WWE Hell In A Cell 2019 aired live from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA. Natalya submitted Lacey Evans via the Sharpshooter during the Kickoff Show. Here are 5 takeaways from the PPV:

Becky Lynch Retained The RAW Women’s Championship

Becky Lynch defended the RAW Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks tonight inside Hell in a Cell. Banks attacked Becky as the cell was lowering to the floor. Sasha and Becky then battled to the outside and Banks planted Lynch with a Suplex on the steel entrance ramp.

Sasha launched Becky into the steel and then entered the cell. Banks posed on the turnbuckle as the crowd booed. Lynch booted the cage door into Banks’ face and unloaded a flurry of punches. Lynch rolled Banks into the ring as WWE officials attempted to lock the door to the cell.

The match officially started as Becky grabbed the steel chain and wrapped it around her fist. Becky beat the hell out of Banks before raking Sasha’s face across the cell. Lynch decided to lock the cell door herself and Banks was able to regroup. Sasha connected with a kick to the midsection but The Man shrugged it off and sent Banks flying into the steel steps.

Lynch grabbed a table and slid it into the ring. Becky went to grab a ladder but Banks grabbed a steel chair and smashed Lynch over the back with it. Lynch took the chair and hit Sasha with it before the action returned to the ring. Banks went for a roll-up but Lynch kicked out at two.

Becky set up a chair in the middle of the ring and bounced Banks’ face off of it. Banks battled back and Dropkicked the chair into Becky’s head for a two count. Lynch followed it up with an Exploder Suplex that sent Banks to the outside. Becky connected with three Dropkicks in a row and Sasha crumbled to the floor.

Sasha hopped up on the ring apron and hit Becky with a Meteora against a ladder set up in the cell. Banks trapped The Man’s arm between the cell door and slammed it shut several times as Lynch screamed in pain. Banks continued to focus her attack on Lynch’s arm and bounced it off the ring apron for a near fall.

Back in the ring, Sasha placed Becky’s arm in the chair and stomped on it for a two count. Banks continued to focus her attack on Becky’s arm and slammed it on the chair. Sasha set up Lynch on the chair and hit another Meteora for a near fall. Sasha screamed out of frustration after the champ kicked out at two.

Sasha set up a chair on the cell but walked into a kick to the ribs from The Man. Lynch followed it up with a Dropkick that knocked Sasha off the apron and onto the steel cell. Becky slammed Banks into the ring post and followed it up with an Exploder Suplex onto the cell.

The action returned to the ring with Lynch still in control. Lynch connected with a Bulldog on top of a chair and went for the cover but Banks was somehow able to kick out at the last moment. Becky made her way to the top rope but Banks tripped her up. Banks grabbed a chair but Becky hit her with a Dropkick off the top rope for another near fall.

Banks rolled to the outside and reached for a weapon under the ring. Sasha beat the hell out of Becky with a kendo stick and then set two up in the corner of the cell. Sasha tried to slam Becky into them but The Man blocked it and bounced Banks’ dome off the two kendo sticks.

Lynch played some arts and crafts and set up a chair on top of the kendo sticks. Lynch placed Sasha on top of the chair and made her way to the apron. Becky hit a massive Dropkick and both superstars crashed to the canvas as the crowd chanted “holy shit!”.

The crowd chanted “this is awesome!” as Becky connected with a Leg Drop off the top rope for a near fall. Sasha battled back and perched Lynch up on the top turnbuckle. Becky was able to escape but Banks connected with another Meteora through a table. Banks went for the cover but Lynch kicked out at the last second.

Sasha grabbed a kendo stick and applied the Bank Statement with the stick across Becky’s throat. Lynch squirmed out of the ring and ripped the kendo stick away from Sasha. Lynch hit The Boss with the kendo stick several times but Banks was able to launch Becky into the chair she had previously set up on the cell.

The Boss threw a bunch of steel chairs in the ring and a couple of them landed on top of Becky. Banks hit Becky with a chair a couple of times and climbed to the second rope. Lynch threw a chair at Banks’ face and planted her with an Exploder Suplex on top of the chairs. Lynch locked in the Dis-Arm-Her for the submission victory.

Becky and Sasha put on an excellent match tonight at WWE Hell in a Cell 2019. The crowd was fully behind Banks’ return as a heel but WWE proceeded to do nothing with it in the weeks leading up to the PPV. I’m assuming Sasha Banks will be making her way to SmackDown in next week’s draft following this loss.

Reigns & Bryan Picked Up The Win

Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan squared off against Harper and Rowan in a Tornado Tag Team Match tonight. The match started out in a brawl with Harper and Rowan taking control.

Bryan connected with a Dropkick off the top rope that knocked Rowan out of the ring. Daniel followed it up with a Suicide Dive onto Harper and Reigns hit Rowan with a Superman Punch off the steps.

Back in the ring, Rowan leveled Reigns with a Dropkick and went for a Splash but Roman was able to get out of the way. Reigns hit Rowan with a Samoan Drop but turned around into a big boot from Harper for a near fall.

Harper and Rowan isolated Reigns in the corner and took turns beating him down. Rowan leveled Reigns with a Crossbody outside the ring and then grabbed the steel steps. Harper launched Reigns face-first into the steps and Roman fell to the floor outside the ring.

Rowan and Harper then teamed up on Bryan and spent the next few minutes beating him down. Reigns knocked Harper out of the ring as Bryan rolled up Rowan for a near fall. Daniel applied the LeBell Lock but Harper quickly broke it up. Harper hit Bryan with a Michinoku Driver and went for the cover but Reigns broke it up.

The Big Dog unloaded some Clotheslines to Harper in the corner of the ring as the crowd chanted along. Rowan knocked Reigns out of the ring but got knocked to the floor by a Dropkick from Bryan. Daniel hit Harper with some Yes Kicks in the corner of the ring and followed it up with a Dropkick to the knee.

Daniel hit some more Yes Kicks but Rowan dragged him to the outside. Roman connected with the Drive-By but turned around into a Suicide Dive from Harper. Luke overshot it and wound up slamming into the announce table after connecting with the move.

Harper and Rowan cleared off all three announce tables as Roman slowly made his way to his feet. Rowan ripped off a piece of the barricade and hit Reigns with it. Reigns then tumbled over the barricade and into the crowd. Harper went to Powerbomb Bryan through the table but Daniel countered into a Hurricanrana. Reigns hopped back over the barricade and connected with a Spear that sent Rowan crashing through an announce table.

Bryan hit Harper with three Dropkicks in a row and then perched Luke up on the top turnbuckle. Daniel went for a Hurricanrana but this time Harper returned the favor and connected with a Powerbomb off the top rope for a near fall. Harper followed it up with two Dragon Suplexes in a row. Harper went for a third but Bryan landed on his feet. Roman hit Harper with a Superman Punch, Bryan connected with the Running Knee, and Reigns followed it up with a Spear for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Bryan extended his hand and then pulled it back. Daniel then offered a hug but Reigns declined. Bryan started a loud “yes!” chant and the two superstars shared a hug in the middle of the ring. They then shook hands as Reigns’ music played.

WWE Hell in a Cell 2019 started off with two great matches. It was nearly an impossible task to follow the RAW Women’s Championship bout but these four superstars got it done. The was not a dull moment during this match and the crowd was on the edge of their seat the entire time.

The Kabuki Warriors Are The New Women’s Tag Team Champions

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross defended their Women’s Tag Team Championships against the Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane & Asuka). Sane and Asuka dominated early and isolated Nikki Cross in the corner of the ring.

Asuka hit Bliss with the Hip Attack on the apron and sent her tumbling to the floor. Bliss got back up on the apron and tagged in. Alexa slammed Asuka to the canvas and hit her with Double Knees to the midsection.

Bliss smacked Asuka in the face before the action spilled out of the ring. Asuka slammed Bliss into the barricade and rolled her back into the ring. Sane tagged in and Bliss rolled her up for a two count.

Asuka tagged back in and hit Bliss with another Hip Attack in the corner. Asuka applied an Ankle Lock on Bliss in the middle of the ring. Alexa escaped but Asuka kept her from tagging out.

Cross finally tagged in and leveled Sane with a few Clotheslines. Nikki hit Kairi with a Bulldog and then made her way to the top rope. Nikki hit Kairi with a Crossbody and went for the cover but Sane kicked out at two.

Kairi hit an Alabama Slam and climbed to the top rope. Kairi went for the Insane Elbow but Cross got her knees up. Nikki hit a Neckbreaker and went for the cover but Asuka broke it up.

Asuka tagged in and hit Cross with a series of kicks. Cross battled back with a Clothesline as Alexa hit Sane with a Cannonball off the apron. Asuka spit green mist in Cross’ face and pinned her for the victory. Asuka and Kairi Sane are the new Women’s Tag Team Champions.

WWE doesn’t really care about these titles because the majority of the audience had no idea that this match was even on the card. It was cool to see the poison mist make its return tonight. Asuka and Kairi Sane’s theme mash-up is an abomination and it would be nice if they actually had original entrance music as a team.

Charlotte Is The New SmackDown Women’s Champion

Bayley defended her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair tonight at WWE Hell in a Cell. Flair started off the match in control and connected with a couple of chops.

Charlotte locked in the Boston Crab in the middle of the ring but Bayley was able to fight through the pain and reach the bottom rope to break the hold. Bayley rolled out of the ring to try and regroup but Flair grabbed her by the hair.

Bayley poked Flair in the eye and followed it up with a bunch of right hands to the face. Charlotte battled back with a Clothesline and some more chops. Bayley tossed Flair out of the ring and then bashed her knee into the apron a few times.

Bayley continued to target Flair’s knee and wrapped it around the ring post before locking in a Half Crab. Charlotte countered into a roll-up for a two count and then Bayley took back control of the match.

Charlotte went for a roll-up of her own but Bayley kicked out at two. Flair returned the favor and wrapped Bayley’s knee around the ring post and followed it up with a chop block.

Flair hit a Backbreaker and then Natural Selection. Charlotte went for the cover but Bayley grabbed the bottom rope to break up the cover. Charlotte went for a Moonsault but Bayley got her knees up.

Charlotte brought Bayley out of the ring and planted her with a Fallaway Slam. Back in the ring, Flair locked in the Figure Four but Bayley countered into a roll-up for a two count. Bayley tried to roll-up Flair again and used the ropes for leverage but the referee caught her. Charlotte then locked in the Figure Four and bridged into the Figure out for the submission victory. Flair is the new SmackDown Women’s Champion. Bayley threw a tantrum after the match and started crying.

This match absolutely sucked and I couldn’t be any less interested in another Flair title reign. The crowd went nuts when Bayley and Sasha turned heel and WWE decided to do absolutely nothing with it. I wanted to see Bayley as a heel, not someone that is weak that cries after a loss. It is just surreal sometimes to watch WWE destroy whatever momentum they had with a superstar.

To be fair, Charlotte versus Bayley didn’t have a chance to succeed after Hell in a Cell turned into a terrible episode of RAW with 90-minutes of meaningless matches. The crowd was bored out of their minds and this match was destined to fail. Orton defeated Ali, Braun Strowman knocked out AJ Styles to hype up his match with Tyson Fury, and Gable defeated King Corbin with a roll-up. You see, Gable is a short man so he obviously can only win with a small package.

Corbin was also made to look like a buffoon on SmackDown and then lost tonight. So what exactly was the point of the King of the Ring Tournament? What did Corbin gain from winning it? Absolutely nothing.

The Main Event Was A Disaster

Seth Rollins defended the Universal Championship against The Fiend (Bray Wyatt) in the main event of the PPV.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1181025730525831168?s=20

The red lights remained on during the match as Rollins hit The Fiend a few times with a kendo stick. Wyatt was unaffected and slammed Seth to the canvas.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1181026487220224001?s=20

Rollins hit The Fiend with the steel steps and followed it up with a couple of Suicide Dives. Rollins went for another but The Fiend countered into a Sister Abigail into the cell.

Rollins battled back and connected with a Superkick. Seth made his way to the top rope and connected with a Frog Splash through a table in the ring. Rollins followed it up with The Stomp but The Fiend hopped right up. Rollins went for another Stomp but The Fiend caught him with a Sister Abigail.

The Fiend grabbed a gigantic mallet from under the ring and shoved Seth into the cage. Rollins battled back with three Superkicks and another Stomp onto the mallet. Back in the ring, Rollins connected with two springboard knees to the face and two more Superkicks. Seth hit three Stomps in a row as the crowd booed. The Fiend got back up and Seth hit him with the Pedigree. Seth went for the cover but The Fiend kicked out at one. Rollins hit five more Stomps as the crowd continued to boo.

Seth Rollins hit Bray Wyatt on the head with the chair but The Fiend kicked out at one. Rollins hit The Fiend once again with the chair and then set up a ladder on top of him. Rollins continued to bash away as the crowd continued to boo the hell out of him.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1181029693081956353?s=20

Seth grabbed a sledgehammer from under the ring and hit The Fiend with it. The referee called for the bell and the crowd relentlessly booed. The crowd then broke out in an “AEW!” chant as The Fiend got up and attacked Rollins. The Fiend locked in the Mandible Claw as blood poured from Seth’s mouth. The crowd booed as the lights went out to end the show.

It is crazy that WWE has a team of writers that ending a Hell in a Cell Match in a No Contest would go over well. If you are a WWE fanatic and want to defend them no matter what, you can trick yourself into saying The Fiend “looked strong” here. A logical fan should have already realized that WWE has a legitimate problem with connecting with their audience and producing a quality product.

They have all the tools to rectify that issue but have failed miserably to do so once again. I thought I was in for a great show with the way Hell in a Cell started. Instead, the show didn’t just fall off a cliff, it dove head-first and ended with fans booing and chanting for WWE’s competition. This was an embarrassing night for WWE.
