Big Show On His Upcoming Hip Surgery, Strowman Being The New ‘Big Man’ Prototype

On Monday, WWE announced that Big Show will be undergoing hip surgery soon. While Big Show has needed the procedure for some time, the storyline is that Show was injured during last week’s steel cage match on RAW against Braun Strowman.

Big Show spoke to WWE.com about the surgery and had strong praise for Braun Strowman.

“I have to have the hip resurfaced,” he said. “There’s been some traumatic injury done to the hip in the match with Braun Strowman. It’s frustrating as hell to be in the best shape I’ve been in my career, but that match, I kind of put a lot out on the table and I’m paying the price for it now. Going forward, I’m very confident in the medical team that’s doing the surgery … we’re gonna go forward from there and see what my options are.”

Show said he’s wrestled some of the strongest, most athletic Superstars in WWE history, including Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Mark Henry and Kane. He said Strowman possesses power and athletic ability rarely seen from one man.  “He has some of Brock Lesnar’s crazy athleticism, he’s got a lot of John Cena’s crazy power with that powerlifting background. He’s got a lot of my size and weight, which comes into play.”

Show touted the abilities of big men like Andre The Giant, Bam Bam Bigelow and The Undertaker, but called Strowman the next evolution of what the big man of the future is.

Big Show said this upcoming hip surgery will “absolutely” impact the rest of his life and his career, but he has no regrets and understands that this is part of the life he chose as a pro wrestler. He’s had a fantastic career, he’s worked with the top talent the industry had to offer over the past 20 years, he’s wrestled around the world and he’ll
