WWE Champion Bobby Lashley is a dominant force in the ring but also carries quite the pedigree in the octagon. He won 15 of his 17 fights during his tenure in MMA. He left the sport in 2020 when his contract with Bellator expired.
To put Lashley’s skills into perspective, Brock Lesnar only went 5-3-0 in his MMA career. Lashley was a serious opponent inside the cage. Even if he never really took MMA as seriously as he did his wrestling aspirations.
“I won some titles, but I was never completely 100% dedicated because I always wanted to come back to professional wrestling.” Bobby Lashley told Joe.co.uk during an interview.
At the end of the day, Bobby Lashley is a fighter. Whether it is in a wrestling ring, or inside a cage. So, hearing Lashley call out current UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou it’s understandable that fans of both sports stopped when they were doing to listen.
“He has a title; I have a title – we could do it in the ring or the cage. … I don’t mind it. If this is calling him out, this is calling him out.” Lashley went on to say.
There can be no denying that those are fighting words, and with the UFC being a place of actionable talk rather than scripted storytelling, you have to believe Bobby.
With Bobby Lashley comfortable in either environment it would be one heck of a confrontation. It would also be an interesting thing for WWE, as not even Brock Lesnar was a champion in both UFC and WWE simultaneously.
