As we’ve previously reported, early indications suggest that WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar could be heading back to the UFC as early as late December for the promotion’s New Years Eve fight card. Dave Meltzer reported that the UFC is hoping for a superfight between Lesnar and former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Jones recently held a Facebook Q&A and was asked about these rumors, and claimed he’d love to share the Octagon with Brock:
“I would love to fight Brock Lesnar. He’s a massive dude. I mean, it would be a massive draw. Really big for the sport. It’d be a great challenge. That’s a big ol’ boy. I doubt Brock Lesnar would take that fight, though. I definitely wouldn’t try to wrestle with him the whole time. I would … you know what, I wouldn’t tell you what I would do.”
The Associated Press contacted Lesnar to get his response to Jones’ comments, and said he’s willing to fight Jones “anytime, anywhere”:
“Would I fight Jon Jones? Anytime, anywhere. Right now he should be worried about D.C. on Saturday night.”
Jones is set to fight this weekend (Sat. July 29, 2017) in the main event of the UFC 214 pay-per-view (PPV) as he takes on Daniel Cormier in an attempt to reclaim the 205-pound title. The question of possibly fighting Lesnar was once again brought up, and Jones chillingly responded by saying he’d take care of Lesnar soon:
“I’ll deal with Daniel, then I’ll deal with Brock Lesnar.”
