Update On TNA Falling Behind On Paying Their Production Staff

As previously noted, TNA is reportedly behind on paying their production workers again. Dave Meltzer reported on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that isn’t as far behind as they have been in the past, but that the company is still having financial issues.

At the last set of Impact Wrestling tapings in April, some workers were paid in full while others weren’t paid at all. Members of TNA management reportedly told the talent not paid that their checks would be sent out the next day on April 25th, but Meltzer says those employees not paid at the tapings still haven’t received those checks.

TNA returns to filming in June with their Slammiversary pay-per-view and a set of Impact tapings.

Report: TNA Months Behind On Paying Production Crew

On Saturday it was announced that TNA will be holding more TV tapings in June, and that their Saturday morning replay has been cancelled by Pop TV. The news comes amid reports that TNA is having trouble paying their staff. PWTorch.com reports that TNA is currently behind on pay with their production crew, with some workers being owed money from as far back as March and January.

There were several reports of late pay in the last year, including the company reportedly owing Bobby Roode and Eric Young over six-figures. There’s belief within the company that Aroluxe Marketing has been loaning TNA money so they could continue taping Impact Wrestling. PWTorch.com claims some TNA production staff have been told they will be replaced at next month’s taping.

Dixie Carter is still currently looking for an investor so she can remain in control of the company. As reported earlier this month there are three possible investors who would all want to take control of the company from Dixie. TNA moving their offices into the ShopTNA warehouse in a cost-cutting move may look good in an investor presentation, but workers leaving without being paid would not.

TNA’s recent contract re-signings are believed to have been done to impress potential investors. As noted earlier this month Dave Meltzer reported that TNA had asked their talent to tweet about how backstage morale is fine, in order to combat stories online. Meltzer says one TNA talent told him morale is “the worst ever” for people who’ve been with the company a long time.

More On Pop TV Dropping TNA Impact’s Saturday Morning Replay

PWInsider has confirmed that POP TV dropped the TNA Impact replay from Saturday mornings. The decision was made a few weeks back, shortly after the replay was moved from Tuesday nights to the weekend.

Officials moved the replay to see if TNA could build up an audience on Saturday mornings that would justify airing a second TNA series in the timeslot. The decision was made to nix the replay and make the original Tuesday night airing as the main destination for the show.

Impact Saturday Replay In Jeopardy, Galloway vs. Lashley Next Week & More

– It appears that Pop TV has already pulled the plug on TNA Impact’s Saturday morning replay. While we don’t know definitively if the Saturday morning replay is cancelled, Pop TV now lists infomercials and a replay of CBS 60 Minutes on Saturday mornings. It was just last month that Pop TV cancelled the Wednesday night Impact Wrestling replay (the ‘west coast feed’) and moved it to Saturday mornings.

TNA Impact Viewership for This Week

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWyjG1Vn8GY

This week’s episode of TNA Impact on Pop TV drew 280,000 viewers, down from last week’s Sacrifice-themed show, which did 303,000 viewers.

Impact was #135 for the night in the Cable Top 150, also a dip from last week (#124).

Update On TNA Owing Bobby Roode And Eric Young Money

Bobby Roode and Eric Young left TNA Impact Wrestling and jumped ship to WWE NXT. While Young has made his debut on television, Roode has yet to be seen in action by the WWE Universe at Full Sail University.

A possibly mistaken tweet by WWE U.K. on Twitter would say otherwise, as he’s supposedly “confirmed” for the NXT U.K. tour in June.

Regardless of the fact they both left TNA around the same time, a bit of controversy surrounded them last week. David Herro, well-known wrestling agent and all-around nice guy, said that TNA owed them in the six-figure range then they left.

Herro, who’s a well-respected mind in the wrestling industry, is friends with many in TNA. However, an update was just released by PW Insider that refutes his claim. According to the report, Eric Young and Bobby Roode were paid what they were owed before they left TNA.

There were times when Roode and Young were definitely owed money during time in TNA. Like any responsible company, both talents were paid in full before they departed for good.

Given all of TNA’s hardships recently, the fact they can pay big-time talents like Roode and Young is a good sign. Does it mean things are changing for the better? With rumors of Matt Hardy turning down his amount of wrestling in a couple of years, they would lose one big star.

Whatever the case may be, at least TNA was able to pay WWE NXT’s newest stars before they left.

Kurt Angle Returning To The Ring In November

Kurt Angle has been announced for another wrestling match in November. The former WWE World Champion went on record saying he was going to take a year away from the business, but a Scottish promotion has gotten Angle to agree to get back in the ring.

ICW tweeted the announcement on Sunday that Angle will be competing at their “Fear and Loathing IX” event in Glasgow, Scotland. The event takes place at The SSE Hydro on November 20th. His opponent has yet to be announced.

Aside from his recent iPPV match against Rey Mysterio, Angle hasn’t wrestled since the January 31st Impact Wrestling tapings in the UK.

TNA Wrestlers Told To Tweet About Morale?, Next Tuesday’s Impact, Replay Viewership

– The Saturday, April 30 TNA Impact replay drew 48,000 viewers. This is down from 52,000 viewers on April 23.

– For what it’s worth, Dave Meltzer noted on the Wrestling Observer message board that he was told by a TNA wrestler during WrestleMania 32 weekend about how officials had told him to tweet about morale. Meltzer wrote:

“Over WrestleMania weekend a TNA wrestler who I really don’t know bumped into me. he joked about morale, saying that he was actually told to send a Tweet by management about how great the morale is. He didn’t, and said for the people who have been with the company for a long time, it was the worst ever.”

TNA Re-Structuring Contracts, Backstage Talk On Expected Sale Of Company

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EMZsv4EzzU

TNA is reportedly making some big internal changes. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TNA officials are currently trying to re-structure contracts for the majority of their roster. The re-structuring involves the company controlling all of their talents’ outside bookings, which reportedly is a move to give TNA more value in the event of a sale.

Regarding rumors of a sale, officials are keeping quiet and the talent seems to be in the dark on the issue. The Wrestling Observer also claims that at least one person was told that when any sale or investment is completed, Dixie Carter and John Gaburick would still be in control of the company.

For the first time in several months, TNA has also reportedly started offering deals with “significant” money attached to them to free agents in the wrestling world.

It was reported in April that TNA is in talks with three possible investors. One is a TV company that could air Impact Wrestling on it’s own channel and operate the company similar to how Turner operated WCW. Another one is a marketing agency operated by the Harris brothers, and the other is a company called Summit Strategic Investments that specializes in “troubled assets.” TNA’s international partners Sony Six in India and Challenge TV in the UK both turned down offers for 10% ownership of the company in exchange for funding.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfv9yU-aUTY

Viewership for the first run episodes of Impact Wrestling in 2016 so far has ranged from 222,000 to 339,000.

Report: TNA Owed Bobby Roode & Eric Young A Combined Six-Figures

David Herro, founder of Great Lakes Championship Wrestling, says he knows the real reason Bobby Roode and Eric Young left TNA. “Bobby Roode and Eric Young left because they were owed a combined six-figures,” Herro said on the Pro Wrestling Report.

“How do you not pay those two guys?” Herro asked. “You let Bobby Roode go… a guy who could have gone to WWE but he wanted to be loyal to the company. Thank God he left. He’ll be a big star in NXT. He’ll make the main roster in a year from now. Same with Eric Young.”

As far as TNA’s future goes, Herro thinks they need a management change. “I wish Ring Of Honor would buy TNA,” Herro said of TNA’s current financial problems. “They already have the infrastructure in place. They already have the TV deal alone. They’re already in more markets than Pop TV.”

Herro also pointed out that TNA does not currently get paid by Pop TV, and that they bartered for their Impact Wrestling time slot.

Eric Young Debuts In NXT (Video)

Former TNA World Champion Eric Young made his NXT debut at tonight’s tapings from  Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. Young confronted NXT Champion Samoa Joe in the opening segment of the evening. We’ll update this post when new details become available.

Both Young and Bobby Roode left TNA Wrestling departed TNA Wrestling earlier this month after over a decade with the company. Roode made a surprise appearance at NXT Takeover: Dallas and was shown ringside watching the action.

Back on April 9th, the Peterborough Examiner published an interview with Roode, who stated that he was not yet signed with WWE. At the time, and this was over 3 weeks ago, Roode said, “I’m not officially signed yet. The Internet has blown up over it, and I mean I’m close, but I don’t want to spoil anything or ruin anything. I want to wait until it’s official. I don’t want to jinx anything either.”

WWE is reportedly interested in bringing both men in as “player coaches,” which would see them working NXT events as well as training up and coming talent at the WWE Performance Center.

Check back later tonight for full results of the NXT tapings.

This Week’s Impact Wrestling Viewership Increases

Tuesday night’s Impact Wrestling averaged 332,000 viewers on Pop TV. This is up from 312,000 viewers last week. This is Impact Wrestling’s third week without having a replay the same night.

Impact placed at #91 on the Top 150 cable shows for the night. TNA was up against two NBA playoffs games that drew over 4,000,000 viewers.

Two Title Changes On TNA Impact From Departing Talents

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBqjRrnieYw

This week’s Sacrifice edition of TNA Impact Wrestling saw two notable title changes.

The Decay’s Abyss and Crazzy Steve defeated Beer Money to capture the TNA tag team championships. Bram also defeated Eric Young to become the new TNA King of the Mountain Champion.

The title changes were booked as a result of Bobby Roode and Eric Young departing the company back in March.
