Saturday’s “UFC 137: Penn vs. Diaz” event which was held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, drew a reported 10,313 attendees and generated a live gate of $3.9 million.
UFC president Dana White revealed the figures following UFC 137 at the evening’s post-event press conference, which will be confirmed by the Nevada State Athletics Commission next week after they’ve been verified.
Featuring a welterweight bout between former Strikeforce champ Nick Diaz and former UFC titleholder B.J. Penn (who was quoted as retiring from the company following his loss), UFC 137 marked the company’s first event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas since this past February’s UFC 126 contest.
The number of complimentary tickets issued for the sold-out show was not revealed, but the reported figurescc indicate the UFC generated an average revenue of $378.16 per ticket issued.
UFC 137’s main card aired on pay-per-view, while Spike TV aired a pair of preliminary bouts. Four additional preliminary contests streamed live on Facebook.com for fans around the world.
Should the numbers hold true, UFC 137 would mark the third-largest live gate ever generated by the UFC at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
The venue’s all-time top UFC gates include:
UFC 100 (Lesnar vs. Mir II): $5,128,490 gate (10,871 attendance)
