WrestleMania could be headed out west in 2021.
With WrestleMania 35 in the books, there’s no time to waste in planning the next few installments of WWE’s annual wrestling spectacular. WWE recently held a press conference to announce Tampa Bay, FL will play host to WrestleMania 36 in 2020. Now, we have word about where Mania is headed the year after that
According to the Los Angeles Times, a new football stadium being constructed in Inglewood, California’s is the frontrunner to host WWE’s 37th WrestleMania event.
Times Reporter Arash Markazi writes, “The football stadium under construction in Inglewood, which will open in 2020 as the home of the Rams and Chargers, is the front-runner to host WrestleMania 37, according to multiple sources.”
City and stadium officials reportedly would like test holding a major event before the Super Bowl in 2022.
The President of the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission, Kathy Schloessman recently commented on the benefits of hosting WrestleMania.
“We know the power of the WWE brand,” said Schloessman. “They have hosted several events here in the past such as Summer Slam, Survivor Series, Raw
“Given our focus on attracting major sporting and entertainment events to Los Angeles, WrestleMania is at the top of our list of events we want here.”
WrestleMania in California
Los Angeles has hosted the event twice and co-hosted once.
WrestleMania 2 (1986) took place from three separate locations: Long Island, NY, Chicago, IL and Los Angeles, CA. That show was headlined by Hulk Hogan vs. King Kong Bundy in a steel cage match. WrestleMania 21 (2005) took place from Los Angeles’ Staples Center and saw Batista vs Triple H in the main event. WrestleMania 31 (2015) was held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.
