WWE RAW aired live from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, MD on October 30th. Last week’s episode of RAW ended with SmackDown attacking the RAW roster. Here are 7 takeaways for this week’s episode of RAW:
Stephanie McMahon Gave Kurt Angle An Ultimatum

RAW GM Kurt Angle kicked off RAW with the entire RAW roster on the entrance ramp. Angle apologized to the RAW locker room and said that he let he let his friendship with Shane McMahon blind him and that he will never let that happen again. RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon came down to the ring and stated that she thinks that Angle has been doing a great job throughout all chaos.
Stephanie added that Angle earned her respect, until he allowed SmackDown to put RAW under siege. Stephanie blamed Angle for allowing this to happen and called him incompetent. Stephanie then named Kurt Angle the team captain for Survivor Series and said that she expected dominance at the event. If not, she will have to find a new GM of RAW. Stephanie and Angle were shown backstage. Stephanie said that she meant everything that she said and that Angle should ask Mick Foley if he doesn’t believe her.

I figured that Angle and Shane McMahon would be a part of Team RAW and Team SmackDown at Survivor Series. Stephanie McMahon cut a great promo tonight and it was good to see her back on RAW. This storyline is entertaining and Angle showed he could still go in the ring at TLC. Shane McMahon is still an absolute maniac, so if he is added to the match Survivor Series could be very entertaining.
Big Names Returned Tonight On RAW
Nia Jax made her return tonight and defeated Bayley with ease. Alicia Fox was supposed to be Bayley’s opponent but she backed out of the match and announced that Nia Jax would take her place. Alicia then watched the match from the top of the entrance ramp with a captain’s hat on. After Nia’s victory, Alicia announced that Nia Jax will be on the RAW women’s team at Survivor Series.

Samoa Joe also returned and cut a promo about how much he hated the WWE Universe. Apollo Crews then came down to the ring and had a match with Samoa Joe. Michael Cole noted that Crews and Titus O’Neil were the first two Superstars attacked by SmackDown last week on RAW and Crews wanted to prove himself tonight so that he could join the men’s team at Survivor Series. Crews put up a fight but lost the match when Joe put him in the Coquina Clutch. Joe then put Titus O’Neil in the Coquina Clutch after the match.

Stephanie McMahon wasn’t the only Superstar to return tonight. Nia Jax and Samoa Joe made their returns as well. RAW has missed Samoa Joe’s presence so much. He is an awesome heel and a total game-changer for the show. I’m guessing Joe will find his way onto the men’s team for Survivor Series.
Matt Hardy Needs To Become “Broken”
The Miz showed up fashionably late tonight on RAW and Kurt Angle argued with him when he arrived. Angle informed The Miz that he was the captain of Team RAW at Survivor Series. The Miz was pissed off and started belittling Kurt Angle. Finally, the RAW GM had enough and announced that The Miz will be defending his Intercontinental Championship tonight on RAW against a mystery opponent.
His opponent wound up being Matt Hardy. Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel were ringside and got in a cheap shot on Matt during the match. Matt connected with the Side Effect for a two count. Matt climbed to the top rope and connected with a Moonsault for another two count. Matt then hit the Twist of Fate but Miz rolled to the ring apron. The Miz then hung Matt Hardy up on the top rope and followed it up with the Skull Crushing Finale for the pinfall victory.

The Miz and Matt Hardy had a very good match tonight on RAW. I feel like Matt Hardy is being wasted on RAW right now. Jeff Hardy is injured and Hardy has been floating around for weeks. He was briefly paired up with Jason Jordan and now he is back on his own. Matt Hardy is popular, but I’d really like to see him turn “Broken” sooner rather than later. It is long overdue and WWE may have already missed their opportunity to capitalize on Matt being “Broken”, but it is still worth a shot.
Daniel Bryan Got Attacked In The Dark
Daniel Bryan approached RAW GM Kurt Angle backstage and said that he had no idea that Shane and the SmackDown roster was going to attack them last week. Kurt Angle didn’t believe Daniel Bryan and said that he was going to lock Bryan in his office for his own safety because the RAW roster will beat him down if they see him.
Angle also vowed that Team RAW was going to destroy Team SmackDown at Survivor Series. Daniel Bryan was shown on the phone when the lights went out in the office. Kane then appeared and Chokeslammed Daniel Bryan in the dark. Daniel Bryan was shown stretchered out of the arena later during the show.

I still can’t believe that Kane is playing such a prominent role in WWE out of nowhere in 2017. The lights going out was a bit goofy, but I guess it made sense because WWE doesn’t want to show Daniel Bryan taking a bump. I think the only solution here is to bring in Dr. Shelby so that he can sort things out between Kane and Bryan.
It Is 2017 And Kane Is Here To Destroy All Your Favorite Wrestlers

Finn Balor defeated Cesaro in a pretty good match. As Balor was heading up the entrance ramp, Kane appeared. Balor got in the first punch but Kane quickly took control and planted him with a Tombstone Piledriver on the entrance ramp. Kane then made his way to the ring because he had a match with Seth Rollins.
Sheamus and Cesaro came down to the ring and attacked Dean Ambrose outside the ring. Rollins leaped onto Sheamus and Cesaro and then tried to leap onto Kane in the ring but Kane caught him. Kane then planted Rollins with the Chokeslam for the pinfall victory. Ambrose attacked Kane from behind and hit the Dirty Deeds. Sheamus and Cesaro then attacked Rollins and Kane sat up in the ring. Kane then planted Ambrose and Rollins with a couple of Tombstone Piledrivers.

Kane defeated Finn Balor last week clean and tonight he defeated Seth Rollins. At least tonight there was outside interference from Sheamus and Cesaro. I’m assuming that this is going to lead to Braun Strowman returning and having a match with Kane at Survivor Series. I don’t have that much interest in that match because I thought Strowman had elevated passed matches like this. He already defeated Big Show in their feud, I don’t really see the value in having Strowman face Kane.
Braun Strowman Has Spent The Past Eight Days Inside Of A Garbage Truck
The Miz, Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas entered The Miz’s locker room. There was a giant bag of garbage in the locker room and The Miz feared that Strowman was back after he was thrown in a garbage truck at WWE TLC. The Miz then approached Kane backstage and informed him of what happened. Kane stated that Strowman knows where to find him if Braun has come back. The Miz laughed and said that he knew that they were on the same team. Kane then laughed in The Miz’s face and told him that he was on his own. Kane then walked away as The Miz had a concerned look on his face.
Later on RAW, The Miz was backstage with Sheamus and Cesaro. The Miz was freaking out and Sheamus told him to relax because their was no way Strowman could have recovered from what happened to him at WWE TLC. The Miz said “thanks, it is nice to be a part of a strong team”. Sheamus and Cesaro shared a laugh and told The Miz that he was on his own. The Miz then got on the phone and told Bo and Axel to pack the bags because they are leaving right now.
The Miz, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel were shown walking backstage heading towards their car. RAW GM Kurt Angle stopped them and said that the three of them are going to stay until the end of the show or else. The Miz once again was shown backstage before the main event. The Miz told Axel to call the limo driver and tell him to have the car running because they are leaving as soon as the show is over.
After the main event, The Miz and The Miztourage were shown getting in the limo. A garbage truck appeared in front of the limo and started backing towards them. Braun Strowman then emerged from the garbage and chased Miz, Bo and Axel to the entrance ramp. Strowman then launched them all down the entrance ramp and slowly walked towards them.
Braun threw The Miz into the ring and then elbowed Axel off the ring apron. Strowman then planted Axel and Bo with a couple of Running Powerslams as The Miz retreated up the entrance ramp. The crowd chanted “one more time” and Strowman delivered another Running Powerslam to Axel. Strowman wasn’t done and hit a third Running Powerslam to Axel. The Miz had a horrified look on his face as Strowman hit another Running Powerslam.
The Miz and Dallas ran backstage and Strowman brought Axel out of the ring. Braun lifted Axel onto his shoulders and marched up the entrance ramp towards the table. Strowman then hit another Running Powerslam through the announce table. Strowman then posed at the top of the entrance ramp as RAW went off the air.

I thought this was highly entertaining. Braun Strowman emerged from the garbage truck after he was thrown in there by The Miz, Sheamus & Cesaro and Kane eight days ago at WWE TLC. I’m looking forward to the carnage Strowman causes over the next few weeks on RAW. I just wish that it was leading to something more important than a match against Kane.
Alexa Bliss Defeated Mickie James With A Punch
RAW GM Kurt Angle informed Alexa Bliss that she would be defending her RAW Women’s Championship tonight in the main event. Mickie controlled the match early and booted Alexa out of the ring as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, Alexa Bliss regained control of the match after slamming Mickie’s face into the ring post.
Alexa applied a Chin Lock in the middle of the ring and shouted at Mickie to give up. Mickie didn’t quit and battled back to her feet and elbowed Alexa in the ribs to break the hold. Alexa threw Mickie back down to the canvas and once again applied a Chin Lock. Mickie once again broke free but Alexa knocked her back down to the mat.
Mickie got back to her feet and connected with a Clothesline. Mickie hit a Neckbreaker and went for the cover but Bliss kicked out at two. Bliss climbed to the top rope but Mickie caught her with a kick and Alexa tumbled to the floor outside the ring. Back in the ring, Mickie attempted several roll-ups but Alexa kicked out every time. Bliss then hit with a big right hand for the victory.

This was labeled as the main event, but it was clearly overshadowed by Braun Strowman returning to close the show. I don’t quite understand why Alexa Bliss was able to defeat Mickie James with a simple punch. Mickie James is a six time champion and I think she deserved better than that. There really is no reason for this feud to continue after Bliss defeated Mickie James so easily tonight.
