Update On WWE & AEW Ticket Sales For Summer Tours

WWE are heading back on the road starting next month. So far, ticket sales aren’t exactly what the company would have hoped for, however. According to comments made by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE’s ticket sales have not been good.

“They’re bad,” Meltzer said when asked about WWE ticket sales.

“People aren’t buying tickets. It’s a message, that’s the deal. I don’t want to hear any excuses because they are behind AEW in ticket sales now, as far as a per show thing.”

“There’s a lot under 2000 (tickets sold), a lot of shows,” Meltzer continued.

Some numbers aren’t so discouraging, however.

“They had a very good first week. Houston for the 16th with Edge and the first night back came out very strong. The Fort Worth PPV is almost sold-out, so they’ll have 10,000 people in there, so that’s good.”

The RAW in Chicago is selling somewhat well (over 6000 tickets) as are shows in Pittsburgh and San Antonio. Many markets have less than 2000 seats sold, however.

AEW Beating WWE In Some Markets

It was also noted that AEW is beating WWE in some markets that they are both running.

“They’re both running the Dallas market, WWE is definitely ahead big in that one,” Meltzer said. He also noted AEW is ahead in ticket sales in Jacksonville, but considering that is AEW’s home base that’s not that surprising. He also noted that AEW is selling more tickets in Miami and Charlotte.

“Miami: AEW is ahead. Charlotte: AEW is ahead. Charlotte is a big surprise because in those Carolina markets, WWE is way ahead in those Carolina markets,” he continued.
