The December 2nd, 2019 episode of WWE RAW aired live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. In addition to the takeaways below, Kyle Busch won the 24/7 Championship.
Here are 5 takeaways from this week’s show:
Kevin Owens Didn’t Accept Seth Rollins’ Apology
Seth Rollins kicked off this week’s show by issuing an apology for what went down last week. Rollins added that the guys and girls in the back are like his family and that it is his responsibility to motivate them.
Rollins noted that he may have gone overboard and he would like to apologize. Seth apologized to the crowd, the entire locker room, specifically Kevin Owens. Rollins asked Owens to come down to the ring so he can apologize to him man to man.
Owens brought up AOP attacking him last week and Seth claimed that he had no idea why they did that. Kevin told Rollins that he is lying and his words are bullshit. Akam and Rezar interrupted and challenged them to a tag match later tonight. Rollins accepted the challenge and Owens pointed out that the three of them are just going to attack him.
Kevin suggested that they just get the attack over with now and Rollins told him he was on his own. Seth walked up the entrance ramp and AOP let him pass. Owens challenged AOP to come down to the ring but they declined and made their way backstage.
There was nothing accomplished with this segment. I don’t understand the point of dragging out Seth’s heel turn. The crowd doesn’t like him regardless at the moment, so the reaction isn’t going to change. I didn’t learn anything in this promo and it was a complete waste of the viewer’s time.
Lana & Lashley Got Arrested
Owens said that he wanted a fight and issued an open challenge. Lashley and Lana were then shown walking backstage as RAW went to a break. Lana came down to the entrance ramp and posed for a bit before finally beginning her promo. Owens immediately interrupted but Lana kept talking and announced that Rusev will not be here tonight. Lana once again announced that she filed a restraining order in the state of Tennessee. Owens called Lana a repulsive person and Lana responded by making fun of the fact that Kevin looks like he enjoys pizza.
Lashley came down to the ring with a couple of cops behind him in case Rusev showed up, Lashley dominated early and beat Owens down in the corner of the ring. Bobby planted Kevin with a massive Spinebuster as Lana cheered him on. Owens battled back and went for a Moonsault but Bobby got out of the way. AOP then made there way back down to the ring and attacked Owens. Akam and Rezar dragged Owens backstage to conclude the match.
Lana began to cut another promo after the match but Rusev was able to attack Lashley from behind. The cops did absolutely nothing to help Lashley and just stood ringside. The cops told Lashley that this is the state of Tennessee and they do things differently. They then arrested Lashley for some unknown reason. Lana then slapped one of the cops and Lana got arrested.
The only positive I can take from this is that Rusev is still getting a great reaction from the crowd.
Drew McIntyre Has A Problem With Randy Orton
Drew McIntyre defeated Akira Tozawa tonight in a quick match.
After the match, McIntyre stated that he had a problem to Randy Orton and demanded that he come down to the ring. Drew rolled footage of Orton poking him in the eye last week on RAW. Drew called Orton stupid and once again demanded that Orton get to the ring.
McIntyre accused Orton of disrespecting him and the crowd chanted “RKO!”. Drew claimed that the only thing Orton is good at nowadays is posting on social media. Orton told McIntyre that he hasn’t a damn thing in WWE and that they should solve their problem right now.
The OC interrupted and claimed that Randy Orton ruins lives. Anderson said that Orton is responsible for AJ Styles losing the United States Championship. McIntyre left the ring as The OC surrounded Orton. Rey Mysterio, Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo came down to the ring for the save and The OC retreated.
The Kabuki Warriors Defeated Charlotte Flair
Charlotte Flair battled The Kabuki Warriors in a Handicap Match tonight on RAW. The Kabuki Warriors attacked Charlotte before the match started and posed in the ring. Flair battled back once the match started and knocked Asuka and Kairi out of the ring.
Back in the ring, Asuka took back control and hit Flair with a series of kicks. Charlotte connected with a boot to the face and Asuka rolled out of the ring. Flair hit them both a Crossbody as RAW went to a commercial break.
When RAW returned, Sane hit Flair with a forearm to the face for a one count. Asuka tagged in and hit a German Suplex before tagging Kairi back in. Sane climbed to the top rope and leaped right into a big boot from Charlotte. Flair climbed to the top rope and went for a Moonsault but Asuka and Sane got their knees up.
Charlotte locked in the Boston Crab on Kairi but Asuka broke it up with a kick to the face. Asuka tagged back in and hit a Dropkick off the top rope for a near fall. Flair planted Asuka with a Powerbomb and went for the cover but Sane broke it up.
Kairi tagged in and made her way to the top rope. Charlotte caught her with an elbow to the face and the two superstars battled on the turnbuckle. Asuka tagged back in and slammed Flair to the canvas. Sane hit Charlotte with a Double Stomp and Asuka went for the cover but Charlotte kicked out at two.
Flair hit a double Spear and went for the pin but Asuka kicked out at two. Charlotte hit Asuka with a Spear but didn’t realize that Kairi tagged in. Flair locked in the Figure Eight on Asuka but Kairi broke it up with the Insane Elbow. Sane then covered Flair for the victory.
Orton Hit Styles With An RKO After The OC Picked Up A Win
Rey Mysterio, Humberto Carrillo, and Ricochet battled The OC in the main event of this week’s RAW. Humberto hit Anderson with an Enziguri for a one count to start off the match.
AJ tagged in and Humberto hit him with a Crossbody for a near fall. Styles knocked Carrillo to the outside and Gallows leveled him with a Clothesline. Luke tagged in and hit Humberto with a boot to the face for a two count.
Humberto battled back with an Enziguri and Gallows fell to the canvas. Rey Mysterio and Anderson tagged in and Rey connected with a Hurricanrana. Mysterio hit a 619 on Gallows and went for one on Styles but Anderson caught him. Karl sent Rey into the ring post as RAW went to a break.
When RAW returned, Gallows hit Rey with a Suplex for a two count. Anderson tagged in and Rey sent him flying into the turnbuckle. Ricochet tagged in and Dropkicked Gallows off the apron. Styles tagged in and Ricochet greeted him with a flying Clothesline.
Ricochet followed it up with a Shooting Star Press for a near fall. Styles hit Ricochet with a Facebuster and went for the cover but Ricochet was able to kick out at two. Ricochet connected with the Recoil but Anderson broke it up. Rey hit Anderson with a 619 and then Carrillo flipped on Gallows outside the ring.
AJ went for the Styles Clash but Ricochet countered into a roll-up for a two count. Styles hit Ricochet with the Pele Kick and then perched Ricochet on the top turnbuckle. Ricochet escaped and Moonsaulted onto Karl Anderson. Ricochet went for a Hurricanrana but AJ caught him and hit the Styles Clash for the pinfall victory. After the match, Randy Orton got into the ring and hit AJ Styles with an RKO to close the show.
This week’s episode of RAW was a completely forgettable show. RAW Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders are still competing against jobbers for whatever reason. Aleister Black defeated Eric Young in a squash match. Erick Rowan defeated No Way Jose in a squash match and then the main event was another 6-man tag match that didn’t mean anything.
