Fans were reportedly having their signs removed and discarded by security during Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live. The signs taken referenced All Elite Wrestling (AEW) talent and one that read, “Save Us HHH.” The confiscating took place at the behest of WWE, though not until after it had made it on the air.
The sign that read “You Aren’t MJF” (AEW star Maxwell Jacob Friedman) was featured on hard cam during the show’s earlier segments before its removal.
In recognition to the event, MJF sent out a tweet reading “You aren’t MJF.” He has also retweeted articles relating to the event.
Sign Censorship
According to one fan, once the MJF and HHH signs were taken, security were “taking signs left and right and throwing them away.”
Another added that “Apparently they were too big or he was blocking people too much,” and that’s why WWE made the decision to have them removed.
Given the popularity of AEW’s recent event Double Or Nothing, and the fact that Sami Zayn mentioned the company during his segment on Monday Night RAW, it appears as though WWE has made the decision to censor any reference to the promotion on its product. That’s assuming the Zayn namedrop wasn’t scripted.
