the new year and just keep going and going. People who have turned there back on TNA and even have rooted against us which I have never been able to understand. This is a new time! This is a new day. There is lots of new talent… Just tune in! Watch Total Nonstop Deletion!”

Matt Hardy Invites Multiple WWE Tag Teams To Apocalypto

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dT8kbbdllA

Broken Matt Hardy took to Twitter on Monday night to send “invites” out to The New Day, The Wyatt Family, The Rock ‘n Sock Connection, The Rock ‘n Roll Express, DX, Evolution and Edge & Christian, for the teams to compete in the Apocalpyto match on Total Nonstop Deletion this Thursday night.

The RNR Express are set to appear and there’s a strong chance we’ll see a cameo from the Bucks of Youth, but there’s no chance of the other WWE teams appearing. That said, Hardy has been doing a solid job in promoting this week’s special episode, taped from his compound in Cameron, North Carolina.

Matt Hardy Challenges The Wyatt Family – Bray Responds

Broken Matt Hardy invited “The Family of Wyatts” to participate in the Tag Team Apocalypto fight this Thursday at the Total Nonstop Deletion. Whether Matt expected it or not, he got a response from Bray Wyatt.

https://twitter.com/WWEBrayWyatt/status/808547751424303104

Thursday’s Impact will be a two hour extravaganza that will all be taking place at the Hardy compound. There most certainly will be people shooting fireworks at each other and hopefully a dilapidated boat.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSjnOCtjJLc

It wasn’t too long ago that Final Deletion was the most popular thing in wrestling. The WWE tried to capitalize on the buzz of Final Deletion by producing a similar match. It wasn’t nearly as popular and a lot of fans accused the WWE of trying to copy TNA.

Five months later, Matt Hardy is still bringing up the Wyatt Family on social media. Broken Matt Hardy recently joined The Ross Report and revealed that his contract with TNA is expiring at the end of February. Hardy went on to state that he wanted to play a more prominent role in TNA once negotiations begin in a couple of months. Both Matt and Jeff Hardy have seen their careers revitalized in TNA. It would make sense for them to resign there and continue to try to build up the TNA brand.

If that turns out to not be the case and the Hardy Boyz wind up back in the WWE, this would be an amazing feud. Obviously, there is no chance in hell that Randy Orton, Luke Harper and Bray Wyatt would ever show up on an episode of Impact. The much more likely scenario is that Matt and Jeff Hardy return to the WWE to finish their careers. I’ve always rooted for TNA to be a success and for them to provide a viable alternative to the WWE. Unfortunately, they have never really been able to gain traction and have essentially been running in place while surrounded by constant financial problems. TNA will certainly try their best to resign Matt and Jeff Hardy in February but it remains to be seen if they will accomplish that goal.

Matt Hardy Says Real Change Is Coming At Total Nonstop Deletion

Ahead of Thursday’s big Total Nonstop Deletion special, Broken Matt Hardy promises “real change” is coming to Impact Wrestling – and a major battle in the “Great War” has already been won. Hardy also took a few digs at WWE over the weekend, referencing 3-hour shows being a chore to watch and the company not allowing teams like The New Day compete in the big tag team Apocalypto match.

It looks like we may in fact see ROH &  IWGP Junior Heavyweight tag team champions The Young Bucks appear at Total Nonstop Deltion.

Challenge TV Announces TNA Schedule For Remainder of Contract

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dT8kbbdllA

TNA is about to be without a television home in the United Kingdom, with tonight’s show being the last regularly scheduled edition of Impact Wrestling on Challenge TV. With Total Non-Stop Deletion airing this week, that sounds like a cause for concern for U.K. fans, but it’s not quite as bad as it sounds. Total Non-Stop Deletion will be airing, but on a few week delay, according to a post on Challenge’s website. Here’s how the end of TNA on Challenge has been laid out:

  • December 11th at 9:00 p.m. GMT (already in progress as of this writing) is the show that aired on December 8th in the U.S.
  • December 11th at 11:00 p.m. GMT is the latest One Night Only special.
  • December 18th at 9:00 p.m. GMT is TNA’s Best of 2016 special.
  • December 31st at 9:00 a.m. GMT will be two episodes of Xplosion back to back.
  • January 1st at 9:00 p.m. GMT will be the debut of what Challenge calls “TNA Hardy Brothers special” but is presumably the U.K. premier of Total Non-Stop Deletion, which airs this Thursday (December 15th) in the United States.

Since the announcement of Challenge cancelling TNA, there has been zero buzz about a new deal. Along with the promotion’s TV deals in Canada, India, and South Africa, Challenge was one of just a few networks paying TNA significant rights fees.

Josh Matthews: “Total Nonstop Deletion Is Better Than Any WrestleMania I’ve Witnessed”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dT8kbbdllA

TNA’s highly-anticipated Total Nonstop Deletion show featuring “tag teams from all over space and time” airs on Thursday, and Josh Matthews took to Twitter this week to make a very bold statement about the show.

The former WWE and current TNA announcer says that after seeing only 30 seconds of the Total Nonstop Deletion show, he already ranks it above WWE’s biggest annual pay-per-view.

“I’ve seen :30 of #TotalNonstopDELETION and… OH. MY. GOD,” Matthews wrote. “For perspective… It’s better than any wrestlemania I’ve been to or witnessed.”

The episode, airing on December 15th on Pop TV, will feature a “Tag Team Apocalypse” match that Jeremy Borash claims teams under contract to other companies will show up for. The episode is being promoted by Pop TV as the “biggest Impact event of all time,” and will also feature the “in-ring debut” of Matt Hardy’s infant son Maxel.

Total Nonstop Deletion Trailer, Jim Ross Says It’s “Legit Special”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dT8kbbdllA

We’re less than one week away from the special Total Nonstop Deletion episode of TNA Impact on POP TV, which was filmed from Broken Matt Hardy’s home in North Carolina several weeks back. The official trailer can be viewed above.

The main event of the show will feature Broken Matt and Brother Nero defending the TNA Tag Team Championships in the Apocalypto match against several tag teams to be named. Matt is promising that this match will be everyone’s new favorite once it’s over. TND will also see the in-ring debut of Matt Hardy’s 1 year old son Maxel. Dixie Carter tweeted the following on his debut:

Other names confirmed to appear so far include The Helms Dynasty, The Decay and The DCC. Both Dixie and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross praised the match on Twitter with JR saying he’s seen some of the footage and it truly is special. They wrote:

Matt wrote the following on the match being everyone’s new favorite and Dixie agreed:

Borash: Wrestlers To Break Contracts For ‘Tag Team Apocalypto’ Match, Will Be A “Game Changer”

TNA is advertising a “Tag Team Apocalypto” match that will happen at Matt Hardy’s compound, and tag teams from “all over space and time” have been invited to compete. In a Taz Show interview, Jeremy Borash teased that some wrestlers would be openly breaking their contracts to take part in the match from Hardy’s house. Borash also recently spoke to Sports Illustrated to promote the match, saying that it would be different from anything we’ve ever seen.

“Tag Team Apocalypto will be the most amazing match ever presented on television,” Borash told SI.com. “Bold statement. Different than anything you’ve ever seen.”

Borash continued, saying that wrestling needs to “evolve with the rest of entertainment,” and predicts that the Tag Team Apocalypto match will have a lasting impact on the industry.

“This will be looked back at someday as a game changer,” he said. “Early screeners have left people stunned. Books may be written on this match. With the secluded nature of our shooting, there will be a number of talents showing up you would never expect.”

Borash stopped short of mentioning the names of who would be showing up. The match will air on a special episode of Impact Wrestling later this month that will be entirely filmed from Matt and Jeff Hardy’s compound in North Carolina.

Update On TNA Potentially Holding Shows During WrestleMania Weekend

TNA is denying an earlier report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com that they plan to hold Impact Wrestling tapings in Orlando, FL during WrestleMania 33 weekend. The original report stated that sources at Universal Studios claimed TNA would be holding shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There was also talk of TNA holding additional tapings the following weekend, which would have shows recorded through the summer.

The latest from TNA is that there are talks of running “a show” in Orlando during WrestleMania weekend, but there are no television tapings locked down just yet.

In recent years WrestleMania weekend has developed into ground zero for not just WWE but the entire industry. Fans in town for WrestleMania have countless options available, including live events from top independent promotions, fan conventions, stage shows, podcast meet ups and more.

We’ll post an update when more information becomes available.

Details On A Hardy Boyz vs. Young Bucks Match

Matt Hardy made a surprise appearance at Friday night’s ROH Final Battle PPV and issued a challenge to The Young Bucks. With help from his aerial assault robot Vanguard 1, Hardy delivered a message to the ROH tag team champions and invited them to participate in the upcoming tag team Apocalypto match at TNA’s upcoming Total Nonstop Deletion special.

The description of Matt’s Youtube states that WWE RAW tag team champions The New Day are also invited.

Myself and Brother Nero have been mandated by the 7 Deities to prove we are The Greatest Team in all of Space and Time. That means we eventually must face The Bucks of Youth and The Day of New, the other tag team champions. Both these teams, as well as all notable teams, are invited to Total Nonstop DELETION on 12/15/16 to compete in Apocalypto.. A match that will determine the greatest tag team of all time.

While a match against the New Day won’t be happening any time soon, there are plans for a Young Bucks vs. Hardy Boyz match. The nature of ROH and TNA’s working relationship is unclear at this point, but we’ve heard the Bucks and Hardy’s showdown is expected to take place during WrestleMania weekend in Orlando at ROH’s Supercard Of Honor show.

Update: Broken Matt says he plans to call out the Young Bucks this Thursday on Impact.

Aroluxe, Ron Harris Move to Dismiss Audience of One Productions Lawsuit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnbfDRRktUg

We’ve got an update on the lawsuit filed by Audience of One Productions against TNA parent company Impact Ventures, TNA CFO Dean Broadhead, production coordinator/former wrestler Ron Harris, and Aroluxe, the production company that owns a minority stake in TNA. As you can tell from the headline, Aroluxe and Harris are moving to dismiss the case. Audience of One filed the lawsuit in late September, during the week where it appeared that TNA would be dead if nobody put in new money by the end of the week. It alleges that TNA has not only been delinquent on payments for Bound For Glory 2015 production work, but was arranging a deal with Aroluxe to replace Audience of One at the same time.

TNA had filed an answer to the complaint a few weeks back.

Aroluxe’s basic reasoning for having the case against the company as well as Harris revolves around Audience of One filing the lawsuit in Virginia, where they’re headquartered, on top of, obviously, denying the allegations against them. That’s strictly legalese that we won’t concern ourselves with today. But in terms of newsworthiness, that’s not what jumps out in what they filed with their motion to dismiss. Supporting the motion were two affidavits: One from Harris, and one from Aroluxe founder Jason Brown.

Curiously, Harris says that At all times relevant to the Complaint,I was not employed by Defendant Aroluxe” and “At all times relevant to the Complaint, I was not employed by Defendant Impact Ventures, LLC f/k/a TNA Entertainment, LLC (“TNA”). My last employment with TNA was almost ten years ago.” Brown added that “Aroluxe does not employ Defendant Ronald Dean Harris” and “Aroluxe has never authorized Defendant Ronald Dean Harris to acton its behalf.”

The affidavits don’t entirely ring true, with Harris not working for TNA for “almost ten years” being the most suspicious part. Audience of One’s complaint specifically alleged that Harris emailed them requesting an itemized invoice for Bound For Glory on December 11, 2015. In addition, the complaint states that both Harris brothers were using “@tnawrestling.com” email addresses and “generally held themselves out as employees of TNA.” It strains credulity to suggest that Audience of One would make allegations about specific emails, quoting them in the process, if they weren’t able to produce them in court.

As for Harris and Aroluxe, we need to look at older versions of the Aroluxe website on the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine. The “team” listing that was on the site most of 2016 with Harris as a member wasn’t there on the last copy available from before Bound For Glory 2015, but it was added by January 25,2016 at the latest. Audience of One alleges that there was a scheme that went on for months after that. In October, Aroluxe’s “team” listing changed drastically, removing not just Harris, but also his brother Don and even Jason Brown. As of this writing, the site no longer lists any members of the Aroluxe “team.” The Harrises could very well be gone from Aroluxe now, but the company’s own website said that they were still important parts of the company for much of the time that it’s alleged they interfered with Audience of One being paid.

For whatever it’s worth, Ron Harris’s LinkedIn page does not mention Aroluxe at all. However, it does not appear to have been updated in quite some time, as the profile photo is very low resolution. His job is listed as “Operations Manager” for Lime Monkey Entertainment from March 2013 to “Present.” What Lime Monkey actually is or does is unclear, as its website is literally just its name in white on a black background with no content. Googling the name finds nothing of substance other than Don Harris’s LinkedIn, which has a similar photo to his brother’s page and lists him as “Co-Owner/Manager.” Tennessee state records list the company’s status as “Inactive – Dissolved (Administrative).”

Abyss Speaks On Turning Down A 2006 WWE Offer To Work Against The Undertaker

According to a recent interview with TNA star Abyss, he was once being considered by WWE as a potential opponent for The Undertaker. On the Pancakes and Powerslams Show podcast, Abyss discussed turning down an offer from WWE in 2006 and said that he has no regrets.

“There was interest from [WWE],” Abyss confirmed. “I was at a time in my career where my contract was coming up, but I decided to stay with TNA… It was definitely an offer there in 2006 to work with Undertaker, but again, I was such a big part of the beginning of TNA, I was such a home-grown talent, a base talent who they were building around, I decided to stay.”

Abyss said that he doesn’t second-guess his decision to stay in TNA, and that it was a “pretty easy” decision to stay in TNA.

“I have no regrets, to be honest with you,” he told the Pancakes and Powerslams Show. “Like I said, TNA has been my home and treated me so good, so in the end it was a pretty easy decision for me to make, and I’ve never looked back.”

You can listen to the entire podcast with Abyss here.

This Week’s Impact Wrestling Viewership Increases

This week’s episode of TNA Impact Wrestling averaged 338,000 viewers on Pop TV. The episode featured Rosemary vs. Jade in a steel cage match for the TNA Knockouts Title.

Thursday’s viewership was up 104% from last week’s Thanksgiving episode, which averaged 165,000. Last week’s Thanksgiving show was Impact’s lowest viewership since before they went to Spike TV in 2005. The episode before the Thanksgiving episode drew 336,000 viewers.

This week’s episode placed at #128 on Showbuzz Daily’s top 150 cable shows for the night.

New TNA Knockouts Champion Crowned In Impact Main Event

Rosemary defeated Jade to win the vacant TNA Knockouts Championship in the Six Sides of Steel main event of this week’s Impact Wrestling.

Gail Kim previously vacated the championship after suffering an injury. She won the title from Maria at Bound For Glory in October but was forced to vacate just a week later.

This marks Rosemary’s first championship gold in TNA Wrestling.

Knockouts Steel Cage Match Main Eventing TNA Impact Tonight, January Tapings Update

– TNA confirmed to the roster this week that they will be taping Impact Wrestling from Universal Studios during the week of January 4-10. It appears they will do double tapings on at least two of the days that week. Those shows will air through the end of March. TNA will also tape Xplosion and One Night Only events.

– Jade vs. Rosemary in a Steel Cage Match for the TNA Knockouts Championship will headline tonight’s Impact on POP episode. Tonight’s show will also feature DJZ vs. Braxton Sutter vs. Mandrews for the X Division Championship, Broken Matt Hardy’s return to The Impact Zone, an Open Challenge from Aron Rex and more.

Hearing in American Express Lawsuit Against TNA Delayed…For Now

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjKEl-c8tXM

TNA has gotten a reprieve in one of its lawsuits…for now.

You may recall that last week, we reported that American Express had moved for a default judgement in their non-payment lawsuit against TNA, who had never filed an answer to the complaint or otherwise acknowledged the lawsuit’s existence. A hearing was set for Wednesday (November 30th), and with TNA still not saying a word, it didn’t sound great for them. With Wednesday having come and gone, I checked the court website…and saw that on Tuesday (November 29th), American Express asked for the matter to be delayed three weeks, to December 21st.

All of our requests for comment sent to TNA last week were ignored. Similarly, TNA has still yet to file anything in the American Express lawsuit. As for whether or not it’s a coincidence that American Express asked for the delay on the same day that Billy Corgan’s lawsuit against TNA was officially dismissed as a result of their settlement, that remains to be seen.

TNA Impact Viewership For The Thanksgiving Episode

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlMp3zazwd8

Last Thursday’s TNA Impact on POP drew 165,000 viewers and ranked #88 for the night on the Cable Top 150 list, according to Showbuzz Daily. This is down from last week’s show, which drew 336,000 viewers and ranked #114.

The drop in viewership can be attributed to the Thanksgiving holiday, which is also why the numbers are just now being released.

The Impact episode that aired the night before Thanksgiving in 2015 drew 312,000 viewers – 234,000 for the first-run episode and 78,000 for the replay.

Billy Corgan Settles Litigation Against Impact Ventures

Anthem Sports & Entertainment and Billy Morgan have announced a settlement has been reached regarding Corgan’s litigation against Impact Ventures, parent company of TNA Impact Wrestling. As per the press release:

“Anthem has acquired Mr. Corgan’s loan to Impact Ventures on undisclosed terms, and Mr. Corgan has dismissed his proceedings against Impact Ventures and TNA Impact Wrestling.”

“I’m pleased that an agreement is now in place that allows wrestling operations to continue,” said Corgan, Impact’s former president, “for my interest from the start was to provide support, be it material or creative, to such a great roster and crew. And as I plan on continuing in the business side of pro wrestling, I look forward to seeing where Anthem’s leadership takes the company in 2017, and wish them the best.”

Anthem Executive Vice President Ed Nordholm stated, “We are pleased to conclude these arrangements with Mr. Corgan. The events leading to litigation were unfortunate but also reflected all parties’ desire in good faith to support the company. The arrangements we have made with Mr. Corgan respect all parties’ gratitude for his contributions to Impact Wrestling, both creatively and financially. We can now close this chapter and look forward to making Impact Wrestling a leader in the professional wrestling world.”

American Express Moves for Judge to Rule Against TNA by Default in Debt Case

Remember how when American Express sued TNA for not paying their bill to the tune of $269,049.50, the summons was served to a receptionist at TNA’s old office that they were evicted from months earlier? Well, that’s about to become an issue for TNA: This coming Wednesday, American Express will be in court arguing that they are entitled to a default judgment because TNA has not acknowledged the complaint. A default judgment is exactly what it sounds like, TNA losing by default. TNA has not filed anything in the case since it was fire filed back in July, and thus are currently listed on the court docket as having no legal representation recorded by the court.

As we have previously reported, it does not appear that TNA ever filed a change of address with the United States Postal Service after being evicted from their longtime offices at Cummins Station in Nashville, Tennessee (which is still listed as the company’s mail order address on ShopTNA.com).  They do have an “authorized agent” (a third party proxy) in Chattanooga that can be served instead, but that option is not mentioned in American Express’s latest court filings, and neither is the TNA merchandise warehouse, where it’s been reported the company is now headquartered. In fairness, American Express has now repeatedly served the lawsuit and related documents to the address on file, which TNA never changed while becoming delinquent on their account.

For what it’s worth, as of a change on October 27th, the Tennessee Secretary of State’s website now lists Impact Ventures, LLC, TNA’s parent company, as being headquartered at 1404 51st Ave North in Nashville. According to Google Maps, that’s this red and white building building in what looks like an office park (zoom in up the driveway to get a better look):

The gist of American Express’s request for a default judgment is that the deadline to respond has expired, that TNA did not move for an extension, and that TNA had not yet responded by November 2nd, when the motion was written. So as a result, they think they should get their $269,049.50 and whatever else “the Court deems just and proper.”

In addition, one of the exhibits filed by American Express is TNA’s billing statement from May, the month that the account was cancelled. The new charges consisted entirely of late fees:

  • $577.88 for being late in paying off a $19,327.08 balance on one of TNA CFO Dean Broadhead’s two corporate cards.
  • $7,233.15 for being late in paying off a $241,911.39 balance on the corporate card of Shane Emerson, who serves as TNA’s Director of International Content Distribution and Live Events.

On top of that:

  • Because of the cancellation, a pro-rated portion of the annual membership fee was credited back on every card.
  • TNA had 11 cards distributed to nine employees, with Broadhead, Emerson, and Dixie Carter each having two. Of the nine who had cards, two are now gone from the company: Eric Barnes, who handled media relations, and Tyson Ciesiensky, TNA’s Director of Information Technology. Ciesiensky is now Chief Information Officer of Skyway Studios, where TNA does post-production. The others with corporate cards were Serg Salinas (Dixie’s husband), John Gaburick (creative/talent relations), and Bob Ryder (travel).

I have reached out to TNA for comment on if they will have legal representation present at the hearing. In the event that they respond, we will update this space and let you know what they say.

Rick Steiner On His Brother Scott Being Right About TNA & His Beef With Hulk Hogan (Video)

Former Tag Team Champion Rick Steiner recently sat down for a comprehensive interview with Hannibal TV where he talked about the controversy between his brother Scott and WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan. Steiner and Hogan had a highly-publicized beef, including Twitter rants and an alleged incident between Steiner and Hogan’s wife at an airport. Rick says the beef between Scott and Hulk got carried away on Twitter, but that Scott didn’t like Hogan to begin with.

“There were some things being said and my brother brought up some stuff that was pretty personal, that was true that they didn’t want to come out,” Rick said of Scott’s Twitter rants. “I wasn’t there but they said he said something to Hogan’s new wife or new girlfriend or something, I wasn’t there I didn’t see any of it. I know the legality issues of it, there were a couple of lawyers hired, there was some stuff taken out, but my brother ain’t backing down from nobody.”

Scott’s Twitter rants also took aim at his previous employer — TNA. Rick says the things his brother said about the troubled wrestling promotion all ended up being true. Rick feels that people may not like his brother’s approach to airing issues out, but the things he said all ended up coming to light as being true.

As far as Scott’s way with words costing him a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame, Rick says that doesn’t matter to the Big Bad Booty Daddy.

“Everybody is worried about ‘Oh, don’t say that, you won’t be in the Hall Of Fame.’ My brother don’t care. He’ll say what he wants to say,” Rick said.

Rick noted that since stepping away from full-time wrestling, his brother has been opening restaurants in Georgia and Florida.
