7 Takeaways From WWE RAW (3/26)

lesnar reigns raw

The March 26th, 2018 episode of WWE RAW aired live from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH. Here are 7 takeaways from this week’s show:

Brock Lesnar Beatdown Roman Reigns Again

Universal Champion Brock Lesnar came down to the ring with Paul Heyman to start this week’s RAW. Heyman introduced Lesnar and Brock started hopping around the ring as the crowd cheered. Paul brought up Lesnar beating down Roman Reigns last week on RAW and rolled footage of it. Heyman then announced that the temporary suspension of Roman Reigns has been lifted.

Heyman followed it up by announcing that Roman Reigns is not here tonight and the crowd cheered. Heyman brought up Roman Reigns’ family raising him to fight, wrestle and compete, but it was a shame that Reigns’ family didn’t raise him to be a man. Heyman stated that Roman Reigns is not man enough to take the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar.

Roman Reigns was shown in the crowd and he slowly made his way down to the ring. Reigns grabbed a chair, but Lesnar got out of the ring and leveled him with a Clothesline. Reigns battled back and threw Brock into the ring post. Reigns connected with a couple of shots with the steel chair to the back of the Universal Champion. Roman went for a Superman Punch off the steel steps but Lesnar caught him and planted him with a Suplex.

Lesnar picked up the steel steps and smashed Reigns in the face with them. Brock threw the steps into the ring and then brought Roman in there as well. Lesnar picked up the steps again and hit Reigns in the face. Brock struck Reigns in the back a few times with the chair as the crowd cheered him on. Lesnar then connected with an F5 to Reigns on the steel steps in the ring. Brock hopped up on the steps and posed with the title as his theme hit.

After RAW returned from a break, Roman Reigns was shown walking up the entrance ramp under his own power.

Opinion: Lesnar has got the better of Reigns for two weeks now. Roman is likely going to head into WrestleMania 34 at less than 100% and the announcers will make sure to point that out before the match. I just cannot get myself invested in a storyline in which I have to view Reigns as an underdog that is overcoming the odds.

Alexa Bliss Ran Away From Nia Jax

Nia Jax faced Mickie James tonight on RAW. Alexa Bliss accompanied Mickie to the ring and started trash-talking with Nia before the match. Nia controlled the match early and threw Mickie out of the ring as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, Mickie took control of the match after Alexa Bliss distracted Nia outside the ring.

Mickie connected with a few kicks in the corner and then a Dropkick to her knees. Nia battled back and slammed Mickie to the canvas. Nia missed with a Leg Drop and Mickie hit a kick to the face for a two count. Nia lifted Mickie above her shoulders and then planted her with a Samoan Drop for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Alexa Bliss tried to attack Nia Jax from behind. Nia shrugged off the attack and Bliss ran away. Nia shouted at her and then chased her up the entrance ramp.

Triple H & Stephanie McMahon Vowed To Humble Ronda Rousey At WrestleMania 34

A video was shown about Triple H and Stephanie McMahon training for their upcoming tag match against Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 34. Triple H stated that we are in this situation because Kurt Angle is an idiot. Stephanie McMahon claimed that it was Rousey who should be intimidated because she has never had a WWE match before. Stephanie noted that she has grown up around wrestling and is ready for this.

Triple H said it would be so embarassing for Rousey to get defeated by an executive at WrestleMania 34. Stephanie added that Rousey doesn’t scare her because she is a McMahon and that means that Rousey will simply work for her. Triple H said that at the end of the day, they are business people. They will do what is best for Rousey following WrestleMania 34, repackage her and reintroduce her to the WWE Universe. The promo ended with Stephanie McMahon vowing to humble Rousey at WrestleMania 34.

The Miz’s Plan Backfired

The Miz came down to the ring with Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas for an episode of Miz TV. Finn Balor and Seth Rollins were once again the guests on Miz TV.

The Miz asked Dallas and Axel how the felt The Miztourage was going. Axel and Dallas said that they were happy and The Miz said that they should be happy because he made them relevant. The Miz went on a rant about The Miztourage and said that he cannot count on them. The Miz was pissed off about being left on the mat without any help for two weeks in a row. The Miz said that maybe Bo Dallas should go “Bo-lieve himself back to catering”.

Seth Rollins interrupted and came down to the ring. Rollins noted that normally Miz TV is terrible television, but this episode has been great. Seth got into the ring and The Miz scolded him for coming down to the ring early. Rollins claimed that The Miztourage is feeling under-appreciated. Seth asked The Miz when the last time he thanked them was. Rollins stated that The Miz wouldn’t be the Intercontinental Champion. Rollins started a “Miztourage!” chant and The Miz told them to shut up.

The Miz claimed that he would still Intercontinental Champion and a big star without The Miztourage. Bo Dallas called The Miz “a phony A-lister that cannot fight”. Finn Balor interrupted and joined the party. Balor entered the ring and said that Bo called The Miz the biggest jerk that he’d ever met. Bo interrupted and repeated that The Miz was a phony A-lister that cannot fight. The Miz got in Bo Dallas’ face and asked him to say it again. Bo started to say it again and The Miz slapped the microphone out of his hand.

The Miz changed his tune and said that he was 34 days away from becoming the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all-time. The Miz said that would make him better than Randy Savage, Shawn Michaels and Mr. Perfect. Curtis Axel then got pissed off and The Miz said that one slipped. The Miz announced that Miz TV was canceled for the evening and asked The Miztourage to leave with him.

Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel blocked The Miz from leaving the ring and got in his face. They backed him into Rollins and Balor. Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel then punched Balor and Rollins the face and beat them down. Anderson and Gallows came down to the ring and battled with The Miztourage up the entrance ramp as The Miz stood alone in the ring. The Miz tried to hit Balor with the IC Title, but Finn was ready and planted him with a Slingblade. Rollins went for a Curb Stomp but The Miz rolled out of the ring.

Balor grabbed the Intercontinental Championship and stared at it for a moment before Seth Rollins interrupted him. Rollins grabbed the title from Balor but didn’t realize The Miz had returned to the ring. Balor shoved Seth out of the way and knocked The Miz to the canvas. Seth Clotheslined The Miz out of the ring and turned around into a punch from Balor. Finn grabbed the Intercontinental Championship and raised it above his head to end the segment.

Opinion: The first hour of RAW was quite terrible for the second-to-last episode before WrestleMania 34. The second hour started off with Miz TV and this was at least an entertaining segment. Bo Dallas had me convinced that he was going to leave The Miztourage for a moment.

Bayley & Sasha Banks Finally Aren’t Friends Anymroe

Sasha Banks and Bayley had a conversation backstage and Bayley announced that she was going to be in the women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34. Sasha Banks demanded that Bayley explain what her problem was with her. Banks called Bayley passive-aggressive and Bayley noted that Sasha must love that Bayley is passive. Bayley stated that Sasha must also love that she lets Sasha walk around like she is the legit boss. Sasha said that Bayley was right and that she does what she wants for her own career and is not going to apologize for it. Sasha suggested that Bayley do the same so that everyone in the locker room doesn’t think that she is a loser.

Bayley chuckled and got right in Sasha’s face. Bayley said that the truth is that Sasha keeps screwing her over because she knows that she can’t beat her. Banks said that she is a four time RAW Women’s Champion and Bayley responded by poking fun at how quickly Banks lost the belt each time she won it. Bayley went to walk away but Sasha grabbed her and slammed her into the lockers behind them. Bayley battled back but they were eventually separated by referees.

Ronda Rousey Fought Off Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose

RAW GM Kurt Angle came down to the ring and introduced Ronda Rousey. Ronda came down the entrance ramp with a big smile on her face and high-fived all the fans before getting into the ring. Angle handed her a microphone and then hugged Rousey. Angle noted that he had been watching Rousey train for the past few weeks and declared that she was ready for WrestleMania. Kurt stated that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are going to be ready for anything. Angle added that WrestleMania will be fun, but it is not going to be easy.

Ronda said that was good and then announced that she was going to rip Stephanie’s arm out of her socket. Absolution interrupted and made their way down to the ring. Paige said that they would love to formally welcome Rousey to RAW. Paige got into the ring as Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. Paige asked if Rousey wanted some backup but Rousey declined. Paige was persistent and asked Rousey to become the fourth member of Absolution. Rousey once again thanked Paige for the offer and declined.

Paige said that was not a good choice and Rose and Deville got into the ring. Rousey Clothesline Deville to the mat and then Rousey backed Rose into the corner. Ronda then threw Rose into Deville. Mandy Rose charged at Ronda again, but Rousey Hip-Tossed her to the mat and locked in the Arm Bar. Mandy pleaded for mercy and Kurt Angle told Rousey to back down. Rousey let go of the Arm Bar and Absolution retreated.

Opinion: Rousey launched Rose over her head and onto Deville during this segment and the timing was off. Deville had to run to catch Rose and it looked clunky as hell. We got to see a glimpse of the Arm Bar tonight and I’m sure Stephanie McMahon will find herself in that hold at WrestleMania 34. I would have liked to see something more interesting happen during this segment, but this entire show has been a letdown so far.

The Undertaker Didn’t Show Up

John Cena faced Kane tonight in a No DQ match. Kane controlled the beginning of the match as the entire Cleveland crowd chanted “Undertaker!”. Cena battled back and tried to lift Kane onto his shoulders but Cena collapsed under Kane’s weight. Kane went for the cover and Cena kicked out at two. Cena rolled out of the ring to regroup and Kane followed him out there. Kane launched Cena into the steel steps as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, Kane Suplexed Cena on top of a barricade.

The action returned to the ring and Kane continued the beatdown. Cena sat up like The Undertaker and leveled Kane with a shoulder tackle. Cena hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle on Kane and then threw him into the exposed turnbuckle. Cena mocked The Undertaker once again and planted Kane with a Chokeslam.

Cena grabbed a table and brought it into the ring. Cena tried to slam him through the table with an Attitude Adjustment but Kane blocked it and shoved over the table. Kane set up the table in the corner and launched Cena into it for a two count. Kane brought another table into the ring and tried to Chokeslam Cena through the table. Cena escaped Kane’s grasp and slammed him through the table with an Attitude Adjustment for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Cena stood in the ring and shouted “where are you?!” at The Undertaker. Cena shouted his name again and there was no answer. Cena held up the microphone and the crowd started chanting “Undertaker!”. Cena once again called The Undertaker a coward. Cena said silence is not an answer and added that it is either yes or no. The crowd started chanting “yes!”.

Cena said that he was fine if the answer was no, but told The Undertaker to look at the energy in the crowd when they chant for The Undertaker. Cena added that The Undertaker has one more week to do something. He said that if he doesn’t do something, he will have let everyone down. Cena stated that he hoped that The Undertaker shows up next week. Cena walked right up to the camera and did the throat-slit motion and rolled his eyes in the back of his head as RAW went off the air.

Opinion: Cena cut another solid promo here. I didn’t expect The Undertaker to show up tonight but was hoping that he did just to add some excitement to this show. There is one episode of RAW left until WrestleMania. There wasn’t anything that happened on tonight’s show that got more excited for WrestleMania 34.
