Rusev hasn’t been seen on WWE programming for a while and at a time where numerous WWE Superstars are trying to leave the company; his absence has made a lot of people wonder.
Many have been wondering if the Bulgarian Brute, who people believe hasn’t been used properly by WWE in a while, has also asked for his release and the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter sheds some light on the situation.
The Newsletter debunks the rumors about the former US Champion and confirms that he hasn’t asked for a release. It reveals that Rusev has actually asked for some time off and this is the reason why he hasn’t been on WWE TV recently.
While there is no set timetable for his return to WWE Programming, it was noted that the former Champion is expected to be back from his hiatus ‘shortly’.
The last WWE Show Rusev attended was the Super Showdown event in Saudi Arabia where he took part in the 50 men battle royal at the show.
Though he wasn’t doing much before that either and before Super Showdown The Bulgarian Brute was involved in a tag team with Shinsuke Nakamura.
These two made sporadic appearances on the WWE TV every now and then and it would be interesting to see if Rusev joins forces with Nakamura again after his return.
