Team NXT Got Off To A Good Start

Women’s Survivor Series Elimination Match: Team SmackDown (Sasha Banks, Nikki Cross, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans) vs. Team NXT (Rhea Ripley, Io Shirai, Candice LeRae, Bianca Belair, Toni Storm) vs. Team RAW (Charlotte Flair, Asuka, Kairi Sane, Sarah Logan, Natalya)

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1198755605223227393?s=20

Lacey Evans slammed Toni Storm to the canvas and then booted Logan in the face. Storm and Logan threw Lacey out of the ring and Nikki Cross tagged in. Cross locked in a Sleeper Hold but Logan escaped. Carmella, Io Shirai, and Kairi Sane tagged in.

Sane and Shirai circled each other as Carmella got pissed off that nobody was paying attention to her. Sane punched her in the face and Carmella quickly tagged Dana Brooke in. Brooke rolled up Io for a two count and then made her way to the top rope.

Dana connected with a Senton onto Kairi and went for the cover but Sane kicked out at two. Rhea Ripley got a great reaction from the crowd as she tagged in and Asuka quickly applied the Asuka Lock. Belair broke it up and chaos broke out and Sasha Banks was the last woman standing.

Io Shirai and Candice LeRae were somehow injured during the match and could not continue. Bianca Belair, Sarah Logan, and Nikki Cross then battled in the ring. Belair rolled up Nikki Cross and Belair used the ropes for leverage to eliminate her.

Belair planted Carmella with the KOD but she was able to get out of the ring. Sarah Logan hit Ripley and Storm with a Double Knees outside the ring. Back in the ring, Belair hit a Splash on Logan and pinned her for the elimination.

Carmella hit a Hurricanrana on Charlotte that sent Flair on top of Belair. Carmella tried to pin them both but Flair and Belair kicked out at two. Carmella started arguing with the referee and Charlotte capitalized with the Natural Selection to eliminate Carmella.

Kairi Sane hit the Insane Elbow on Toni Storm and went for the cover but Banks broke it up with a Meteora. Sasha then pinned Kairi to eliminate her and each brand had three superstars remaining. Asuka quickly eliminated Dana Brooke with a boot to the face.

Flair and Asuka started arguing and shoving each other. Flair unloaded a few chops to Lacey Evans and then Suplexed her into the turnbuckle. Asuka got revenge and spit green mist into Flair’s eyes. Asuka then retreated up the entrance ramp and abandoned Team RAW.

Lacey Evans took advantage and hit Flair with the Woman’s Right to eliminate her. Natalya was the only member of Team RAW remaining. Natalya rolled up Lacey Evans and eliminated her. Sasha Banks was the only SmackDown superstar remaining.

Natalya locked in a Sharpshooter on Toni and then Sasha applied the Bank Statement at the same time and Storm tapped out. Banks and Natalya teamed up once again and quickly eliminated Bianca Belair. It was now down to Rhea Ripley, Sasha Banks, and Natalya.

Sasha Banks then hit Natalya with a cheap shot to eliminate her and it was down to Rhea Ripley and Sasha Banks. Ripley leveled Banks with a Dropkick and went for the cover but Sasha kicked out at two. Sasha locked in a Sleeper Hold but Ripley broke it up by slamming Banks into the turnbuckle.

Banks hit Double Knees and beat Ripley down in the corner of the ring. Sasha hit Double Knees once again off the top rope and went for the cover but Ripley kicked at two. Sasha went for Double Knees again but Rhea countered with a kick to the face. Sasha locked in the Bank Statement in the middle of the ring but Candice LeRae ran down the entrance ramp and dragged Rhea out of the ring.

Rhea launched Sasha into the barricade and then the ring apron. Back in the ring, Io hit Banks with a Dropkick and Rhea followed it up with the Riptide for the pinfall victory.

I thought this match was an overbooked mess and a huge letdown. It didn’t make sense to me at all. Why would Io Shirai and Candice LeRae fake injuries to put their team at a massive disadvantage during the beginning of the match? They either recovered incredibly fast from their injuries or were able to see into the future and just knew Team RAW would implode. There were also a series of goofy eliminations simply to get bodies out of the ring.

Adam Cole and Pete Dunne put on awesome NXT Championship match and finally woke the crowd up. AJ Styles, Roderick Strong, and Shinsuke Nakamura had a perfectly fine match but the crowd was dead silent during it. I guess it makes sense because they are heels but I figured most people would still be able to get into the match. Cole and Dunne finally pumped some energy into this show and hopefully the crowd stays awake for the rest of the show.

It took me some time to get back into this match after Walter, the undefeated NXT UK Champion, was eliminated in three minutes. It would have been better if he just wasn’t in this match if this is the best WWE could come up with. However, it was still a decent match and Keith Lee looked like a star tonight. Some of the eliminations in the men’s and women’s Survivor Series matches were hokey and really took me out of it.

Brock Lesnar Retained The WWE Championship

Brock Lesnar defended the WWE Championship against Rey Mysterio in a No Holds Barred Match tonight at Survivor Series. Mysterio grabbed a lead pipe and brought it into the ring to start things off.

Lesnar was able to hit Rey Mysterio with three Clotheslines in a row and then threw him to the outside. Brock beat Rey some more before planted Mysterio with a German Suplex on top of the pipe.

Brock hit a couple more German Suplex before Dominick ran down to the ring with a white towel. Rey hit Brock with a low blow and Dominick did the same. Rey hit Lesnar with the lead pipe and Dominick hit him with a chair.

Dominick and Rey then hit a double 619 and dueling Frog Splashes onto Lesnar. Rey went for the cover but Brock somehow kicked out at two. Brock planted Dominick with a German Suplex and then hit Rey with an F5 for the pinfall victory. Brock Lesnar is still WWE Champion.

It was an awesome moment to see Dominick and Rey work together tonight. This match was entertaining for what it was. I don’t think anyone actually believed that Rey Mysterio would win tonight.

Unforunately, this match started off painfully slow and it never really recovered. Overall, Survivor Series was a decent PPV but I was hoping for a much better show. Adam Cole and Pete Dunne easily had the match of the night in my opinion. NXT had a terrific show last night at WarGames and then dominated the following night at Survivor Series.
