AEW Dynamite Dominates WWE NXT In Viewership For Week One

The first week of the WWE NXT vs. AEW Dynamite war is in the books. 

Wednesday’s edition of WWE NXT averaged 891,000 viewers, which is down from the 1.006 million viewers that the show drew last week on the USA Network, according to ShowbuzzDaily. 

AEW Dynamite that aired during the same time slot on TNT pulled in 1.409 million for the premiere episode. Thus, AEW won the night.

To compare, this week’s RAW drew 2.570 million viewers (from last week’s 2.210 million viewers), which was the season premiere of the show. The overnight ratings from Nielsen had AEW at a 0.7 and NXT at 0.5.

WWE and AEW will attempt to increase viewership with next week’s episodes, which should be interesting to see what number it pulls in.

The shows had to go up against that Basketball Wives did 1,233 million viewers, Tucker Carlson Tonight with 3,580, and Anderson Cooper 1,482. The biggest competition was an MLB Wild Card Game on ESPN that drew 3,969 million. 

Matches that took place on the NXT show included NXT Champion Adam Cole def. Matt Riddle and NXT Tag Team Champions The Undisputed ERA (Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly) def. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford).

Top matches on AEW included PAC def. Hangman Page and Chris Jericho, Ortiz & Santana def. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) & Kenny Omega.
