The May 8th edition of WWE RAW was taped at the O2 Arena in London, England to air later on the USA Network in North America. Here are the results from the taping:
– RAW opened up with Dean Ambrose backstage on the phone with Kurt Angle. Ambrose orders a stagehand to hit his music, then Ambrose comes out to the ring. Ambrose says that since Angle isn’t in attendance tonight, he’s the acting General Manager for RAW tonight. The Miz interrupts and says Stephanie appointed him the co-GM, so Ambrose will have to work with him. Braun Strowman interrupts next and says he wants Roman Reigns first, and Brock Lesnar next. Kalisto interrupts and demands a rematch against Strowman, which Strowman isn’t excited by. Ambrose books Strowman vs. Kalisto, then he books Miz vs. Finn Balor too.
– Finn Balor def. The Miz: The finish came when Miz pushed Balor into the ref and was DQ’ed. Ambrose restarted the match with Maryse banned from ringside, and Balor hits the Coup de Grace for the win.
– We go backstage where Nia Jax tells Alexa Bliss she wants a title shot when Bliss is done with Bayley. Bliss says she’ll talk to Angle about it, which pleases Nia.
— Alexa Bliss def. Mickie James: Nia Jax and Bayley were ringside for this one. The finish came when Jax lent some assistance to Bliss from ringside. After the match, Bayley chased Bliss backstage while Nia beat down Mickie in the ring.
– The Miz is backstage and he’s not happy about Ambrose taking over the show. Miz books Ambrose in a match against Bray Wyatt for later tonight.
— Samoa Joe is doing an interview backstage when Seth Rollins attacks him out of nowhere. They brawl until they’re separated by WWE officials.
— Braun Strowman vs. Kalisto – No Contest: Strowman comes out with his arm in a sling and tells the crow he’s injured and can’t compete. But then, Strowman boots Kalisto in the face out of nowhere and the bell rings. A taped-up Roman Reigns comes out and attacks Strowman. Strowman recovers and drops Reigns with a boot, but Reigns comes back with a steel chair to Strowman’s bad arm. Strowman escapes through the crowd and leaves.
— Samoa Joe vs. Seth Rollins is announced for later tonight.
— Cesaro & Sheamus def. Golden Truth, Enzo Amore & Big Cass, Heath Slater & Rhyno, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson: The finish came when Cesaro rolling up R-Truth for the win. Cesaro and Sheamus are now the #1 contenders for the RAW Tag Titles. Post-match, Cesaro, and Sheamus beat down R-Truth and Goldust until The Hardy Boyz come out and make the save.
— Seth Rollins def. Samoa Joe via DQ: This one gets called when Joe slams Rollins into an exposed turnbuckle is DQ’d by the ref. After the match, Joe beats down Rollins until officials pull him off.
— TJP def. Jack Gallagher: Neville was on commentary for this one. TJP gets the win when he rolls up Gallagher by the tights. Perkins beats down Gallagher after the match until Austin Aries makes the save.
— Sasha Banks def. Alicia Fox: Sasha finishes this one clean with the double knee drop off the top turnbuckle.
— Ambrose vs Miz for the Intercontinental Title is announced for next week’s show.
— Bray Wyatt def. Dean Ambrose: This Miz was on commentary for this one, and later into the match he interferes and hits Ambrose. Wyatt follows up on the interference with a Sister Abigail for the win. The Miz beats down Ambrose after the match to close out the show.
