Bobby Lashley Comments On CM Punk’s Failed MMA Debut

Former WWE Champion CM Punk is now deep into the world of mixed martial arts (MMA), having dedicated the past three years of his life to training and fighting. After leaving WWE back in 2014 Punk signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC. He made his professional debut at UFC 203 back in September of 2016 where he faced welterweight prospect Mickey Gall. Gall defeated Punk with ease; taking him down seconds into the start of the fight before proceeding to put on a ground clinic that ended with Gall securing a rear-naked choke two minutes in, forcing “The Cult Of Personality” to tap out.

Despite the horrendous defeat Punk expressed his desire to continue on in his fighting career, and his next fight could come as soon as early 2018. One current professional wrestler who knows a thing or two about leading a successful career in the fight world is former ECW Champion Bobby Lashley. Lashley has juggled careers in both Global Force Wrestling (GFW) and Bellator MMA, being one of the top stars in both promotions.

The former United States Army sergeant is 15-2 in his fighting career and has won his last eight-straight fights. He recently did an interview with Hannibal TV to discuss his thoughts on Punk’s MMA debut loss, and expressed his support for Punk to continue on fighting:

“Yeah, Punk got beat up in his last fight,” Lashley said. “Who cares? He made a lot of money, he trained his ass off, and he stepped into that cage. Punk lost his first fight. He tried and they say that he’s going to take another fight. I’m like, more power to you man. Go out there and fight. s–t, if you lose, it doesn’t even matter.

“We have to start encouraging people to step out of their comfort zones and start doing new things. Anything anybody does new, there are a bunch of naysayers. Everybody wants to be a critic. A critic without the actual accolades to be a critic. When I go to Japan, they don’t care if you win or lose; they just want to see a good fight. If you go out there, train your ass off, and fight, then people should applaud you no matter what.”
