TNA Experiences Major Technical Difficulties During Slammiversary PPV

There were major production issues during the TNA Slammiversary pay-per-view on Sunday evening.

After the James Storm vs. Magnus match, the audio on the pay-per-view completely died out. The commentators were cutting in and out for several minutes.

During the next match, which featured Ethan Carter III and Tyrus vs. Mr. Anderson and Bobby Lashley, when Anderson’s microphone came down from the ceiling, it didn’t work either.

Once Lashley made his entrance, the commentary finally came back. There has still been a few glitches in the commentary here and there, as it has dropped out a few times since fully returning, but for the most part, the production issues appear to be in the rear view mirror.

TNA Slammiversary 2015 Results

The TNA Slammiversary 2015 pay-per-view kicks off with Josh Mathews welcoming us to the show as we see shots of various TNA stars arriving in the parking lot earlier in the day.

An awesome video package airs, mostly showing highlights from TNA’s past including Hulk Hogan, Sting and Kurt Angle, slowly merging into focusing on modern TNA, with guys like Rockstar Spud and Eric Young being featured.

From there, we shoot live into the arena where we shoot to the ringside area with Josh Mathews, Mike Tenay and The Pope, our three-man broadcast booth for tonight’s show.

TNA X-Division Title Elimination Match
– DJ Z vs. Manik vs. Tigre Uno (c)

Out comes DJ Z, followed by Manik of The Revolution and the X-Division Champion Tigre Uno, in that order.

The bell sounds and immediately all three guys are zipping and flying all over the place. When the smoke clears and the pace settles down a bit, Uno appears to be in control of the action.

After Manik gets in some offense, Uno flies over the top rope and splashes onto both guys with a corkscrew plancha. The action returns inside the ring.

Following a crazy series of moves and spots, finally, DJ Z is eliminated. A few moments later, Uno manages to score the pin on Manik to secure the victory and remain the TNA X-Division Champion.

Winner and STILL TNA X-Division Champion: Tigre Uno

Jessie Godderz vs. Robbie E.

After a quick backstage interview segment with Jeremy Borash, it’s time for the battle of the former BroMans tag-team members — Jessie Godderz and Robbie E.

Following the video package, Jessie “The Man” Godderz is introduced first. He cuts a quick promo. Out next comes his former tag-team partner and opponent for tonight — Robbie E.

The bell sounds and here we go with our second match of the evening. Early on, Robbie E. dominates the action, taking it to Godderz.

From there, Godderz goes on to dominate the action for nearly the rest of the entire match, nearly finishing off Robbie several times until out of nowhere, Robbie hits an inverted DDT for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Robbie E.

Chris Masters On Signing With GFW, His Relationship With TNA & More

Former WWE Superstar Chris Masters was recently interviewed about his relationship with TNA Wrestling and signing with Global Force Wrestling. Below are some highlights from the interview.

On his time in WWE & post-WWE: “From 2011 on I made it my goal whether push or no push whatever it was. I was on Superstars and I was given a lot of time then and my goal was just to prove the neigh sayers wrong and be a good in-ring worker and not just a body. To try and give WWE basically make them use me. If they weren’t going to use me, I was going to make them use me. I was going out there every night and used it as fuel. I’m going to be that damn good. I worked my a** off and everything started coming together, I really started getting it and anybody that’s seen my work from 2011 pretty much on will tell you and vouch for that fact. Even CM Punk said in the promo where he was quote unquote shooting, that I’m not the same guy that most people remember at least not from back in my earlier run, now I can go and I can go with anybody it doesn’t matter who it is. I’m looking forward to this opportunity with Global Force Wrestling because I think it will be a good platform working a lot internationally, I’ve had some of the best matches of my career over in the UK and Europe and now being with Jarrett I understand it’s Global Force but we’re kicking things off here domestically. It’s good for wrestling fans who want to see me out here to see me doing something and get that exposure and have that platform.”

On his relationship with TNA: “I was under the impression that I was hired by multiple sources within the company and another lesson that I’ve learned in wrestling is don’t count your chickens before they hatch. Until something happens, you can never get excited or disappointed or anything about it. You just have to wait for it to actually happen because you never know. I’ve seen it happen time and time again. TNA was a good example of that. I went into the situation already fully booked and at the time they didn’t want anyone booked who were going to be on shows that were going to be recorded or anything like that. It would have been nice on one hand to be there but on the other hand I didn’t need to be there. But I was under the impression that I was going to be there. This was from sources within the company and also a personal friend actually. I’m actually friends with Nick Hogan, who’s obviously dad is Hulk. Hulk was actually the one telling me. The crowd was really receptive and everything went real well and obviously I made an impression so Hulk sat me down amongst others and all the reports were positive and looks like I’m getting a job and I didn’t necessarily by it though, but I was kind of like okay, it went well, cool but again to go back I know better than to count my chickens before they hatch. What really got me thinking though that it wasn’t going to happen though when I was on my way home and I got a call from Nick out of nowhere. Now I don’t talk to Nick everyday by any means so when he called me and told me of what his dad told him that was a little more validating in terms of Hulk can say something to me that he may mean or not mean but for him to go out of his way and call Nick within such a short span of time and then Nick call me and tell me led me to believe that it probably was in the bag. With these things, I feel there is a chain of command or hierarchy or whatever you want to refer to it as and sometimes all it takes is one person in that chain of command to put the thumbs down or not necessarily see a need for you or whatever or maybe even just timing. Timing is also a thing with pro wrestling. Is there a spot for this guy? Or how can we use him? I don’t know specifically what it was but I know it wasn’t on my behalf wasn’t devastating and on their behalf I’m sure it wasn’t devastating. But you never can tell because I never really did anything up there.”

On signing with Global Force Wrestling: Jeff (Jarrett) called me. “That’s it, yeah. Jeff, called me and I had worked with him in Ring Ka King in India which was a TNA affiliate at the time and I never met Jeff before or anything like that and after working with him in India and we had a very tough set of circumstances to work with out there but it ended up turning out well and of the utmost professionalism in the terms of the way we were taken care of and the production, the setting. Everything was done so well that once he called me to get on board with this it was really kind of a no brainer. We had done some good things before. Jeff is the kind of guy that has a proven track record he has a resume sort of speak and that was essentially it right there.”

Awesome Kong Addresses Her Status With TNA

Awesome Kong has posted a reaction to the reports that her TNA contract has expired.

As reported earlier, a slew of TNA stars have been granted releases from their contracts. Many of the men and women who are no longer under contract with TNA will still continue working for the promotion on a limited basis, but will now be able to take outside bookings as a result of TNA running fewer and fewer shows.

While we don’t have specifics regarding Kong’s contract with TNA, she wrote:

Update On Kurt Angle’s Tumor Surgery: How Long Will He Be Out?

As reported earlier this weekend, Kurt Angle will be taking time off from TNA to have surgery to remove a tumor from his neck.

Angle has surgery scheduled, however it is apparently not a major operation and he is expected to be able to wrestle again in about three weeks.

Based on the three-week time frame, Angle’s status for the next set of Impact Wrestling television tapings — which are scheduled for July 22nd to July 29th — will be “touch and go.”

On Saturday, we reported that James Storm and Magnus asked — and received — their releases from TNA Wrestling. Additionally, Austin Aries, whose TNA contract recently expired, has also finished up with the promotion.

The latest TNA departures come from the Knockouts division, as both Awesome Kong and Taryn Terrell have also finished up with TNA.

Kong and Terrell’s contracts expired as of this weekend.

TNA Impact Wrestling Taping

1. Brooke beat Marti Bell to retain the TNA Knockouts Title. The show opened with The Dollhouse making their entrance. A Gail Kim vignette distracted Bell, allowing Brooke to hit a facebuster for the win and retain her title…

Dixie Carter came out and announced Jeff Jarrett as the newest inductee into the TNA Hall of Fame…

Josh Matthews and The Pope made their way to the announce table…

EC3 made his way out with the TNA title, accompanied by Tyrus. Next out was Bobby Lashley to massive cheers surprisingly…

2. Bobby Lashley beat Tyrus. Lots of “Funkasaurus” chants early on. EC3 joined the guys on commentary. Lashley performed an impressive electric chair drop on Tyrus, and then finished him off with the spear…

Pope and Josh headed to the back…

Austin Aries made his entrance. He made it clear he was not in a good mood. Little kids gave him the “What?!” treatment, ugh. He talked down Bully Ray, which prompted him to then make his entrance. They went back and forth, with Aries claiming that he deserves to be number one contender to the TNA title. When that was shot down, he brought up the Dirty Heels deserving a TNA tag title match then. Bully Ray responded by offering an X Division title match. Aries disagreed with that offer. Rockstar Spud then made his entrance to a great response. They bickered about Option C. Aries says that Spud has nothing to show for himself in TNA, then challenged Spud to a match to prove himself. Bully made the match official, with the stipulation that if Aries loses then he leaves Impact Wrestling. Aries agreed, but if he wins he wants the right to the “Rockstar” name because Spud doesn’t deserve it. Aries then nailed Spud with a cheap shot and headed to the back.

Jeremy Borash announced that there will be a steel cage tonight, as well as the Hall of Fame ceremony…

2. Eli Drake beat Drew Galloway. Galloway took the fight to Drake in the entrance isle. Drake rolled Galloway up and held the tights for the win. Drew chased him to the back after.

Ethan Carter III made his entrance again. He cut a promo bashing Jeff Hardy and his broken leg. He then mentioned Matt Hardy taking his brother’s place but not being championship material. Jeff Hardy made his entrance to a huge pop. The crowd chanted “Welcome Back”. Jeff ran down EC3 with insults and prompted the crowd to boo him. He introduced his brother Matt, who was out next to a similar reaction. The crowd chanted “Matt for Champ!” Matt discussed his brother and himself discussing stipulations for the title match. Matt jumped to ringside and started pulling out a table, a ladder, and then a chair. The crowd went crazy for the T.L.C. idea but also chanted that they wanted more. Jeff took a seat in one of the chairs and announced it would be a Full Metal Mayhem match, and Bully Ray agreed to no outside interference. They had a staredown to end the segment…

Bram made his entrance holding Mr. Anderson’s detached microphone. Mr. Anderson was out next and ran down to the ring to fight. Anderson scored the win with a small package. Bram followed him up the ramp and laid him out with the microphone.

Kurt Angle Taking Time Off Due To Neck Tumor That Will Require Surgery

As reported last night, Kurt Angle announced during the Impact Wrestling television tapings that he will be taking some time off due to the fact that he has a tumor that will require surgery.

Originally, it was unclear if the Angle tumor was a legitimate issue or an angle, as TNA did use the tumor as part of Angle’s storyline with Ethan Carter III during the show, however we can now confirm that the tumor is legitimate.

The situation is that Angle has had a benign tumor in his neck for quite a while now, possibly dating back as far as a year. The tumor began giving Angle problems lately, particularly with issues of muscular atrophy, so he was forced to address the issue and get it taken care of.

Video: Karen Jarrett On She & Jeff Jarrett Returning To TNA, Dixie Carter & More

Global Force Wrestling has posted a new video that features Karen Jarrett discussing Jeff Jarrett’s TNA return at Impact Wrestling earlier this week. She also talks about TNA President Dixie Carter, the upstart GFW promotion and more.

“All the tweets, everything on social media, all the different wrestling websites, people continue to talk about this being a storyline… this is not a storyline,” said Karen. “This isn’t something that somebody pitched to the company. This is our real life. How did it feel stepping back into the impact Zone? Amazing. Backstage, seeing everyone and all the love the have for Jeff and myself. You know you miss people but you don’t realize how much you miss them until you see them in person.”

Karen continued, “How did it feel to see Dixie Carter? A lot of mixed emotions. I just want everything to be right out of this entire process. I want peace in our lives. Dixie and I saw each other, we hugged each other. Jeff and Dixie saw each other, they hugged each other. They say time heals all things and I’m hoping the time we’ve all had has healed everything that has happened between the three of us.”

James Storm & Magnus Request TNA Releases, TNA Grants Requests

TNA stars James Storm and Magnus reportedly approached TNA management and requested their releases from the company.

PWInsider.com is reporting that the two TNA veterans requested their releases due to the fact that TNA is hardly running events anymore and as a result, talents are making a lot less money.

TNA reportedly understood both guys’ situation and granted their releases, letting them out of their contracts with the company. Their current plan is to have both wrestlers come back in the future and work television events.

Report: Kurt Angle Discovers Tumor In His Neck, Surgery Required?

Kurt Angle revealed during the TNA Impact Wrestling television taping on Friday evening in Orlando, Florida that he is going to be taking some time off from TNA as he has discovered that he has a tumor in his neck that will require surgery.

As of right now, it’s unclear whether or not this is part of an angle, as Ethan Carter III ultimately came out and took credit for the tumor and attacked Angle until Chris Melendez made the save.

Before Angle made the announcement about the tumor, he did say that he will eventually get his rematch with EC3, but indicated that it would be some time down the road.

Jeff Jarrett Talks GFW-TNA Relationship, How His TNA Return Happened & More

Global Force Wrestling founder Jeff Jarrett recently spoke with X107.5 FM in Las Vegas to promote his return at this Sunday’s TNA Slammiversary pay-per-view. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On how his TNA return happened: “Last Wednesday I was in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. On Tuesday night I threw out the first pitch and kicked off the promotion for our Grand Slam tour event. I was sitting at the airport and I got a text from TNA management and they said hey, would you get on a conference call with us today? We’ve got a proposal for you. I actually didn’t respond because my life has been consumed professionally by Global Force Wrestling. As I took the plane back home, I got to thinking: What do they want? They know where my head’s at, they know where my heart’s at. Do they want to do a talent exchange, which has obviously been discussed multiple times over the last couple of months? Do they want to do a big co-show? What do they want?

Curiosity killed the cat and I said sure, I’ll jump on the call. So I got on the call and they said we want you to be in a match. I almost hung up the phone in a diplomatic way; I’m not interested in that. At this time and for the foreseeable future, my wrestling days are in my rearview mirror so I wasn’t really interested. And then as they began to spell it out, it’s not just any match, it’s the King of the Mountain match and it’s going to be at Slammiversary, my heart strings began to tug and it conjured up a lot of emotion. At the end of the day I said let’s look at a deal.

I’m going to be answering some questions in the days and weeks to come how this spells out, but as far as I’ll call it in front of the camera, this Sunday I’ve agreed to one final match in TNA. Like Karen said, go out on my terms. It’s raw emotion. As a professional wrestler, in-ring performer, whatever you want to call us, my juices began to flow and I’m pumped. I cannot wait to see how this comes about. I am genuinely excited for the future of Global Force Wrestling and how me being in the King of the Mountain match sort of parlays into the next steps.”

On his final TNA match at Slammiversary on Sunday: “”It’s no secret. Earlier this year in January, I was fortunate enough, blessed enough, excited that I got to wrestle on New Japan’s annual Tokyo Dome event in front of 50,000 fans. I’m active in AAA and have a long relationship. But as far as week in and week out, my in-ring career has come to a halt. As far as being on this type of stage at Slammiversary in the company that I founded, this is the final one. A lot of emotion goes into that.

On June 19, 2002, me and my father founded that company. Through the years, the ups and downs, the highs and lows and everything in between, we’ve had so many people give us so many opinions. You’re not going to last a week, you’re not going to last a month. That company – good, bad or indifferent – they’re having their 13 year anniversary and I’m going to be there in the main event at the King of the Mountain match and I’m pretty damn excited about it. That show is going be seen live in India, the UK – it’s going to be seen live around the world via the Flipps App.”

On the relationship between TNA and GFW: “I can tell you from the time I got out of the ring – and it’s still going on right now – the texts and the direct messages and the voicemails that I’ve gotten are like, Jeff, what a surreal moment! It’s one of those moments that not only did you think would never happen but even when it happened you’re like, how in the world did that happen?

Quite frankly, it’s part of Global Force Wrestling’s mission statement. We want to work with New Japan Pro Wrestling and are going to. Same with AAA, same with other promotions around the world. So when TNA reached out to me, I’d be contradictory if I said no I don’t want to work with these guys. Was I really gung-ho on stepping back in the ring? Maybe yes, maybe no. I can tell you between now and Sunday, I’m focused on getting physically prepared and mentally prepared. I’m excited about the future. We want to work with all organizations; we think it’s very, very healthy for the industry.”

Velvet Sky defeated Angelina Love in 5:15.

Backstage, Austin Aries and Bobby Roode wore “Dirty Heels” t-shirts. Aries said he thought back to his training and doesn’t recall anything about tables, ladders, and chairs. Aries said they found the formula to beating The Wolves in a standard match, but this match may play right into their hands. Roode noted that there are no rules and they can be as dirty as they want… [C]

[Q4] A vignette aired with talk of how someone must bring balance and it concluded with the line “playtime is over”…

Backstage, MVP was on the phone when the backstage interviewer brought up rumors running rampant. MVP asked if he’s one of those “pathetic leeches that call themselves journalists with inside scoops.” He said anyone who stood in front of Beat Down Clan has laid down in front of them. He said when you’re in a war you lose a few battles but you attack again. He said they are stronger than ever…

3. The Wolves vs. Austin Aries and Bobby Roode in a Full Metal Mayhem match. The Wolves had the early advantage until they went for suicide dives and ended up running into a ladder that Aries and Roode held up. [C]

[Q5] The Wolves came back with some crowd pleasing offense. Aries ended up catching Davey Richards in the Last Chancery, but Eddie Edwards broke it up with a trash can shot to Aries. Roode set up a table in the middle of the ring at 12:55. He picked up Edwards and then Aries performed a missile dropkick on Edwards and Roode powerbombed him in the same motion. Backstage, Borash interviewed Matt Hardy, who said he was as surprised as anyone that EC3 picked him. Hardy noted that his son was born yesterday. He started to call EC3 a piece of shit, but EC3 interrupted him and said Hardy owes him one. Hardy asked EC3 what his legacy will be if Angle makes him tap out…

Mathews and Dinero spoke at ringside about the Angle vs. Hardy match. They shifted their focus to Bram calling out former members of the TNA roster. Pope started saying “what?” repeatedly while looking off-camera.

Jeff Jarrett and Karen Jarrett walked into the studio. Jarrett wore a Global Force Wrestling t-shirt. The Jarretts shook hands with the broadcast team. The fans chanted “welcome back.” Jarrett thanked them and asked if hell has frozen over.

Jarrett asked what the co-founders of GFW were doing in a TNA ring. He said he would address some points and not others. He said he got a text from TNA management last week saying they had a proposal. Jarrett said he didn’t initially reply, but then he got to wondering what they want.

Jarrett took the conference call. He said they told him they want him to come back and take the match. He said he nearly hung up the phone when they said that. “I don’t even wrestle in my own promotion, so why would I wrestle here,” he said. Then he said they told him it was the King of the Mountain match, which he created.

Jarrett said they told him it wasn’t just any episode of Impact, it’s the 13th Anniversary of the company that he and his father co-founded. Jarrett said he started thinking of all the great moments he had in the Impact Zone. He recalled Jim Cornette announcing that Kurt Angle was jumping to TNA. He recalled Samoa Joe and Angle going at it, and he brought up A.J. Styles.

Jarrett brought up Beer Money and said they became probably the best team the company ever produced. He said Eric Young has more TV shows than Ryan Seacrest. Jarrett said he had to really think about how the proposal affect the GFW roster and the staff that had dug deep over the last 14 months.

Jarrett teared up as he asked how Karen was going to react to it. Karen took the mic and said she loves Jeff. She said that when he hung up the phone with TNA, she thought what now. She said they had moved on and GFW is there future. Karen said her emotions took over and she told him not to call them back because they had moved on. She said Jeff laid it out for her and she started to understand.

[Q6] Karen said TNA is Jeff’s baby and he started it with his father. She said she still doesn’t completely understand why they are there, but she loves her husband and supports him in whatever he does in life.

Karen said that she cried her eyes out earlier in the day while they were talking with Sonjay Dutt because they had left it in the rearview mirror. Sonjay told her that Jeff didn’t get to go out the way he wanted to go out. Karen said Jeff didn’t get to leave the way he wanted and he was fired on a backstage pre-tape. Karen said Jeff is going to leave TNA on his terms and he’s going to make things right the way that he knows how to do it.

Jeff took the mic back and said fans can bank on this. The King of the Mountain is declaring himself in the match one last time. *Spoilers* TNA Impact Wrestling Taping Results (7/1-7/15)

The following are spoiler notes from tonight’s show, which will be stuff for the 7/1, 7/8 and 7/15 episodes of Impact in no particular order. Results are from F4WOnline.com.

Ethan Carter III b Kurt Angle to win the TNA title

The final match between The Wolves and Austin Aries & Bobby Roode is a 30 minute Iron man match. This will be determined when whoever wins the match this coming Sunday says I want an Iron man match. The fans in attendance, many of whom were in attendance tonight, will be shocked by this.

Rules are most falls in 30 minutes. Aries & Roode win the first fall at the 26;00 mark. Wolves win the second fall with less than a minute left, and win the third fall just as time expires so they are the new champions.

James Storm introduces his mystery partner, Serena Deeb, for a match against Magnus & Mickie James that already took place last night. People in attendance last night that already saw the match were stunned.

Ken Anderson b Bram via DQ for usage of a chair

Tigre Uno retained the X title over Grado, Rockstar Spud and Zema Ion. Tigre Uno was injured but it wasn’t clearly how badly he was hurt.

Street fight: Jessie Godderz b Robbie E

Velvet Sky b Madison Rayne

What appears to be a show open has Ethan Carter III talking about how Dixie Carter is returning tonight. Matt Hardy wanted to challenge him for the title but he refused. Apparently the 7/8 show has Ethan Carter III as the matchmaker and instead he ordered Hardy in a handicap match against Aries & Roode.

Aries & Roode b Matt Hardy

With the Rising having disbanded, based on a match that airs this coming week, Drew Galloway is booked by EC 3 into a 3-on-1 match against Manik, Abyss and Khoya. Galloway wins the match.

Wolves retain the tag titles over MVP & King via DQ when Hernandez interferes

Brooke b Taryn Terrell to win the Knockouts title. Gail Kim is the new Bray Wyatt or Sabu, appearing when the lights go out and then disappearing.

Eric Young b Rockstar Spud in a chain match

EC3 announced he would have multiple title defenses.

EC3 b the return of Norv Fernum

EC 3 b Shark Boy in his second title defense

Kurt Angle showed up before the third opponent and demanded a return match tonight. They set it up. The match will probably be taped tomorrow.

The show may have ended here.

They did a segment where EC 2 got a low blow from Spud. He also gave Josh Matthews a stunner and kissed EC 3’s mom while Tommy Dreamer came out and gave somebody a DDT. EC 3’s real parents were at the show. I don’t know if they were the ones in the angle.

Low Ki Announces He’s Done With TNA

Former X Division Champion Low Ki has announced that he’s parting ways with TNA Wrestling.

He tweeted on Thursday morning:

Jim Ross Blog: Jeff Jarrett Buying Back TNA?, GFW & TNA Working Together

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently updated his official blog with thoughts on Jeff Jarrett’s surprise return at TNA Impact Wrestling on Wednesday night and what this could mean for TNA and Global Force Wrestling. Below are some highlights.

On Jeff Jarrett’s surprise return at TNA Impact Wrestling: “Jeff Jarrett and his better half @KarenJarrett surprisingly appeared on the live, TNA Impact Wrestling TV show Wednesday night on Destination America. Interesting development that has many speculating as to what is up. Here’s what my experience tells me…there is more to this matter than Jeff competing on Sunday’s tepidly promoted TNA PPV and the opportunity to give Global Force Wrestling a nice bump to the TV audience that watches the hard to find network that many wrestling fans have no access to in the first place.”

On TNA and GFW needing to work together: “Looking at the bigger picture it would seem to be that both TNA and GFW need each other right now. Neither are on top of their game as TNA is rebuilding on a weak network while Jeff’s GFW is just being launched and has no momentum. If the two organizations can reprise an ‘invasion angle’ that can lead to a fresh, major storyline for Wednesday night TV and then bleed over to the GFW live events then it can perhaps become a win-win for both parties.”

On Jarrett possibly buying TNA: “Another possibility is for the Jarrett’s to go back into business with TNA to the extent of perhaps even buying the brand. If Jeff and my Oklahoma friend and neighbor Toby Keith can get the right business deal then money is no object in buying the maligned brand outright and taking it to a new direction and hitting the re-set button which is what I would do including getting rid of the any thing resembling TNA in the name of the company. Toby and I are good friends and he is a wrestling fan but is foremost a savvy businessman. Toby will not make a bad deal because he doesn’t long to be a wrestling company owner but he does like to make money and people with money love to make “new” money.”
