Becky Lynch Lynch spoke with USA Today’s For The Win blog this week to promote SummerSlam. Becky Lynch will face SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmell and Charlotte in a triple threat match this Sunday. During this interview, she spoke about being the first-ever SmackDown Women’s Champion and the current state of WWE’s women’s divisions.
Her First Title Reign
Lynch stated that once she won the title for the first time, she couldn’t stop smiling and that it took a few days for that moment to set in for her as she usually doesn’t celebrate milestones.
“I was in a Denny’s. We used to love to come to Denny’s – and I remember being in the bathroom and looking in the mirror, and I go ‘I’m the SmackDown Women’s Champion’ and jumping up and down on my own like a little weirdo.”
Women’s Division
Lynch also was asked about the atmosphere in the locker room ever since Evolution was announced as well as the Mae Young Classic tournament where she noted that everyone just wants to prove themselves and that they all want to go into this upcoming event as champion.
“I think everybody is excited, and I think they look at is as an opportunity to really showcase their skills and really highlight themselves. I think we just want to steal the show.”
