WWE Monday Night Raw Reaction (11/7)

This week’s Monday Night Raw took place in Glasgow, Scotland. The show kicked off with Stephanie McMahon welcoming everyone to Raw. Stephanie announced that Raw GM Mick Foley was unable to be there tonight. Stephanie claimed that Raw is going to dominate Smackdown at Survivor Series. Stephanie then introduced the 5 men that will be competing at Survivor Series for the Raw team. Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman came down to the ring. Roman Reigns was booed mercilessly by the Glasgow crowd. Stephanie McMahon then introduced Seth Rollins as the fifth and final member of team Raw.

Kevin Owens was annoyed with the decision and asked Stephanie if it was a joke. Rollins stated that after team Raw gets the job done at Survivor Series, he will turn his attention back to Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho. Rollins once again referred to Jericho as “sparkle crotch” and the crowd started to chant it. Stephanie McMahon pleaded with the Raw Superstars to pull together. Stephanie went on to say that they needed to prove Daniel Bryan wrong in his assessment that Raw Superstars are lazy and complacent. Stephanie McMahon went on to say that team Raw needs to fight like their jobs depend on it because they do.

Jericho and Owens referred to Rollins and Reigns are stupid idiots but they still need to work together. Owens and Jericho then proclaimed themselves as the co-captions of team Raw. Rollins and Reigns finally had enough and attacked both Rollins and Jericho. Braun Strowman then took out Reigns, Rollins and Jericho. Reigns and Strowman a stare down outside the ring. Stephanie McMahon came out to the entrance ramp and made a match for later tonight. It will be Strowman vs Reigns vs Rollins vs Owens vs Jericho in a Fatal 5 Way match.

Sin Cara & Rich Swann vs Noam Dar & Brian Kendrick

This was a quick match that was interrupted with a commercial break right when the match started.  Swann hit a Hurricanrana on Kendrick and went for the pinfall but Dar broke it up. Sin Cara then hit a Senton on Dar outside the ring and Swann rolled up Kendrick for the victory. After the match, Kendrick called Noam Dar a loser and beat him down in the ring. Dar fought back and kicked Kendrick in the face.

Winners: Rich Swann & Sin Cara

Stephanie McMahon called Sami Zayn into her office and berated him. Stephanie then made a match between Rusev and Sami Zayn to see who will face Dolph Ziggler at Survivor Series. Stephanie went on to say that whoever faces Ziggler at Survivor Series better win and bring the Intercontinental Championship back to Monday Night Raw.

Reaction: The opening promo of tonight’s episode was good but the rest of the first hour was pretty boring. It is nice to see Sami Zayn actually has something of relevance to do on Monday Night Raw. I wish the stipulation for the IC title match would be that if a Superstar from Raw won they would have to Smackdown. I’d like to see the Intercontinental Championship remain on Smackdown.

The New Day addressed Enzo & Cass, Golden Truth, Gallows & Anderson and the team of Sheamus & Cesaro. It took awhile for them to come out so Sheamus took the oppurtunity to insult to Scotland crowd. Sheamus announced himself as the captain and then Cesaro announced himself as the captain. Enzo and Cass then interrupted and insulted Sheamus. Cesaro joined in and called Sheamus a rooster. Sheamus then stated that he wanted out of the team and went to walk away.

Finally, the New Day came down to the ring with kilts and bagpipes. The crowd responded by chanting “New Day rocks”. Gallows and Anderson also wanted off the team because they don’t like the fact that the New Day are team captains. Big E then did the Braveheart speech and stated that Smackdown may take their lives but they will never take their freedom. Cesaro then announced that he and Sheamus were back on the team. Gallows and Anderson announced that they will join the team as well but will stab anyone in the back. Gallows and Anderson called the New Day jokes and it led to a match.

New Day vs Gallows & Anderson

Gallows and Anderson controlled the beginning of the match. Big E finally was able to tag in Kofi and the changed the momentum of the match. It didn’t last long as Big E was tagged back in the match.  Gallows and Anderson wound up hitting the Magic Killer on Big E for the win.

R-Truth traded Golden Truth’s spot on Team Raw to the Shining Stars for a Caribbean vacation. Goldust was very upset by this and wanted to find the Shining Stars so they could get their spot on the team back.

Owens and Jericho confronted Braun Strowman backstage. Jericho was angry that Strowman attacked them earlier in the night but Owens wanted to try and get Strowman on their side. Owens asked Strowman to join their side and form team Kevin, Chris and Braun. Strowman wasn’t interested and stated that he was on team Braun and walked away. Chris Jericho then added Strowman to the list.

Golden Truth vs Shining Stars

The crowd chanted “boring” throughout this match. Primo rolled up Goldust and used the ropes for leverage for the victory. Shining Stars are now on team Raw for Survivor Series.

Winners: Shining Stars

Reaction: The second hour of the show was even more boring than the first. There is quite literally nothing to discuss. The Shining Stars have replaced Golden Truth in the tag match at Survivor Series for some reason. The WWE has spent the last few months ensuring that nobody cared about Gallows & Anderson and they defeated the Raw Tag Team Champions clean tonight. Brilliant. I’m sure Gallows will be dressed up as a turkey in a couple of weeks and will lose a match to Enzo in a pilgrim costume. Welcome to Monday Night Raw where the matches are all the same and the outcomes don’t matter.

Alicia Fox and Sasha Banks are announced as the final members of the women’s team for Survivor Series. The Glasgow crowd started singing to Bayley and Charlotte covered her ears. The crowd wouldn’t stop singing and Bayley had a hard time getting through the promo. Finally, they stopped singing and Bayley was able to continue. Bayley stated that in order for team Raw to win, they need to work together. The crowd once again started singing and Charlotte became annoyed. The crowd didn’t stop singing and completely took over the segment. Charlotte announced Dana Brooke as the fifth member of the team. Michael Cole then stated that Dana Brooke is not the fifth member and introduced Sasha Banks. The crowd continued to sing as Sasha tried to talk.

Alicia Fox, Bayley & Sasha Banks vs Dana Brooke, Charlotte & Nia Jax

This was a back and forth match. Nia Jax took over the match and absolutely leveled Sasha Banks as Raw went to a commercial. When Raw returned, Nia Jax was still in control. Jax tagged in Charlotte and she continued the assault on Banks. Charlotte then knocked Bayley off of the ring apron and the crowd booed. Sasha sent Charlotte flying into Dana Brooke on the apron. Sasha tagged in Bayley and the crowd went bananas. Bayley connected with a few elbows on Charlotte and went for the pinfall but Dana broke it up. Nia Jax launched Alicia Fox into the turnbuckle by her head. Charlotte accidentally hit Nia Jax and she fell out of the ring. Bayley then hit the Bayley to Belly on Charlotte for the victory.

Fatal 5 Way: Seth Rollins vs Braun Strowman vs Roman Reigns vs Chris Jericho vs Kevin Owens

Jericho and Owens started out the match by attacking Rollins. Strowman and Reigns then squared off. Jericho and Owens once again tried to be pals with Strowman but it didn’t work out. Strowman shoved Jericho out of the ring and Reigns and Strowman stared at each other again. Strowman leveled Reigns with a Clothesline and the crowd cheered. Seth Rollins grabbed a kendo stick and hit Strowman about 100 times with it. Rollins then got a table from under the ring but Strowman attacked him before he could set it up. Raw then went to a commercial break.

When Raw returned, Strowman was dominating the match. He slammed Reigns to the mat and the crowd once again cheered. Strowman hit Owens with a Clothesline and posed in the ring. All four men then banded together to take out Strowman. Braun powered out and all four men went flying across the ring. Rollins, Owens and Jericho kicked Strowman in the face and Reigns followed it up with a Superman Punch. Strowman finally fell out of the ring. Rollins and Reigns sent Jericho and Owens out of the ring. Strowman tried to get back in the ring but Reigns hit another Superman Punch. Rollins then hit a Suicide Dive on Strowman outside the ring. Reigns and Rollins were setting Strowman up for a Powerbomb through the table but Jericho and Owens broke it up.

Kevin Owens ripped up an “I heart Roman” sign outside the ring. Owens and Jericho sent Reigns flying into the steel steps. Owens then hit a Cannonball on Reigns who was propped up against the barricade. Owens went for a Cannonball on Rollins but Seth got up and sent him flying into the barricade. Rollins then Powerbombed Jericho onto Strowman through the table outside the ring.

The action returned to the ring and Rollins missed a Frog Splash on Owens. Owens went for the Pop-up Powerbomb but Rollins countered it into a Pedigree. Owens then knocked Rollins out of the ring. Reigns hit a Superman Punch on Owens and Owens fell on top of Jericho for the pinfall victory.

Winner: Kevin Owens

Reaction: The main event was good. The opening promo was good and the crowd hijacking the show singing for Bayley was amusing. The rest of the show was unbelievably boring. It has reached the point where I just watch Raw and hope it isn’t utterly terrible. Unfortunately, 99% of the time it is. I do not understand why the show is so bad every week. They have so much talent on the roster yet they book them in the most nonsensical ways. There really isn’t much more to say than that. This show is just awful. I’m looking forward to Smackdown tomorrow night because it is a wrestling show that is actually entertaining.
